Hey mate dropping you a comment for the algorithm, and to let you know as a fellow Aussie, good channel, your doing great and the content is interesting to watch. It's good seeing not bogans doing well on RUclips here.
Well done guys, my wife and I are currently looking for land in the Southern Downs region to build our own off grid homestead. Your wins and losses will definitely be noted and used to our own benefit. Cheers.
@ my background is in horticulture and landscaping, one of my lecturers told us that if you have nutrient deficiencies and have been unable to amend using inputs try testing ph and add Sulphur as the nutrients are there just locked up or not bioavailable. I have always gone to this first before any other and have good success. As an essential element that is mobile it is usually washed out of soils easier and so needs to be more closely monitored.
Were Ex Darling Downers moved to Childers area (hate the cold) also on 100 acres. Would love to see a video on how to grow big zucchini in or climate. Between the heat and then humidity (which you don't get) I'm struggling to get them that size. Do they like full sun in Dec or should they be moved to a shady spot this time of year. Love what your doing were in a similar situation
We use the big zucchini for baking, or in rich sauce dishes like a veg packed Bolognese not traditional but good the chickens do get their share too but I find it good use when we've gotten busy and not checked them for a few days. I've dropped a follow, I look forward to watching your future videos
Thanks! Kirsty's mum is begging me for the extra zucchinis to make some chutney with, so I can't say no to that. Although, my baby chicks will miss them 🤣
Most times with BER the cause is either to low a pH called be too much over fertilisering with too much artificial nitrogen which is why garden lime or Gypsum helps because it raises the pH and allows calcium uptake
Interesting. Must be naturally occurring low PH in my soil here as all we've done is build the beds with natural soil from the property and then add homemade compost and straw for mulch.
Thanks! Yeah, you're technicsally right. But the effect is really minor, and I really like eating the flowers so you know what... we just plant extra! 😁
You could probably restart them from the carrot tops, but the downsides to this method is the plant misses out on all it's initial natural seedling processes which I believe are critical to it adapting to its environment. And besides, seeds are dirt cheap.
Loved your video 😊 although I grow food …. I learnt heaps from you … of course I subscribed😊 keep up the good work. … My veggie patch is surrounded by Gum trees …………I have read and been Told numerous times that I won’t be able to grow food when surrounded by gumtrees,so far so good, how’s it working for you? Do you have some advise to offer. Thanks again
Grab yourselves a dehydrator and make zucchini chips, add a bit of oil and seasoning before dehydrating and away you go...deliscious!

Really enjoying watching your progress.
@@SamanthaBooth-e2k thanks! It’s a lot of work, but so rewarding
New subsctiber here, very nice garden❤❤❤
Those massive zucchini , you can hollow them out and stuff them with mince, rice and seasoning and cook them in a tomato sauce
Congratulations 🙌 well done
Thanks ☺️
omfg i love this thanks for sharing!!!!!!!!
Something to check first is Sulphur as it is the key that unlocks all nutrients.
Very interesting! Got any good resources you recommend about this?

I have both san marzano and grosse lisse growing in my gardens, too, this summer. The san marzanos are going nuts. Great video. 😀🌻
Thiose San Marzano are awesome! First time growing them. So delicious.
@reganperry They sure are! 😃
Wonderful job; love the ruggedness of your landscape also
It's a lot of work but the rewards are so worth it.
Another great video!!!
Cheers!
I envy your garden!
😊
Thanks for sharing about calcium deficiency as that happened to my tomatoes and struggled growing zucchini
Fingers crossed that's what it was (95% sure). I've added some natural lime to balance it out.

Beautiful garden 😊
We never cook our fresh picked corn. Its just something else exactly as it is 😍
Right! I'm actually amazed (a-maized?! 🤣, sorry, couldn't help the dad joke) how good it is. To date, none of it has made it back to the kitchen 😂
That's a great problem....you really should let it dry and get a lot more use corn is a great when supply's get scarce..
@@Backyardbanana you dont dry sweet corn
I used to eat the raw corn straight from the plant too

@@reganperryIs the underlying a sandy dry soil they usually have a pH of around 4-4.5 just guessing here
@justinarnold7725 spot on! Very Sandy dry soil. Tried to take from the richest darkest deposits we found, but overall sandier than I’d usually like.
Are you considering growing meat from your garden, rabbits and chickens for example?
Look forward to seeing your growing journey evolve.
Q. If you let garlic flower aren’t you compromising the size of the bulb?

More corn the better, you will get a better set thru pollination

Interesting pronunciation of borage!
Haha, yep, I lean a little French on that one 🤣
Love it! I am going to start using it myself, if you don’t mind ;)
@@thomasgarvey9721 nice! Go for it. Sounds more distinguished I reckon 😁
Love Borage, it loves its water but a great self seeder
A bit too good at self seeding I would say!
Where did you get the banana plants? How do the biosecurity regulations affect you?
There should be local sellers/nurseries in your area. Best to check with them.
I am moving to the darling downs area which is why i asked.
where in Australia are you located?
Darling Downs region (SE QLD) 😁
