I love how most Sith Lords change their names entirely when they ascend to the title - Dooku becomes Darth Tyranus, Palpatine becomes Darth Sidious, Anakin becomes Darth Vader - but Revan and Malak basically just title themselves "Darth Myself." On one hand it's funny, but on the other hand it kinda symbolizes their pure intent. Jedi or Sith they had the same mission, which they sought to accomplish in multiple ways.
Here comes the dilemma of being a Jedi in a galactic wide conflict, does being a peacekeeper means to be unresponsive to the conflict while many will die, or does that means that they should intervene and end those wars even if it means that many could fall.
Could always try for peaceful negotiations, not that the mandalorians would be receptive to that. But notice not once did any Jedi, Revan nor Council, try for diplomacy or a peace treaty
@@Lawrence_Talbot or do the classic we challenge manadalor to a duel for complete control accepted or you are a wussy.... Always works on Mandalorians
The most practical form of peacekeeping would be to be more active in society to help those you supposedly serve, as well as to squash any potential problems before they become one. Unfortunately for the Jedi, that would mean that they would be "no better than the Sith" - not that it stopped them from doing genocide in an attempt to destroy the Sith for good before they could become an issue again.
I never wanted to be a jedi or sith as a kid in the 90s. I wanted to be the kind of force-user Jerec from Dark Forces was, a powerful dark jedi who was a close second to Palpatine, coveting all forbidden knowledge and aiming for transcendence to literal godhood by utilizing the Valley of the Jedi.
The story of Revan is one of the most compelling narratives in all of Star Wars. Some of the bloodiest wars ever fought, the most pivotal historical events, and some of the deepest insights into the Sith, Jedi, and both sides of the Force.
Your timing with this series is impeccable. I just finished a LS consular playthrough, had been years since I played KOTOR The consular build ended up being OP as fuck. Not sure if I want to play through again as DS guardian or just move on to TSL yet
The huge difference between Revans 'fall' and any other Jedi's is that Revan had a clear goal in mind - to save the republic. Revan knew that when vitiates true sith returned, even he could not win, the republic WOULD fall and the jedi would be turned to sith, but he had an idea - what if he could turn the jedi to HIS cause? A fallen jedi cannot fall again, so when vitiate finally attacked he would not be facing a weak, failing republic, but a battle hardened army of dark jedi loyal to Revan. Revan used this, he used the dark side in a way nobody else ever had. He is the only person in galactic history to willingly fall to the dark side without being consumed by it. He was always tyring to save the republic, just doing so in the only way he knew how.
Oh, so most of those who died at Malcor were the less loyal members, I did not know that. All this time because of that fact, as well as what I learned about Mitra Sureck and the one who belt the super weapon that caused all this and how they said it manufacture, I just thought it was an accident what happened at Malcor that led to so many falling, but no it looks like it was deliberate on Revan's part. I knew had fallen, but I didn't think he had fallen that far until after Malcor.
One of the *best* moments in KotOR 2 was the argument with Atris about the Mandalorian Wars. It literally interrupts her for you to respond, as if you already know what her argument is... Funny how the Jedi thought the Mandalorian War smelled like something grimmer was pulling the strings, but seemed to lose that insight during the Clone Wars.
I know that this video is about how Revan and Malak become Darth Revan and Darth Malak. But I cannot helped but feeling that the actions of the Neo-Crusaders were the reason why the Republic and the Jedi launched the campaign that will eventually become known as the Mandalorian Excision thousands of years later on. The Republic feared of another round of rampage by the Mandalorians and the Jedi feared that the Mandalorians might be manipulated by Bane's Sith to go to war with them again. So they launched a pre-emptive strike and installed the government loyal to the Republic to prevent this from happening instead. Am I correct with this hypothesis? I know that it is just a hypothesis but the evidences are quite strong here.
Towards the end of the video he says that Revan and Malak had to travel around to the different star maps to discover the star forge. But I thought at the end of KOTOR, it showed us that the star maps were intentionally set that way after the infinite empire? Either by Revan and Malak, or by the Jedi council, I can't remember which but wasn't that a thing? Am I misremembering it?
Like Anakin during the clone wars, by going to war and becoming the leading generals of the republic fighting against their enemies, with each new battle and more ruthless strategy employed, tin order to win the war, they slowly but surely became the very thing that they swore to destroy, the new lords of the sith.
