I think I was the Bard in the bugbear story because I have an eerily similar one from my first campaign.

Y’know, I’ve yet to get a player ask if they can disarm traps.
They just try to activate it while nobody is in the danger zone.

Don't need to disarm the trap if there is no trap!

We were trapped by orcs, including a shaman
    We were screwed
    Until...
My bard (the worst bard in the realm) suggested a command performance
The show involved dirty limericks, about a young lady with a rather nasty habbit, involving a frog, a chicken and a rabbit...
It was dreadful, (I really can't sing) but a Nat 20 charisma check led to the worst bard in the realm being the first rock star the sword coast has to offer🤟

It's mostly just flavor, but it's what the whole character is about, so...
We play as a group, working for a non-government organization and solving troubles others can't solve for different reasons. I play as an artificer. Our first task - pretend to be drow prisoners to locate their hideout. I pretend to be the creator of a warforged party member (the player is he/him, and the character has no gender and doesn't care about pronouns) and claim to be the only one who can fix him. But I still can't get instruments (artificers are super rare in the game world, and a toolkit as a spellcasting focus isn't any obvious, so I guess everyone just forgot in and out of the game). DM says that I can cast my spells, but only if I can come up with an explanation of how in the world I do it. So, I band said warforged plates with my bare hands to remove pressure from his biological parts (Cure Wounds) and make something between armor and skin graft using cloth, whitewash, [possibly] urine (I got no answer if I had access to water) and my own blood and skin stem cells (Aid).
It was a lot of fun, especially as I had to leave earlier to get to my train, and I could be involved while I couldn't be online.

I love creative explanations for spells. I have a plague doctor character who's a grave domain cleric, and for the most part his spells are all medicinal and alchemical solutions instead of magic, and the knowledge and skill to create these powerful brews was granted to him by his deity. Love those kinds of things!
