Most people on Jeopardy are very smart, like in the top one percent in big brains. They did celebrity shows and had to dumb down the questions. This just takes that to an extreme.
Celebrity Jeopardy is known for dumbing down the trivia and having far easier questions than regular Jeopardy to make its contestants look better, but even then there can be some embarrassing moments.
SNL Black Jeopardy with Tom Hanks
One of the most famous clips is "More cowbell". But any "Church Lady" skit is gold.
Fake Sean Connery is one of the best things ever from SNL
Church Lady, More Cowbell, Living in a van down by the river - - - All Gold.
You can't go wrong with any SNL Jeopardy skits. Tom Hanks was also on the SNL black Jeopardy skit also. Classic.
Love that one. It was great.
That black jeopardy skit is the best!!!!!
Burt reynolds kills me. So funny
Black Jeopardy is a riot too!
They also have a series called 'Black Jeparrdy, Tom Hanks did that as a MAGA supporter, very funny.
Another amazing skit! (Though it’s worth noting that the *character* Hanks played was a MAGA-supporter, just so there’s no confusion)
Try Dan Aykroyd as The French Chef and "Schweddy balls".
If can find any SNL from the 70s it was one of the best decades.
The Black Jeopardy skits, especially with Tom Hanks are great!
More cowbell is a classic SNL sketch, and of course any of the celebrity jeopardy ones are always gold.
You can tell immediately that the "Famous Chinamen" section was not just played by Norm but also written by him. It's the funniest part of the entire thing.
Celebrity Jeopardy is real, and it's always entertaining how badly prepared the celebs are. Hence this skit - which is a series of skits
There is a long tradition of celebs going on game shows and not coming across as very intelligent. Sometimes it’s painful, but they are famous and rich so who am I to judge?
They had to write a show a week, that's why it's so throw away but a lot of it has staying power and a good laugh.
Sean Connery and/or Burt Reynolds bullying Alex Trebek is a running gag throughout the SNL Celebrity Jeopardy skits. My favorite skit to this day is "NPR's Delicious Dish: Schweddy Balls". A little context is needed in that NPR (National Public Radio) is a Federal government funded, non-profit radio broadcasting service that does a mix of U.S. and world news, politics, health, science, business, music, arts and culture. They are well known for for their understated almost austere hosts. The skit portrays a baking show called "The Delicious Dish" where the audio audience gets introduced a baked holiday treat. Enjoy!
Also, check out SNL Digital Shorts: D!ck In a Box, Motherlover, Natalie (Portman) Raps, and Natalie's Rap 2. Cheers!
Along with Schweddy Balls, there was one with Betty White about the muffins
Norm Mcdonald does a great Bert Reynolds!
Norm was great at everything!
Any SNL "Jeopardy " parody is funny. Justin Timberlake music parody, The Eddie Murphy Christmas in the North Pole from 2021, "What's Up with That ?" Featuring celebrity cameos, including Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac is hilarious.
SNL is broadcast live from NYC, so it's another reason it would not be widely seen in the UK.
Funny jokes. Tom Hanks was brilliant on this. "Sean Connery" just can't get enough of the "Your Mom" zingers as well. There's some great material from the many seasons of SNL. The humor is often cultural or political, though. Thanks for the laugh to start my day, BPs!
Has anyone mentioned that BP2 bears a striking resemblance to American actor French Stewart who is known for his role on the American sitcom Third Rock From The Sun among other roles?
@Doug Bowers
Hello and thank you for the comment, I am very flattered by it and must admit, I have not heard that one.
All the best
The Jersey Game show with Jon Bon Jovi was funny and Alec Baldwin as Pete Scwedde
Searching "SNL Jeopardy Sean Connery" gets all the good ones. In the late '70s, the Canadians unleashed Second City TV (referencing "Toronto" or "Chicago" vs. "New York City") with a program called "SCTV". These were skit comedies but they were often an hour+ long 'story show' about fictional SCTV with their skits and characters. Those are now parsed out on RUclips. The introduction of John Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short and many more. Look for "SCTV High Q" as a game-show with "Alex Trebell' as the show host. Then "SCTV John Candy" for a host of skits
Disney world breakfast with Lindsey Lohan is a classic
Thanks Kylie and for joining us live on Sunday 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I’ll add to the list :)
I left today on my 6 month road trip. First stop is Green Bay on my way to South Dakota. I’ll send pictures of my camping setup and American scenery.
The Will Ferrel cow-bell skit for sure. The Californians. Any skit with Fred Armisen. And, for a Classic, early great skit try Chevy Chase and Jane Curtain doing Weekend Update.
Chris Farley as Alex Foley, motivational speaker. Christina Applegate is the celebrity host. Each week a celebrity guest opens the show and then appears in several of the sketches. Tom Hanks was the guest celebrity for the clip you watched.
Black Jeopardy is screamingly funny.
Hi both, I’ve loved watching Saturday night live clips on comedy channels. You can see some gem comedy performances. This was so hilarious, what a skit, Tom was so straight laced funny. Loved this, hope you do more SNL skits. A brilliant upload ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is SNL cast members doing celebrities. Good choice!! 👍
Paul Simon, doing his song Still Crazy After all These Years
Eddie Murph y,there were so many stars on Saturday live, Richard pryor ,Chevy Chase, Tina Fey ,Dan Aykroyd., and so many others stars ,it first came on in tv in 1975.
Just watch regular Jeopardy. Is a great program and one actually learns something.
@Ann Frost
Hi Ann, that is a great comment and I will try and see where I can watch it or at least watch some of the older repeats
All the best and thanks for checking out our channel
I am shocked that Jeopardy is not big in the UK.
You have to React to SNL's "Black Jeopardy" sketches!
They're making fun of the fact that on Jeopardy, when they had a celebrity episode the questions were dumbed down.
Church Lady is a good series of sketches from SNL.
i would imagine that Celebrity Jeopardy is a bit like 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, except that the 8oo10C one generally has comedians whereas all sorts of celebs do the Jeopardy one
Hi guy's, one of my favorite is when Eddie Murphy hosted a couple of years ago. The sketch is called Snl north pole news report. 😊
Kate McKinnon has some hilarious kidnapped by aliens skits.
Re: SNL Bloopers, SNL is actually taped (and broadcast on the east coast) live in front of a studio audience. Like a stage show what they do is what is broadcast (on tape for other time zones) so there are really no bloopers that aren't part of the show. That's one of the things that made it so popular to start with, watching the performers trying to keep a straight face knowing that if they messed up there were no retakes.
For sweeps week (when networks try to put on especially attractive shows for rating numbers increases) Jeopardy, like other game shows, host special versions with celebrities as contestants playing for charity. Because celebrities are mostly so famously bad at the game they have minimum payouts and try to put in especially easy questions. That is what is being made fun of in this sketch. Any of the Celebrity or Black Jeopardy sketches are worth watching.
Other famous SNL skits are More Cowbell (a send up of VH1 song origin shows), Schewddy Balls (a send up of small PBS radio station talk shows that all sound alike), any of the Greek Diner sketches about a small Greek restaurant, any of the Samurai sketches, really almost anything from the first 3 or 4 seasons.
@Joe Vest
Cheers Joe and thanks for all the great information.
We really appreciate it and will be following up with more soon.
All the best
Saturday Night Live is about doing Sketch comedy doing sketches usually about pop culture. Saturday Night Live has been on the air since 1974!
Top 50 Most Valuable Sports Teams/Franchises (2021)
Mafia meeting AKA Space Pants.
The real Alex trebek showed up at one of these SNL Jeopardy skits and told Sean Connery he did not like him
A great American classic, well 2 of them. Nice, glad you 2 Brits checked it out!
@Chuey's Mama
Hey great to hear from you, we have both been busy with work and getting videos recorded, so it's been a while since we got into the comments.
SNL seems to be such an institution for you guys, yet we hardly know any of it over here, we will certainly start to do more from them.
Cheers for now
It allows cast members to do their best impressions.
Colonel Angus & More Cowbells were two skits I liked on SNL.
They did a family feud sketch where Justin Timberlake played Jimmy Fallon. He made Jimmy break, it was fantastic. The cowbell one will always be a classic! More cowbell!
Bruh. A cat walking across the stage could make Fallon break. It became annoying after a while. I get breaking occasionally when something is truly funny but Fallon did it all the time.
@@donpietruk1517 bruh? I'm not a dude. So what if he broke often? It made it funnier to me. You act like he was the only one who did it but they all did it and it just made it funnier.
@@Kari5274 As I said to me it made it funnier when the break was more organic and occasional. To me Sandler and Fallon breaking all the time ruined the skits they were in. It's like I could see it coming and knowing that it was going to come lessened it. Sorry but that's how I feel about it. Sure everyone will break occasionally but they are supposed to be professionals, not doing high school skits.
@@donpietruk1517 Molly Shannon broke all the time, Will Farrell did too. They all broke a lot. Cowbell they all broke and it was still hysterical. I don't watch it regularly and don't know who the new people are. That's all I was saying.
"Dick in a Box" is now a Christmas classic.
SNL Roseanne Rosanadana, To Stop Smoking'. so funny
There was a movie called Double Jeopardy which is a legal term that says a person cannot be tried again for the same offense after being acquitted.
Well done. Two SNL skits w/British themes that you will enjoy. Love Island UK and Kate Middleton meets the Queen starring Ann Hathaway. And, not British but very funny -- the Debbie Downer skits, especially the one at Disney World.
Definitely Love Island! There is also a series with a character named Gemma who is “British” and her most recent boyfriend. There is also a hilarious series with some small town people running into Aliens and other things.
SNL the Today show skits are hilarious with Kathy lee aka Kristen Wiig.
For a very funny SNL skit try the all drug olympics from many years ago.
Dan akroyd - bag-o-glass
Did you know that the American state New Hampshire was named after Hampshire, England?
BP1 Have you seen the British movie Kinky Boots? Sarah Jane Potts could your sister. to me there are similar facial features. Both of you have a look that makes me feel cheerful and happy. Hope you are too.
for more SNL try the SNL ESPN series they are good.
Norm Macdonald impersonated Burt Reynolds. My favourite SNL segment is "Weekend Update". It presented "topical news stories". Norm presented "Weekend Update" for several years ①. Dennis Miller was pretty good. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler too. "Weekend Update" is currently presented by Colin Jost and Michael Che, who I like. They have an end of season feature where they swap jokes (write jokes for the other one to say). AFAIK, this was the first time they did it:
_Weekend Update: Colin Jost and Michael Che Swap Jokes - SNL_ ruclips.net/video/YRfN-UGoKJY/видео.html
That "Weekend Update" segment starts with 'normal' jokes, then they explain it.
Best Wishes. ☮
Small nit-pick: Woody Harrelson wasn't 'training' for "Jeopardy" in "White Men Can't Jump", it was his girlfriend, the Rosie Perez character. The Wesley Snipes character gets her on "Jeopardy".
① Norm Macdonald was fired from by SNL by a senior executive, reputedly a friend of OJ Simpson, for continuously going after OJ in his "Weekend Update" segment. AFAIK, Norm wrote some/all of the jokes. Conan enjoyed having Norm Macdonald on his show.
This was a comedy show. It catered to "stoners". We'd get high and watch it, and laugh so hard.
@Bj Cee
HI and that's a great point, if all else fails we could resort to that option.
Cheers
Any of "The Californians" on SNL
Some SNL may be a bit US centric in its targets of parody. But if you are familiar with the much beloved children's show Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, there is a sketch from the early days called Mr. Robinson's neighborhood that is considered a classic. There are so many things that could be suggested since it's been on for almost half a century. There are classic parodies of every US president since Gerald Ford (played by Chevy Chase), to Alec Baldwin's Trump. I'm not sure who they have doing Biden now.
Patrick Swayze (RIP) and Chris Farley (RIP) auditioning to be Chippendale dancers
Chris Farley as Matt Foley, the motivational speaker who lives in a van down by the river
Phil Hartman as the Anal Retentive Chef on PBS
Adam Sandler as Opera Man on Weekend Update (fake SNL news show)
Will Ferrell (who plays Alex Trebek on the SNL Celebrity Jeopardy sketches) and Cheri Oteri as the Spartan cheerleaders (who aren't really on the squad)
Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer as the Culps, who direct the music department at Altadena Middle School - hilarious
Gilda Radner (RIP) as Emily Litella on Weekend Update
Gilda Radner as Rosanne Rosannadanna on Weekend Update
Early cast of SNL was gold
Dana Carvey as former President George HW Bush
Will lFerrell as former President George W Bush
Phil Hartman as former President Bill Clinton
Chevy Chase as a very clumsy former President Gerald Ford
There are so many classic SNL skits. ENJOY!
Another hilarious Celebrity Jeopardy:
ruclips.net/video/O7VaXlMvAvk/видео.html
Please react to maneskin's new album!!!
I’m American but I find Monty Python to be funnier than SNL
Måneskin please!
justin timberlake as host is always good.
I prefer Benny hill or Mr bean...😁
This was parodying how dumbed down celebrity Jeopardy is compared to standard Jeopardy, and why.
That was back when SNL was funny.
Ruined for me because of that big white SNL over the screen. Sorry. Bye bye.
