'Light Emitting Soldering Iron' - hilarious. Whoever said that Germans have no sense of humour never met Detlef.
Heya, love the interactine between the bothe of you. and in this format like a livesttream is great love it. detlef gone e-mail you for an idee I got in this video
great one - university Düsseldorf is the sponsor.
Also, have you considered building circuit design trainer? The big tech companies produce them but the asking price makes them cost prohibitive.
They are simply large breadboards surrounded by modules of pre connected Pots, Op amps, and every other discrete component you can imagine.
To set yours apart , add a way to display or project a schematic or block diagram onto the breadboard. You could display complete or incomplete circuits and the user could attempt to complete the diagram. Interconnect them via WiFi and compete against others.
Do a double sided board with vias and both silk screens, then can flip over for block or schematic view. Might be a hassle with through hole components but could be ok if all smd. Could also put some standoffs on the corners if using through hole components.
24:30 I think that silkscreen idea is almost ok. The opamp symbol should also show the pin numbers and the resistors etc should be positioned next to the actual pins on the chip. But op-amps are really simple and have 4 or more of the same circuit inside so you should try to use all 4 circuits simultaneously. The through-hole parts like resistors etc can go into single machine pin sockets so any part can be swapped without soldering. Another way would be just use a breadboard and all you have to do is provide an infinite number of pdfs that can be printed out and laid on top of the breadboard and components pushed through where the printout has the parts. But really all of that can be simulated in software on a PC using free circuit modelling software. I don't think it's particularly helpful to produce a fixed-function PCB for learning simple stuff like that. I guess you're trying to reproduce the fun learning experience we had as a kid ~40+ years ago with those 100-in-1 electronic learning kits. They were interesting but I'm not sure the kids of today would accept them. Use a cheap breadboard with a printout overlay and then later design a more useful pcb that does something constructive that uses the parts you just learned about. For opamp testing you could make a board so they can be plugged in and tested. If you look on Ali you will find one that sells for a few dollars that can do that and has sockets for several common opamps like lm358, tl074, lm324 etc
Very entertaining .
a 6-pin locking DIN socket
Thanks
Thinking out loud can be fruitful.
When showing the pc screen, could you increase the mouse pointer size to "2", and use "invert". It's almost impossible for my old eyes to see where the mouse pointer is with the default mouse settings. 👍
Fair comment
Pulsed DC can be switched off using T1, that wouldn't work with AC.
don't forget the current mode in it too that one does not do current measurments and that is a letdown
If you do build a project that uses MAINS voltage, can you make it dual voltage so that people in the US could build it too? Thanks.
Keep in mind some projects won't work on 110. A small autotransformer may be a useful investment for a small project.
Not that I know what I'm talking about but could the chopper in the soldering controller project also have to do with interference? If you're sending high frequency PWM over the cable into the tip, might this mess up your lab with RF noise?
But given the cost of beefy transformers nowadays, finding a way to make it work with an SMPS might be an interesting mod. People could get started with just an old ATX PSU (has 5V and 12V and usually the necessary amps). And if they need more watts later, they can upgrade to a 24V supply.
Yeah we talked about that later. Best bet is to find some old car battery chargers or similar power supplies at the car boot sale so I'm gonna take a look. If we were right about the way it operates then we would have to rewrite the code for the MCU to get it to run at high frequency PWM, if it will. Also old scrap UPS should have at least 220V-12V output transformers and I guess two could be used in series to give 24V AC, taking care to get the phase correct The original design must have been like this for a reason. Old scrap PA amplifiers are also a good source but usually the transformer output voltage is too high
@@LearnElectronicsRepair Couldn't you just fool the MCU into thinking it's got a transformer? If all it's looking for is the point of 0V on the input, wouldn't a square wave suffice? Using a 555 and a mosfet to get something like PWM at 100Hz with a ~99% duty cycle?
@@Foobar_The_Fat_Penguin Hmmmm....
More likely the chips were defective at the factory ~30 years ago and someone scabbed them out of the bin and sold them. You should test chips using your Retro Chip Tester.... there's no need to guess.
As I recall, he tested them with a circuit from the data sheet but wasn’t able to use any of his chip testers because this chip wasn’t listed as an acceptable chip to be tested.
@@mikebond6328 Correct. I think the Retro Chip Tester does test 4047 but needs an adapter . Mine still isn't complete, I need to order one more part and I keep forgetting
Can the 555 timer produce a 250Khz signal?
Wonder why so many people claim not to be able to get even 100 Khz from a 555 timer. Maybe an effect of the fake chip plague.
Looks like we had it running faster than that in this video, around 312KHz at one point
In KiCAD it is easy to draw this
For some reason Det has a dislike for KiCAD. I think it's OK
@@LearnElectronicsRepair ;-) use it the new 8.02 is great (i startet with ver 5) after 10 min you forget Eagle ;-)
@@hschack - for some strange reason my mind is incompatible with kiCad. If I would want to switch to a new EDA software, I'd probably go for Altium - but for now I'm happy with EasyEDA. And the effort of learning a different software package for this one project is simply not feasable.
how about a class H amplifier ???
what happend with the live stream ??? thought it was every 2 weeks and that was last sunday but no stream !! ??
We were told at the end of the live stream on 28th April, that the next would be a week after that on 5th May. Unfortunately Carlos had back problems so couldn't make it, so it was cancelled. Next live stream is due on 19th May. I will be out that day, so will miss it. :(
The original schedule was 7 April, 21 April, 5 May, 19 May...
The one on 21 April was postponed to 28 April.
The one on 5 May was cancelled, not postponed.
So now we are back to the original schedule.
@@chrishartley1210 Yeah correct. Also Det and myself were out filming with Julie on the Maspalomas Pride the weekend 11th/12th May for @GranCanariaUncovered That''s one reason why we didn't postpone 5th May as it would have clashed. Carlos may need surgery so this could be an ongoing problem but hopefully we can keep to schedule from now on.
