I just wanted to say that I really enjoy your content. I have been in the Corps now for 22 years. Both enlisted and officer. I went to boot at Parris Island back in 1998. Hearing you and your buddies relive your experience brings joy that the Corps seems to have maintained the standard over all this time. I still command Marines and am impressed at the quality of the product. I really hope the Corps does not have an issue with you running this channel. I think you are doing a great service to those that just want to know more or are training and planning a career in the military. I hope you keep it up, stay positive, and I wish you the best n your future career, whether it be 4 years or 40. I may jump in from time to time and comment on those asking about officer programs. I took that path as a sergeant and know the pros and cons of both the E and O side.
Curtis South thank you for sharing sir and for the support! I base this channel mostly on the little details I wish I was aware of before the military and the information I was looking for. Hope you have a great day sir and that would be awesome for you to help out with those interested in the officer route 🙏
Semper Fi Marine. Nice to see a seasoned Officer supporting these young Devil Dogs. I was in '96 to 2000. Motor - T Officer. Was one of the greatest privileges of my life to serve with and lead Marines (Truck Company, Headquarter Battalion, 1st Marines).
Realizing boot camp was a lot simpler in a sense that it was cut and dry all laid out for you. All you had to do was do what you’re told, move fast and with purpose and just scream at the top of your lungs. The fleet really put your integrity and motivation to the test. I learned that having a strong “WHY” will help give you that drive again. Mine was family and looking out for my marines. Hated seeing NCOs that went on mad power trips or just didn’t really look out for/stand up for their marines. They were the real dirt bags in my eyes. “Emulate the type of leader you wanted” was my mindset. 🤙🏽 sorry for that rant, much loves from Guam 🇬🇺
I went to boot camp in Parris Island in 1985. To anyone out there going in, if I could make it through, you can. I was 5'7" and 120 lbs. It's mostly mental. The only physical thing I personally struggled with was running. I made it through everything except the 2 mile rifle run with boots and cammies. That was the only thing I fell back on and didn't complete. I paid for it later.
I asked my friend if he would do boot camp again and he goes “fuck yeah!” haha he said it was the easiest thing he’s done thus far. He’s been out in the fleet for 2 years
I’m going the 29 this month and I got to say I don’t hardly ever like any youtubers vids just because I usually forget but you do such a good job I have to thank you for getting me more prepared!

Camp Fuji Okinawa was a good duty station for me. I take your in Jacksonville. I now live in the Panhandle of Florida. Panama City Beach. The Marine Corps gave me the training to work undercover for over 20 years for the FBI.
Just finished up MCT last Wednesday after being sent straight there from PI with no boot leave because of corona, so I'm still pretty fresh on remembering how much it sucked. ABSOLUTE WORST PART IS: Straight up being surrounded by 6 Drill Instructors for 16 hours a day (18 if you're lucky enough to get 2 hours FW). Imagine a place with no concept of privacy or chill moments at all. A place where you ask your SDI to let you make a head call just for your heavy to rush in and count you down from 200 as soon as you sit down on the toilet, or from 100 as soon as you stand in front of a urinal. Is it hard for you to piss while a big ass jacked Kill Hat is screaming at you an inch away from your ear? If so you better figure that shit out or you'll be in some pain for a while. Pro-tip for you future recruits, get really good at standing behind your rack and acting like you're tightening up straps during early morning cleanup, depending on the phase and the DI you can also try laying under the rack and acting like you're tucking in the sheets as tight as you can, you'll most likely get an instant IT session after a swift kick to the thigh, but those 15 seconds or so of laying down before you get caught are totally worth it. Good luck Devil-Pups, don't be a bitch just do your time like everyone else. (Ps. MCT sucks too but you get to do real Marine shit, a little bit more fun and a fraction more of freedom. Just pray you don't end up in MCT East Golf Co. like I did)
The only thing I'm scared of is not being able to get a good PFT score on the running and pull ups everything else I'm excited for .Been wanting to be a marine forever .Im 21 now and have some legal problems I'm Working on rn but love your videos brother!
Only thing I’m worried about are pushups and pull-ups because I was never taught how to do them correctly. Running I can do I can do a lot of things however doing a proper push-up when you’ve been taught wrong your whole life is hard as fuck.
I think the most difficult time was during mess n maintenance, moving into one squadbay and the head was on the opposite side. Get up to Piss in the middle of the night, hurry to the exit sign, turn around and run across 🤣😬

When I was about 15, mom and I were watching General Hospital or something like that. During the commercial, she goes, "This is how you go through tear-gas. This is what they taught me in the Corps." They just marched the ladies into a chamber with no masks and had them march around for a while till they got good and sick. Then they took them out and told them what to do, and then marched them back through again. "Don't breathe deep and blink your eyes like hell". Okay mom, can we go back to Luke and Laura now?

Lemme tell you something about whether I'd do it over again. I began to really miss the Corps about 10 years out. The world was just jacked up in 2010. I had lost my job a few times by then and the world is just a swampland! Yeah the Marine Corps has it shit but the brotherhood is like no other. Marine corps families get along. I miss some of the order. The Marines get shit done and there are so many weak individuals in the world to deal with that honestly, I'd do boot camp again just to be an active Marine again. For some, everything works out in life after the Corps, maybe people get rich after the Corps and maybe there's enough conflict of interest to not want to do it again. I miss the nostalgia of the Corps, I even miss the smells or CLP and bulldog aftershave. I actually bought some Bulldog at the PX at MCRD when I visited after being out for 13 years. I also wish I went ground side instead of wing. It gets super relaxed in the wing. Not that I didn't enjoy it, slipping coveralls over nothing but boxers and white socks, green tee. I was C-130s so no boats. That would have been a nice experience too. You'll miss alot of it. 20 years down the road.
Josh Atchison thank you for sharing sir! It’s nice to see veterans perspectives. I’m really enjoying the order of the corps. I’m around navy and Airforce all the time here and notice the huge difference. Wouldn’t want to be apart of another branch
@@simeon_kurosky try to be nice to the chair force. They don't know any better. Don't try to give them a class on how to March. Just take their women. 😆
If I enlist with a 4 year contract, will I be able to go to college right after serving 4 years and join ROTC to become an officer? I'm 18, hoping to enlist and go to college also.
Yes.Once your initial contract is up you can do whatever you want. You are out and can attend any college you like and participate in ROTC if you choose. BUT, you don’t have to do ROTC. The most common Marine Corps ROTC program is call the Platoon Leaders Course (PLC). You are a normal college student and not in any ROTC but you attend Officer Candidate School (OCS) during your summers. You can do two 6-week OCS courses or one 10-week course. The day you graduate college and earn your bachelors degree, you can commission as an officer. This is what I did. I wouldn’t waste your time with ROTC.
Yes, exactly like u said in this video, "You should joined the Air Force." I can share my USAD experience. DOD provides great quality of life in the AF. Some AF-specific opportunities really surpass some in other branches. USAF uses its 3 components pretty equally: Active Duty, AF Reserve, Air National Guard. Even in Reserve & Guard, some Airmen can get Active Duty status assignments. If enlisting in Guard, you can pick the base in the state u want & pick an open job u want (w/good ASVAB score) all before taking the Oath. B4 signing contract, I interviewed w/a Major (who later became my direct supervisor in Finance), I liked him & his explanation of the AFSC (=MOS) so I returned to recruiting to sign my 6+2=8 year contract at age 17 w/6mths HS left to finish, I did MEPS, got ID, began drill, rank & pay immediately (like DEP prog) while continuing HS & my civ job, until Boot Camp-TX & Tech tng-Biloxi. PCS to home station & only missed 1st semester @ university south of Chicago (near base & parents). National Guard gave me nearly all control over my military & civilian life for 6 yrs (yrs 7-8 were in Reserve as inactive standby). I served 1991-99. In '94 I volunteered for a classified assignment requiring my job specialty & a Secret Clearance that I had. It was located in a locked vault @ THE PENTAGON. My Major signed/funded my TDY Orders, civ flight, hotel on Potomac River & rental car in VA to see DC (after duty hrs). I took tour inside FBI HQ, US Capitol, Smithsonian, Wash Monument etc, even was accidentally detained detained @ CIA HQ. At Pentagon, a Lt Col gave me a personal tour of the 17 miles of office space, I saw the JCS & a slew of generals + I met the general/Director of the National Guard Bureau (for whom I worked this TDY project). Very cool as a lowly E-4 at the time (I made SSgt b4 discharge.) My Chgo boss was Base Comptroller who authorized all my TDYs/travel, BAH/BAS). The Lt Col invited me to return the nxt summer for a project on Andrews AFB @ Air National Guard Readiness Center + hotel & rental car again...I went to Arlington, photographed dignitaries meeting USMC Officers, then viewed the awesome USMC silent drill team tossing/catching rifles @ Iwo Jima memorial. Unlike most Air or Army Nat'l Guardsman, I used each summer off from college to switch to an active ID & status @ my home station for 3 mths (if not on TDY). Home stationed @ HQ 126th Air Refueling Wing, our fleet of KC-135 Stratotankers often deployed, so I flew Space-A on a mission frm Chgo to Grand Cayman Island & laid on rear floor of plane with the boom operator as he connected us to refuel each jet in a squadron of F-16s (1 dual-seat F-16 had a flight surgeon reservist who requested I take mid-air pics of him in cockpit. 4 days on Cayman Island-I drank legally @ age 20-lol. Worst sunburn in my life! We & fighters flew back over Cuba in gulf. In total, I served almost 2 (of my 6) yrs on "active duty" as AGR, deployed or dual civil service Air Technician (GS) for Dept of AF. The point is: in my 6 yrs, I was lucky to serve/earn far more than a typical Nat'l Guardsmen (who does 1 wkend/mth+2 wks/yr). Plus I earned my free (GI Bill) Bachelors Degree concurrently while switching diff military statuses. I'd be @ college parties w/my roommate (also an Airman @ the base) & we'd talk to girls...military often came up in conversation & I'm no recruiter, but the military benefits were so attractive, our college party chats drew over 3 students to pause college, enlist in Air Nat'l Guard, go to Basic & Tech training & return to university, missing just 6 mths. Hitting on girls earned me the new recruiting ribbon, go figure. So just 1 example of what an Air Force experience can be (Pentagon flying on military aircraft, cross training, TDY to other bases & working down the hall from our Wing Commander, a Brig General who addressed me on a 1st name basis daily!) I'm sure Navy, MC, Army also have cool stories also. Thx for posting your USMC experiences!
15 planning on joining right after highschool your videos inspire me and I think you should have a lot more subs I’m planning on doing recon what’s your mos just wondering?
For The Corps appreciate the support sir! A lot of bases are still able to get haircuts but we don’t have any barbers as of right now here. They’re working on it tho!
@@simeon_kurosky I was just wondering..your buddies hair was long as hell! Thought he had a waiver or something lol. Congrats on becoming a Marine though man! We wrote are names on tape and put the tape on our masks. They took our masks into the chamber and placed them in a pile. We had to go in find our mask and clear it and come out and get into formation.
I know the "crucible" is a thing. I am an old man. I went to San Diego. Where on San Diego is there a place for an evolution like the "crucible". Was it done at Camp Pendleton? PLT 1076, 1988
I'm working on enlisting into the USMC. I can do fantastic close grip pullups both under and overhand but suck at wide grips, I can do a lot of crunches fairly quickly and can run 2 miles in about 14 minutes. However I'm a skinny dude, I am not sure whether I'll bulk up or look like a skeleton after boot
The fastest I’ve ever ran 2 miles was in 10 mins that shit bro I pushed myself to the brink that day and ran with no sleep because I was going to stay up so I could run the next day and that’s why I did. It was pretty fun and I can’t wait to graduate highschool because I’ve wanted to join the marines for quite a long time now
I heard you guys on base are on lockdown. When does the lockdown end? Because my cousin is in the marines and he’s on a base in california and i really wanna see him and talk to him but don’t know when they are allowed to leave.
What’s the best workout plan to get ready for boot camp. I have 3 years till I’m eligible..Technically 2 but I want to join right after high school. Just looking for fitness and workout tips.
Is there a swimming portion in Bootcamp? And About the classroom portion, is it just sit and listen , take notes and take a test later or is it Like full high school style class for a time?
I like to do both aswell, just don’t get in the habit of running a super slow pace when you do a lot of distance. You have to work on reaching and maintaining a fast pace for when the PFT comes around
I broke up with my girlfriend she was clingy af which is not good for any military branch she rebounded to some guy two weeks after we broke up so I can imagine what would happen in an 8-13 week period
Brandon Cotrufo I don’t practice crunches often. I like to do harder variations like hanging leg raises. Crunches are bad on your lower back. But if you want to perfect them for the PFT that’s fine
Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your a** you’d likely gain weight depending on your metabolism. There were skinny guys in my platoon that gained a lot of weight
Omar Fathalla do a lot of cardio and bodyweight training. Don’t eat a lot of junk food before going. Prepare to be patient, move non stop, being u comfortable, and having no privacy. But it’s only temporary don’t worry about it 👌🏼
You will almost definitely be the oldest recruit in your company and I think that may be a good thing for you. As they mentioned in the video, one of the hardest things to cope with is being away from family. Most recruits are 18-21 and have never spent more than a week away from family and friends. I assume that at 28, you have a lot more life experience than most and will be less affected by homesickness. You have had jobs, dealt with adversity, worked for others and possibly had them work for you. I recommend you become a mentor for them. Some of the mental games will not affect you as much. You will be older than most of your DIs. Use that calmness and insight to help your buddies cope with the stressors that they are dealing with. Be the calm in the storm.
Joseph Gomwalk summer seems to be a lot bigger platoons and warmer. I went in the winter and missed Christmas, New Years, Valentines, and a lot of stuff haha. It got pretty cold too sometimes. I heard the east coast is terribleeee during the winter

Darth Vader might be able to brother. But I don’t have the exact answer for that! Ask your recruiter and he’ll let you know! Good luck ✊🏻
OCS not rotc once ur in
U wouldn’t go to ROTC once enlisted
Correction: PLC is not an ROTC program...should read “the most common COMMISSIONING PROGRAM is called the PLC.”
“ just full send it “ 😂😂
Just watching some of the vids bro but don’t give up the vids I kno it’s hard to find time but try being consistent with the vlogs
Manny CWL will do brother. Appreciate the support
Love the Jacob Black Alpha in the back. Team werewolf! :P Take the shirts off! ;]=
I have a question: Did they clean up their language? Like cussing?
Very helpful video once again! Thanks!
Adam Packard glad u enjoyed it brother! ✊🏻
Bro I watched your shit before I shipped and now I’m also a marine so it’s weird

Are they not requiring haircuts now because of this Coronavirus? Great video btw and Semper Fi bud!🇺🇸
I've been following your journey for a little while and recently started my own channel.
Keep up the great work and feel free to reach out if you ever need anything!

Great video. Brings back memories. Thanks for doing it. How did ya feel at the top of Reaper? Hope ya get Miramar.
Jason Brown amazing feeling once we reached the top. It was all worth it for sure! 🙏
They still call ya Hollywood Marines?@@simeon_kurosky
Jason Brown yes most of the time they do haha
We wrote are names on tape and put the tape on our masks. They took our masks into the chamber and placed them in a pile. We had to go in find our mask and clear it and come out and get into formation.
I know the "crucible" is a thing. I am an old man. I went to San Diego. Where on San Diego is there a place for an evolution like the "crucible". Was it done at Camp Pendleton? PLT 1076, 1988
I’m leaving in two months to San Diego
Julian P good luck brother ✊🏻
Catch me at Church 👀 Leaving Aug 2nd
I'm working on enlisting into the USMC. I can do fantastic close grip pullups both under and overhand but suck at wide grips, I can do a lot of crunches fairly quickly and can run 2 miles in about 14 minutes. However I'm a skinny dude, I am not sure whether I'll bulk up or look like a skeleton after boot
The fastest I’ve ever ran 2 miles was in 10 mins that shit bro I pushed myself to the brink that day and ran with no sleep because I was going to stay up so I could run the next day and that’s why I did. It was pretty fun and I can’t wait to graduate highschool because I’ve wanted to join the marines for quite a long time now
The only thing I'm worried about is swimming I cannot swim at all.
Hey I was wondering if I should go to college before I join or while I am in the military. Please let me know what you think
I have a question...when are you going to pick up rank?
Vic Tor next week brother
I heard you guys on base are on lockdown. When does the lockdown end? Because my cousin is in the marines and he’s on a base in california and i really wanna see him and talk to him but don’t know when they are allowed to leave.
7 Gapstanders not sure hour it is over in Pendleton but I heard things are starting to get a lot better
I didn’t fall in the slide for life that thing was easy 😂
I ship Monday
Stay motivated ✊️
For a woman 21 and over what is the minimum number of pull-ups?
lex S 11 max and 3 minimum I believe. If you can’t do that you can do pushups instead
What’s the best workout plan to get ready for boot camp. I have 3 years till I’m eligible..Technically 2 but I want to join right after high school. Just looking for fitness and workout tips.
Running and calisthenics...
holy shit bruh yall at cherry point NC i was just there wtf
I want to see more and share it with young men.
3 handsome Marines.
@Ultraseal41 . So what's your point?
Do you enjoy being in the Marines?
Is there a swimming portion in Bootcamp? And About the classroom portion, is it just sit and listen , take notes and take a test later or is it Like full high school style class for a time?
I’m at Nas Pensacola right now. H brks
MadeIntexas haha hell yeah brother. ✊🏻
Should your run for speed or endurance? Like is it better to have a fast mile time(speed) or run 3-5 miles every day???
Both
I like to do both aswell, just don’t get in the habit of running a super slow pace when you do a lot of distance. You have to work on reaching and maintaining a fast pace for when the PFT comes around
Simeon Kurosky thank you!
DancingWithJayda no problem Jayda 😀
I went on a mcjrotc trip to PI it was crazy
What you said about the gas chamber was facts, I legit ripped off my mask walked out and coughed like twice and felt fine
Yeah wasn’t as intense as I expected
Mexican lives matter! Justice for Vanessa! 🇲🇽
Lmaoo no Jodys gonna be around mines
Kade Rider 😂🤣
I broke up with my girlfriend she was clingy af which is not good for any military branch she rebounded to some guy two weeks after we broke up so I can imagine what would happen in an 8-13 week period
first viewer!
Preston Rust he’ll yeah ✊🏻
Shipping June 8th to Parris Island !
Billy Bob I shipped to PI on June 8th too...22 years ago. Good luck.
Did you had a difficult time with rappelling course
Derek Garza nervous at first but it was a lot of fun! Wanted to do it again ✊🏻
lmfaooo one of the recruits in my platoon shit himself and he got roasted from mct all the way till mos school, poor kid lmao
H Zaragoza ohhh dang there’s always that one guy 😂
Do we have the option to do planks in Bootcamp instead of crunches on the PFT and how did you deal with shin splints and stuff
Brandon Cotrufo as of now I believe they do have the option. But double check with your recruiter before you leave
Simeon Kurosky also how often are you doing crunches
Brandon Cotrufo I don’t practice crunches often. I like to do harder variations like hanging leg raises. Crunches are bad on your lower back. But if you want to perfect them for the PFT that’s fine
Simeon Kurosky sorry I meant during boot camp😂
dream job. semper fi🇺🇸
emily metrejean one day you will just keep training and get ready ✊🏻
I think Jody means the side nigga, I've heard the term in jar head
What if you weigh 120 who can do all 3 pt exercise. Will you lose, maintain, or gain weight after boot camp?
Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your a** you’d likely gain weight depending on your metabolism. There were skinny guys in my platoon that gained a lot of weight
Simeon Kurosky cool. Thank you for your service. Can’t wait to do mine
Im 28 and joing, should be going to Paris Island soon.. any tips?
Curtis South good advice brother
In boot camp are can you bring contact stuff or do I have to wear glasses
Nice vid. New sub.
How do they fit you for your cammies when you first get them at the beginning of boot camp?
Alec DaCunha mostly just look at you and guess on the size then also ask what your waist size is
You’ll try it on really quickly, and if they aren’t the size tell them immediately because you’ll probably never get to change it at that point
I'm scrared of heights, how bad is boot camp
bruh moment the confidence course can be a little scary at first if you’re afraid of heights but you’ll be perfectly fine! Don’t stress it ✊🏻
nice haircuts bro
Bugg Blitz we can’t get cuts here rn otherwise we would have them
TEXAS !!!
What season would you say is the best time to enlist?
Joseph Gomwalk summer seems to be a lot bigger platoons and warmer. I went in the winter and missed Christmas, New Years, Valentines, and a lot of stuff haha. It got pretty cold too sometimes. I heard the east coast is terribleeee during the winter
Simeon Kurosky thank you for that tip😆
Do a bunch of people forget there lock combination
Fucking pogs 😂
👍👍👍
Martinis looks Indian, they bfs?
Did you graduate from San Diego or Paris island
He said he climbed Reaper so he's definitely MCRD-SD/Hollywood
Aidan Ebner yes San Diego brother 🙏
