- Not enough people are talking about this revolutionary machine and while it might not make it into our homes just yet, I think this machine could very well bring about a whole new class of machines.
It's the first induction commercial machine (that I know of - the La Fenice died in its infancy). It's also modular so it can grow and shrink with the size of your cafe needs.
Being brought to life by some of the best people in the industry: John Gordon, Aga Rojewska and Greg Scace are just some of the names behind this machine.
I was lucky enough to interview John about this machine and its pack filled with amazing features that as a cafe owner, blew me away.
I think the world is ready for a new brand to disrupt the traditions of espresso in a commercial environment.
Let me know what you think of it and whether you'd buy one if you ever owned (or currently own) a cafe.

I am super passionate about coffee and educating people on all aspects of this amazing drink. I love bringing the stories back from the other side of the world about how they grow and process the coffee differently in each farm, in each region, in each country. I also love helping baristas around the world make better coffee for themselves, whether they're at home, professional, competitors and or even just venturing out into the wide world of coffee.
About Ryd!
In a world where coffee has become elitist and over-the-top hipster, Ryd is on a mission to make specialty coffee inviting and undiscriminating; creating a community of coffee lovers who want to share their thoughts, ask questions and appreciate that we are all on a journey uncovering the delights of home-brewed coffee.
Soo awesome! I can’t wait to try a setup with these. What an awesome idea and implementation!
Thanks for sharing!
You're welcome! These will be amazing when they get on the open market.
This looks and sounds so awesome! Can't wait for home offerings with this technology.
Yeh this could be great for home users (maybe a smaller footprint). I'm almost considering getting just the milk module for my cafe, it seems so efficient.
Wow. If this runs reliably and offers consistent results, at that price they have a great contender.
I reckon too. If its as good as advertised I reckon its a game changer for the cafe industry. I'm seriously considering it as my next machine.
Very interesting looking machine!
imagine a 10 group machine in the busiest CBD cafe! That would be an awesome sight!
So clever!
Yeh, they are amazing machines.
That sounds epic! Would love to
Play with one! Honestly really interesting for the future or
Cafes
Yeh, I can't wait to test them out in the field. I feel like I could give it a good run in my cafe. Especially having a 4 group with a milk module in the middle and one end. It would speed up my workflow by 100% and if the energy savings are as they say, its the cheapest specialty machine on the market! Super promising.
@@Rydecoffeecoach exactly sounds promising
I also like the fact that it basically heats up instantly so cafes don’t have to leave them on over night
And basically open your door switch it on and your set to go
Even as a home barista sounds really good!
I would really like some insight into how induction offers any benefits over thermocoil/thermoblock here.
One of my biggest deterrents against getting a home espresso machine is that I think I want either manual lever or pressure/flow profiling, but I don't want to heat up a boiler and my kitchen for the 2-3 servings a day I might consume. Just overkill for my needs. The competent manual lever machines are boiler only (or require a kettle), the competent thermocoil/thermoblock machines are flat-9 (or $6k Decents).
Yeh great idea! I'll put it into my filming list. I think the Decent is really value for money. I've only had one for just over a year but if I wasn't a collector of coffee machines, I'd say it would be my end game.
Also, have you considered the La Pavoni esperto? Heating time is short and it will give you the control and is super cheap considering. I'm not an expert on levers by any means but I interviewed them a while back and from what I saw it looked great.
thermoblock uses a standard heating element resistance (more power consumption) induction uses an electromagnet that causes the metal component to get hot very quickly and uses less electricity. my thought is if the magnetic field can cause mineral deposits in the heating tube lumen? induction cooktops are great and energy efficient. in se asia can buy them from 30usd. induction tech has been around for a long time and not considered high tech. if energy saving is the goal important to know the "break even time"
Would love to see and hear more about this for a domestic application.
Yes, if they give me details on the consumer module I'll definitely do another review! I would love to see this come into peoples home but it's too big currently - unless you just wanted espresso.
All nice and stuff, but when is it available!!!!!!?
That is the $$$$ question 😂
Very cool. Same technology as the decent espresso machine?
I think it's only similar in that it has no boiler but the Decent isn't induction so I think that's as far as the comparison goes. Would be cool to see a Decent induction machine in the future though!
Comon!! Make it domestic!! I dont understand how we still are fuzzing around with boilers.
It looks amazing, but for a household machine the price must be around 2000€.
Yeh, they may be able to make a smaller footprint, I think this is designed to keep up with the dialy pressures of a cafe. But there are some machines for home that are $13k+ but it's definitely a small market.
Any chances of having it make the latte art?
🤣 Thats next!
Serious question for commercial application- will this potentially interfere with pacemakers?
interesting question! I think if you have a pacemaker and you are working on it, it would affect you as the EMF is about 2ft i think. If you're not on the machine itself I think you'll be fine.
Is this the same John Gordon who runs Gorilla Gears?
Yes it is!
Interesting to see a barista champion coming out with a product that basically makes baristas redundant. Burger King will have artisan coffee with this machine and can still use minimum wage teenagers without any special training. Goodbye longbow and hello crossbow
Good point!
