Temp's & Tops during the 60's Temptationss and 4 Tops. Up on the roof or Under the Board Walk. This was a little later in the group's career. Thanks for dusting it off for me!

This song IS "one of their ultra big ones!" Maybe not in the UK, I wouldn't know, but in the US it was HUGE.

Love the Temptations music. This is part of the Motown era & they had a lot of hits in the 60's - 80's such as "My Girl", "Ain't Too Proud To Beg", "Just My Imagination (Running Away with Me)", "Treat Her Like A Lady", "I Can't Get Next To You", "I Wish It Would Rain" etc. They were known for their harmonies, choreography & dress style.

Great reaction. I toured with the Temptations in 1990. Just a fantastic experience. The guys were great, especially Melvin Franklin. You just dont hear music like this anymore.

Once the Temps music became socially conscious they created a new genre' of music. Their album " Masterpiece " was just that.

Hello Brit Pops 1@2, I'm so glad you enjoyed listening to the Temptations. You are so right, they do have an extensive discography, but since you're eager to explore more "MoTown" music I would like to suggest another group to give a listen, if interested. "Cameo - Word Up - TOTP - 1986" (by the channel: TopOfThe PopsFan) --Cameo is an American funk band that formed in 1974. Cameo was initially a 14-member band known as the "New York City Players" but was later changed to "Cameo". This band really hit the height of their fame in the 80's. Their style of music covered several genres of music including funk, soul, R&B, and even funk-rock. This song I suggested "Word Up" is a funk and R&B song originally recorded in 1986. It was released as the first single from their thirteenth album, called "Word Up" same as the song. This song was the band's first Top 40 hit, peaking at number #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spending three weeks at number #1 on the Billboard R&B charts. So... Fellas' get your dancing shoes👞 on and be prepared to boogie down🕺🕺✨

One of the best bands of this era of Motown.
Such smooth, silky voices that harmonize perfectly.
    The instrumental is absolutely groovy.
This a huge radio hit here.
    Loving the Motown reactions guys.😊

You might also appreciate Isaac Hayes cover of "Walk On By" - yes, the Dionne Warwick song with a very different vibe. It's on an album called "Hot Buttered Soul".

Oh man, does this bring back memories. I always loved listening to them. Motown had so many amazing hits. I miss those days. That bass line is actually a bit more complex than it sounds to me just because of the rests counts between notes. Fantastic choice guys. Nostalgia at its best. Good point about about the Jackson Five. I always envied their moves and hair styles too. I think I still kept my bellbottom pants. I just can't fit in them anymore. Thanks for another fantastic reaction guys.- Hawk

I think the audience were a bit confused. Some seemed to be playing musical statues (but not following the rules), some appeared to be doing the conga, but individually as opposed to in a line, there was what appeared to be a prototype of early line dancing, and the rest were doing the dad dance.
Impressive, is all I can say!
That was an awesome blast from the past ❤
(I was in the pit, emerged for a couple of days, then fell back in. But no longer! I have planned a surprise for my boys, and it will cheer up my entire household, so I'm a happy mama once again. ☺️☺️☺️)

      The boys will be thrilled!!

The audience was split between movers and shakers and those who can not dance. 😂😅

What I find to be sad is that here is this justifiably famous, Grammy award winning song and the contemporary black musical scene doesn't know anything about it or the whole culture that spawned music like this. I see reactions done by guys who only know about Rap and are astounded that their predecessors made songs like this. It's almost like black voices have forgotten how to sing. Hopefully the reaction scene and the way that the internet has erased time will initiate a renaissance in music that can begin to unite all the fractured strands of styles that have come to be. Next up, George Clinton and Bootsie Collins with some Funkadelic! Lets see what the Rappers make of that!

However, the British Invasion killed R&B music as the leading rock music in America.
