Hi doctor I've recently got my designed orthotic splint that is made for the lower teeth and it's hard material I've been wearing it 24/7 for 20 days with 0% improvement. Yesterday I consulted another well known dentist who told me my splint will never work because it shouldn't has my teeth geometries on it and it has to be almost 3mm in height and the surface should be flat, he also said it should be on the upper teeth where the jaw doesn't move. I'm so confused how to know the type of the splint that works better for me. I watch all your videos and I love you ❤️
Yes! It can be incredibly confusing and not all splints/orthotics are made the same. We generally make them on the lower with bite indexes to guide your upper teeth where to rest. We do not make upper flat plane appliances.

Hi! I've been enjoying your videos and am curious if you know anybody in the Providence RI area who is like minded. Im not completely sure I have a TMJ issue, but I've seen a few ENT's and my dentist and they don't seem to know whats going on. Basically i have a clicking sound near my right ear when talking or burping. it also happens if i bend over and as i rise it clicks or pops. Weird thing is it goes away when i have a cold, but then comes back a week or two after. its been consistent in my life for about 2 years now and frustrating to not get any answers. Thankfully i don't have any pain, nor anything typical that is associated with TMJ other than this clicking/pop sound. Its almost like a pressure issue perhaps.
Hello Dr.Pria. Can you recommend a TMJD dentist in the greater Phoenix, AZ area? I'm currently seeing a dentist now for TMJD pain, jaw/neck osteoarthritis, but I'm not happy with the treatment and would like another opinion. Thank you.
I have pain/pressure right above my left cheek bone near my ear. It doesn’t seem like most of these TMJ symptoms. I’ve been to oral pathologist and facial surgeon.
I think this may be my issue. Since having COVID over a year ago now, I have had issues with Virtigo. So, assumed it was a result of that (not that it couldn't have had anything to do with onset). Additionally, I have been known to grind my teeth a lot, and also suck tightly (I know that's probably a weird description). Lately, I have had extreme and unbearable pain all through my head. After getting a COVID vaccine, the pain increased and spread drastically, especially to and in my eye (not saying that's perpetrator here either, but in mimicking some of the same symptoms I had with COVID, I don't think it's far off to say that it could exacerbate things (it irritates me that the public shames and manipulates people into thinking that side effects of the vaccine won't exacerbate pre-existing health complications... Its neutrality in that respect is in my opinion drastically oversimplified.), especially given that it is designed to trigger immune responses and can make your muscles feel weak. Both COVID and a COVID vaccine invoked these symptoms in my body.). I also lost hearing suddenly the other day for maybe a minute or two amidst a peak/spike in pain. Additionally, I have used head bands around my head/face vertically and horizontally and experienced noticeable (but not at all full) relief. Not saying I have the most healthy teeth otherwise either. STILL! Finally, I have felt the pain in my neck and other areas as well, noticing a link to certain movements (and even pain from touched with my hands that is only felt this way when pushed or agitated from certain angles), and that sometimes even lightly clasping my teeth, like even just barely can feel like someone stuffed a mountain in there. But, this right here makes me think that either way, TMJD might be a contributor to my excruciating pain. I cannot wait until my insurance finally kicks in. But even then this sounds like expensive stuff. I am glad there are people out there thinking outside the box so when I began treatment I am not shooting in the dark in taking charge of my own health. I hope I can get help sooner though; but this brings hope in the meantime.

hi there! sorry but I don't know anyone there. as for your other questions - I think T scans are great but they will not work for everyone to resolve TMJ issues because it really depends on what's causing the issue in the first place. Can this cause globus sensations and ear pressure? When I wear seatbelts, lift or strain it’s like my neck feels an uncomfortable sensation. Also when I press down on the lower portion of my head it’s the same feeling. I also found out that I am Vitamin B6 toxic which affects nerves. So I’m not sure if that’s what causes this or I did something to irritate it.

You can also do the Muscle Releases in my RUclips Playlist called: "TMJ Exercises/Muscle Releases". These may be uncomfortable when you do them, but they bring relief in time.
It is very disturbing to me that for the most part, tmj and the causes of it are for the most part not taught. People have had brain surgeries, that they never needed in the first place, only to later learn that they have tmd. It’s not the doctor who is the problem, it is the institution and status quo to throw them pharmaceuticals or just straight out gaslight a patient instead of treating the root cause.

I've recently got my designed orthotic splint that is made for the lower teeth and it's hard material I've been wearing it 24/7 for 20 days with 0% improvement.
@@theTMJdoc thank you so much!
Yes I'm still wearing my old one it has been more than a month now and my symptoms are different now I have ups and downs in their intensity.
My TMJ mostly affected my ears and my hearing.. Sometimes I just want someone to tell me it will come back again 💔 I used to have a very good hearing and now it's not .. My doctor has a plan for me and I'm still in phase 1
@@shathahabaiba4696 sorry you’re going through this and best of luck to you!
Great job Dr.Priya Mistry.

I'm sorry but I don't know anyone in RI. I'm glad you don't have pain!
Hello Dr.Pria. Can you recommend a TMJD dentist in the greater Phoenix, AZ area? I'm currently seeing a dentist now for TMJD pain, jaw/neck osteoarthritis, but I'm not happy with the treatment and would like another opinion. Thank you.
I’m sorry, I don’t know someone in that area!
Thank you for checking. Love your videos. 👏
@@jennagetz8471 thank you! 🙏🏼
I have pain/pressure right above my left cheek bone near my ear. It doesn’t seem like most of these TMJ symptoms. I’ve been to oral pathologist and facial surgeon.
It could be tmjd. I’d recommend seeing a tmj dentist or tmj physical therapist for further evaluation.
Do you recommend anyone in the Los Angeles area?
Sorry to hear you're going through all of this! Best of luck to you.
Any updates on your progress??

Do you find that your splint therapy also helps reduce and/or eliminate muscle spasms/ticks/twitches and tremors, in addition to the usual headaches, jaw pain etc?
Yes we do find it helps to reduce muscle spasms, tremors, etc. 😊
hi doc, i’m in northeast ohio. do you happen to have anyone? and what are your thoughts on t scans and pod mouth guards?
hi there! sorry but I don't know anyone there. as for your other questions - I think T scans are great but they will not work for everyone to resolve TMJ issues because it really depends on what's causing the issue in the first place. I have no experience with the pod mouth guard so i can't really speak to it.

I would like to see if you have any practitioners to recommend in my area? I live in Jasper, GA which is north of Atlanta.
Dr Rodney Baier comes recommended. He’s in Atlanta. I don’t know him personally or his exact methods of treatment.
I've seen ear pressure associated with this but not the globus sensation as often.

I continue to get denied by medical and dental coverage is there a way that it needs to be written so patients don't have to come out of pocket so much?
No unfortunately TMJ/TMD is not recognized as a problem in most medical or dental schools - at least not enough to be taught in thorough manner. I think it's for that reason that insurance companies do not want to cover it.

Dr. Mike Miyasaki comes recommended - he's in Sacramento, CA. I don't know him personally or his exact methods. What are your symptoms?
It is very disturbing to me that for the most part, tmj and the causes of it are for the most part not taught. People have had brain surgeries, that they never needed in the first place, only to later learn that they have tmd. It’s not the doctor who is the problem, it is the institution and status quo to throw them pharmaceuticals or just straight out gaslight a patient instead of treating the root cause.
I totally agree! Part of the problem is there’s not enough research on tmjd.
