Scenic Views: Dhoon Beach, near Kirkcudbright

If you want to spend a few hours relaxing on a beach with free parking, beautiful views, public toilets and secluded areas this is a great place to come. Dhoon Beach, just a few miles outside of Kirkcudbright in Scotland.
We visit here every time we come to Dumfries and Galloway and bring a picnic with us. Our dog loves to play on the beach and we like the secluded area and beautiful views.

I was up there again a couple of weeks ago. It is a lovely place and you can either take the scenic coastal route or stay on the a75 and then cut across. Cream of Galloway ice-cream centre is near there but if it's ice-cream you like and you are traveling past Dumfries to get there, I can recommend Drummuir Farm ice cream centre. Good size portions, lovely tasting and decent value. There are some fantastic scenic drives in that part of the world.
