thanks Scott, you helped a 66 yr old go off grid.
I brought a solar system just to charge a battery on electric fence and didn't know how to use the blue controller but now I have set it and works fine. Great video
Thank you so much! Your explanations where easy to understand and your voice slow enough to process the information. You are a fantastic instructor 👏
The clearest video on setting this little bigger I've seen. Within the first minute I k we what my mistake was. Clear and concise. Thank you pal for this gem.
Thanks for a simple direct to the subject video...10/10👍
Excellent video. I just set up a simple set up in my shed but connected the solar panel first The battery was set to B1 which is auto detect 12/24 and my USB would not work. I dissconnected it all and left it a couple of minutes. Connected the battery first and reconnected it all and now all is working very well. Many thanks for this excellent description
You are very helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us how to set up this controller.😄😀
Straightforward clear and precise thank you so much
This is the BEST! Thank you so very much! Just got a new Dokio 300 watt kit with very little instructions on the controller. I have 2 flooded batteries in parallel and this is just what I needed!! ❤😊
Hello Scott. Great tutorial. Just bought one of this charge controler for my caravan that is seating on a off grid property. The user manual is way to difficult to understand. Your tutorial helped me to understand each of the menu parameters. I took notes and tomorrow will to the caravan and add the settings. Thank you
Just what I needed! Great job without the fluff! Kudos!
Thank you. Very clear and useful video!
Excellent. Thank you for taking the time to record this.
There is more to this, than meets the eye! And that my chinglish instruction sheet, could explain. Thanks for the explanation!
Thanks for making this so simple
Thanks for this. Really helpful!
Thank you, recently bought a Dokio solar panel (150w) with a similar controller. I was able to set it up.
Great job! Thanks for the informative video.
Absolutely amazing video. Hit the nail on the head for how i need to accomplish my dang task. Thank you
thx for making it easy to understand what to do :)
You helped me out, thanks. 👍🏻
Thanks so much for taking the time to explain this clearly and concisely. I misplaced the booklet that came with mine and couldn’t remember which ‘B’ code applied for an AGM battery. 👍👍
Hi, Thanks so much - your video is so detailed and clear, that I have nothing to ask
Thanks Scott. I was going crazy trying to understand the Chinese to English translation in the manual supplied with the controller!
Pretty good. Very helpful
Very informative and thorough ty
First 2 seconds and he told me what i did wrong 😅
Hahaha!
what do you do if you plug in the solar first!?! is it broke??
No, it just won’t work properly, unplug and redo it with the battery first. 👍🏼
Same here 😂
Ya me too. They set you up without warning. First thing everybody who are new to solar Is tempted to do is see the solar panels give a reading on the charge controller. Hell I was starting with dead batteries thinking I would just charge them up real quick before committing them to the solar set up. Man this free energy seems to keep costing more and more.
hey thanks for the great video and description
This video is so awesome and so informative thank you so much that was awesome and excellent explanation👍
Thanks for the update it's very helpful
Fantastic video!! Answers all my questions 🤘🤘
Best video explanation for solar controller on the internet. Subscribed because I was impressed on how helpful this video was.
Keep spitting knowledge!! Super helpful!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
Very thorough in his explanation.
Well that was the most helpful video i have ever seen , i now feel confident i can set up my controller correctly when it gets here on Saturday , Thank You very much.
Excellent explanation. Thanks so much for taking your time to explain all the menu
You bet!
Great explanation. Ty
Great vid.thanks😊
Thankyou very god information. My reset button was in the middle though and some are all 3 at once.
Thanks for the infos very helpful with the charge controller explained
Very helpful - Thanks
HEY, YOU ARE A REALY SHARP DUDE TO BE ABLE TO COMPREHEND AND REMEMBER EVERYTHING THANKYOU! FOR TEACHING ME ABOUT THIS IDEM SIR.
Nice and helpful and useful video. Just what I needed to find the correct battery code for this control box :) Thank you for good info. Yes, I got a lithium iron battery but saw in the manual it was not supported... now i have a GEL battery but couldn't find the code. Thumbs up from me
Great explanation! Well done Brother! & thank you!
Great job
Thank you Scott.
Good Stuff Scott.. Keep up the Good simple Info Steps :) ThankYou (Au)
You bet!
This is the video I needed Scott,I liked and subbed. Going to see if you listed the cut off ect settings.thanks my man
Thanks for the sub! Glad I could help!
Epic Video thanks.
well done, thanks.
Bro your video help me quite a bit thanks dude ❤
Has anybody ever told you sound like Chris Griffin? All being said mate thank you, very informative.
Thank you very kindly.
Thank You Dude

Didn't even finish the video and I'm gonna subscribe never done that before 👍
That’s awesome, thank you - much appreciated!
Thanks Scott, didn't know we had to connect battery first , diving me mad with confused settings I was seeing
This must be close to being the most popular default PWN controller included in small scale solar panel systems in the world. So of course ... the instructions are just garbage. Thanks for making sense of the madness !!! Keep up the great work, young man 💥🤛
Thanks heaps!!
Good explaining my friend I subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
Brilliant job thanks so much. With your clear explanations on the 6 different screens, I could even setup a different controller with similar like layout. Only difference was the last screen where the Bat type is, my controller has options ut0 / ut1 / ut2 which I have no clue what is what & I left it on ut0. So yeah, please if anyone knows pray tell; I have a flooded bat.
This is much better than the chinese tiny manual filled with broken english!! haha! thankyou so much!!
Hey mate, very helpful. I need to hook up a DC-DC charger and was wondering if the last two where the wires go in is that for the DC
Thanks
Scott, excellent explanation on how to set these chargers. I have been dealing with them and one advice I'd like to share is to be careful on the Discharge Reconnect voltage. If you set it too low, let's say 12.4, the panel is just starting to catch solar radiation and the battery is still exhausted, so you will put the load on the battery that will deplete it in a few minutes or seconds, recycling the process over and over again. Your recommendation on 12.6 is spot on where I have no cycles of on - off.
Thank you, very much appreciated and I completely agree!
Another hint regarding the dual USB ports in the front panel. In some of these controllers (10A for instance) they are not considered load, so it will keep providing energy regardless of the battery voltage. But in others (20A) those ports are part of the load, hence they are cutoff once the battery discharges to the discharge stop, the USB will be cutoff.
👍🏼 That’s interesting, do you know why would they be different? Even on a 20A controller, a USB port isn’t gonna pull more power than it would on a 10A.
@@aldogomez8095 what do you mean you have no cycles on-off?
Hi Johny, I mean a loop when you put load on the panel / battery while they still don't get enough solar power. In that case, if the load is higher than the power generated by the panel, the voltage will keep falling up to the point where the solar controller will shut down the load. This loop may eventually last the whole day, or up to the point when the solar panel gets enough sun radiation to power the load.
I was correct , my charge controller got here and my battery is now charging up thanks too you .
Till i get paid you think 14 gauge speaker wire will work!!! Love the show man!! THANKS!!!
Thank you so much God bless you
A great video
Very well done sir. Excellent procedural detail and explanation...thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I follow your religiously...excellent content.
Thank you! 🙏🏻
nice explanation. if i have an AGM battery under which battery setting should that fit ?
good,thanks
thanks. the part where you explained which battery is what on the settings helps. any chance you could make an Excel sheet or pdf for your preferred settings and the different battery modes? if not i can throw one together and you can put it in your links for quick reference
Very helpful material and thanks! I need a controller to give me 12 amps of output to power a 12V sump pump. Do these exist?
Many Thanks🎉
Good, informative video. I had a second leisure battery added to the first and then bought a solar panel for recharging. First controller worked ok until i managed to wreck it. This one? I can't get it to work - or can i -nor to adjust. readings are as follows 20.6, 28.8, 25.2 and 21.4!!! and b01. Can't get back to factory setting or adjust anything! Screens just blank when attached solely to the battery. Must admit i'm a bit of dumbo when it comes to sparkie stuff!
Interesting, are you on a 24 volt system? I would unplug everything, make sure the battery is good and reconnect starting with the battery.
I have a Dokia charge controller, and I was able to raise mine to 12.3 fyi. It was pre-set at 10.7 however.
Thanks for your video very clear explanation I have a problem after I leave my battery for a few days two of them over change
You bet! Are you saying the controller over charges the batteries?
Nice job mate. Got me sorted. Now can you do a step by step on the ikea draws im trying to put together for us 😆👍
Thanks for the video! Ive watched it loads.
One question, my controller is exactly the same as the one featured other than its green and white instead of blue and black... Can I safely assume the battery type settings are the same for mine?
They are listed as b0, b1 & b2 rather than B01, B02 & B03
Very good presentation. No hype and no BS and no horrible video editing. But I would love it if you could make a video specifically on this controller and car batteries. I have to leave my car at a train station for days at a time and want to make sure the battery stays charged. Even after watching this video, I am still unclear.
I responded to your other comment 👍🏼
Hi, can you recommend the settings for a 12volt, 55AH lead acid battery?
Great video man, really help me set up my mini system
Thank you!

Can I connect this charge controller to an AGM battery? And is it really necessary to attach a load bulb to the charge controller, too?
I’m not 100% certain, but I believe so, and that you would want to select the b02 setting (gel.) also, no, you don’t have to connect anything to the load section if you don’t want to. If you do, just make sure it’s within the maximum parameters, most likely around 120 watts.

Thanks for the info
Perfect thank you🎉
You're welcome 😊
Thank you
I have few questions. I will connect my charge controler to my caravan 12v battery. Found a good deal on 24v solar panels. If I set the float charge to max 13,7V as you recommeded for 12v, will this be safe to connect and use the 24V solar panel on my caravan 12v system? Also, when the battery charge to 13,7v will the solar panel stop charging? Thank you
Good explanation. I am connecting directly from the solar panel to a 12v 80 w fan. How do I do that without a battery?
hey Scott great video i have one question that wasnt covered. where do the load wires get connected to before connecting them to the controller. thanks
Hello. Thanks for your video. My charger seems to be over charging my flooded batteries. Is there a charge Cut off voltage setting? Or is it built-in with the battery type?
Your brillant thanks from france
thank you for the video, i have the same controller i got from a friend with no manual so you made it possible for me to understand it. great job on explaining. i do have a question o hope you can answer for me please, i have 2 portable camp solar panels, each is 400w, ipmax: 1.2a, vpmax: 18v, isc: 1.5a and voc: 20v, under low light it's charging 13.1 volts for 1 of them, with the same typ battery as yours, bo3, if i hooked the solar panels together to charge 36 volts would that be too much, also will it produce more power quicker or should i put them in a circuit that will each push 18v let me know what you think. thanks again.
Dude, you nailed it.
This is exactly what I needed to know.
I'm an electrician and have been using off grid solar for over a decade but never used a charge controller. The chinese instructions that came with the one I bought didn't explain anything about how to use it or set it up.
Thanx!
Jeff
how do you get by without a controller amazes me, i dont just use my controller for my solar panel but I also use my controller to charge my usb devices with my battery without solar panel connected
I have the exact same charge controller as the one in this video and it is useless. My solar panels are for 24v system but this charge controller refuses to work with them because the max voltage it allows is 30v. It wont even let me get power from the USB plugs or the LOAD contacts at all. It's nothing but a digital voltage monitor. I use regular wall plug USB power supply blocks to charge or operate items.@@millennium677
Thank you!
You're welcome!
One of the best and clearest videos on setting these up!
are the battery types b1 etc the same for the similar looking, fake "mppt" charger?
The description of both state max panel voltage 24v for a 12v battery setup.
I have a bunch of 30-38v rated panels, am i forced to use an mppt charger if i am aiming at a 12v setup?
Hi Scott, can you tell me, if I am using the controller on my caravan with a 150w solar panel, is it possible to still connect to the mains hookup without having to disconnect the solar panel, taking in to consideration that the mains hookup will charge my battery?
Thanks!
Oh man! Thanks for the tip, that is so kind!
great explanation. Mine works identical except the float voltage cannot be adjusted. It is stuck on 14.6V will not move with the up and down arrows. Thanks very much.
Thanks
Hi Scott, I have a 400 watt battery charger panel with a 100amp charge controller, with 2 100amp hr deep cycle batteries in parallel . Batteries are directly connected to my fifth wheel 12v system. Do I need to just set menu #2 and #6 as I will not have the load on the controller. I just want to be able to charge my battries with the solar.
Thanks Mike D.
Mr Scott, thank you for your info. What does it mean with the arrow is not flashing. It seems the controller and battery are hooked up correctly, but the voltage stays at 12.5. David
Nice
Hello, I have a Agm Battery and I am not quite sure which "B" setting to use? Love to know, thanks!
