What a brilliant and beautiful solution to such a mundane part! "A hateful little thing" hahahahahaha that had me in stitches 😂
Thanks as always.. Glad you enjoyed it buddy!
Nice. But what's wrong with Austin Allegros?
They are shite .
Princess Diana had one of them, you know.
😂😂😂😂
@@vvevvevvvv and check out Johnny Smith's Allegro sleeper project on the Late Brake Show. That's going to be fun.
🤣
My Allegro had a square choke knob to match the steering wheel!
That's a nice touch machining your own brass one. It must be very satisfying and therapeutic.
Happy days! ✌️❤️🤗✌️❤️
I seriously is mate, making something from blank raw material is as good as it gets..!
Looks awesome Del. The best looks are your own custom-made pieces.
Thanks buddy. Totally agree!
No contest brass looks so much better than cheap plastic.
Definitely an upgrade on quality motorcycle! 😀
Thanks so much Marc !
I absolutely love this, one of the items you touch every day becomes a memorable experience for the rider. Brilliant!
What an improvement, lovely.
I've worked on a lathe more or less every workday since 1978 and I love it but manual turner's are a dying breed. Nice knob by the way lol.
Thanks buddy, really appreciate your support..
I love that you show how you use your lathe. It’s a true art
Dead on correct Del, about the small details making the build and this bike has a ton of them. So enjoyable to watch machine work especially when it's done by a very skilled human instead of a computer program. You have an amazing variety of talents my friend. Thank you Del and Penney for another bright spot in my week. God bless and stay well friends. ❤👍👍
Hi Rick, yes it's quite sad that hand skills are disappearing, somebody actually asked if I'd thought to try computer machining, just goes to show how the world's changed when hand skills are no longer valued over pressing buttons... if we don't maintain these old skills, then they die out and we end up in a world living at the mercy of 'Cyberdyne Systems' !! Have a great week and thanks, as always, for constant encouragement, take care, D&Px
@@Moonfleet41 Well said Del.
For me Del that was your best brass work yet. How I wish I had a lathe.
Thanks buddy👍
Looks very nice, Del!
Sir that is an astonishing little peace, wauw!! I like the project a lot but this has something extra, also because I wouldn’t expect someone to make something nice out of such a small part on the bike 👍🏻👍🏻
Take care, Han
Thanks for your kind words, am glad you enjoyed the video!
Very smart, really enjoyable to watch. I'm guessing the carbs are coming back off for a clean? They looked pretty ropey especially next to the shiny engine.
You amaze me with your skills. Well done. Those small touches really makes the bike pop.
Thanks Mike, coming from you Sir that is praise indeed!
That’s something right their. I can smoke a joint an watch this dude work, no problem 🤙🏻
I want one of those knobs! Came out amazing.
Nice little touch, looks great. 👌
Thanks! 👍
I like that ;)
You should make a 'lathe work' playlist.
Full play list mate.. Enjoy :- ruclips.net/video/BlX9sUtyrXQ/видео.html
Beautiful. I want a lathe now :D
Well done, Del. Details like this give your project a distinct flavour. I love watching your build.
Günter from Nürnberg/Germany
Thank you buddy, am glad you approve!
Another awesome video brother ! the custom knob was a great touch, I agreed with your last statement " the smallest components that really define the build" absolutely true brother great job ! keep up the great work brother ! stay safe guys cheers from new york !🎉🍺🍺🍺
Thank you as always for your kind words of support and encouragement brother, am glad you enjoyed it!
That was a satisfying video Del ! That brass piece looks great amongst the other brass bits on the bike. ATB SR
Glad you enjoyed it mate, we hope you're all doing ok there, you take care, D&Px
@@Moonfleet41 Thanks buddy, means a lot. Hope yourself and Penny are well 👍
Great little touch - and very satisfying to watch - plus it must be even more satisfying for you to start off with a lump of metal and end up with a smart and functional one off custom part - thanks guys x
Couldn't agree more mate, making something from raw material is always enormously satisfying!
I dunno why, but this was my favourite video of the build so far. Keep it up mate! Looking wicked
Thanks mate, will do!
Asbolutely stunning work, Del. Small but beautiful detail!
Thanks mate. Glad you like it!
The lil things make a heart felt touch ! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Good to watch how you made that Del - nice lathe work 👍
Thanks mate, much appreciated!
I am impressed by your work and your working space.
Very, very clean. But I don't understand why you are collecting the small metal filing in Glas boxes?
Always enjoyable to watch the lathe, great work Del
Glad you enjoyed it Paul, thank you, good to hear from you mate.
You are an artist! I would love to have your work-shop and skills!
Thank you very much!
Looks nice Del .. you’ll not see another one the same.. I like the bit about the Austin Allegro.. lol.. that took me almost right back in my memory.. I still remember the Ford Zodiac.. lol..👍
Awesome, my ol' man had a Mk4 Zodiac, what a shed that was lol
@@Moonfleet41 nice one.. lol.. after Zodiac was a red Ford Corsair .. yeah was the old mans .. hahaha..
Allegro’s choke knob?!? My mum always used to hang her handbag off it
Awesome Del 🤩👍🚴🏅
Agree with u on that. The smal detail shows the interest the owner has in the bike
Superb, Del…! You have unbelievable vision… Sorry I’ve been awol, but had to retrieve the MIL from the next county over.. it seems she and the neighbor’s bulldog chased a car together for nearly 145 miles. Hope you both are staying well there!
🏍👍🏍
Cheers buddy, glad you like it, but news on the MiL, I guess you didn't use a strong enough chain in the garden, and I know what you mean, we've had our own issues to this week, popped round to see the ol' love last weekend, came across six guys beating her up in the garden, PP said 'aren't you gonna step in?', and I said 'no six ought to be enough'... lol
Awesome Job Looks So Cool 😎
Nice touch there Del.. Thanks for sharing it.
Thanks mate👍, Glad you enjoyed it.
I like it Del. Cheers mate.
Thanks buddy.
I understand your comment about the smallest components making such a large impression. I spent over an hour looking at the small details on a new 2022 Tuono Factory a month back. Only thing that stopped me was the residential manager would not have approved.
Sure thing mate, the devil's in the detail, it's the little touches that define the vehicle!
The more you do lathe, more I desire make room in my garage for one !! That’s pretty Kwel creation. Great shot Penny !! What you planning do with left over brass ?
Thanks mate, glad you liked it, saving the brass for when I think of something to do with it... if all else fails, it's £20 a kg scrap value and I've already got 5kgs collected so why throw it away!!
Really nice touch!
Thanks Hugues!
nice little touch...excellent👍
Thanks 👍
Great work Del, brilliant touch.
Great video Del & Penny. Excellent job mate, looks trick. You are so right when looking at customs bikes, it's all the small parts that you you. Penny and you have a great week. Cheers
Thanks mate, am glad yo approve! Really enjoying the project ourselves too... have a great week there, stay safe, D&Px
Agreed it’s the smallest details that make the difference, and that is a work of art.
Thank you Andrew, we're glad you approve mate!
Absolutely Brilliant!! 🤘🏻😎🤩
Sweet upgrade ❤
I should acquire a Shop Smithe, perfect for this type work.
I see a lot of traditional machining, have you looked at Computer Assisted and using billeted steel?
That's a beautiful little piece there Del...love it! It's really starting to come together now...
Thanks buddy... always good to hear from you, hope you're keeping well.👍
Nice job Del, that's a great idea and looks the business! 👍
Thanks 👍
Smallest parts make the biggest statement really enjoying this build Del thanks again for sharing and a big thank you to Penny for capturing all your work 👍
Cheers buddy.. Glad you enjoyed it!
As usual a nice informative video but today you spoilt it by mocking one of the best reliable cars I ever drove, in 13 years all I had go wrong was a suspension pipe, it only went when I was given a company car as part of a new job, they had their faults like all cars but if looked after they were no trouble.
All meant in jest mate, cars of the 70's are alwys a butt of jokes, but I'd rather work on one of those than a modern car any day!
Seen a number of custom and tricked out bikes… but just used the stock choke knob, some hide/relocate it but still there.
Great video Penny and Del! Very nicely made choke knob - it looks fantastic and compliments the other custom pieces so well. As always, beautifully scripted, filmed and edited. Take care and be well!
Thank you so much for your kind wrods, as always, we're glad you enjoyed the project today! D&Px
What a lovely little thing...
Quality mod Del👍
Love it !
Very tastefully done Sir. 😎👍
Thank you kindly
Brilliant absolutely brilliant
Cool! I love how rightly offended you are by the factory knob... "horrible, hateful little thing!" :) Hi to Pen!
Hi buddy.. yeah, seriously drab little part and so prominent..! Good to hear form you as always.
You are doing a great job 🎉
Thank you so much 😀
Great well done
Beautiful.
Now that’s nice.
Won't brass rust or change colour when exposed to rainy weather?
Only Iron rusts, brass can tarnish.. but when it's media blasted it just turns a darker shade like bronze..
@@Moonfleet41 Got it. Thanks Del!
Very nice 👌
Thanks 😊
Now you need a brass derby cover.
Lovely little piece of machine there Del
Nick Australia
Cheers Nick, good to hear from you mate!
Awesome 😎
That is amazing! You are quite a talented machinist.
Thank you kindly Sir, just a keen amateur.
Absolutely amazing to see that be made on the lathe Del!
It's often the little details we miss spotting at the shows but over the years I've seen a few custom pieces like that pop up and they catch my eye and make me realise how much thought has gone into the build
Absolutely my experience too mate, when i check out custom built bikes, im not looking at the pricey branded parts.. it's those little hand made, unique details that set it apart aye. !
Well done Del. I like how you created a larger radius than was ground on the tool and then chamfered the OD with it too. I better watch out or you'll be taking my job. Stay well Sir.
Ha ha, thank you so much Joe, coming from you that is high praise indeed, i have learned so much from watching your videos, and it's great to be able to put some of it into practice.. Take care too.. D&Px
Wow, that looks so good. Love the detail on it 🙌
Thanks so much! 😊
Excellent Del, as usual mate
Many thanks!
Cracking little job Del.
Makes such a difference to the overall look.
Can't wait to see the final build video and then a shakedown ride👍
As always, much love to yourself and PP 🤩
Thanks mate👍, we're looking forward to that day too, but enjoying the journey along the way.
Visionary…
Wow! Now isn't that nice! Top job!
There's me thinking bar ends, nice little touch. Very Smart
I have a question …do you recomend irinio spark plug for sportster 2004 883 ?
Outstanding Del! Completely agree, the little details make the build. Especially ares most often left ignored
Absolutely mate.. Thanks for watching.
I have never met anyone with a jar full of brass rods in their garage. 🤯
FairPlay Del it looks really smart! Great job!
Awesome!!! Love that matte finish!❤
Nuther beauty, fascinating to see that come together. Very nice though thanks :)
Many thanks Tony! always good to hear from you.
Love the thumb dimple you added for function & visual depth. 👌 If you're looking to get anything re-chromed, there are places that can do it with a copper finish. Oh, if you get stuck waiting for parts, please turn some tire valve caps!
These videos are consistently brilliant. You explain exactly what you are up to in a very approachable and understandable way, allowing the common man to dream big in little steps. The finished article is going to be wondrous. Good on you and thanks.
Wow, thank you so much for your kind words sir, im glad you enjoy the content !
@@Moonfleet41 so much so I have started some projects of my own... Videos up with more to come.
Tidy
Looks fantastic Del what u doing with that hayabusa? Up for sale maybe ?
Hey buddy, the Busa is certainly in question these days, had a lot of fun with it, but don't get to use it nearly enough, was thinking of breaking it up, the engine's worth a fortune it would seem and I could use the front end and rear wheel for a future project... not sure yet, it's SORN'd for the winter, and I'll decide at some point, why, are you in the market mate?
thats a cracking bit of workmanship Del looks outstanding m8 atb iain
Thanks buddy.
Transforms such a simple part into a custom build
What a fantastic upgrade. Unfortunately, it'll add too much weight over the stock knob 😉
This lathe machine is absolutely great. But you know how to use it well. What do you do with brass crumbles you collect in a jar? Can you sell it?
Thanks mate.. been collecting the brass for ages, got two other jars full, almost 5kg now.. haven't decided what to do with it yet, just seems wrong to throw it away, even if i sell it for scrap maybe..!
Dude, I want one, make me one Del, how much lol ???
Bang tidy, all the little things make the whole lot look awesome 👏🏻
Cheers buddy..
Nice bit of lathe work mate, much nicer.👍🏻
Thanks mate👍
That's incredible. You should sell those.
That really turned out nicely, Del. And did my eyes deceive me, or did one of your temporary clip-on spacers to go from a 7/8ths bar to 1 inch controls get used to protect yer Nanna's Austin Allegro replacement from the chuck jaws? I am also curious about what you'll end up doing with the brass shavings in the future. Smelting party, anyone?
Thanks buddy.. been collecting the brass shavings for ages, still not sure what for, lots of uses.. even just as scrap value.!
Very nice!
