COFFEE TIME - My Morning Workflow

- A lot has changed since my last coffee routine video back in April 2020, so I figured it was time for an updated version with my new espresso machine, grinder, and a few other small tweaks to my barista workflow like the static reducing RDT and the clump busting WDT.

people who don't like coffee prep gotta understand this is like owning a record player instead of using spotify it's a hobby and people do it because it's fun
in a way, it also helps me relief stress lol
@@kristopherbansil7251 it's a slow activity that needs and breeds patience everything runs very fast nowadays and slowing down if even just for a few moments every morning can never hurt
Agreed and actually the tools he used was pretty simple since he didn't use porcupress, ocd, and paper filter/puck screen
@@Poor_Wayfaring_Stranger exactly my thoughts, people should enjoy the prep and love the process
It's a morning ritual with many devoted steps in the persuit of perfection. It takes discipline and going through the motions is relaxing. You can enjoy espresso anywhere and quickly, but there is a sense of fulfillment I think only people who make their own can understand, and satisfaction when done well. Also a daily level of insanity in knowing that this mornings cup can be made better tomorrow, if you had just tamped better / ground finer(or courser) / or hadn't let the grouphead get so damn hot! Are my beans getting stale?...
This is a man who has a real passion. One of your best videos ever :)
Thanks Jack! I’m glad my passion for coffee really was showcased in this one.
Agree Jack! This a fantastic video Asa!! How are you liking the MP?
Yeah passionate about spending as much money as possibly on coffee equipment 😂 But clearly passionate about coffee too 👌
Each item from your gear seems well chosen and with high attention to details. You put a lot of effort and spared no money.
I love your videos. All the best!
Thanks Andrei, I appreciate the kind words and for watching. Cheers!
Just bought my first espresso machine, so I've been watching a lot of videos and learning about all the different gear and techniques for espresso. It's really like a form of art as much as it is enjoying a coffee. Enjoy your videos! Cheers!
Great video, its always fun to watch how people develop their own coffee making practices. At our coffee shops each of the staff have their own styles when they open up for the morning shift. almost like watching them in a moving meditation.
Beautiful!
I have a Breville Barista Express, prep coffee every morning become a routine for me, it's so relaxing and meanwhile focusing.
That nervous pulse when the latte art pour creates good B-roll but you don't want to screw it up😂
That was just a happy accident, I just loved the song and it all fit together so well for the vibe.
@@Sprometheus love it! I get that way too when something forms other than a nebula.
What track did you use? I think the music fits well and it's much higher quality than most background tracks on YT.
It has become a routine to watch this every morning, beautiful video. I aspire to be like you someday!
Thanks for sharing! That’s what I call a perfect extraction! 👍
Fantastic video.
Fantastic beat.
Fantastic coffee extraction.
:)
Hey man, enjoying all of your videos. You are the reason for my Rancilio Silvia Pro X in the kitchen. Thanks and don‘t stop creating content.
Great little vid..with some funky music. Loved the coffee cups!
Gorgeous. And truly satisfying 😊
Poetic, emotional, exciting, inspiring. Thanks for this beautiful video.
Nice! More videos like this please. Very relaxing to watch with great music :)
Thank you! Happy to see such a warm reception for videos like this!
So satisfying to watch
Good music, good workflow! Thanks for sharing! 🔥🌊
Such a great video! I hope you plan on continuing to make this type of content. Music was on point too 👍🏽.
I watched this 4x on repeat because this all I really want to be doing in life... 🔥
Haha I feel you! The whole thing truly is a vibe. The music and all.
Amazing video!
That shot looked incredible 🤤
Very beautifully shot, and a nice shot !
Nice to use the natural light from the window, kind of envious since here in Sweden I don't see much of it on weekdays now in the winter. (Dark between 16:00 - 08:00)
ALSO, I really like the fact that you are showing a 6 bar shot, I have for a couple of years had my machine set at 6 bars.
And I feel more shots comes out really good, and at 9 bars, it's really easy to get channelling especially with high density coffees.
excellent! beautiful process and light
awesome, great work 🔥
Awesome video! Keep up the good work man :)
Love the chill video, Asa!
Perfect. A real treat. 👍
The lighting is wonderful! Very professional shooting btw. 👍
Thank you for the kind words my friend!
Very nice music.. great video, would not mind to see more of this in the future 😊
Lovely precision❤
Should’ve been the dullest video ever… loved every minute - cheers 🍻
Sucha a relaxing video! Thx!
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching
I barely have time for regular coffee…so a Breville pro is my jam. Still better than any coffee shop in my town. I wish I had time to be an enthusiast.
I could watch this on loop. :)
Coffeegasm 🎉
Beautiful video!
Thank you Miguel, thanks for watching.
Nice video - you do great ones! That said : Your workflow is good but I find filling the reservoir is something to be done before bedtime. Also when I wake up the first thing I do is go to the kitchen and throw the switch to my Ascaso Machine. I then go about washing my face and other morning duties before returning to the kitchen with a (by now) hot group and portafilter.
🥰Its A relaxing time
Great videography, besides great coffee making.
Man is a living legend
This is simply one of the best videos I’ve seen here on RUclips. I’ve been consuming RUclips content since the beginning. Especially now in the midst of AI and chat gpt taking over. Thank you.
thank you! Thats very kind of you to say, and I hope to be making more videos like this regularly.
That was beautiful
Thank you my friend 🙏
Thank you my friend.
Thanks for watching my friend
Great video 🔥🔥❤❤
Good evening! Great video! Any suggestions about water for Linea Mini?Im using Spa mineral water. Is a better choice out there?
Romantic of coffee
Great Video, as always. 👍 Keep up with your work!
May I ask which kind of matte you are using below the grinder, tamper etc. I am searching yomething very similar for my setup .. 😁
Hey! That's my local roaster. Been buying beans from them for years and they're the one of the very few roasters in San Diego that specializes in light roasts mostly.
They do a great job, and San Diego has a lot of solid roasters other than them too.
Just curious, do you use coarser grind for low pressure pre-infusion like you did in the video than the usual steady 9 bar pulls?
Hey spro! What's your shot time, yield and dose for this? Looks great!
Great video … especially that I have the same setup right now :) I wanted to ask you what is the temperature you set on the machine? Personally I like the most my light roast around 91deg Celsius, the measured extraction is still very high, EY around 22 for 1/2 (using paper below, puck screen on top). Many thanks and keep doing these excellent videos and reviews. Btw … I was very happy with ur Ditting LS review :) I had it for few months and I told everyone how not sweet espresso is from this grinder despite everyone loving it …
Love it - do you have a link for the cup you measured your beans in?
Spro be my main man! Dynamite video!
That is actually a tutorial!
Also, such good macro lenses.
For sure, there’s some knowledge to be absorbing in the workflow. Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed!
Espetacular!
Gracias, amigo!
Beaut as always
Can you please make a video on preinfusion in general? More time, less time, what will it affect and how?
can't wait to stick this on the tv when someone asks me to add my song to the playlist at a house party
Haha yes, this song slaps for sure.
something small as a question, what is the little steel dosing cup he used?
Really nice video 😍 one question: you're using the WPM for a long time, is this the best jug you've been using? Is it worth the price? :)
Excellent video presentation. Excellent music selection. Now... where was the coffee from?
Awesome video! Btw what is the song playing in this video called? Thanks!
0:42 fresh coffee? I see how it is, BRAD
What diameter do you prefer to use on your Sworksdesign WDT? Thanks.
Nice video! What are the name of those cups?
What cup is that, i really like the look. Better yet, what can i search for that style?
Three questions: 1. Had you already opened that bag of coffee? I would hope it was heat sealed when you got it. 2. Is the lever for the steam a bit of a nuisance to use or do you get used to it? 3. Why are there water drops on your window? I didn’t think it rained in San Diego.
No filter at the bottom and no puckscreen? I thought you said you liked them as they increase extraction.
I got my GS3 MP, do you find the IMS screen is a great improvement over the LM? Also, do you typically profile your shots at 3 and then stop at 6 bar? Not 9
The screens really don’t do anything other than cost more money. You have 9 bar of pressure built up on the puck so water doesn’t flow like you think under that pressure. The pressure evens out any areas of dispersion
Your video production hitting new levels. Curious, why do you pull at 6 bar? I assume that is linked to the 15sec pre infusion?
What dosing funnel do you use? Is it the same brand as your WDT tool? Or different?
I thought 9 bars was the gold standard for espresso. With 6 bars do you change the grind of the espresso so it is coarser? Also what bean to water ratio do you do?
Nice!
Thanks Jerry!
i can definitely smell it
what mugs are those ?
love them
Beautiful cup. What brand is that?
Coffee and tea collective have awesome coffee. Staff is awesome as well Go San Diego!
Agreed! One of my common stops and the staff for sure have it together!
@@Sprometheus How does the 6 bar taste? I'm at 9 and can't change it, so I do feel a bit too much of acidity on that specific blend.
Looking for other places that know the craft. Any recommendations would be great.
Loved the vid.
How long to shoot? How many shot sequences?
May I ask what dosing funnel you use? The ones I found on Amazon are not as deep as yours and reviews say the magnets are easy to fall off. I couldn't find anywhere obvious you mentioning it. Thank you!
Yeah, that one comes with the Option-O P64, you may be able to buy it separately I’m not sure. But it is the best one I’ve seen or used.
Haha when you had the shot looking down into the bag I though "wish I could smell inside that bag" then the little message pops up to rub my nose in it further
Haha it just smelled so good. That first whiff in the morning can’t be beat.
So nice.....
Some of the best caps I have had used clover milk 🐮🍀
It’s a solid brand for milk. I go back and forth between Clover and Horizon.
Clover has the best billboard signs as well.
I love relaxing videos like this, I need to make a new one since getting my P100. Do you use a macro lens?
For sure, I do too. I know it’s not really what people come to me for but it’s a nice break for me while I really drill down on those more focused videos. I don’t use a macro, I want one though. I’m just using the standard that comes with the Canon R6
@@Sprometheus Oh dude, I bet your channel would benefit greatly from the 100mm macro that Canon has. I'm a photography professor, you can trust my advice :P.
@@johnnyyacoub8772 I’ll look into it for sure! Thanks for the recommendation
Lovely. Maybe a better idea to let the machine / group head water flow into a reservoir so avoids the water mess and clean up tray part and steam into a towel as well.
Wondering if you're still rocking the SoCal Crystal Geyser water? I've been using it for awhile just a pain to restock the gallons.
I am. I switched to distilled and Perfect Coffee water for awhile, preferred the taste by a small margin, but found scale in my mini after 6 months so switched back.
@@Sprometheus Ahh good to know. I've been finding CG most consistently on-sale at Vons here in san diego ~$1/gallon but never know when it jumps back up to $1.5/gallon
Is it just me or do I feel like I’ve just had a session of therapy 😅
Loved this!
It’s not just you! I’ve been watching this all week before putting it out because it just hits so well.
@@Sprometheus more of these please! 🙏
Fucking beautiful camera work. That was a joy to watch
Beautiful video! What would you say your average latte workflow time is usually?
Thank you. I’d say about 2-3 minutes. My fridge and garbage can are in the other room so there’s some walking back and forth haha.
Nice coffee mug, what kind of brand?
That’s Odaka home, links to all the gear in the description
that music!!!
Where did you get your table mat ?
That was a really nice and relaxing video, thanks a lot!
PS: you either have several good quality cameras, or you pulled several good quality espresso shots for this video 😉
Thank you, glad you enjoyed! And just one camera, so had to do some extra work to pull off the continuity.
Nice video! What music is this?
i think what wouldve made this video 10x better is if it were an ASMR style video without the electronic music! could be fun to toy around with that style :)
do you get better results with the nano-shower?
I did a video on this a little while back, I found the difference to be minimal, but it does produce a nicer more even flow, and also cleaner shot to shot, and over time.
Hi everyone, i'm a newbie here. What is the ratio between coffee and milk? And is it the same between hot and iced latte? Thanks!
Depends on the type of drink you’re making and the size of the cup, of course. The shots of espresso will take up so much space and then the remainder of the cup is for the milk. Different drinks have different ratios so it would depend on the type of drink you want. A cortado (equal parts espresso/textured milk is typically in a 4.25-4.5oz cup) or a true cappuccino (espresso, milk, foam in a 6.5oz cup) will offer more espresso taste whereas a latte in a bigger cup will be more milk. You have to figure out what your preferred drink is first. Of course you can add more espresso or less depending on how “strong” you prefer the flavor.
For iced, you’ll typically use more milk since you’re not stretching it through the steaming process so there is no air added. But the ice does take up the space in those drinks. I personally like lots of ice in iced drinks if I ever drink them to keep the ratios and flavor. Nothing worse than so much milk (or water if you were doing an americano) it completely drowns the espresso. I would figure out what type of drink you like and then look up the ideal recipe to create that.
detail please? coffee bean weight, milk volume etc
Hello Sir! How do I acquire everything in this video? Please send me links to every item! Mille Grazie Andrea Carlini
what do with grinds what do
What track is that playing in the background? Love it
Hey! The track is The Blue Jay by Mintz
@@Sprometheus Thank you! Great video as usual 🙂
