I stayed in Mt Sophia in 1979. Peace Center was a spanking new mall with aircon and escalators. It was like the glamorous Hong Kong I saw on TV. It was huge. There was a link bridge to 太子楼. Parklane wouldn’t exist until a few years later and it had glass lifts! We were all swakoos.
im watching this rn after coming home from the last day of its operation. I hope a place similar to this can be made for the arts to grow and for like minded people to interact. WE NEED IT
I was just telling my wife that you would be visiting Peace Centre soon! No many old malls left in SG, good that your videos are documenting them down.
Dropped by Peace Center last weekend after watching your video and it was an amazing experience. Magical place with nice vibes, bringing out the charms of our bustling arts community in Singapore. Thanks for sharing with us this gem, Hong and Sis! Liked, shared, and subscribed! Looking forward to more amazing contents! ◡̈
I'm a late 30's Singaporean guy and I LOVE going into old school shopping malls because it's nostalgic, interesting and quiet! Really appreciate you guys for doing these and hope there's enough old shopping malls in Singapore so that you will not run out of content! 😄😄😄
Back in the 1950s where entertainment industry thrives, Saloma was one of the popular Singapore film actress/singer along with those people that was painted on that wall. Quite popular among Malay community
Enjoyed the vlog as always! By the way, the story of pocong is not due to them not being tightly secured. Muslims believe that everyone should be buried in a shroud (or white cloth) when they pass on (as it signifies that in death, all are equal despite any possessions or wealth accumulated in life). So when a dead person is buried, the shroud is supposed to be untied and if it remains tied at the top, that's when the spirit will be restless and the body becomes a pocong. Hope it helps :)
Really miss this mall. My first job after poly was a Receptionist for City Music School located at 3rd floor. The last clip with perforated wall, should be the music school. And the aircon was super cold. Back then was really happening, will lots of tuition schools. City Music was the iconic music retail shop, Renner piano; not forgetting the kancang puteh cart!
Mt Sophia/Sophia Road because Methodist Girls’ School, founded by Miss Sophia Blackmore on 15 August 1887, used to be up the hill. The school relocated to Blackmore Drive (Bukit Timah). They kept the road to the founder's name. Keep up the good work, totally enjoying your channel!!
Rest in Peace Centre 🕊

Hello Mr Hongis nice see you. May I know how much earn from filming the contents from many place?
以前去Peace Centre上課。上完課過對面喝豆漿。然後搭巴士回家。我看下只影片會不會是SLS。
