I was over in dublin recently. First trip to Ireland. I felt so at home especially loved Dublin area. One thing I noticed as we were driving round is how well maintained the majority of front gardens are. They were a joy to see. Unfortunately not so many people here in uk take pride in their gardens at least not where I live. One of my neighbours did comment on how nice my front garden looked yesterday and it made my day. She said I’ve encouraged her to buy some plants. She could not have given me a better compliment. X

I have to admit, my front garden is nothing special! But I think when the back is more established, I’ll start tackling that one (but would be too embarrassed to film outside 😂😂😂)

Thanks, as always for this vlog. I live in a village in Somerset here in the UK, it has to be one ofthe noisiest places on earth! Where you live reminds me so much of here, always a generator, a drill, a dog, someone using a hammer or pressure washer! So I can understand your annoyance with it all x Well done for getting those bits planted, a weight off your mind, I know that feeling.

As for the gloves question. I go rogue most of the time. I do try to use them. However, I love the feel of the dirt on my hands.
That said....... I got some fresh farm garden feed 😂 I shall be using thick garden gloves for that 😉 😅😅😅
Good to know, just like you, garden things are a little off this year. 😊

Karen I have you and Catherine to blame for my gardening addiction! Oh my word...I have now got 20 40 x 40 raised beds, 2 veg beds...tomatoes, rutabaga, lettuce carrots, radishes, green beans...the list goes on! I have 14 roses and various and sundry other beautiful plantings. I'm having so much fun and take my husband for tours of the garden if something changes or blooms. I have an abundance of bees and can hear them happily buzzing while out deadheading the plants. My sweet peas are doing well...they were one of my grandmother's favorite flowers. I look forward to continuing the addiction the pair of you started!! BTW I read this week that putting coffee grounds your plants could keep slugs away because they don't like the smell or texture of the grounds! Heat up that coffee pot! Thank you for the work you put into your videos...I look forward to Sunday mornings!

Re greenhouse - need to decide what style of greenhouse you want as may affect the base. My greenhouse is anchored and set into a concrete rim under the walls and door rather than a slab throughout, I much prefer this as it allows any water that spills inside to quickly drain away. There is no right or wrong with this, just something to have in mind. Best of luck with the house works 😊

I try to use gloves, but most of the time don’t, because I can’t feel what I’m doing. Your addition to your house is a big undertaking but will be worth it. I think it’s a great idea to see if you can get the foundation poured for a future greenhouse at the same time as the extension. Hope all goes well for you.

I like your real garden. In my garden this season I've had the best strawberry harvest in years, my corn seedlings kept getting eaten (only 5 left and they're quite short), something ate my Sugar Baby watermelon seedlings, only 1 bean came up, carrots doing great, tomatoes thriving and my garlic bed looks a bit questionable. 😅 my potted dahlias, one came up, potted tulips 4 came up, Dutch iris nothing but green leaves. Zinnias? WTF, they're small and not the usual tall colorful beasts I've grown for years.

I think you're wise to delay planting until your construction is complete. It could be a chance to put pen to paper and plan how you'd like your garden to look with the new home extension. I hope you do eventually get your lovely greenhouse. I've wanted one for years too.

I bought two archs a few months ago from aldi think €40 each, they are gorgeous, not flimsy, but not extra extra strong. I did put a good multi-purpose waterproof black ( so you don't see it ) paint on the joints and nuts. Just have to see how long they last.
What veg am I growing 😮.
Lettuce also iceberg and others beetroot, corn, white brown and red onions green beans two types garlic and carrots I have seen on a lot of alotment utube channels not to grow carrots in trys they don't transplant but mine have my first year growing carrots I even thined them out and planted them elsewhere so far they have rooted in again. Tomatoes which are doing fantastic even got a crop from them strawberries red current black current blueberries and peppers , I've a small garden lot smaller than yours, a big shed takes up about a qurter no grass so I've raised beds and pots. Lots of pots of flowers hanging baskets and wall planters. Front garden yes have grass growing flowers nothing flowering yet fecking weather 😢 in my sons garden new plot I've corn Lettuce broccoli beans in two beds . On his little patio I've pots of flowers strawberries and tomatoes and put a few window boxes. His garden is a small patio \ courtyard area go up steps and a long green garden that was very very overgrown his neighbours were delighted when I started to cut back all the overgrown brambles growing between the gardens. It's going to take time to get the growing set up I'm hoping by next year I'll be set.

Well, now I've watched you I'm going out in the garden to water all my pots as we've had no rain this week and some of the plants are looking a bit sad. I'm quite lucky as I never have many weeds at all but you always seem to have so many. I had an extension built a few years ago now and my son came and dug out a load of shrubs and transplanted them in his garden so they didn't go to waste. Lucky the builders didn't trash the garden too much but fortunately I have a large paved area to the side of the house and that got messed up instead.
