In December 2018, VIA Rail ordered 32 Venture trainsets from Siemens Mobility to reimagine the way Canadians travel. One of the most environmentally friendly fleets in North America, these trainsets will modernize transportation in Canada for future generations and help the country meet sustainability goals in the fight against climate change.
The 32 trainsets, with associated TSSSA, will result in VIA Rail having one of the most environmentally friendly fleets in North America. Designed for all passenger needs, the trainsets offer an unparalleled, barrier-free and fully accessible travel experience, transforming the journey of Canadians.
In 2022, VIA Rail welcomed passengers on the first new Venture trainsets.

In Canada, Siemens Mobility has been providing solutions to the transportation industry for more than 40 years, including railway infrastructure maintenance services on the rail networks in Quebec and Ontario, light rail vehicles in Edmonton and Calgary, trainsets delivered to VIA Rail Canada, new trainsets for Ontario Northland that will bring back Northeastern passenger rail to Ontario that are expected to be delivered in 2026, an order for locomotives for Montreal’s exo and the rail electrification and overall system maintenance of the light rail transit network in Kitchener-Waterloo. Our footprint also includes dispatching services operated from Dorval, Québec, to more than 25 railways across Canada covering over 3,400 miles of track.

Thank God for Siemens. They not only will play a major role in combating climate change, they are so diverse a company that they save individual lives in the medical realm. My life was saved this year because of medical procedures that followed discovery of tumors using Siemens scanning technology.
