Man what a video! We just played a show in Zurich with great other artists and I‘m watching this on the way home. I had a very similar discussion today with a guy from another band and we came to the conclusion that songwriting is kinda like a twitching muscle. You can train a muscle and it will get faster and stronger. But it’s still gonna twitch from time to time and you gotta let it twitch, because that twitch might just give you the movement that you need!

I absolutely love this. You gotta let it twitch. That's actually really really good 💪

Incredible video. High quality production, great content, and an amazing message. I love your perspective and your elegance in delivery, for it takes a divine eye to tune into the essential beauty of great artists and articulate it in such a clear way.

So cool you cited Joni. Totally agree re imaginative lyrics. I like your Swamp Car Crash lyrics. Joni would now tie those ideas to an equally imaginative metaphorical chorus that tells us what a swamp, car and crash really mean. And whatever she decides they mean - she sells it emotively - so now I feel the same way about clouds as she does. No matter how absurd the lyric - she sells us. She does the same brilliant imaginative thing with her melodies/phrasing, music/sounds making her songs otherworldly.

Yeah. She's an absolute hero of lyrics and melody. She's often heralded as one of the greatest songwriters of all time and yet she still feels underrated somehow. A true artist in every sense of the word!

More or less my 25 first songs are this is what I am and this is what I do.
I just made 15 song home-live recording yesterday.
About being street musician, about songwriting and about organic gardening.

Imagine what the first songs revealed about their singers! How those grunts and chirps included, listeners or not, in the common understanding emblematic of the tribal experience and the shout out to unseen managers of the forces. And how different the parameters of personal and social acceptance, now. Yet we stand on their shoulders via unrecorded developement. And if we could hear each other we'd probably all say: What the...? I imagine...they saying you try too hard, you invent all these words and wear them down to the nub saying less the more you say." Lol

This is a fantastic video. I always imagined it as being an extraordinarily talented basketball player. You practice, you play. A lot. The magic championship saving moments are not consciously thought, but ready to be embodied by a mind that's prepared for that moment to take advantage of. Also, lets drive a Silverado into a swamp. Way better than driving one to a boring dry levy.

Haha - thanks dude. The sports metaphor is great. I have to imagine its the same for any high level execution of special skill. You can't let go until you've got a firm grasp. The letting go is where the interesting bits are. Totally forgot about "drove my chevy to the levy" lol.
