Excellent video, Jonathan! You did a great job of describing things verbally and showing them visually - very easy to follow. I have a Kia, not a Honda, but I still learned a lot that I might be able to use. Thank you!
I got this video in my algorithm mistakenly, but I appreciate you showing us every bloody step by step and explaining the reasons. It's still crazy you all drive on the wrong side of rode and your steering wheel is also incorrect but what the hell good video.
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!! Wow U Nailed it. It's been a year water leak for my 2003 Civic LX manual. Multiple temp fixes never was able to PinPoint it. The SEAMS!!!! BINGO. I started ripping apart to realize it's been coming thru the firewall and 2+ cracked seams thank you for a Great DETAILED Video. Saving me $$$$$$ on a diy fix. I truly appreciate it 💯❣️👊
Really good technique. My 1990 Integra has the same type of leak even though it's a different car but it's a Honda. This is the best video I have seen of the many that I looked at. Thank you.
Thank u very much, i had this problem about 2 years.. today i just found same problem like u, i will repair it as soon as possible. Thank u very much !
I had the same problem in the trunk of my EJ8. I found a small crack in the seam sealer but I just put some clear silicone on it and it's dry as a bone in my trunk now. They way you sealed yours is the proper way to do it though! nice video
Nicely done! I've had the carpet out of my '00 EM1 Civic for 2 years dealing with this...really take away from enjoying your car and I may be selling so hoping to fix this soon. Same thing after heavy rain...really pools up only mine is Canadian so drivers side. Only difference I can stand there spraying all the same areas you did for 10mins and not a drop....after a heavy rain, totally soaked. I suppose I'll have to dig a little deeper to see that corner but I guess I wouldn't have to remove the blower assembly would I. I just threw baby powder up in that area and I'm waiting to trace the trickle to the source but not enough rain yet lol.
100% it's a huge turn off driving especially when you see the water sloshing around in there haha. I hope this is your fix! And baby powder trick.. never heard of that one!
@ericlindsey1708 I have the leak this guy has in the video but also another 2 leaks both door trims on top are letting water in.ima try adjusting door latch so more pressure on trim when closed
Hey mate No you cannot access this through the fender - I've seen others cut through the chassis to get to the seam from the other side but I much prefer this method
Thank you. I will have to do the same. On my vehicle. Have the same leak. On the passanger side. Its been 2 weeks. Since i discovered. That there was a leak under the carpet. I will have to reasemble more stuff before I see the leak. Visually. But. Because it is winter here. It is not possible. To work outside at 0 temp. But i have to. Go from time to time. And collect the water from the carpet. After a rainy day. Yes. This is the only way. To save your vehicle from rusting. Beyond. Repair. Thank you. For the good tips.
I believe that I have this issue as well with my Civic as it's been a continuous thing for years. I already changed my gasket and cleaned out the gunk yet the rather slow leak continues. I think I can do most of it but my main issue is degassing the AC as I have no clue what I'm doing there and worried about dealing with the refrigerant. How did you do it and is it difficult to do?
The best way to deal with refrigerant is to take it to a local mechanic or autoelec who does AC and get them to drain the system. I had two cars needing it done so I had a mobile technician come out to me. Then once you've got it all sorted they can regas your AC
My EK has the same issue, but it's not quite as bad as yours. There's maybe a teaspoon of water underneath my ECU, will probably end up doing this over the winter as I won't need AC during the winter!
Great video bro my issue was the fender grommet. I have no idea how you removed the windshield cowl without breaking those top clips the moment I put a flat head under the lip of them they snapped any tips?
Hey mate I'm kicking myself i didn't record that part. The reality is these clips are fragile yet i managed to save all but 1. I had 2 tiny flat head screw drivers i used like chopsticks to pry/leverage it out. Take your time prying them side by side until you can fit both screw drivers in the gaps. When you can fit both screw drivers, gently pincer the grommet and pull upwards. It should pop out with a moderate amount of force. Good luck mate if you get stuck msg me on insta and i'll send you a video of me doing it.
I have a Honda civic 1997 with a sunroof and my car does the same thing water comes thru the corner and I’ve also notice that water goes thru my sunroof and in that corner in the passenger side I’ve tried to look for a weatherstrip for sunroof but I can’t find one also my water goes inside my door any help?
Interesting video, I have a similar waterleak since over 4 years now in my eg civic. I think it comes from somewhere behind the fender, sealed all things behind but without success. And I don't want to remove the air blower cause I fear that something breaks.
Hi mate It's definitely worth doing and i know of two other people who have since fixed water leaking into the cabin on these civics. I believe it's quite universal across all 90s honda platforms and of course the age of the car. If it helps, the blower isn't as fragile as you think. Held in by screws only, no clips or adhesive used. I've parked it outside for about 3 months now and have not had any water in the cabin. Good luck!
@@JCYT Thanks for your reply, maybe I will try to remove the blower. I allready removed the glove box but I couldn't see any water trace, it looks like coming from the area where the hole is for the sunroof drains but not from the drain itself.
My 97 hatch had same issue and was a crack in firewall seam sealer, now after 9 months I've bought a 99 hatch and got same issue, really a pain to do this all over again 😢
This video might save me. I have an 02 civic coupe. Everytime it rains, there's a pool of water on the driveer side. I took my car to a body shop and was sure the leak came from around my windshield but it still leaks after they gave it back to me. Im slowly giving up.

Owned it since 2009 and only just noticed a rusty passenger side seat mounting bolt, wondered why and pulled up the floor carpet,....yup underneath of carpet soaking wet and actual floor wet. Was yours only the passenger side or driver's side too?
Hi mate Interesting it only seems to happen on the passenger side RHD. I haven’t heard of it happening on both sides. If it was I'd suspect the windshield seal

@@TheAnnieSisters Not as yet, cleaned out the cowl drain channel under the plastic cowl cover (it was blocked with 22 years worth of leaves and debris), next going to tackle the seam on the fire wall, pretty sure it could be the source of the leak..
Hey mate Best get a professional to degas. But a few ways to do it. You can loosen the bolts on the compressor, and go for a long drive. or use a screw driver to slowly release to atmosphere. I do not recommend either ways, it's just a way to do it ;)

I feel for you mate the not knowing really put me off doing it too. So i parked it up for a few months haha! Maybe wait until winter so you'll have time to verify if this was actually your issue. I've never heard of this leak coming from the CL9 though? Have you had a windscreen replaced? Could it be a blocked sunroof drain?
@Jonathan Chow I think I need to get a brushable seam sealer as well as the sika do you have any recommendations? the primer you used has bad reviews on bunnings website so now I'm scared to pick that one, any other suggestions? Sika only recommend their own one of course
@Jonathan Chow hey I have no other way to msg .you , sorry . Where do you get your clips etc from? I am having the hardest time replacing the clip in the A-pillar next to the airbag. I only see overseas sites who have it or say the part is discontinued ?
