- Quick video showing how to install a 2 channel dash cam on a 2023 CRV Hybrid Sport.
Disclaimer: I am by no means a professional installer. I do not recommend installing the dash cam cables over the airbag as I did in this video. It was my work around to have my dash cam installed myself, but is not recommended.
Install at your own risk.

My wife just bought a 2024 CR-V Sport-L Hybrid. We have a cheaper 70mai dashcam installed using your directions. I really appreciate you finding the fuse box locations. Saved me a lot of time. Thanks a lot.
I did my 2024 CRV touring Hybrid today, went very good the video was very helpful especially the fuses. On the back up camera I used a bit different method worked like charm. I used a long zip tie to push through bottom to top the ties some fishing line to the end of the tie and the camera plug making sure to wrap and tie to the end of the plug so would pull straight and it was a breeze. Thanks for posting.
Great work around! Glad the video was useful.
Ma man! Thank you for this video. May u3000 will come this week. This video is giving me confidence that i can do it :)
I been watching your video over and over because i bought the same dashcam as you and am waiting on my 2024 CR-V Sports-L to come in. I bought the additional low profile fuse tap you linked too. Hope I got everything i need, thanks for the video!
Awesome! I hope it’s easy for you! If you have any questions feel free to hit me up!
@@MrAngeeeeeeel Hows the set up working for you right now? any problems? wondering when I do this if i should just turn off the parking mode so I don't drain my battery.
@@iichristiaNn zero problems so far, I had the same setup on my 2018 Accord and had zero issues.
@@MrAngeeeeeeel Finally got my car and dash cam in. How did you get the wire into the fuse tap?
@@iichristiaNn I used a wire stripper tool that has a crimping end. I didn’t add any tape to hold it, just crimped it to the wire tap.
Wonderful video. I couldn't have wired my fuses correctly without your walkthrough!
Glad I could help!
Thank you so much for this video. I installed a fitcamx in my 2023 Sport Touring Hybrid and this video was an absolute must watch. The installation is so clean and seeing you take off the panels in the back was very helpful. My install is so clean and is practically invisible.
Thank you, Glad I could help!
Can you please tell me that you used the hard wire kit or not.. Is that with 24 hour surveillance or not?
@@gurmejsingh96I believe most, if not, all BlackVue cameras come with a hardwire kit. You’d have to find one specific to the camera you plan on installing. I would suggest checking out your camera’s manufacturers site.
I did not use hardwire kit, so it my FitcamX only records while car is on.@@gurmejsingh96
Hi, I am currently considering which dash cam I should buy for my 2024 CR-V SPORT, and I also noticed fitcamx. Could you tell me is fitcamx's built-in dash cam suitable for your car and it there any problem you can tell? Thank you.
Thank you. You saved my money and time!
Glad I could help!
Thanks to you, I couldn't have done it that fast without your instructions even though I’m a mechanic (the stupid one).
Hey, no shame! Everyone needs a little help sometimes! Glad I could be of assistance!
Hello. Just watched video which is very helpful. Was looking to see best way to pull rear hatch trim. Just wanted to mention that fuse taps are directional. You have one in one direction and the other in the opposite direction meaning only one is pulling power from the proper leg and using both fuses separately. The other is going to be drawing both loads (original and dashcam) across the main fuse. You may wish to consider using a test light to determine which side is supply from fuse box and orient both fuses in proper direction. Hope this helps. Thanks again for posting the video.
They were both tested, that’s why I mentioned that in the video because some people might think that they need to be facing the same way. Mine were installed as stated in my video based on the side that the power was being delivered to.
My apology. Was fast forwarding around when I watched and must have missed that aspect. Thanks for replying. Will need to check my own as well.
Explained very clearly 😊
on red wire you put 10 and 2 and yellow did you put anything on it?
Thanks for your video. I followed exactly how you did it. Looks like its still the only 2023 crv dash cam installation video. What did you set the low voltage cut off for the parking mode? Did u have any issues and had to changed the value?
My camera has is integrated with its app functions mine in set at “under 12V” plus I have my parking mode to only activate when it detects movement. I haven’t had any issues.
Nice video bro! Waiting on my new crv to do the same thing, it would be nice if you explain with more details about the fuse box, and what the numbers 17 and 45 are for in the car? I know there is one that need energy even when the car is off right? I know is hard to do it while recording but it would help me a lot! 🤙
Appreciate you! I did mention it rather quickly, but to clear it up: fuse slot 17 is the constant (always on) and slot 45 is the accessory on. Under the steering column there is the fuse schematic. Also, take a look at the owners manual which will tell you the correct amp location and grade.
Pause at 11:04.
Starting from the top left: fuse 17 is empty for me but is located in the third column second fuse location down (the one that starts the 4 empty locations.
Fuse 45 is the one right under the only 5A fuse in use.
@@MrAngeeeeeeel on fuse 17 you have 2 fuses in the tap despite missing a fuse. Any reason and do I need to go buy a fuse and make sure there are 2 in the tap?
@@sk3ezer it was just a precaution on my part since the fuse is a relay for 20A. I put a 20A in the primary slot and a 2A in the secondary slot for the camera.
Thanks for doing the video.. Did your camera kit have a fuse connector standard or did you have to add the fuse connect on . Also , if you had to add the fuse connector then how do you know how the wires line up with the new few adapter. I am sure there will be different color wires . If they were all the same color I think that would be great but I notice for some reason in the past many wires are not the same color as the new or the product you are wiring to. Thanks again
I ordered one myself, check out the video description to get the correct fuse tap kit.
In order to properly connect the fuse to the fuse box you will need a fuse tester. You can get a cheap one from Amazon or your local auto shop. When you put your fuses into the actual tap itself the only thing that matters is that the original is in the slot closest to the prongs and the fuse for the dash cam is in the rear slot (doesn’t matter if the number is facing you or away from you).
Most dash cam wires will come labeled as “Batt” and “ACC+”, that will be how you determine where to put the tap. The “Batt” wire will go to your constant (always on) fuse, your “ACC+” will go to a fuse that receives power when your car turns on. Only way to test that is with a tester.
Thanks for this video! I’m wanting to install a cam in my Sport Touring, but am hella nervous about it. Though, after watching your video, it seems that wiring for the rear cam is the hardest part. Did you leave the relief cut open like that or did you seal the opening with something like electrical tape?
I just put a light coat of super glue. Electrical tape can work too.
@@MrAngeeeeeeelThanks, man. I’ll keep you posted!
I recently added it to my 2023 Touring Sport and I put the rear camera on the inside of the car on the rear window through the rubber going to the window heater. Ran from top down the side to the front of my car. No wires seen works fine, the only issue was finding a fuse with constant power on the Hybrid
@@phunperson64 this is a great solution vs the way I did it!
@@phunperson64About to install Front/Rear on my 2024 Touring. I am guessing you had to buy the additional fuse wiring kit (~ $30), correct? Also, did you find a specific set of fuses that worked for you?
Thanks bro very informative…
Thank you 🫡
Thanks for the video , I got a 2023 Honda Accord and I am pretty sure the fuse-box set up and this installation should be the same. You have a low profile tap, correct?
Yessir! Check my link in the description for the correct one!
@@MrAngeeeeeeel if only I would have looked further than the video.. :) Thanks!
@@curtism7302 no worries! Hope your install goes good!
Does anyone know how to remove the long bar fuses located in the box in the engine compartment?
you are the GOAT
Can you please record in day time so we can see clearly?
Can you please share link of steer wheel cover😊
Also, for the fuse you connector you used, did you wire it to a fuse outlet that was always on or one that turned on when the car is turned on? Thanks
Replied to your original comment 👍🏽
It’s now been 3 months since you installed/posted this video. Are there any issues you encountered with regard to the hardwire installation so far? No check engine? No blown fuse? Thank you.
No issues whatsoever.
Going across the top of the A pillar does take the cable over top of the air bag. Going down the window / A Pillar interface and across the bottom, misses the air bags.
Correct, in the video I put it over but eventually went back to run the cable around it.
Thank you for the video. The slot 46 is unused in the fuse box and behaves as ACC. Can that be used?
Should be able to, as long as it is getting current.
I follow your step by step installing my dascah/wirings. But the problem is, 17 is empty no fuse on it. Is there any spare fuse to use? Thanks
You can use an extra fuse from your hood fuse compartment.
@@MrAngeeeeeeel dont know exactly where is it and i cant identify which is the extra fuse in me. Im just a typical driver dont know alot about car troubleshooting sorry 😁.
My question is, there is a camera behind the mirror to for the lane keep assist isn't the dasher cam blocking it?
Negative, the dash cam does not interfere with LKAS. I’ve had this setup for 1 year now, and had the same setup in my 2018 Accord for 5 years, never had an issue.
Should the yellow accessory wire fuse tap also be a gray 2 and red 10 like you did for the red wire?
Yeah, the relay to the camera doesn’t really matter. It just needs something to get electricity to power on.
Hi there, question i got a crv hybrid 2022 here in california. Is the +B trailer fuse is same as your YOP trailer fuse diagram? Hope it the same. Thanks, I keep wathcing this video but im hesitate doing it.
I feel like it should be, “trailer” fuses are typically wired as constant power. Example, if you were to have a trailer attached the lights would activate with the car off and you pressing on the brake. Best practice is to check it though.
How did you get the ground under the bolt? I’m having trouble getting the bolt to come out
If you’re having trouble with where I put my ground, try the ground where I attached my tester. That would also work.
How many pins on the connector for the auto dim rearview mirror? Thanks
It is 8 pin on the 2023 and 2024 models. 7 pin for earlier models.
What amp fuse did you used for the cam i have 5 and 7.5amp is that to high for fuses?
You really only need a 2A but just make sure whatever you use stays under whatever the main fuse that you choose is graded.
@@MrAngeeeeeeel Thanks much for replying
Have HR V 2023.. should be about the same right?
Should be the same concept!
Did you only put 10amp and 2amps fuse in the fuse no. 17?
Yes, I put the 10A for the slot closer to the prongs, and a 2A for the back fuse on both.
Thanks
Why didn’t you use the power from the reading light as it’s so close to the dash cam?
Do you mean as in tapping into the wire directly?
Yes, as I don't need the parking mode. Not sure if it will drain my car battery to death if I don't drive the car often.
@@nextwavel9817 oh okay, im not sure. In that case you might just be able to tap into an Accessory fuse. Personally I wouldn’t tap into a wire directly. Or, of course, just use the cigarette lighter.
Thank you for the video but would gave been way better if you did it on a daylight
Would have, but it’s an easy install so daylight or not the steps are easy to follow.
Can barely make out what you're doing, can you record the video in daylight? Thanks
I tried the way you do it, still no power on my dashcam, i have wolfbox900 ds, i dont know what to do
What fuses are you using on your tap? You might need to use a higher amperage than what I did. As you can see from 11:57-12:20, I used a 2A for my dash cam relay fuse (not in the video but I put a 2A on both the Red and Yellow taps). Try using a 5A. 7A, 10A, etc, in place of the 2A
@@MrAngeeeeeeel boss, try ko ung 10amp and 15amp, still no power, first i thought wire issue, pero if i put my fuse to slot 45, radio umaandar, ill try 20 amp sa slot 45, ok lng ba sa slot 45 is 10 amp then 20 amp? Then sa slot 17, is 15 amp?
@@chiecaz5492 Slot 17 should be a 20A not 15A. Try this if you haven’t already:
Slot 17: 20A in primary position, 5A in Camera Relay position
Slot 45: 10A in primary position, 5A in Camera relay position.
Also be sure to test your fuse input on the fuse box to make sure you’re putting the fuses the right way.
it working now, slot 45, primary 10am and 20amp for cam, i’am not sure if this will cause problem in the future since i put 20 amp for camera.
Slot 17, since it is empty ill put 20 amp as well.
@@chiecaz5492 just make sure your fuse tap can handle that much input!
Glad you got it to work!
Make sure you will not block the airbag.
You need to put the wire behind the air bag! If the air bag goes off it's going to come at you and it could be very very dangerous
This is exactly what i thought. he needs to put the wire behind the airbag (both wires which goes for power as well as which runs to the back). When airbag inflates, he doesn't want the wires to block it
vampire video daylight much better for filming
