ANOTHER HAPPY FRUGAL FRIDAY, KSQUAD!!! This one really sparked the joy in my frugal soul, Kate! This community, especially our KSquad, has been such an inspiration in my frugal journey. I know I wouldn’t have gotten this far without you all. And I’ve been loving Fetch for so long, I just used your referral code for Receipt Hog. Love the slots!!!
AHHH Reading this comment just made me so happy. You always bring joy to my day Val, thank you!!!! AHHH!!!! Thank you for using my code! THE SLOTS ARE SO FUN especially when it hits! I think I got the cupcakes the other day and I was DELIGHTED like a little kid! LOL!
My frugal tip is to keep a pantry and household list of all the stuff you use on a regular basis. And then when its time to grocery shop go around your house check your inventory and youll never over buy and then you can also stock up when those items are at a rock bottom price.
My tip is to have a simpler diet. I have a couple of alternatives for breakfast, lunch and dinner and rotate round them. I only buy to those meals and save tons ❤
My frugal tip is: find a hobby or distraction to do in the evening or whenever temptation is high and have a set time once a month you will purchase online stuff. Add stuff to the online basket through out this time then on the date delete the stuff you have changed your mind on. 99% of the time by the time the date comes I place an order I don't even want whatever it was I wanted at the time 😂
Thanks for the inspo! I'm still coasting on the eye-opening experience of no-spend January! Learned so much about my spending habits and am so much more aware of my "spending triggers." I am trying to change YEARS of bad habits when it comes to spending! Keep up the great work Kate!
I recently upgraded my bed because I was having major issues with my knee and hip. I had injections, physical therapy and even an MRI. Got a new bed and then BAM pain gone! I just wish insurance would have paid for the bed, LOL.
We are like you. We bought our last car pre owned in 2013 it just died in November. It had almost 300,000 miles. When we purchased our new to us suv we shopped and got 2015 with 40,600 miles this last November. Every month put back $300 or more as if you have a car payment and when you need to replace your existing vehicle you have the money.
Congrats on ur new vehicle Frugal Fam! Thats EXACTLY similar to what im doing for getting myself new mattresses! Ima Navy vet on fixed income, so i mostly save monthly with auto save. Takes alot of patience.....but in the end i know it will be worth every dime!💖😁
I don't know if someone has already said this but one way I save on grocerys is to order online for curbside pickup. That way I know exactly how much it will be before I go and no fluffy stuff bought impulsewise. There is no charge for curbside at a set amount(100)here but thats so easy to get to now its not a problem. Its been a lifesaver to me on a fixed income. I finally have control over grocerys( And I only go 2x a month, so you really get smart about making a list and making sure you get everything you need)
I pulled out all my makeup just yesterday, threw some things out. I DON'T plan to buy more until it's all used up. I told my daughter...please no more makeup. I put all closed products in a large bin. We were both surprised. We have 7 closed mascaras, 3 moisturizers, 5 eye shadow palettes, 10 makeup bags...oufff no more. Last month I cleaned out my cabinet underneath my kitchen sink..I found 3 huge full bottles of dishwashing soap...Dawn. 6 sponges, 3 sponge daddy, I was buying without looking at my inventory....no more impulse shopping.
I love your tips! I keep a running list of everything I buy, especially one for impulse purchases. I have a column for the item, price, worth it, and buy it again. Its helped me be more intentional with my spending. When I feel like shopping just to shop, I like to go look at my list and appreciate what I already have and what I have bought that I wish I didnt. My guilty buy items has reduced each year over the past 3 years, since I started this method. I highly recommend it.
i would recommend people using a food saver it allows u to save yr food in the freezer so it doesnt get freezer burned......and why not get a food saver it will save u so much money$$$$$$.....
I love it, "A Spending Hangover!" That happens to me when I spend too much on fast food during one of my food binges. Yuck. I feel gross afterward: physically (bad food) & emotionally (spend too much money on junk food). I'm praying for your 100,000 subscribers; I can't wait to see you with your RUclips silver play button plaque. It's just around the corner.
Good Morning Kate and KSquad 🤗 just looked under the sinks and storage closet and couldn't believe all the household cleaners that are half used I discovered. Girl, can go without cutting any for several months. Eye Opener. Have stopped watching haul videos. Am amazed how much I am learning about me since I started watching your in January. Owe you more than a Big Hug 🤗 Have a great Sunday everyone!!
If I want to treat myself, I treat myself in free ways: by sleeping in, or visiting my parents (yes, I have to pay for the gas, but I drive a small car), or watching a show on my family’s Netflix. I used to go for walks at the park, but then I broke my hip, so there’s no more of that! Plus it’s winter, and I’m not a masochist.
Katie, you have such a positive attitude it give you such an attractive personality I can't help but watch your videos. I always walk away feeling good about life 👍👍👍
I use things to the bitter end as far as bath and beauty products. My “problem” area is the refrigerator, freezer and pantry. All of the K-squad can come over and we would have enough for everyone! 😂🎉😂
The biggest savings tool for me has been my small deep freezer. I keep it in my office as I don’t have a garage. I buy clearance and sales meat and do my weekly meal preps around whatever is in there and average around 30-40 dollars a week in groceries while keeping an eye out for markdowns like 2.00 whole chickens or 1.80 seasoned ground turkey (picked that up just today). I cook 90% of my food, prep three large entrees to use for lunches and dinners and freeze half of each to use in rotation to prevent boredom and to make them last the entire week. My biggest spending temptation is with online shopping, so I cancelled my subscriptions except for one music and the cheapest video streaming and put all the shopping apps in a folder and out of view. It’s still a struggle at times, but tracking my expenses really opened my eyes to how much “junk” I buy each month and I’ve cut that by more than half and hope to cut it down even further.
I haven't spent money in a loooooooong time. Only buy necessities. Saving for the new house projects. But that's our priorty. AlwAys looking for new tips. Thanks kate.
My husband has to constantly stop and look back like where did she go. But he like if it not on the list were not getting it. He also says do you need it?
My habits have changed so much I was out of a Job for 9 months and God Almighty and Katies frugal advice got me through. I'm on month 3 of no spend . I now only need a phone and car tires soon. Maybe early April.
Hope you feel better Kate! I keep an inventory on everything! I mean everything from food, laundry detergent, toiletries to dog food. Keeps from over buying and using everything within expiration window
I have been on a "no spend" journey now for now 6 months, n to be honest I don't miss shopping at all. Yesterday I had a girls day out with friends n for the first time since Oct of last yr I went n spent $50 for my backyard patio plus I treated for lunch, I LOVE what I bought, but it feels like I've "falling off the wagon" so to speak.
We waited 15 years to get a new car, and only because ours was no longer reliable. We had our refrigerator for 18-20 years, and we waited for it to die, but we had invested in a thermometer with a alarm to warn us when it was failing. So 6 days of cooler living and the new refrigerator (no frills bought on sale)arrived.
This year I got money for my birthday and Do you know what.. it went straight to my dept. Is just march and my Credit was supposed to be paid of in autmn . Guess what now it will be paid of in summer- this summer :D. Will be soo much better then any gift I could have ordered for me.
As 2020 wore on, we changed a fair amount of our life style, found a super sale on shampoo and cream rinse, re-directed some garage shelves purchased for tools into pantry shelves, switched up our shopping and purchasing practices multiple times, etc... Between mid 2020 and 2021 we started and stopped a number of major re-organizing efforts and one in particular came to an unplanned, premature end resulting in things being heaved into and about the garage which was also being used as a staging area for other activities. I spent an inordinate amount of time in 2022 looking for my long sleeved tops (as in most that i owned, which was a lot) and in doing so reaching into closets, cupboards, and more both in the house and sorta, kinda in the garage then slowly replacing at least some of them after concluding they must have ended up in the donate pile when we abruptly and prematurely ended our reorganizing efforts in '21. In the efforts of looking for my tops, we reorganized (on at least a temporary basis) a number of corners and cupboards and reassessing how and what we were using in light of some increasing cash flow strain. We also adopted a "use (up) what you have" approach to life for much of the year, reassement of how long some of our special consumables were going to sit on a shelf versus be used even when grabbing in the garden, and even found me donning special Christmas wear off season at home (except for one mis-hap when I forgot to remove a jacket mid-summer). September '22 brought enough sun (vs rain), enough contiguous time at home, and enough cash flow all at the same time that we made an extra dump run simply grabbing what was easiest to grab to fill the truck without any extra planning or thought. This got us removing the pile of a couple of black contractor sacks of diy type discards in a corner of the garage and when lifting the bottom sack it felt funny enough I looked inside to find my long sleeved tops; needless to say, I have more than enough now. In '23, even if and as our cash flow picture is more comfortable the watch words are flexibility and adaptability. In this effort, we will be continuing to "use what we own" even if it is to use a mix of more expensive, left over screws to knock together a wood bin; we already owned them, there weren't enough for a real project, and they are sure to out last the inexpensive pallet and scrap cedar board fencing used for the bin its self. Also, we've got some more detailed organizing to do as we've reduced the number of open and unopened containers of stuff etc... Ultimately, the space in the vanity under the bathroom sink WILL become organized again. The plans are to continue our very targeted, planned, and budgeted purchasing adopted in '22 'cause we had to; maybe with a little less hyper vigilance on absolute needs.
@@KateKaden Yes, I have ....plans.... to fulfill some unabashedly, clear wants utilizing some items we own this year. With enough snow to at least see on the ground twice a week for the past three weeks in an area not known for snow, I'm adapting to a delay in my plans though.
Hi Terry, when I moved house to a smaller retirement property I was shocked at how many part bottles and packets I had. I decided to use storage boxes to put all these in the places they would be used like all toiletries in the bathroom. I won’t allow myself to open a new bottle until the last of the part bottles has been used up. This means I should be able to cut down on my storage space needs to allow me to have more space for other things.
I NEVER have a desire to upgrade! I'm with you, Kate! I drive a small old BMW and love it! It's paid off, runs well and is easy to drive and park. I will definitely spend money on good shoes, tires and mattresses though. I have never found a beauty product that is so awesome that I just have to have it. I love Fetch, Ibotta and Upside. Upside is especially good for gas purchases. Use Ibotta!!! I have made so much money with Ibotta!!
Laundry hack- 1/4 cup baking soda, 1/8 cup borax, few drops of essential oil … good for all colors, all temps Prewash spray- 16 oz spray bottle, capful dish detergent, capful hydrogen peroxide, fill the bottle the rest of the way with water- works wonders!
Hi Kate. Do you think you could maybe do a short and show us how those three apps work? I use Honey but I haven't used anything where I have to take a picture of my receipt.
Sing it Kate!! These are fabulous reminders!! Currently have the snow flying, so going through my makeup and shower supplies today! A spenders gonna spend!!🎤🎶
I’ve decluttered my cosmetics. I now stick to 2 brands of makeup and 2 brands for skincare and I limit the products. I spent decades looking for the holy grail of products that would make me young and beautiful. They don’t exist 😂😂. So now I stick to basics that work well for my skin and I don’t obsess over it. I’ve saved hundreds if not thousands.
Hi Kate! Huge fan here... and I also have a 2015 car (Prius) here. I can afford to easily now buy a new car fully via cash- but that's not the best financial move so...like you... I'm staying strong and have chosen to run it into the ground like you and like you suggested too. Thank you today for mentioning the same and for the fellow K-squad style motivation. You ROCK! Oh, I also still have an iPhone 10 XR, even though I could easily upgrade it... but it still works for me and I don't like to overspend until it is necessary ;o
I went yesterday to store, bought raspberry tea mix and two boxes of Cheez. Both items on sale of course. But as I went around the store, I’ve kept saying to myself, think about it and maybe later? Helps me to stay focused and keep myself from spending too much money
This is related to doing inventory on what you have.Maybe organizing your stuff can save you a ton.Ihave not watched the while vid,but I can't tell you the number of times Ibought so etching I knew I had because I was too lazy to find where I put the item.I have storage, but things are all over the place...If things were organized I would just go to the item and never feel tempted to repurchase what I have.
For yearrrrrs I was a QVC and HSN junkie! I was bad! In 2018 I quit. I still buy things now and then and I have an auto delivery on HSN for Nellies washing soda ( so good and cheap) that I’ve had problem close to 10 years.
Hahaha a lot of these hacks are second nature for me! I might buy a new shampoo before the old is gone, but then I mix the shampoos together so nothing is wasted!
I use my Fetch (that you started me on) until I have 15 dollars towards Starbucks. Then I enjoy my Starbucks while racking up points there towards a free Starbucks. I guess that would make it "free-free".
Scroll less, spend less! Love your email idea, kate! I've started giving my email instead of my social or phone number when I meet ppl, like at the puppy park. So helpful. Maybe that gets an email! Love it lol.
Just subscribed been watching ur videos and I enjoy them! Thanks for sharing all the info! Looking forward to Frugal Fridays and I hope u reach ur 50,000 🎉
Im saving up for a newer car. Making "pretend" car payments into my savings account this year, cause otherwise I tend to find other ways to spend my car savings account. My car is 21 years old and so far she still runs well! Like your idea of setting up a junk mail account. Think I will do that! Is there a way to stop all the ads on Facebook???
Still use Maybelline products for lashes, press powder & blush. 2-3 lipsticks. No perfumes. My son is allergic, so I got used to not using only on vacation
My last car was retired at 320,000 miles! I was working in sales and driving in northern VA and Western PA. I bought a new car however I kept “ old marshmallow” . I just sold her for $800 plus bartered for some work in my yard! The key is regular oil changes, always semi synthetic or full synthetic🌼 she was a 2011 Kia Sorento

I also keep a list, in my phone, and do a monthly check on all the items on the list this every single month.

Hi! Those Haul Videos are the worst trigger for me too! I’m currently in ‘hang over’ mode from a weekend binge 😢. Lesson learned (hopefully) 👍🏼
great suggestions!
we recently got a new topper for our mattress. it was $300 but way cheaper then a whole new topper. we sleep so much better now.
Oooh I can relate to that! After 5 spinal surgeries I invested in a niiiccceee mattress!

You're welcome!! Thanks so much Preston!
Happy Frugal Friday!
Thank you Kate for my Friday fix!
Congratulations 43,000 cheering you on to 50,000 coming soon! Well done Kate 🌻💐💕🌻
Thank you so much!!
Thank you so much.
You're very welcome!
I use Rakuten at work when I order office supplies, toilet paper etc.
Oh awesome!
I've been watching you for quite sometime now and just realized I was not subscribed!!! But I just did it! Thanks for everything that you share ;)
Thanks so much for watching and subscribing!!!!
Love your channel. I also have cats. Do you have any tips on saving money on cat litter? I pet my cat the same. ❤
I get the store brand at my local grocery store! (and it's lightweight!) LOVE IT!
Happy frugal Friday, Kate! I need to start a, “sure! I’d love to give you my email!” Address. Lol. Have an awesome weekend.
Vo5 shampoo and conditioner is only 98 cents a bottle and it's good stuff.
Love your Friday Frugal Living Tips!! Love fetch Rewards!
Thank you so much Mary!
Oooh Receipt Hog looks fun! :) I'll give it a go!
It's the simple things that amuse me! LOL!
I now use laundry sheets, no plastic
Thanks for the tips, hope your headache feels better. Have a good weekend!
Scroll less, spend less! Love your email idea, kate! I've started giving my email instead of my social or phone number when I meet ppl, like at the puppy park. So helpful. Maybe that gets an email! Love it lol.
YASSSSSS! Love this! :):):)
You might end up with additional spam on your email if someone ends up selling it.
@@cherylT321 of course that's always a risk, but its better than someone having my personal information, i think :)
Your videos have been helping me a lot, Kate! ❤️❤️

I WISH! LOL!!!!!!

Kate and Kaden Love 💘 ❤ 💕 💗 💖 ♥
My car is a 2010 Honda Civic, and I will drive until it dies. Then maybe a used Honda.
