It's great that Xiaomi and Vivo (Oppo and Honor too) keep improving up their photography so much. I hope it will be enough to wake up Apple and Samsung that are getting lazier each year..
nope it won't, the average consumer thinks Apple and Samsung are the greatest on this planet, take a look at any popular youtuber. Or take a look at how he didn't make a Find X6 Pro review but does to it for Xiaomi, he's been a Xiaomi fanboy for a while now and that was evident with the Mi 11 Ultra review and from that day on it felt like he'd just parrot what everyone else was saying because 90% of normies watch reviews to make themselves feel good about their purchase or how their fav brand is getting praised (case in point, Xiaomi's rabid fanbase).
As a X100 Pro user, I find that Vivo's processing tries to capture as much detail as possible in every situation. Thus giving you more of an overexposed HDR look, where details in the shadows and highlights are captured. Not as eye catching, but more room for editing. The Xiaomi on the other hand in my opinion definitely produces more pleasing colors and light, a more "ready" photo. Keeping things more realistic with darker shadows, which then you lose a bit of detail. More finished photo, less editing required. As usual, all down to personal preference.

I genuinely don't understand why, in the west, everyone is still buying iPhones, Pixels, and Galaxy phones - these phones are orders of magnitude better than all of them.

It has a lot to with devices like these two are difficult to get ahold of here in Europe, we in Sweden for example is such a small market Xiaomi doesn't consider us important enough to market and sell any devices in. Personally i want to buy the new 14 Ultra but i don't know if it will be possible.
To be fair, the S24 Ultra remains the most comprehensive phone, boasting superior design, display, speaker, UI, Galaxy AI, video recording capabilities, main camera quality, and a promise of 7 years of OS updates. On the other hand, despite any personal biases against it, the iPhone still outshines much of its competition with its brighter display, superior sound quality from the speakers, a more complete ecosystem, leading video recording capabilities, and significantly longer battery life.
Availability. Most people buy or upgrade their phones via their carriers. If they can't walk to their carrier's store and upgrade to a vivo, then most likely won't.
Finally someone that tests the camera properly. In all the other reviews and comparisons to Samsung and apple, the photos look bad. Thanks for this video!!
This is such a great camera battle between some of the best manufacturers in the game right now. I still give the edge to the Xiaomi for the sheer intentionality of the camera system complete with a camera housing and grip. To further things though, Xiaomi has given us every possible hardware option of a true camera in giving the main sensor a variable aperture. No other phone gives you this level of control on a smartphone and this is the really exciting stuff that can push mobile photography/videography to the next level. Vivo has still done a killer job in their own right but the main sensor can also do 4k120 video which is a step ahead still. Great job Ben!
You know Ben,imho, as maybe Vivo surpass Xiaomi in some points(camera comparison) I still prefer Xiaomi experience due several items. As I am not a common user, I mean, once I buy a product I use it till is end of life so I like manage my money as better I can. Relating this comparison, Xiaomi can really get better by Xiaomi team itself or bless god, to the community that can really be a plus. I am owner of a Xiaomi Mi9 explorer edition and his camera got really better thanks some camera mods (gcam and Xiaomi Leica cam mod). I guess Xiaomi will be better in the end respect vivo due the community(root, roms, mods) that in vivo apperantly isn't exist. Vivo is like an "Android Iphone", ready to use, no more.
First thing I notice is the sound on the Xiaomi, it's using noise cancellation, sounds a bit weird, is it on the newest update? Other than that the differences aren't huge in my opinion, the Vivo handles backlit objects a bit better, like the red lights at 6:27 for example. Funny that a Chinese guy finds Tokyo the best city in the world 😅 Thanks for the video Ben, this is what a lot of people were waiting for.
dude seriously, your videos are so good that's really really amazing, in this one so much little clips here and there but showing us so much good technical scenarios for the cameras AND GOOD LANDSCAPE / IMAGES + your analysis are so good, you are going in depth in everything, thanks for your work dude keep it up it is amazing (you should maybe try to do some vlogs sometimes, filming with this device then this device, mixing vlog and camera comparisons xD, but I understand vlogging could be annoying for sure) my little thoughts : 4:18 to be honest I much prefer the fact that it does not stabilize too much, than too much EIS which would lead to a lot of jitter, which looks and is sooooo bad, I hate when the footage is jittery (less jitter in the 5x than the 3x in this sequence you showed us) 6:11 yes, as you said throughout the video I LOVE the fact that Xiaomi does not overexposes the shots, that it keeps everything well controlled, giving images that have natural colors AND GOOD CONTRAST, which makes things "pop" and more aesthetically pleasing as you said, more natural, more contrast, everything stand out...
Ben, I have tested the Vivo 100 Pro's camera against the Oppo x7U in high resolution. At first glance, Vivo's pics are eye pleasing. But once you enlarge the pics taken by the Vivo, the details are lacking. The pics from the Oppo proved lots more details and depth. Having used the Xiaomi 13U for 10 months, I can safely say that Oppo x7U takes pics with more natural colors.
I noticed the same problem on the X90 Pro+, it lacks details when it enlarges the photo, before I had an X70 pro+, and I expected much more from the X90 pro+, I have the impression that it is a physical problem, it seems that the lens is not exactly positioned at the ideal distance from the sensor thus affecting the focus even in high resolution mode, I think Vivo didn't know very well how to deal with the 1" sensor, ahh the night mode of the X70 is much, much superior to that of the X90 and X100, especially in very dark environments
It has something to do with faulty processing... The sensor seem to be stitching images on top of images with slight deviation before previous image... This issue happens more than 50 percent of the time ..but if focus and images are stacked perfectly then image clarity is awesome...all this can be fixed by an update
Just now I tested some full resolution images of s24u downloaded from net and compared with vivo opened in Google photos .. When zooming all the way I noticed almost similar details level although I have to say Vivo does some bad processing leading to lines and texture seeming to be somewhat look like oil painting...while Samsung's has almost perfect processing. So in essense samsung photos might look less detailed when viewing normally and zoomed out and vivo looks extra sharp but when pixel peeping both captures details but vivo has some smudgy textures and less defined lines. These can be attributed to bad processing. One thing u can check in vivo is taking shot at 10x and notice the preview screen...if there is slight movement of the hand, u will see a lag in frame (previous image before hand movement) the phone then tries to stack previous photo with current photo thus causing slight blending and out of focus of boundaries of objects resulting in smudgy images....this is my take on why vivo has sometimes bad processed images
Actually bought the Xiaomi 14U and will be here this week, from watching your reviews. Got the Chinese version since it has the slightly larger battery at 5,300 mah. Whenever the global rom gets released, I may just flash it so I’ll be able to use android auto here in the states but other than that, I actually sold my S24Ultra to get this as well. Super pumped for it to arrive.
Ben you are becoming the golden standard for choosing a phone! This comparison is what everybody wants. I am still going to stick to the x100 pro for now, only became its screen is slightly larger (narrower but longer) I hate the x100pro screen design like you do, but xiaomi 14 ultra's screen is even smaller, just by a bit.
Ben, thanks for the comparison. Have been enjoying your tech videos. I do want to point out that vivo x100 pro can shoot 4k selfie video with an OTA update. I have one myself and can confirm that it does shoot 4k selfie video after the update. I can't remember exactly when the update was pushed out. I think it's been out 1 or 2 months already. Do check that one.
i bought a vivo x100 pro and i love it, already one month. battery is so satisfying, fast charging and long lasting. the camera is superb and great! affordable and much cheaper. mediatek chipset is really amaze me, playing games for hours, scrolling social medias, the phone is hardly overheat. thanks!
Thanks Ben, Vivo is still the current HDR heavyweight champion. Their Zeiss T* coating, custom V3 ISP chip and image processing is just too strong. If I had to nitpick and find something I dislike, then it's the occasional overexposure but in general it's just better than Xiaomi and Samsung.
OMG! 😃👍 So much information in such a brief video. I went forth and back for seeing all the details. It took me provably 15 to 20 minutes to watch this video. I was pixel-peeping. 🤭😂 I entered the video biased towards the Vivo. But Xiaomi has definitely the better looking images. Vivo has its moments of better sharpness, more detailed resolution and advantages at night. No doubt. But Xiaomi is definitely more pleasing. A *request* for your videos: when comparing 2 or 3 products try to keep right (center) and left through the entire video. The alternating order can be a bit confusing. 🤪
Your vlog is very beautiful. What’s great about your vlog is that you mention that you’re not a professional photographer and videographer. You excel in reviewing, and many people can relate to your reviews. You always put disclaimer.
Here again, the movie mode video on xiaomi is extra cool. Great results, almost like a movie camera. We can shoot a short film or something with this. And overall video quality is mich better on xiaomi.
Hi friend, great video! Tell me, does the lack of band 20 affect the signal reception quality and mobile internet speed? In Europe, band 20 is everywhere. It would be great if you could make a comparison with Oppo x7 ultra (or maybe compare several phones, including for the global versions, where band 20 is available) in terms of mobile signal quality and mobile internet speed (test with one sim card).
Honestly, both of these cameras are great and I think I've yet to see a closer camera battle (if you ignore portrait mode). Xiaomi wins in some areas Vivo wins in others. I like how XIaomi keeps things natural with darker shadows and softer images, wish Vivo allowed that in a new mode like the Zeiss Natural or something or had a toggle. The day time shots are a personal choice thing but overall the night shots were so good on the Xiaomi. Wish Leica Authentic had HDR as good as Leica Vibrant and had the option to control the amount of contrast and vignetting applied. The Portrait mode shots on the Vivo are top class and if skin softening was a toggle and if there was a way to get softer images then it'd be the best portrait camera rn. Basically if these phones allowed us to tweak the algorithms a little bit more to suit our needs then they'd be so good we wouldn't need a new phone for like 3 years or so. Great vid as always ben.
Thank you for this comparison Ben, helps a lot. Planning to change my phone. Or buy one for a family member. Samsung isn't doing great, at least from my perspective. Using S23 ultra.
Hey! Can you do a comparison of the Pixel 8 Pro and Xiaomi 14 Ultra cameras? I'm interested in how they handle colors and contrast. Both phones seem to take natural-looking photos without too much software processing.
I want to ask about the Chinese version of the Xiaomi 14 ultra. Can I use cashless payments such as Suica (public transportation fees in Japan) or "Osaifu Keitai" (digital wallet)? If anyone answers this question I would find it very helpful. Thank you so much.
Looks like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is a refresh of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and yes there are still room for improvement. The Vivo X100 Pro(still with its flaws) has already taken the top 5 spot of the world's best camera smartphones. The Vivo X100 Ultra/Pro+ is coming along with the Vivo X100s. The camera battle between the Ultras are getting interesting: Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs Oppo Find X7 Ultra vs Vivo X100 Ultra/Pro+.
As always, great phone camera comparison Ben. I noticed judders from Xiaomi videos at night vs Vivo. I think it's a close call. I personally prefer Vivo's night photos & videos. In Vivo, although it does not have a variable aperture, you can adjust the bokeh in post.
The variable aperture is useful at f4 for star burst effect. But it could supplement by using a star filter. Bokeh is usually faked by all camera phones.
I bought Vivo x100 pro 5 days before and Iam so happy with its photography but not the videography So Iam using x100 pro for photos & iPhone 15 pro max for videography
Just want to say that if you are a street photography guy then just go for Xiaomi 14 ultra. I mean look at the shots, see how natural it is in every situation. This is may be for the first time Im gonna pick Xiaomi over Vivo. 😂
yes, I also saw that banding on the xiaomi 14 ultra...kinda awful, so this part is a win for vivo x100 pro thanks to its superior image processing as compared with xiaomi 14 ultra
yes, I also saw that banding on the xiaomi 14 ultra...kinda awful, so this part is a win for vivo x100 pro thanks to its superior image processing as compared with xiaomi 14 ultra
Great Video! I think if we consider the price difference Vivo is the obvious choice at this moment. I think new sensor has got a lot of potential to make the gap between those two phones much bigger. The question is will Xiaomi use this potential and do the updates to the camera software or will they wait and do it in 15 Ultra...
The colours from the first scene are wonderful on Xiaomi, although it can be a bit too contrasty and saturated at other times. I thought Vivo pushed an update to give 4K selfies?
Ben, did you update the X100 Pro to the latest firmware? cause I've noticed you saying that front facing doesn't support 4k/60 video recording which Vivo added in their latest update, thanks.
Ben, you have EV model also in Vivo, just need to turn it on in settings. Like "remember my choice" or something like it and then you can change with finger EV and will stay on.
the vivo x 100 is already good overall in terms of camera quality but the xiaomi with Leica collaboration and a variable aperture primary lens with Leica color mode is catching up fast and giving better results as we can see...nice to see.....👍
Personally I'd still say Vivo's stayed true to the Cinematic and night mode superiority than most phones but Xiaomi is impressing me with the focus, probably due to the variable focal lengths. Be waiting for your review of Vivo's X Fold 3 when its being released.
Thank you for the comparison, I believe that vivo received an update to film in 4k with the front camera, I would like to compare them with the honor Magic 6 pro please
You mentioned how much can you gain editing RAWs from the cameras. Can you do a video about that? Now I have S23U and for all my vacations, I shoot RAW as that gives me more flexibility. I use GCAM, as RAWs were ruined by Samsung few month ago with software update (no longer RAWs, multilayered JPGs stacked in DNG container). And this is what I miss. I cannot find anywhere any comparison, what RAWs from different smartphones look like. I know that most people do shot JPGs only, but for me they are not that important as RAWs and I would really, really appreciate some video that compares RAWs from S24U, X 14U, V 100X PRO etc.
hardly a couple of weeks ago i was big fan of xiaomi's camera but Vivo literally stunned me. I had no idea how strong Vivo's cam algorithm is. i dont know about u guys but i believe VIVO was all the way ahead of Xiaomi here in this comparison.
Been waiting for this video since the beginning of year 2024..... In my mind, I can't decide but imagining which will be the best. Vivo x100 pro, Xiaomi 14 ultra, Oppo find x7 ultra. It's like a battle of the monsterverse Thank you, Ben!
Awesome review ben, my new favourite reviewer for mobiles and really looking forward once x100 pro+ comes out ❤😀🔥 btw. Does xiaomi 14U run a lot cooler with snapdragon chip?

Thank you
Ben, thanks for the comparison.
Zeiss is doing a very good job for the HDR at X100 Pro.
I also think the Zeiss glass makes the photos clearer and with less glare.
Can't wait to see a comparison between the Xiaomi and Vivo X100 Ultra or whatever they'll call it
i bought a vivo x100 pro and i love it, already one month. battery is so satisfying, fast charging and long lasting. the camera is superb and great! affordable and much cheaper. mediatek chipset is really amaze me, playing games for hours, scrolling social medias, the phone is hardly overheat. thanks!
Excellent comparison as expected from Ben. Salute.
OMG! 😃👍
So much information in such a brief video. I went forth and back for seeing all the details. It took me provably 15 to 20 minutes to watch this video. I was pixel-peeping. 🤭😂
I entered the video biased towards the Vivo.
Great content and camera comprision as always Ben's brother
i am eagerly waiting for vivoX100 ULTRA . love from india .
Your vlog is very beautiful. What’s great about your vlog is that you mention that you’re not a professional photographer and videographer. You excel in reviewing, and many people can relate to your reviews. You always put disclaimer.
My favourite phone cam reviewer :) ,,Would be great if you show us more xiaomi 14 ultra, vivo x100 pro and samsung s24U comparisons.
Wo didn't know there is a tech event going on here in Malaysia. Anyway great to have you in Malaysia, Ben.
Would love to see how the find x7 ultra to this. I am still wondering if there will be a x100 pro plus with even better camera.
So , who wins ? I need to change my old phone but I’m hesitant between the two
Thank you for this comparison Ben, helps a lot. Planning to change my phone. Or buy one for a family member. Samsung isn't doing great, at least from my perspective. Using S23 ultra.
that cinematic filter video,, dammmmmnnn ... samsung, im waiting for all this feature in my s24u..
me too , i want this filters on my s24u instead of jumping to lightroom presets to add them
@@ashouhdy yes me too, what an extra effort
Hey! Can you do a comparison of the Pixel 8 Pro and Xiaomi 14 Ultra cameras? I'm interested in how they handle colors and contrast. Both phones seem to take natural-looking photos without too much software processing.
Bem what's your thoughts on the Oppo find x7 ultra? I never saw a full review on that phone from you. Cheers
Ben: *seen*
I want to ask about the Chinese version of the Xiaomi 14 ultra. Can I use cashless payments such as Suica (public transportation fees in Japan) or "Osaifu Keitai" (digital wallet)? If anyone answers this question I would find it very helpful. Thank you so much.
vivo has updated its front camera with 4k 30and 60fps for their global versions as well
Looks like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra is a refresh of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra and yes there are still room for improvement. The Vivo X100 Pro(still with its flaws) has already taken the top 5 spot of the world's best camera smartphones.
The Vivo X100 Ultra/Pro+ is coming along with the Vivo X100s.
The camera battle between the Ultras are getting interesting:
Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs Oppo Find X7 Ultra vs Vivo X100 Ultra/Pro+.
As always, great phone camera comparison Ben.
I noticed judders from Xiaomi videos at night vs Vivo.
I think it's a close call. I personally prefer Vivo's night photos & videos.
In Vivo, although it does not have a variable aperture, you can adjust the bokeh in post.
No, bokeh from a shot cannot be adjusted in post. Only portrait mode shots can be adjusted
The variable aperture is useful at f4 for star burst effect. But it could supplement by using a star filter. Bokeh is usually faked by all camera phones.
Did you use the Leica Authentic or the Vibrant mode for the shots?
oh god the very 2 things I've been absolutely dying for in a single video.....Tokyo and the 14 Ultra
Nice but how is the Honor magic 6 Ultra compared to it?
Almost like a travel Video.
Can you do a comparison between the Oppo X7 Ultra and Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Also Xiaomi 14 Ultra will get software updates to improve the camera.
I bought Vivo x100 pro 5 days before and Iam so happy with its photography but not the videography
So Iam using x100 pro for photos & iPhone 15 pro max for videography
M looking for a good Android phone for videography...have u ever used xiaomi 14 ultra?
@@bharanidevishanmugam3274 no I haven't but I had used mi 11 ultra
Top notch mic quality on the 14 Ultra!!
Just want to say that if you are a street photography guy then just go for Xiaomi 14 ultra. I mean look at the shots, see how natural it is in every situation. This is may be for the first time Im gonna pick Xiaomi over Vivo. 😂
@5:53 i noticed the Vivo handled the RGB lights transitions better where the Xiaomi has the typical banding/flickering of most phone cameras.
yes, I also saw that banding on the xiaomi 14 ultra...kinda awful, so this part is a win for vivo x100 pro thanks to its superior image processing as compared with xiaomi 14 ultra
yes, I also saw that banding on the xiaomi 14 ultra...kinda awful, so this part is a win for vivo x100 pro thanks to its superior image processing as compared with xiaomi 14 ultra
The Sound of the recordings from Xiaomi are impressive, like in a studio.
Great work, Ben. Wondering how the Oppo Fold 7x Ultra would hold up to Xiaomi 14 Ultra?
Always a delightful experience to watch your real-world reviews 👍 Kudos to you bro 🥂
thank you
im steering towards the X14U just for that Photography Kit lol. ngl both of them are so good, each have their own quirks and features.
14 ultra looks like a DSLR camera! Crazy good quality.
Vivo wins in light processing and the images were more natural, only Xiaomi wins by a small percentage in image details
You are on point with the price, I think the vivo is a 1/3 cheaper which makes it a huge bargain.
The colours from the first scene are wonderful on Xiaomi, although it can be a bit too contrasty and saturated at other times. I thought Vivo pushed an update to give 4K selfies?
That's what I've heard as well. Maybe he hasn't received the update yet 🤷🏼♂️
Yeah, I have one and it can record 4k 60 for a month already.
Ben, did you update the X100 Pro to the latest firmware? cause I've noticed you saying that front facing doesn't support 4k/60 video recording which Vivo added in their latest update, thanks.
Yes
Ben, you have EV model also in Vivo, just need to turn it on in settings. Like "remember my choice" or something like it and then you can change with finger EV and will stay on.
the vivo x 100 is already good overall in terms of camera quality but the xiaomi with Leica collaboration and a variable aperture primary lens with Leica color mode is catching up fast and giving better results as we can see...nice to see.....👍
Can someone explain what are the main differences between imx989 and lyt900?
Personally I'd still say Vivo's stayed true to the Cinematic and night mode superiority than most phones but Xiaomi is impressing me with the focus, probably due to the variable focal lengths.
Be waiting for your review of Vivo's X Fold 3 when its being released.
Please do comparison with Pixel 8 Pro, would love to see how it would stack against these beasts.
Thank you for the comparison video! And a special thanks for Tokio ❤ a beautiful place
Thank you for the comparison, I believe that vivo received an update to film in 4k with the front camera, I would like to compare them with the honor Magic 6 pro please
Xiaomi's 14 Pro is the best design in Xiaomi's current line up, it kept getting ignored. Kinda sad its not launched here in India.
Knew I wouldn't be disappointed with the animal shots 🤌🏾
I never get bored of watching Ben review tech. 🤓

I just want to know which one has the best low light video performance with the least amount of noise with the MAIN camera at 1x in 4K 60fps???
2:07 I really like that shot. We have some powerful devices these days.
you da man, ben! Thanks again for all your hard work
How does Xiaomi Ultra 14 vs Oppo Find X7 Ultra camera test compare?
hardly a couple of weeks ago i was big fan of xiaomi's camera but Vivo literally stunned me.
It's like a battle of the monsterverse
Thank you, Ben!
I choose xiaomi
Thanks Ben,
Excellent comparison .
Ben.. after all the updates, right now which is better in camera between these two, xiaomi 14u or X100pro?
Amazing comparative!! One question Ben, how is the battery on the 14 ultra compared to the X100 pro?
Hi ben
How's the feeling on hand for both phones?
And on the software, which one feels better?
Awesome review ben, my new favourite reviewer for mobiles and really looking forward once x100 pro+ comes out ❤😀🔥 btw. Does xiaomi 14U run a lot cooler with snapdragon chip?
para ti Ben, en el apartado de cámaras en general, cual te quedas y por qué?
I want to change my Vivo S16pro right now because of your video, Ben. But both are them are very nice phone, I don't know which one will be mine.
As a cinematographer looking for phones for video I sincerely appreciate your work
get iPhone
Been 6 yrs Xiaomi user here, even my 6 years redmi note 7 still received updates..😊
Hi. Can this 2 beat dji osmo pocket 3?
Amazing Xiaomi 14 Ultra
Excited for Vivo x100 pro plus.
I'm still confused as to which one is better for Videography, especially in low light scenarios, great video btw...
For lowlights...vivo is better
For me Vivo x100 pro is a bit ahead, currently for me it is the No. 1 of all smartphones. You shouldn't forget that 100 x pro is 200-300 dollars cheaper than the xiaomi 14 Ultra
Your opinions which on of these phones is Best camera phones?(S24u, xiaomi 14u, vivo x100 pro and oppo fx7 pro?)
To avoid Vivo X100 Pro overbrightening, can choose to turn off the HDR
yes
