I think Alien: Blackout was a mix of not only FNAF but also Republique, where you have to use security cameras and hacking tricks to guide the main protagonist, Hope, to escape from prison.
Wait no AvP 2010? I guess this video isn’t about AvP, it’s specifically about Alien games, but the best Alien game I’ve ever played was the Alien campaign in AvP 2010. Then again, I vastly prefer being able to play as the xenomorph than playing as the humans, so I’ve never cared for most Alien games.
The AvP games are far more Aliens games than Predator games, it's weird not to have them here. They were the best games the franchise had to offer until Isolation came along.
Don't forget about the classic AvP arcade game, and then AvP 1 & 2 from the early 2000s. AvP 2 from 2003 has, for me, the best Colonial Marines vs Aliens storyline of the games. Shame it's out of print of not available anywhere, not even on GoG.

A lot of stuff in the movies, games and comics suggests that the aliens have a sort of hive mind to relay information back to the queen. That would make sense because of how they adapt as a group in the second movie

This is a really nice video. Corny at times, but really nice. I love how resurrection kind of pathed the way for modern shooter controls. It was also innovative for a console game in that you could se the sensitivity AND the dead zone. I would really love if you guys did a reviewing all the predator games, or reviewing all the AvP games.

You missed Aliens Versus Predator (1999) and Aliens Versus Predator 2 (2001). I don't remember the first one, but the second one was a very creepy FPS where you either played as a lone Colonial Marine (I remember it as being every bit as creepy as the newer Alien: Isolation, except you did get to shoot back), an Alien (climbing walls and going through various life-cycle stages) or a Predator (with ability to see infrared and ultraviolet). The games ran on Windows or Macs, but not consoles. There was also a 1994 Alien vs Predator game that run exclusively on the Atari Jaguar console.

It’s more of a mod for a very niche and dense game called Space Station 13 (the community will murder me for posting this). It’s called Colonial marines ss13 (cm-ss13 for short). It’s sorta a massive TDM/role play with anywhere from 40-250 players I’ve seen at a time. It is very in-depth, like most of ss13, so I can’t really explain it all, but if y’all look up videos of ss13 and can get over the LARGE AF learning curve that comes with it then I highly suggest it. ss13 is my favorite game ever, it’s free and involves a lotta shenanigans across all its variety of servers. Don’t shoot your brothers! And always listen to the queen sisters!

I still don't believe that redefinition of everything, but yeah, the artistic parallels are actually pretty good in creating that Alien variant. I'm disappointed it didn't read well to some players.

The game is notable for a few reasons - firstly it was obviously an amazing proof of concept for how to entirely rework Doom - a game that is reworked to this day, which was ironically originally going to be based on the Alien franchise. It represents the path not taken. And the other reason its notable is its impact on just about every Alien game made since. The TC mod provides a first level that consists of no enemies and is merely there to establish the setting and build suspense. Its reasonably fair to say, the game is better than Alien Trilogy, which seems to run off a modified Wolfenstein 3D engine, and probably better than Aliens Colonial Marines
Wow you were absolutely not joking when you said this was your most ambitious video to date, it really shows. As for the Alien games, I've only played Isolation which had one fatal flaw I'm surprised you didn't mention: Even on normal difficulty the game is a bit too punishing with the Xenomorph and how spread out all the save points are. It gets to the point where getting killed out of nowhere by it stops being scary and just ends up being frustrating, it's a great game but I found myself having to push through out of spite just to reach the end.
I really liked colonial marines, the story wasn't the best but I mostly loved the combat and weapons. And I never had any glitches, but now I'm seeing whats happening here and I feel bad for the people who had the worst time ever playing it while I had no issues, seems unfair
Same here. I found it rather enjoyable and didn’t have any bugs that I can recall. I like this video, but I think they were bringing a lot of preconceived notions to what the game should have been, instead of what it was. They wanted it to be a slower paced survival horror experience, but that’s not what it was. Non-Xenomorph enemies are included to add variety I would guess. Fire Team Elite did the same.

@3:53 was my first Alien game on the Apple //c in the early 80s. Not sure if it's as good as I remember, but I thought it was great at the time and made me feel on edge playing. It was hard, but I do remember getting to the end with the power loader and I thought it was awesome seeing Ripley's famous line encountering the queen on the game.
Check out the Aliens Vs Predator games. All three have Xenomorphs campaigns. The best one was Aliens Vs Predator 2 2001 which allowed you to play through all the major life cycles of a Xenomorph too. Including the chest bursting part. Unfortunately, AVP 2 is not available on Steam unlike the 1st and 3rd games.

The part where isolation takes a significantly long amount of time before you even see the xenomorph I think is done very well. Because you know what the game is before you bought it. You’re expecting to see the Xenomorph. And even if someone tells you it’s gonna be a while before you see it you’re not quite sure how long a while is going to be for you personally and the longer this goes on without you seeing the Xenomorph the more tense and stressful it gets.

Same here. I found it rather enjoyable and didn’t have any bugs that I can recall. I like this video, but I think they were bringing a lot of preconceived notions to what the game should have been, instead of what it was. They wanted it to be a slower paced survival horror experience, but that’s not what it was. Non-Xenomorph enemies are included to add variety I would guess. Fire Team Elite did the same.
For what its worth i had a blast with the multiplayer. The issue is that Colonial Marines clearly wasnt made with a lot of love.

@3:53 was my first Alien game on the Apple //c in the early 80s. Not sure if it's as good as I remember, but I thought it was great at the time and made me feel on edge playing. It was hard, but I do remember getting to the end with the power loader and I thought it was awesome seeing Ripley's famous line encountering the queen on the game.

Check out the Aliens Vs Predator games. All three have Xenomorphs campaigns.
The best one was Aliens Vs Predator 2 2001 which allowed you to play through all the major life cycles of a Xenomorph too. Including the chest bursting part.
Unfortunately, AVP 2 is not available on Steam unlike the 1st and 3rd games.

The very first one on the commodore was actually a pretty good strategy game so don’t judge it by the graphics.

I already wanted to comment for normal times, but youtube algorithm loves it, so...
The part where isolation takes a significantly long amount of time before you even see the xenomorph I think is done very well. Because you know what the game is before you bought it. You’re expecting to see the Xenomorph. And even if someone tells you it’s gonna be a while before you see it you’re not quite sure how long a while is going to be for you personally and the longer this goes on without you seeing the Xenomorph the more tense and stressful it gets.
