At the end of a season, there needs to be a "reaction" video of the boys watching these clips and reacting at how much the community found out about the season by these few clues.
That would certainly be fun for us in the trailer analysis thread. But the Jet Lag boys don't owe us any recognition, and I can understand if they don't wanna be pointing people towards potential spoilers.
Yeah!
Seeing this video after watching almost the entire season is really interesting! i loved to see where you guessed the rules right and where you missed them!
and the locations that you found, incredible!!!
btw. I just passed merlischachen with the s3 from lucerne :)
As a german I really apreciate that somebody finally pronounces cities like Zürich correctly while talking about JetLag, Greetings to Denmark 😊.
Btw altough you mastered the pronounciation of "sp" as "schp" which is correct in German (for example Gespenst (ghost) or Springer (chessfigure knight, literally jumper), I would say That Hospental is not pronounced as "schp" but as normal "sp", because s and p here are in two different syllables. Maybe it is right due to regional accents but in High German you would probably Pronounce it like I said :)
Hey, genuinely thank you for the explanation! 💚
I now know how people feel with mispronunciation, being from Switzerland. But you didn‘t do that bad, try more pronouncing it like Danish than English.
we already know the jet lag team will mispronounce them even more
I tried my best to pronounce these in German, but I'm aware that Swiss German is a good bit different to what we learn here in Denmark. Perhaps the English pronunciation seeped in there as well. It's hard to switch language mid-sentence, as I'm sure you know! :)
I've been reliably informed by Adam Chase that it's pronounced "Merlishannen."
As a swiss person who travels on train around the country fairly often, I recognized a lot of the general area of these spots without even looking at a map. The diversion to north of Bern would also make sense if there were actually more rounds played, but we'll see.
One thing you didn't consider: the reason for there to be snow in Hospental but not in all the other clips is just the huge elevation difference, not that it's a different day. Hospental is about 1000m higher than Lucerne.
Both are great points. I may have leaned too heavily on the three round assumption. But I gotta swing and take some misses. No fun being too cautious. :)
I can't believe the lengths people are going to find these location. I would never believe someone would go to a location in real life for an online game that they are not part of!
Lol, I wish they would one day do a Scandinavian season, so I could do the same. It might not be the same game, but trying to decode the teasers have turned out to be a puzzle game in itself! 💚
Absolutely insane geodetective work. Hats off to y’all.
I hope Jet Lag comes to Scandinavia some time (Maybe a race between north and south, NZ style?) so I can use my own expertise to help y’all out with the search too!
Hamburg to Tromsö (sorry I have no Norwegian keyboard) would be fun, a first challenge determining if one team could take the Kiel-Göteborg ferry (and the other one having to drive) could be super interesting already
Absolutely agree, this is a truly incredible suggestion that would work perfectly like NZ
@@haisheauspforte1632 I ended up looking at better routes for game design and the best one I found was Alta, Norway to Fredericia, Denmark, from north to south. It even allows the ferry to Turku, so a route through Finland would be possible too. And also the ferry from northern Denmark to Kristiansand
@@eljestLiv interesting :) but why Fredericia? Seems a little random
@@haisheauspforte1632 The path branches immediately where you can either head towards København and take the bridge to Malmö, go towards Frederikshavn and take the ferry to Göteborg, or go towards Hirsthals and take the ferry to Kristiansand
Great work as usual! And great work by everyone on Discord. Like Hamfrags, I was pretty tired after Season 8 so it was nice that everyone found so much right away!
EDIT: I do want to give a shout out to RootCubed who checked and mentioned Aefligen station fairly early on and was oh so close to getting the correct station (one station away). Hamfrags and I had actually looked through Utzenstorf station in the first few passes but were done in by the poor photos and Street View available to us. Ultimately a few okay photos of the station platform and a RUclips video from a train cab from Solothurn to Zug got us the images we needed to confirm it.
And it would seem you were right about there being more than three rounds! That would explain the weird places the seekers go to!
We'll look back on this video soon and be amazed at the predictions in hindsight. Jetlag is doing a good job dropping just enough info to make this community work but not enough to actually leak anything crucial.
They definitely weren't showing everything in the teaser! Most of the footage was from the three hiding places, while presumably, most of the actual season will be about the journey to get there!
Nice thorough work as always, Hamfrags! That board game you described sounds like fun & you should totally make a show like that if Jet Lag doesn't.
I've already been playing around with a few versions of the "GeoGuessr in real life" idea. Hoping the upcoming season won't be too similar 🤞
Hi Hamfrags! had a blast playing Gartic and Geoguessr with ya :3. Awesome video as always!
You guys are indeed crazy for this.
I absolutely love it! It is a great video, and shout out to everyone in the Discord. I really enjoyed working with you all, including but not limited to, Hamfrags, Anotherdoofus, and RootCubed!
Thank you too! And yeah, there are too many names to keep track of!
Incredible work - both with the video and with finding the actual locations. Its interesting watching this after having watched the first episode of the new season. Also just wanna point out that even as a fellow Dane, I did not notice your Danish accent until I finished the video and read the comments. Your accent is not noticeable which is quite rare for a Dane.
Thanks so much! Especially the part about the accent. I'm always trying to improve my English.
this is geoguessr x jet lag. the best of both worlds
Was super excited for this video, since I used to live there. Pretty cool to see they were in Winterthur
I think the clip from the tunnel at Winterthur Bahnhof (among others) was identified by someone local to the city. There was a disproportional amount of Swiss people helping out with the search. :)
Excellent work, Discorders!
I think the winner will be the one with the longest time spent hidden, but I think the guys will hide in more than one location. When they find Adam, Ben will be sent to go hide in a new location that had not been revealed in the teaser footage. It makes sense and further motivated the seekers to find the hider as fast as possible. Tag across Europe was done in the same principle, catch the two others who are running so you get another shot at running yourself.
I just fell like each hider only hiding once would be too short and would not lend itself to a whole season of Jet Lag. Plus, you know the boys will be eager to "learn from their mistakes" and hide even better in the next round. 😉
It might just be as you say, and if there are more rounds than we see here, it would certainly help explain why we see all these clips of seekers in what looks like completely wrong locations!
6:00 so good at guessing :D
I waited for this It did NOT disappoint
Very nice vid 👍
I love how this has turned into a game within the game for viewers and the boys encourage it. :)
I don't wanna put words in their mouth and say they encourage it, but they are at least aware of it, impressed by it, and seemingly not against this sort of fan engagement. They don't owe us any acknowledgment.
Hiding in my hometown Winterthur now I'm even more hyped for the season! To be honest when I saw the teaser I thought specially one picture looked very similar to some places in winterthur but I never put more thoughts into it.
You don't happen to recognize that one unfound shot of Adam? ;)
Hi 26Winti ... I live 12km south of Winterthur. Today my husband and I went to a walk in the woods there to see the locations😄
Who is here after the first episode got released?
I like your board game comparison. I definitely agree that this game is very likely to be more similar to the hidden movement genre of board games (I think the hottest one right now is MIND MGMT) than traditional hide and seek.
I know that Jet Lag has taken direct inspiration from board games before, so I figured the connection wasn't completely far fetched. Also gotta take the opportunity to show a bit of my collection in a video. :D
One thing I'm very curious about is how the scoring works. The simplest way would be "amount of time before being caught" but logistically if one person is allowed to be hidden for an unlimited amount of time, that would have made their filming logistics very difficult. This makes me wonder if hints are unlocked based on time rather than or as well as distance and location. I also wonder if the rest period rules were adjusted at all and what limitations if any were placed on choice of a hiding spot and modes of travel.
They like to keep their win conditions as simple as possible is my thought process. They would probably have to adjust the rest periods to account for the limited daylight.
To be fair, although Luzern seems to make sense as a starting point looking at a general map (and showing the arch in front of the station would hint at it), Olten would have been a better choice from a transport point of view, in my opinion. Olten is a crossing point between the East-West train lines (between Zurich and Bern or Geneva) and North-South line (from Basel to Ticino.) Luzern is a little further when traveling from Olten towards Ticino.
But well, I have no clue what they considered when choosing a starting point, and Luzern is more famous (and probably has nicer views) than Olten. :)
Good point. I should clarify that the image from Luzern was not in the teaser. I just got it from Google Streetview. Should have made that more clear in the video!
i also was attempting to find the location of the clip where adam is in front of a house or something - i've been through about 25 towns or so but i couldn't pinpoint it ;( (21:05)
To anyone who is reading these comments, this is the only clip we haven't found or probably located
hello plane dox fella
While I would love to watch this now, I really don't want to be spoiled on anything quite yet, gonna put this on my watch later and check it out once this season of JetLag is over. I wonder how accurate this will be?
Good decision! I choose to trade the surprise for dramatic irony, but that shouldn't take away from your enjoyment!
I like Switzerland, its nice here, but i am still to fat!
i have nothing to go on, but I think Sam is first, since he hasn't been first in a while of jet lag. I might also think this is filmed before season 8. In season 7, Adam said "i didn't pack any layers since i thought there was so low chance for us to go to switzerland". And his clothing seems like impulse bought right after they find out "we still have a lot of more travel on our interrail tickets, let's try the workshoped idea we actully didn't think we had time to do.. Let's GOOOOO!"
I can appreciate some good old-fashioned pure speculation, lol 💚
The link specifically for that thread on Discord only sends me to the starting page. I think this is because upon entering the server you choose wether or not you have access to Nebula, and if you dont, that thread isnt enabled for you
Thanks! I forgot to mention this, but it is now clarified in the description!
You guessed correctly Adam won!
I did, somehow, but the people here on RUclips didn't know that until today, you rascal! ;)
I wonder how Rainbolt would find these locations
Probably using Google Earth, Street View and reverse image search, not unlike what people here in the video did. And maybe writing queries in Overpass Turbo. He's got two videos on his RUclips where he shows his methods. In a lot of ways, they're probably what you'd expect, like looking at the context of the image and finding the original poster. But I can recommend them both!
You got two things wrong. Adam is the first to hide and they definitely have multiple rounds.
4:04 Side note: There are a lot of similar board games, actually! They are called " hidden movement games."
P.S. Watched a bit more, and you seem to know the fact above.
Yes, thanks! 💚
I specifically made the Treasure Island comparison because of all the similarities I mentioned (the hidden object doesn't move, the seekers rule out area on a map while moving around said map, the hiding spot could be anywhere, not restricted to grid positions or zones).
I think each person hides twice
no
wow
I've lost when it will go out though?
It's on Nebula on February 28th, and RUclips on March 6th
People go crazier for jet lag spoilers than a Manchester United fan
The show is uniquely fit for me to make fan content for as a GeoGuessr player. This special interest is not normally that easily applicable. Sometimes I wish I was an artist, lol.
i love your singing 🥰😍
Bro needs to analyse the full trailer
Give me until Wednesday when the first episode comes out on RUclips ;)
@@Hamfrags wow, thx for replying! that would be wonderful! Cant wajt for s10! Wonder what they will do for the 10th season! Maybe invite all the previous guests to compete in a massive game
weird to hear my name in this video, hope sam somehow finds himself in boise again in the future so i can help a bit more as a local😅
Yes, but thanks for what you did contribute! I can cut out your name if you're uncomfortable with it, btw!
