Yep, I budgeted since I was 16 counting every Pennies I got from paper deliveries. I used Excel, love Excel, and still using Excel. I’m very financially conscious because I came from refugees family with 6 kids and had disabled parent and I’m the eldest. Made my first $1M at 28, it’s the budgeting and the opportunities America gives. God bless America!
It is so funny I love the utubers that show fashion and unboxings, but I shop estate sales. We buy all our furniture used. I recently found a brand new pair of white jeans 44.00 ..for two dollars, a winter coat in like new condition for one dollar and fifty cents and a fall jacket for one dollar. I got compliments on the fall jacket today. We buy cleaning supplies and household items at estate sales too. People don't realize it here, but the sales are better than rummage sales..we don't do those. I don't buy new books, quit almost all of our magazines, we eat at home almost all the time. We are former hairstylists so cut each other's hair. I don't get my nails done. We camp for vacations and cook over the fire. We had to choose this lifestyle because we had a tragic incident and were off work and at our age we did not want to start over in the hair business. I wish we would have been more frugal in our earlier days. We have a garden every year. It is not so bad a lifestyle. Thanks for your tips.
Hi Rita! Thanks so much for sharing your story. It is pretty remarkable how many great finds there are at thrift stores. Sounds like we live a very similar lifestyle. Happiness and Peace
These are terrific tips for saving money…I pretty much do many of the items on your list. The one thing I vary from is that I do separate trips to the grocery store for fresh veggies. I found that the once weekly trip only had me throwing away vegetables that I hadn’t used quickly enough and had spoiled. It killed me to throw away the veggies every Sunday for trash day. Love your style!😎🙌
I've been following a budget since 1990. Still to this very day.. my husband and I are debt free, mortgage free and worth over $1 million. We didn't buy lottery tickets, nobody helped us. We worked regular jobs for 40+ years.
Thank you for sharing. I would LOVE a video with you showing how you cut your hair! I started cutting mine and my husbands during this lat year, and plan to continue. Would love to see how you cut yours. Also, a chat by you letting us know how you are doing since your accident last fall. Your shining smile always makes my day. Blessings.
Hey Debbie! Great video idea about showing how I cut my hair. Thanks so much for inquiring about my health after the car accident. I have Traumatic Brian injury and long lasting brain damage that effects my vision, among other things. However, I continue to make small improvements everyday. I'm incredibly grateful for healing and the life lessons I get to learn from traumatic brain injury. Happiness & Peace, Connie
I am happy to find your channel today! I (54) cut my own hair since decades and the hair of my family, too. It saves so much money. Your tips are great, thank you.
Your husband is so sweet to support you and your channel. I love how he’s always in little clips here and there! Great tips thanks for sharing ❤️ new subscriber
Thanks for sharing. There are many things you do that I also do. I use quicken for our budget and monitoring finance. We do take advantage of the credit cards for free flights and we have it automatically pay in full. Our last vacation was Hawaii. Out flight there was almost free. I think we had to pay $55 per person. Most of our hotels were also free. But using a credit card, we still have to maintain that budget. Cash is more easier to control than a credit card. I can see why people go that direction. Thanks again.
Hey Connie, you are absolutely right in terms of saving money with your hair. It reminded me that my hair costs me an arm and a leg annually!haha But it's a thing that really matters to me. =D I control my finances using an excel sheet and Trello. I love credit cards. It's super handy. I pay bills just once a month. I have no problem with it. Usually, I pay my purchases in one lump sum. =) Thanks for the video. I loved that. =)
Aww you're great, I love your smooth voice n all the good information, yes I love to use cash, but so afraid this might be something of the pass, if they stop us from using the cash currency 🥴
How about doing a hair cutting video? I love your style and I would like to try it. I have been cutting my hair in a bob for a few years and would like to go a little shorter. Love your channel.
Hi Connie, I've just begin cutting my hair but it's really easy because I have long hair. I'm really curious of how you cut your hair short... Will it be possible to the a video ton show us yours techniques? Thanks x
All legit advices ! Handmade things have limits & time consuming & also ,they don't last for long ,can get mold...etc.But cash living ..is a must to become debt free / living debt free & on budgets !!👍👍💜🐉🎤🎶🎶💞
Woah, you have grown children??? I thought you were in your 30’s but I guess that’s probably not likely 😅 you look fabulous, minimalism agrees with you! I’m excited to continue through your channel.
I don't believe in frugality so much as smart living. I do my own nails and trim the hair, don't buy junk food, and rarely get massages or buy new clothes. But I love to travel and spend money on flights and hotels, as well as restaurants. Life is an acquisition of memories, and you have to pay money for some. I utilize mileage credit cards but I always pay them off on time. CC can have tons of benefits if you are smart about them. I often travel for free and only spend money on experiences. I think balance is the key. I don't buy take out coffee but my teenage son may want to get a beverage from time to time when he is out with friends or get some chips and soda. I don't feel I have the right to deprive him of these simple pleasures. He'll grow up and make his own choices.
I love your perspective, Nadia! Thank you so much for sharing with us. I also love travel. Travel is a life experience I'm passionate about. Glad your part of our mindful living community.
I've had it for years, but I think I found it at Staples or Walmart. I did see some really cute ones on Amazon. When this one has seen it's day, I get the cute one on Amazon.
Hi Connie. I just found your channel. I’ll be binge watching all you’ve posted. This video resonated with me. Turns out I do every frugal thing you’ve mentioned! And btw I never feel deprived. Thanks and keep them coming. Your new subbie Regina from the coast of Massachusetts.
$7 for a coffee? That is rip off. There is no way i would drink that coffee. I thought $4 was a bit over board. I think coffee should be about $ 1-2 . They already make atleast double profit with that price.
@@ConnieRiet If you don't mind me asking: Are you Mormons, because I read many are living in Utah. Great video, I practice this as well. Greetings and best wishes from Germany 🇩🇪💝
These are all good tips. However, I don’t agree with cutting and coloring your own hair. I am not trained in hair cutting and not willing to cut my own nor anyone else’s either. My hair is thick and curly, so I want someone who knows what she’s doing. The one time I tried home coloring was a disaster! My then 5 year old told me I looked like an Easter egg! I will splurge on the hair salon!
Hi Nadia, Sticking to a budget is always a bit tricky. I find I do best when I use cash, and revisit my budget and cash every Sunday. It's amazing how off budget I can get in a couple of weeks. You got this!
Buy cars in cash but, by new. With new, you get a warranty and you can care for it for a long time. Buy reliability, don’t buy newly introduced, unproven models.
These simple frugal tips have saved our family so much money and time. I hope you enjoy them.
This vlog has been helpful as Im living in NYC for at least the next five years. Being frugal is must here

I love how you cut your hair. I hope you can show how you do it. I like my hair short but don’t like spending $50 to do it.
Ditto!! I’d love your cut and would love to see how you do it.
Me too. Please show us.
Yes, please, how do you cut your own hair? I cut my kids' hair but don't know how to do my own.....

Thanks for subscribing! Yes, I agree. My husband is a wonderful support for me. He's always willing and happy to jump in and help.
Totally agree with the coffee shops. But now I have to also try to avoid the bubble tea shops since my teenager developped an obsession with that.
LOL! My teenager is also in love with bubble tea.

can you do a video on cutting your hair?
👍
Pls make a video about cutting your hair. I love the way it looks!
What a great video Connie! Thank you so much! I wish we lived close to each other because we are so similar and we have the same decorating style! ;)
Hey Joy! Thanks so much, I'm glad you enjoy the video! Even if we don't live next to each other we can always be internet buddies 😊
The problem with the cash is that most stores and shops do not use cash only card, so this is a little hard to do
I understand. Pre-Covid the cash system worked like a charm. We have had to adjust the categories we keep cash in.
The best way is to get a prepaid card
How do you cut your hair? Do you have a video? I love your hairstyle
Awesome
Love this
I love your cash wallet. May I ask where you bought it?
I've had it for years, but I think I found it at Staples or Walmart. I did see some really cute ones on Amazon. When this one has seen it's day, I get the cute one on Amazon.
@@ConnieRiet thank you I appreciate your help.
I love cash too, with corona virus its getting harder to use though.
It has put a new twist on using cash.
Cooking in bulk really helps. I cook two portions of one dish- eat one and freeze one
