- Wooo!! Nothing calls for a cozy hair tutorial more than a blistery November day, right? I've had a few different people ask about how to style a beret, so uh, here's seven? This is based on an illustration by one of my favorite artists, and I had a lot of fun trying to recreate them! Hope you guys enjoy!!

Newer to this channel and you've inspired me so much! I showed up at the salon in vintage curls to get my hair trimmed yesterday, my stylist was thoroughly impressed with me lol. Seriously in the last month I've really had fun dressing the way I want and not care if it looks too "dressed up".

Same for me! I ran an errand yesterday and when I walked in the door one of the employees said "OOOOOH! I LOVE IT! What is it, fifties maybe?" And I was like...I'm just wearing stuff I love from my closet, no particular theme but...so happy to finally just wear what I want confidently and proudly. Definitely very inspired by Rachel!

Its the technique. Its probably and overnight wet set of some kind and those can last you alllll week if youre careful.
Can be terrible to brush with thick hair tho...

Keep brushing. A lot of smoothness is created thru brushing. Also consider getting a denman styling brush

I sew hair extension clips onto my hats and snoods to keep them in place.

Sally's Beauty bobby pins are the best! I've had mine for years, and they're super sturdy, hold hair well without casually slipping out, and bonus: they've never lost their shape/done that criss-cross thing. As long as you don't lose them (i know...heh...), you'll probably never need to buy any more ever again :)
I would LOVE to see this kind of Marla Vonduta tutorial as a semi-regular series on your channel (maybe monthly?). With the gorgeous content she puts out, and your willingness to tackle these beautiful hairstyles, I’d be here in a *heartbeat* for that kind of video 😍🥰

All of these are so great! Also, I hated bobby pins before and then I found my mom’s high school bobby pins from the 70’s- holy crap, they work so much better, no awkward crisscrossing! Vintage bobby pins forever.

rachel, these hairstyles came out so pretty!! if you’re tired of criss-crossy broken bobby pins, sally hansen has some really amazing heavy-duty bobby pins that are a lot nicer to work with and NEVER bend like that. i swear by them!

I just got a beret from Paris and I was totally stumped how to pin it to make it stay. I had seen the illustration on my vintage hair group but was too confused how to pin the beret. Watching you do all these great styles helped sooooo much!

I'm so glad you did these! I always try to find videos of people doing her picture tutorials because I'm dumb and need more visuals than just a picture. Actually this even comes full circle because during her last challenge, I tried to find vintage hair tutorials and that's how I found you! Anyway, because of this I'm inspired to keep trying vintage hair. I was getting really discouraged with it before. Victory rolls are so hard!

Mine is long and black, and also wavy, curly, and straight all at once (makes life interesting) and I'm far too lazy to do such cute styles. It's mostly a "witch hair, don't care" Bellatrix Lestrange 'do for me... which means, I just really need to stop being a lazy hair bum. I should get it cut a little, too, but stylists scare me as they all want to cut it off at my ears! I'm always envious of your ability to do the hairs! Honestly, whenever I attempt vintage hair styles I always feel like that scene in Beauty and the Beast. The one where Lumiere is like: "Oh, you look so...so..." ( which is definitely my inner voice attempting to cheer me up) and beast is just like: Stupid.
