Velma Series Description:
Velma is an American animated mystery horror comedy series based on the character Velma Dinkley from the Scooby-Doo franchise. Developed and created by Charlie Grandy for HBO Max, it stars executive producer Mindy Kaling as the voice of the titular character, with Sam Richardson, Constance Wu and Glenn Howerton in supporting roles. Her brain dead interpretation will not ruin the characters, it will just be a shitty, God awful project that she spearheaded. The characters were around long before she was born, and they will survive long after she dies, and her show will be long forgotten and slip into obscurity. The only way it will be remembered is to bring it up to ridicule and mock her. If anything comes out of this, it will be that she will always be remembered for this blunder.
It's not like she wrote them. She's a producer she isn't writing this. That being said everyone in the production is to blame for this.

The problem is, this story wouldn't still be good even if it wasn't part of the Scooby Doo franchise. The plot is inconsistent and the mystery part feels shallow (the law system of this series is total crap since a person saying they "could have" done the crime is enough to prove them guilty). Most of the characters are mean-spirited with no likable personality traits. The "comedy" part isn't funny and relies on stereotypes or lazy meta humour (as somebody said: "just because you acknowledge your writing is shit doesn't change the fact that your writing is shit"). People wouldn't have hated it as much but it would still have been a bad show.
Great reaction. Early on you said it look like they wanted to make a TV show and the executive said no, then they said let's make it Scooby-Doo related. That's what it feels like to me.

Because like most woke bombs, like Santa Inc., the show treats itself as the climax to plot lines existing in the real world. To the writers, the Velma/Daphne kiss had decades and decades of "real build up." But the harsh truth is that while yes, these imaginary worlds and stories aren't real, fanfiction is _even _*_less_*_ real._ Anyone who watched the original shows and didn't share the headcanon of the new show's writers comes into it with normal expectations and leaves confused and frustrated.
I wonder who Mindy Kaling's actual Daphne and Fred were when she was a kid. I wonder if whatever girl she always wanted to kiss is out there, living her life somewhere, unaware that her old schoolmate is playing out these deep sexual fantasies about her on the world stage.

That was my thought. "And Just Like That..." got a second season renewal because of the sheer volume of people hate watching, plus podcasts, and youtubers watching to react/review episodes. lol
They already confirmed season two. I'm certain it's not because it's a good show and even with all the hate views it's getting it still wouldn't have the numbers to justify it continuing.
Animated shows take forever to make so they likely had two or more seasons banked up for release because they want the audience to hate this and/or hate the past versions this killing their pop culture touchstones.

Both spent too much time actively trying to spit on the fan base of the original works and established characters all in the name of diversity and female empowerment. Willow just pulled this same crap with the same exact results. It's like hiring someone that hates the source material, but expecting them to do it justice and bring in both new and old fans.

Their "budding romance" is so forced lol. When we watched the original Scooby doo nobody thought of Velma and Dafney that way, not even in a joking way because Velma was a nerdy potato where Dafney was the cute girl who only had eyes for Fred. Now they're acting like they're some kind of item in this show.... Non of them even paid attention to Velma her being the odd one out, Fred and Dafney were into each other looking for excuses to run off with each other, and Shaggy was always out with his buddy looking to avoid scary things and finding snacks with Scooby, Velma was by herself not close to any of them.
This is what happens when you have show runners who actively hate both the source material and the fan base.
Had more fun watching this reaction and seeing the pain and torture in his face than I did thinking about watching the show.

the only idea Mindy Kaling had was "why not make Velma and indian girl like me?" and then the ideas stopped there. i really like the character designs, especially Norville. but he is such WASTED POTENTIAL.

the funniest part of this show is that when it was announced with the trailer, some people definitely called this woke, but now that it's out, I've seen them still say it's woke, the woke crowd saying it's not woke enough, and every one in the middle hating it.
Basically this isn't a woke show, it's simply just a bad show. everyone's hating on it. an actually woke VELMA show may have actually been better than whatever this show is.

I’m active in pretty hardcore leftist spaces, and while I haven’t seen the show, the consensus among leftists I know seems to be that it’s typical corporate pandering and bad writing.
People on the right and idiot liberals love to pretend that the left somehow appreciates corporate virtue signaling , but no, we think it’s cringe and annoying. We have a belief system that is inherently suspicious of corporate “activism” and appeals to identitarian politics by economic juggernauts. I mean sure, there will undoubtedly be some idiots who watch the thing or buy the thing because they’ve been fooled into thinking consumer activism is somehow meaningful and not just buying a thing because it nominally “supports the team.” But I don’t claim those idiots, they probably spend most of their time online and don’t engage in actual work.
Yeah, let's be real: People arguing in either defense for WB/HBO or against them “race-swapping” characters to be progressive/woke and trying to "embrace diversity/representation" IS FAR from the reason to why this is happening. I mean, do you really believe that HBO-- WAIT SCRATCH THAT-- HOLLYWOOD gives a damn about diversity, minorities, or representing “the world we live in today”? Absolutely not. All Hollywood cares about is business. And randomly race swapping a character is a great way to drive up business.
Because "for Better or for Worse", it gets a lot of people to talk about their products. Disney for example does this as much as Warner Bros too. Just look at every official Disney remake Facebook/Twitter page. Usually when seeing "first look images" of what movie or show is gonna look like, you start with the characters. Most images of where you see characters with different appearances than what the original looks like, are shown to earn a lot of reacts or comments. And you can argue whether or not that it's all positive reacts and possibly a quick glance at the comments and likes could confirm one or the other (despite them removing the dislike button or where to comment nowadays....), but IT DOESN’T MATTER. Because the more people that interact with someone's post, the more that it will get shared along social media. And the marketing in Hollywood is VERY AWARE of this and they will purposely put images out or write Tweets to defend what they’ve done to bait these kind of responses. Unless of course the market isn't seen as profitable.
But yeah, these actors/creators/producers and people running the studios sound like an episode of Futurama or South Park, with characters saying, "Yeah of course we support all kinds of diverse communities. NOW GO CONSUME SOME PRODUCT.", then laugh behind the audiences back as if we're too brain-dead to see what goes behind the curtains.
@@osmanyousif7849 It's not that people are too brain-dead to see it, it's that they have a brain-dead chain of excuses they make to keep supporting it. Even if they can admit that the product is garbage, or that they're being baited into watching and defending it, they still arrive at conclusions like "Equity of Representation justifies everything" or "Exposing the haters is worth calling them out" or "Putting money into the hands of creators in my group is the only way to fix Hollywood."
I mean, it's the same excuses made with Christian media. And I say that as a Christian. 😆
if you want to watch a scooby--doo origin story that actually has scooby-doo and is quite funny, i recommend mystery incorporated :)
