This man of great character gives the clean example of edutaining! Bet his eccentric style can make any person gaze with envy on any topic he brings forth
I’m a beginner. I have a Highland Park 12 Viking Honour here. I’ve experienced so many different things sitting here tonight, finding my pallets acceptance of flavour with water, finding out what flavours are on display, also those that are not, using Sir R Paterson’s words and learning to appreciate each for what they are and finding out what is really happening is what it is about. Night 1 of figuring out why people love this. I’m from fife, and I’m getting there
Amazing performance from Richard....(but remember it is written PATERSON, not Patterson-I know the man), one has to go beyond "the show" & his usual spectacular gimmicks to get into his passion & great knowledge of whisky (he's giving here a fantastic summary of history of whisky & his 40 years of master blender). Cheers !
I am pretty sure he gives him a sip of a super mega expensive Dalmore that is over 60 years old and worth over 60.000 Bpounds. At least this is what he usually does at very end. I wish I was there :(
Okay so all of this is good but; in another interview he had burnt himself 6 times, if he always tests the water then why did he get himself bunt for another 14 times. Furthermore, why does he dip his hinger into the water? Any normal person who hasnt religiously cleaned his hand just before doing that will have alot of dirt, dead skin, oil ,etc. That will completely alter the flavour, definitely a lot more than a glass before he throws his first pour. Even with all the grandeur he is still a performer.
It's like a rock n roll show you know, he's putting all speakers volume on full position so there's a bit of saturation & exageration in different aspects, a sort of game if you like (beyond a real rivaltry of course)
Richard Patterson is a showman, fronting Jura and Dalmore, two brands that, along with Macallan, a true whisky-lover would avoid. Most Dalmores are bottled a the minimum 40%, they are chill-filtered and they have a fake tan color from the E150, with a doubled price tag compared to other whiskies. Most people who know anything about whisky, avoid Jura, Dalmore and Macallan, take note of that. I am sure Mr. Patterson is both skilled and experienced, but it really is a shame that the wonderful core product that the Dalmore spirit really is, ends up as a slutted up golf-club whisky with no soul and hardly any taste.
You might say that, but I have tried hundreds of Scotch whiskys. And Dalmore & Macallan are both in my top three. Dalmore is hands down, my favourite scotch whisky. Who gives a shit if they, colour, or chill filter it. The product ultimately I lovely and truly something to be admired.
@@MarkSparksman Sounds like wishful thinking, but hey, enjoy your overpriced, watered down and chill-filtered whisky, for triple the price of actual good whisky then. Macallan hasn't been affordable, nor good, since the mid 90's, everyone knows that, well....almost everyone. Enjoy, more quality whisky from other brands, for the rest of us then.
@@hankbankster9700 The only other brands I put on a similar level to those, with regards to consistency of quality product, is Glendronach and Glenrothes. I admit, Macallan tends to not breakout of of usual flavour profile amongst many of their products, hence why Dalmore, for me takes the cake. They're products are all different in flavour, and consistently enjoyable. What brands do you personally turn to? Why do you care if a product is, chill filtered, watered down, or coloured, if it is fabulous? (As for the price tag, obviously everyone has their own limits with regards to what they're willing to spend, but for me, I have no quarrels with the price that Dalmore puts itself at. As for Macallan, they're entry level bottles are reasonably priced, they're limited released however, I do concur, are quite expensive for what you're getting.
@@MarkSparksman Glendronach goes the same way as Macallan, now that they have started chill-filtering their stuff, in preparation to water it down to 40% as well, so you are too late to the party there. Glad you don't know about Springbank, keep it that way.
@@hankbankster9700 It's nice to wake up in the morning and know there are still morons on the planet. You sir with this attitude towards life will never be able to find peace.
I swear, I could listen to this man talk for 48 minutes and 50 seconds.
that spit every time he says England or London 😂😂😂
Even more hilarious because he’s knighted as a member of the Order of the British Empire.
This Man is a national treasure and must be protected at all costs, lol!
Hello

I could listen to this man talk for a whole day and I don't even like whiskey.

This man is like the cookie monster of whiskey, he talks with the same passion =) as the blue monster do for cookies
The intensity of his delivery is quite staggering. :D
He is blotto here - Richard’s been knockin’ ‘em back all evening. Lovely!
The man is a artist and a scholar

Sir Richard Paterson=Legendary
Richard Paterson is life personified.
Brilliant presentation
He talks like he's trying to get you to go to war over whisky
Looks like sir may have been sampling some of his own wares. Lovely rosy cheeks on him 🤣
That’s why Dalmore is so expensive, this guy is throwing hundred of liters each month…
Now we'll never know what happened to good old John...
John held the glass incorrecty, Richard killed him.
This lovely guy is a storm.
this man needs a movie
bloody hell. im so ignorant. he's the walking talking history machine.
the true whisky-pope
Greatness personified
Richard Paterson is a legend.
He is speaking from his blood
There you go, well said & I think it's the secret of it all....and 40 years of "preaching" the love of whisky helps...
this guy is cool. he reminds me of that scottsmen off of samurai jack.
His whole attitude about the English is taking the mickey ... not to be taken seriously ... he's right as rain.
This guy is a genius.
ด
I feel bad each time he throws the whisky to the floor
especially the eighteen year old
A knowledge-based promotion as always...
Awesome Presentation.....!
Damn I wanted to see the rest
This guy makes me want to spend my life savings on whiskey 🎉
I can feel my hangover already too.....
Sirs Pissed
Imagin R. Paterson one year in Saudi Arab... only water and fruit joyce ??...
But I wanted to see how he abused John..

He is quite adamant towards his opinion of England....
+alflurin The Scotts have good reasons to do that but there's no need to be so harsh!

This is just a farce. He's Conservative and Unionist like the majority in the whisky industry.
It's funny the way he talks about the English I wonder if he is a member of the SNP.
He's a tory.
He’s actually Sir Richard Paterson, Most Honorable Order of the British Empire. So yeah, probably (mostly) joking.
The spit is causing fits
SPEYSIDE!
he hasnt adled his brain but yes where the hell is this story going
Spain! Spain! Spain!

The Irish invented whiskey. End of debate.
Sir Richard is a fine ENGLISHMAN
He would kill you if he heard you say that, he is a Scot!
I hope he’s passionate about the creator too.
