I think they got rid of that uniform after 2008 and it just looks goofy in all honesty but since I was in the Navy myself, I'll probably grab him eventually
@@beesbattlegrounds yes you have a good point. I remember the original one even had his own actual rope and also a chain and blades at the end of it that he could swing around. That was cool, they could have added those things also. 😩☹
While I dig the second hair sculpt a lot, I think another option they could have thrown in would have been a black wool cap. Who knows, maybe we'll get a redesigned Shipwreck down the line.
Great review. I never had any version of Shipwreck, so I’m still looking forward to getting him even if he is the weakest in the wave. Wish they gave a version of Polly with extended wings or swappable wings like they did for freedom.
Obviously, Since I was in the Navy and wore this pirate suit for the better part of 20 years, I needed this for Good/Bad memories!!!! I don't have any tattoos or a beard, but, maybe I can get a Selfie-Series to haunt everyone I know (Sorry, Honey!!!) It's a decent figure which will stand watch on the shelf!!! Polly is fine, pistol, flintlock and anchor??? are useless!!!! Looking forward to a more robust upgrade in the future!!!! Thanks again for an entertaining review!!! Peace!!!
I just bought this figure for my brother who just retired from the navy and sent him this review and Bobby’s just shitting all over it …..lol thanks for making me look good to my big bro 😂
I like the look. It's something different and could be good for customs. I'd be happy to have a more modern look too. From what I could see the parrot looks nicely sculpted. A wings spread or flying version would be cool. Really they need to give the figs more hand options. With fists he could be brawling on shore leave. 😁
They should've released him in the 50th Anniversary look or even the Rise of Cobra look but I'm still getting him because hey I was Navy back in the mid nineties and wore dungarees so it's a nostalgia thing for me.
Shipwreck was one of my favorite Joes so he’s a must for my collection. But I can appreciate the hard takes on him. Let’s me know what I’m getting myself into. I am ready to see what newer versions of him are though. But I love the classic look.
My order for Shipwreck was delivered a day ago... He looks ok. I won't be buy more of him. I am hoping we do get a more updated version of him, that would be great
I agree with you on him being the weakest for that wave.... I love the new boxart but idk maybe I have to get him to in hand or something..... Idk he is standard looking lol!
Great video. Great review. My Shipwreck figure should arrive next week. I think he looks cool but his loadout is really disappointing. Anyone know of any different loadouts for him? Thanks and Yo Joe!!!!
I wonder if The Punisher/Jigsaw shotgun fits in the blunderbuss holster? Otherwise I feel like cutting off the belt solves a couple of problems. Did Polly ever have a peg leg before this in-universe or is it just for attaching her to the figure? Really enjoying your looks at the newest Joes, Bobby. Your observations are spot-on regarding the plusses and minuses of what seems to me to be essentially a new stage of the line.
Found 4 fresh on the peg at my WM yesterday. I haven't opened mine yet as I'm still suffering from PTSD I acquired from Bazooka 62 which has the WORST face paint applications. Pulse sent me a replacement but it's actually worse than the first copy! On both he has what looks like a hair net on and the replacement has what looks like a giant burn mark scar on his left cheek. This wave has major QC issues. Not considering the rubber gunz of course. 😂 Rock N Roll is awesome though. He looks exactly like my wife's deceased uncle! He died in Vietnam 1969.
Polly was a he. But also I hope that they give us a retroversion or something comprable to Freedom because they could have did a whole lot better with that parrot. The problem is they didn't want to put a peg in the bottom of it because then it would just look like a penis. That's why they went with the peg leg situation which was completely silly
I had been considering skipping this one and waiting for a Devil's Due/Spy Troops look. After your review I just may. He doesn't seem that fun to mess with. None of the accessories interest me either
I think its a generational kind of thing where the more tactical one takes precedence with a younger crowd and the Sailor pulls the 80s collectors more so
@@beesbattlegrounds I was a 2000s kid anyway so the sweater and knit hat is my Shipwreck. Tried the Retro Gung-ho and I just can't do the teal camo. Glad we got the first one. But I'm with you, they need to make Retro a proper subline. Leave things like Shipwreck on a retro card, Rock n Roll is an amazing mix of designs.
@@beesbattlegrounds I was wondering if you were! Haha not as much of us out here, usually stuck taking crap from the 80s guys. Hoping we get some more 2000s figures in the line. Lots of cool new Joes and Cobra's from that era. Can you imagine how badass a Classified Crosshair or Blackout would be?
I think they got rid of that uniform after 2008 and it just looks goofy in all honesty but since I was in the Navy myself, I'll probably grab him eventually
Just add to him weapons from other figures. This is a beautiful Shipwreck!
I'm a fan of Shipwreck but we should have gotten the updated version before this one. Goofy choices were made on this figure in my opinion
@@beesbattlegrounds yes you have a good point. I remember the original one even had his own actual rope and also a chain and blades at the end of it that he could swing around. That was cool, they could have added those things also. 😩☹
I'm looking to get this one!
This looks cool. It is pretty much a Sunbow/Marvel cartoon Shipwreck. Think Polly had a peg leg in that cartoon as well.
While I dig the second hair sculpt a lot, I think another option they could have thrown in would have been a black wool cap. Who knows, maybe we'll get a redesigned Shipwreck down the line.
I think they will do the Navy SEAL version at some point.
Great review of Shipwreck! Definitely making a stop at Gridiron studios for better weapons!

Want commando and classic Shipwreck so good either way.

Though this will look good in the collection, I would've preferred a more modern look like the 50th 4 inch version.

Cool figure 👍👍👍👍
Gotta say this was a DEPRESSING REVIEW my guy … I’m super excited for the character,.. But your killing my Vibe my guy … 😩…
Hey, it's just my views on this version of the character, I'd rather have gotten the updated version before this one

This is the first version with a peg leg that im aware of
I’m glad we got this version of him never cared for the commando look that’s just my opinion tho
I am just gonna wait it out. I like this wave a lot, but still not enough to pay nearly $10 more a figure.
Thats understandable
Hopefully Gridiron will come out with a load out to spruce this figure up.
Whered you get this? Amazon is saying it comes out in September
They should be shipping from Pulse soon, but I got mine from Canada
@@beesbattlegrounds Whered you find them in Canada? I’m in Canada too so don’t have pulse
I’ve never been a shipwreck fan. I don’t want this figure at all. But the figure overall with the tats, guns and rope looks great. Just not for me.
wasn't there a figure with a jacket? I'm not so sure on that other Shipwreck you have, I wouldn't even recognize him in that get up.
The blue turtle neck, with the blue tossle cap
Just bought him at Walmart just went inside and there he was
Nice find!

It's so cool. But why the video only have 360p? Is it my problem?
I am not sure
And a different load out is a definite. Hahahaha good lord.

I get the peg leg, kinda fun but just meh overall. As for articulation, it's a very small piece, I don't think we'd be able to get too much out of it
@@beesbattlegrounds but I want something closer to freedom. I'm sure down the road we will.

@JCC1004 I'm from the JvC/Spytroops Era too!

@@JCC1004 my big hope from that era is an Agent Faces! But Blackout would be so good it would be insane
he always annoyed me in the cartoon. Going to skip the figure.
I would have much rather had the updated version. Call of Duty is a household name and not a single character looks like this
