This channel is so refreshing for me. You have a calming and relaxing way of reviewing products and making coffee that is rare to find online. It’s an honor to be part of the community, and from what I’ve seen you’re a passionate and dedicated person, if taking longer breaks and more rest helps you grow in all of those areas then not only does that excite me more for your future content but it lets you find time for your other passions and hobbies. Rest up Sprometheus, thanks for what you do and who you are!
Well said Logan! Thank you for that, and I do think having more time both on and off camera as well as a bit if an aesthetic change will be refreshing to everyone, inducing myself, and different styles of content.
Do whatever makes you happy and pay the bills man, we'll be here for you!
Thank you! Looking forward to the changes and being able to bring a new energy to the channel!
Yours is the second burnout video released today by a hobby channel I follow! I feel like we're in a moment right now where people need to step back a bit and assess how things are going. The key to happiness with any hobby is to never let it become a chore. I'll be around to watch your next video whenever you decide the time is right to put it out! Wishing you all the best from Canada!
We will follow you wherever you go. Stay safe bro
Thank you my friend! Much appreciated, and thanks for being a channel member!
Happy to be part of your community!
Thanks Jon, and yeah you absolutely are. There are a few dozen names on here that I remember seeing all the time over the years and yours is one of them. Cheers!
i'd like you to know that for me, your content keeps me curious and leads me to coffee & equipment places i wouldn't ordinarily explore. i do coffee very well because of this. Thank you.
I’m glad to hear that, and truly that’s always been the aim. Cheers my friend!
Thank you my friend. Have yourself a great weekend ahead. ☕️
You’re welcome Cheekster! You as well!
Good for you, buddy! Coming up with great content every week is a grind. I'm glad to see you're not leaving RUclips.
For a few years I've really struggled against this notion that we all need to just "work" non-stop all day and night.
I've never been a fan of that idea, and I guess I've never pushed that hard. People like to equate success to that mentality, but frankly I see a wide spectrum of lazy assholes who are successful, and also see really hard working people never get anywhere in a career. Success is a lottery, and I'm not about to throw away my life, buying tickets for that lottery.
Now-a-days when people tell me (or imply) I should be working more I just immediately dismiss them. Make meaningful work. Don't work so much that the fruits of your labour become meaningless.
I'm in software development, and am a junior. So there's an overwhelming pressure from experienced developers to push and work unlimited hours. Starting to really bother me.
Yeah, I think the modern “hustle” and “l’ll sleep when I’m dead” culture is built on the notion that America, and other placed are a meritocracy. That’s not true, there’s huge amounts of luck and timing, and other factors involved but in a lot of cases it’s not how hard you work.
But I’m with you. As a human, I don’t think we were designed to work 8,10,12 hours plus a day, it’s soul crushing no matter the industry.
I think there are seasons in life where it is very reasonable to take breaks. Hard Work in my opinion is a component of success but breaks are also
Stay gold....and caffeineated!!!
Thanks Kevin, you too! I appreciate your kind words and your membership to my channel!
Good for you, take care of yourself and do what makes you happy
Thanks, and yes that’s the aim moving forward!
One of the things I like most about you and your channel, beyond your obvious knowledge and experience, is that you’re passionate and authentic. So, in my opinion, this slight change is absolutely in keeping with the ethos of your channel and content.
But most importantly of all, you’ve got to think about your mental and physical wellbeing. If stuff is stressing you out or is boring you, don’t do it. Do what makes you happy.
Ultimately, if you’re excited and energised by what you’re doing, the content will be better anyway.
The Mila Coffee shirt!!!! They are a staple here in San Antonio!
If you feel happier and more relax doing these videos,we will continue to appreciate each of them, you are a calming, very clear of explaining things,❤
There’s a reason (many really) that productions have seasons. Time off to refresh and re-focus is one of them. Thanks for what you’re producing.
2024 so far has been the year of reflection for many YTbers, many of them have retired or scaled production back tremendously.
I wish you good luck and godspeed in all your future beginnings. Thank you so much for your valuable contribution to coffee community, our community. Excited for you. New and fresh is a step in the right direction.
Yeah, I understand very well. I used to be a bit too intense but with introspection I've stopped obsessing so much about always becoming better, bigger, more successful, watch numbers go up. I've burned out once already and I'm barely 30. Instead of waiting decades for retirement before I finally enjoy my life I have decided to work as little as possible and have fun everyday.
Take your time and make sure that you're proud of your work! Enjoy your life. I feel we're very similar. Life is not all about being popular and rich. I don't have any social media haha and I don't need more than like 100k annually alone, maybe 150k as a couple. That's enough for a very nice life where I am.
I am new to the espresso making hobby, but have been a coffee lover all my life. I am so grateful for the content you have created and will be discovering many of them for the first time so, give yourself props for contributing so much to this community this far, and find the balance going forward that truly satisfies you. I’ll stay tuned for more 👍
Do what you need to do , if it doesn't do it for you what's the point . You do a great job we should all be grateful.
Thanks Phil! Much appreciated my friend!
Where ever you go we will follow, always fun, informative and superbly done.
If you are passionate about what you do. There will always be an audience. No matter what the frequency of the videos. I love coffee and only follow-up two high quality channels. Yours and James Hoffman. I like YOU just being YOU!
I think your plan is the best for both you and your community. I’m happy to be part of it.
Oh, hey, sprometheus, great to hear about your reflections on where you have come from and where you want to go. I still remember digging into learning about coffee and finding your channel. Thanks for those! 😊 ❤
Thank you for sharing your time and energy with us. You walked.. so we can run, and i hope you take more time for yourself and happy to see you do what feels the most right to you.
First of all, you really helped with all the great videos when I started the espresso journey. And the fact that you called out Weber key and your honest reviews drew me in.
You shouldn’t focus on the label of social media defining who you are, and you are running away from that label because you don’t consider yourself being one. Just man up and accept it. You are who you are.
People wanted your expertise, we don’t have first hand experience with a lot of coffee gear. Your comparison or just thoughtful insight would be enough. We don’t need to see anything esthetic or the weird asmr videos. We just want your input on any news or updates or even updates on new 2024 stuff.
Or your favorite stuff or techniques updated.
Don’t be stressing out because no one’s expecting you to put out any videos that is crazy production or content. Just do you
I’m totally fine with all of these planned upcoming changes to the channel. ☕️ 👊🏻
I've been a big fan of your coffee videos for a while now, and I'm always impressed by your passion for the craft. I know you've been juggling a lot lately between your RUclips channel, your other work, and your personal life, and I just wanted to take a moment to say that I admire your dedication to all of them.
No matter what you decide to do in the future, I know that you'll be successful. You're a talented and hardworking person, and you have a clear vision for what you want to achieve. I'm also confident that you'll find a way to balance your work and personal life in a way that makes you happy.
In the meantime, I'll keep enjoying your videos and learning from your expertise. Thank you for sharing your love of coffee with the world!
Quality, sanity, and the absence of tiredness are better than mere quantity. Sounds like a prudent adjustment. All the best!
Thanks for the great content over the past few years, look forward to being part of the community, wherever it is in the future. Thank you.
I completely understand you. As a content creator I agree that it is really draining work to do.
I really appreciate your honesty, and making the time to explain yourself how you feel and why do you do what you do.
Just wanna say that you helped and you will keep helping a lot of people with your content. We all really appreciate you.
Thanks for everything
Your channel is the only coffee channel I watch consistently. I trust your opinion and conclusions derived from your extensive processes. So I’m glad you’re not quitting! Haha! I’ll look forward to your vids either way. Shalom, Spro!
Great insight! I always enjoy your viewpoints and honest opinions.
This is healthy AF, Spro! Take care of you first. Binge Fallout, if you haven't. We'll be here.
I always watch videos when you release. Its became a part of my life and escaping from life's rush. Wish you best and just do what you wanna do staying with your community.
Thanks for what you do. From the for what its worth department, you would be in a bad way if your hands were tied behind your back.
As for coffee videos - yours is a pleasure to watch, and thanks for your thoughts and showing me how to make a cortado , and flavor profiling!
I think you are great, definitely amongst the best of all/any RUclipsr content makers - your videos aren’t too long or too short - pretty much just right
I like your format it’s devoid of fat. My favourite easily, and I am subscribed to many coffee channels/influencers
I’m so glad you’re focusing on yourself.❤
Take care buddy. Good on you for taking steps to look after yourself.
More power to you for going your way - I came to your channel and subscribed on the back of your in-depth review on the Arco 2in1 grinder I pledged on Kickstarter way back in 2020, your content and introspection impressed me. Community is a rarity I feel these days, promoting it is the only way to bring it back. Thank you.
As someone who’s been damaging his health quite badly by overworking myself, I am happy to see you making the decision to be taking care of yourself.
Definitely support your choices. There is no community without you. And I’d take quality over quantity any day.
i think this video is great. mental health and balance FTW. I love your content, and i'm totally good with fewer videos these days. looking forward to continuing to see your great content!
I hear you. I lasted 4 years on RUclips before burning out. Pace yourself Bro. Being a one man show is tough, especially if you have high standards.
Love you spro
FROM YOU, ARAMSE, MY COFFEE SHOW, JAMES HOFFMAN, WIRED GOURMET, ive learned so much and never felt like i was watching an ad.
So many reviewers come off as a spokesperson for a new product. The real sprometheus feels honest and unbiased. Not worried about fame glory and a rich thirst for more followers.
Stay genuine but stay caffeinated
Take care of yourself dude! Looking forward to the new pacing and what you put out next. Hope you get respite.
You’ve done a great job, and your videos are some of the best out there. Do what brings you happiness and the rest will always fall in place. Looking forward to your future content.
Look after yourself my man. Grateful to have learned a lot from your experiences.
I would be so stoked to hang in a livestream of yours!
Looking forward to your new stuff.
Thanks for leading the culture on this one / reconcidering what work means to you (...and so all of us.) xx
I like random/less frequent uploads, because every time there's a new video it's a nice surprise
You've been kind of alluding to this for awhile. I knew this was coming. I've known for years that yt is gradually suffocating the smaller channels.
But I'm still disappointed. And I hope whatever you do brings you joy.
What is the current state of the coffee routine ASMR and/or calming music videos! I would love to see as many of those as possible! They’re my favorite thing to watch before headed to bed
good for you
Thank you my friend!
sounds like a good balanced approach to me...although i do look forward to that video every week but that will help me work on patience in this "instant " world we live in especially post covid i think
I get you! And the folks who often tell me they look forward to Fridays and my releases were in the back of my mind when making this decision, but I knew those folks would also be the most understanding.
And yeah, I think Covid really put me into a workflow that was unsustainable. I had no where to go and nothing to do for a year plus and now that things are “normal”-ish, something had to give.
you do that poniboi
You got this bro. I Livestream in 1080p only so your other camera will be fine
Thank you my friend! And yeah my main 4K camera overheats in 30 min so it’s not in the cards, just gotta get the details figured out but excited to take on a different content angle as well. Cheers!
@@Sprometheus totally makes sense. I use the fx3 and fx30 for that very reason
@@Sprometheus Man, I don't know about your current setup, but I agree with the other commenter. Though, I wouldn't recommend getting Sony FX3. FX3 is just Alpha 7S III, but in a different body. Watch Gerald Undone's review of FX3. So if I were you, I would go either 7S III or Alpha ZV-E1 instead. Slap a Sony FE 35 mm F1.8 (I use it with my Alpha 7 IV) on it and boom, you get 4K/60p, best auto-focus on the market today, and (which is important) no annoying focus breathing.
Wishing you a lot of quality of life! Congratz for the initiative
Seems to me like a wise choice and you’re not the only RUclipsr who’s doing this. 👍
I’m looking forward to the next ‘thing’ that you’ll throw at me and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it, as always. 👊
❤ I will be following you. Glad you're taking care of yourself🎉. Magic
After all the daily grind in the coffee RUclips content space you can now crash into the even more expensive world of tea. At least I thought I don't need these expensive machines, but then I realized that even a good (handmade) teapot is more expensive than the first espresso machine I bought and we are not even talking about the tea per cup price here.
wish you all the best... one important thought: perhaps it is the AUDIENCE out there, which drives the creators into that position - that they cannot produce RELEVANT stuff at the right time, but are -more ore less- urged to produce more and more, to drive the seo-algos etc., which themselves are fueled by the audience bevavirour.. a typical viciuous circle
I'm not sure why anyone would think Full HD is not good enough for a RUclips stream ... ;)
Haha well as someone who watches YT/Twitch on a TV it can be a little spotty from time to time, especially when you’re used to looking at 4k videos. It’s just a mental thing on my end haha.
@@Sprometheus Ah fair enough ;) I guess there's "HD" and there's "HD"! I work in video and still have an old HD B cam which looks great :)
Love your videos man! I'm new to the coffee world but they've already been helpful. But take a break dude! Balanced life > balanced coffee
Understandable call.
There's a recent DOAC video conversation between Steve Bartlett and Mo Gawdat, that covers exactly this "more is better" fallacy, and burn out. Mo even questions Steve as to why he does 2 interviews a week instead of just 1 "kick-arse one" per week.
You're on the right track
Look after yourself, do what's right for you.
You did really a lot! Post something on a YT from time to time, just that we know you are ok...
Of course, you’ll still be getting regular content, just at a different rate and in different formats
Excited to see the new stuff. Not a fan of these live 2-4 hour long videos that seem to have gotten popular. Don't understand them but maybe need to try again.
Glad to support you though and screw the up line!
Cant blame you bro , just keep the quality work and don’t worry about the quantity 👍🏻
Do what makes you happy, life is short!
He’s finally realized that home espresso-like champagne and orthodontics-is complete bullshit; all three are a waste of money.
We will be here for you. Take care of yourself and enjoy life.
Where you go we will follow.
OH CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN🫡
God bless and thank you!
Make sure to get enough breaks, I hear a lot about new content as well but it shouldn't get in the way of breaks and relaxation. For me total relaxation is what makes you able to go on. Just my two cents.
Good for you Spro. Take care of you. We'll be here for you
Thanks Matthew! I appreciate the kind words and of course your support of what I do!
@@Sprometheus no worries. Remember that RUclips creator and viewer are a two-way street. Not only are you here for us, but we are here for you. You can use this as a sounding board, and you can embrace your viewers as a pseudo therapist. There are viewers of all types on this channel. And there are some of us who truly care for you as a person, and not just your content.
Saw your ecm synchronika review...you mentioned liking something more than the e61 group...what is your current favorite rig?
Hay I have one idea for u create a business where you help a coffee shop create a great machinery set up that makes amazing coffee taste and use the channels your business card so you can grow at the same time in two different ways
Quality over quantity - know where my loyalty lies - see ya soon Spro.
Love it !!
Do you need a video editor bro?
I can do a sample video ;)
Good luck SBrometheus
Burned out😢
Are you talking about some community platform where you keep all rights to your content and people make a more decisive choice to join your community for extras, like Locals? You closed your Patreon about a month after I signed up.
Good video :)
It’s not clickbait, but…
Just honest opinion. When I saw a video o you making coffee with detail sounds, I'll skip. Sure they are calm and soothing. For the first few that I saw. But there are hundreds of them each week. It became just one of hundreds.
Sorry or my honesty
You’re allowed to have preferences. I don’t expect everyone to like everything I post.
@@Sprometheus I do enjoy some older contents like explaining the roast process. I even enjoyed the interaction between u and Weber. Which I am also not a big fan of.
Spro - you need an intern.
Love ya dude, but "be you" and stop the comparison and algorithm focus. Who cares? You're awesome and authentic, although a bit fragile.
Don't whine. If I run into, you have a free (safe) hug.
Good to hear it.
The post-SCA video was so tone deaf and pathetic I very nearly unsubscribed.
It seems being able to judge tone still isn’t something you’re all that good at.
And considering my focus is not on numbers, and my renewed aim on building a kind, welcoming community that sort of attitude towards honesty, and my personal experiences means I urge you to unsubscribe. You will not be missed.
What exactly do you think is helpful about this comment?
@@Sprometheus
I judged your tone fine, because interpretation is entirely subjective.
You wrote and recorded an entire video about your disillusionment at going to an event that you didn’t get enough out of because you were in the privileged position to be exposed to many of the most-interesting products in advance, by nature of being an influencer, reviewer or commentator.
The situation that you have fallen into, despite its hardships and stresses, is privileged. Companies send you collateral with which to make content that garners sponsorship and revenue as well as stimulating you on a personal level.
Interpretation of tone notwithstanding, intention does not always correlate with affect.
So just like you stopped roasting, give yourself time away, don’t fall out of love with what you enjoy, and come back with a clear perspective.
@@adamg.manning6088 your interpretation of me being “tone deaf” and “pathetic” when I’m open about my failures and frustrations with what I planned to do vs what actually happened shows an extreme lack empathy, and it’s likely because you have your own perceptions and ideas of what being an “influencer” is like.
And the fact that I’m privileged was something I even talked about in that video just shows you either didn’t watch it, or took away something entirely different than what I said.
So I’d say consider your tone and approach to your comments prior to posting. If you were to say something like the last sentence of your last post I’d have absolutely no smoke for you. But, you attacked me as pathetic and tone deaf, and I stand by my statement of building a kind and welcoming community here and I will unapologetically enforce it.
@@Sprometheus
I attacked the video.
It seemed out of touch.
I have nothing against you as a person and I don’t mean to conflate the two.
Don’t you sign off every video with a Get Up Kids reference? (From what I can tell)
I’d probably like that person a lot.
But in that video, you sounded spoiled. Like that you were jaded. It sounded ungrateful.
I've experienced burnout many times, it's brutal - I can hear it in your voice, I know what you're going through. I believe the answer is to only do content that you enjoy, and simply let your audience/community find you. There's nothing better than people that accept and like you for you! Take a nice long break if needed, and come back strong and sustainably. Don't worry about people "forgetting about you" - I took a whole year off social media, and people were there with open arms when I came back. You've got this :)
I care about and appreciate you, man. Thanks for the update!
Thanks Kristo, I appreciate that and the support! Looking forward to a nice refresh in June and heard what y’all think of the changes.
Selfishly, I’ll miss the weekly videos. But you certainly can’t be killing yourself for my personal benefit! And no, I don’t mean you are letting me (or anyone else) down. Time is the most valuable resource you have. And since you don’t know how much of it you get, it is PRECIOUS (italicized, not shouted); don’t waste it. Especially not on us. We’re greedy.
speaking as a subscriber you really don’t have to make a video every single week. no one will noticw
if you take a break and no one will unsubscribe because of that. take it easy (if you can afford it financialy of course) 😅
Seems like almost every content creator I watch has said the same thing in the past few months. Glad you are seeking some balance.
Does someone knows what brand of cabinet Is that one?
Take back control, take care!
Bravo man, Im happy for you.
Life is not work, it the time you spend away from work. Great to see you rocognise this and the impact to your physical and mental health before you broke one or both.
Excellent video, I will continue to follow and subscribe regardless of your content direction because you are more than a coffee content creator, you also come across as a thoroughly decent and considerate human being.
Your channel has been my coffee journal motivation.
All I know about espresso came from your platform.
I will miss the weekly videos and shorts that served as my evening quiet time!!
You will do well wherever life leads you Spro.
Thank you so much for your dedication to the craft.
Thanks. You look after you first, have balance in your life. I really enjoy your work.
