Does the Polar Star affect your viewpoint on Childe's status as an F2P friendly character?
Childe himself is alr f2p friendly. But having a weapon performing slightly better than a Thundering pulse is a good upgrade. People can easily justify skipping constellations (cus theyre garbage if youre rotating properly) and just pull c0 childe and an r1 polar
Childe is not F2P friendly as he is weak without the proper teams. In order to build him a good team, you need to build more characters which spreads your resin thin. That's as a min maxer, if you're a casual you don't care since you just play for fun. overall as F2P there are other better dps characters
@@foolpersona_ not f2p friendly for NEW players. F2p players that have been playing for months most likely have enough resources to invest in a xiangling a vv unit and a bennett.

yeah I mean you have to consider what went into it. c6 childe with r1-r5 5 star weapons, c2 kazuha with r5 5 star weapon, c4 mona, ttds, c5 bennett highest possible base (aquilla or mistsplitter). At that point, if you're not hitting one million, you're doing something wrong.
The standard of dmg will eventually get higher, before it was like 50k, later on, is 100k, 300k, and then suddenly 1m
One year later the standard will be much higher than it is now.

just imagine if there were an alternative version that was purple and was called Polar Phantasmagoria for Fischl, it would fit her so well :D

After switching from R3 Rust to R1 Polar Star (and changing crt rate hat to crt dmg) the damage got increased by ~30-40%.
And that's with moderately decent artifacts
I got 2 copies of Polar Star. I was hesitant to R2 it for Childe. And voila! I learn that Polar Star is Fischl’s BiS too? WOW! Ok, time to level up 2 Polar Stars for my Taser Childe team!
That's a lot of resource to spend on two same weapon to lvl 90. But if it worth to you, go for it! Congrats on getting two polar

And that's a lot. For me, R2 it so you can deal more damage with childe and for support fishcl stringless is the way to go cause it boost your E and Q without needing to built a stack.

Polar star is also really good on Ganyu as well

I love how Fischl just keeps getting mild potential buffs in every way shape and form and (almost) nobody cares or notices. Shes not broken 5 star destroyer or anything but i swear Mihoyo likes Amy.
That's pretty much Childe. He gets some kind of buff every patch. Plus, 2 reruns. Mihoyo loves Childe.
Same thing with amber she can use the polar star for her bunny build quite well for some burst dmg.

@@Ottobon i kinda hate it, I'm getting 5* bows one after another and yet here I am losing to every character banner... yep lost on childe banner. Seriously I could have appreciated it if I lost to lost prayer, wolf's gravestone, or primordial but... seriously just don't give me any bows... I don't even use dps bow characters (or should I say I don't have any)
@@oddpotato4038 Are you usually pulling on the weapon banner first or something? If so, maybe you should consider the other way around - especially for bow users.
Ok ok for ME, my previous Tartaglia build with rust was pretty mediocre not really the best stats.
But I recently got polar star R1 and it made my Tartaglia way better, so for me it’s a solid weapon because I was able to fix my trash build for him.
Yeah it is definitely easier to build for non whales. High Crit.R plus atk% means you can focus more on Crit.D and get a more even spread of stats.
syward harp or thunder pulse is good for that too... i did pulled for the weapon and im really happy, but if i had any of those bows i wouldnt pull.
@@vickdinvick5485 Yeah they all do that, but that doesn't make Polar Star bad because the others can do the same thing. If you don't have any of them, they are all good to pull.

@@bromegaman5962 Agree. All you usually need is one 5* of each weapon to do nice dmg. They outshine the 4*'s bcs higher stats but if you compare 5* with 5* you can end up getting little to no improvements. For f2p just look for the big dps jump and avoid the min-max part on paid items.
I use The Viridescent Hunt for Childe. It brings enemies close together while you melee them and increases CRIT Rate. I might not even want the Polar Star, even though I can afford it.
But there is a HUGE dmg different and the CD is really long
True, you don't need to min-max every characters, you need to build Supports too

@@henriquefinger935 5 star catalyst is the one thing i don't want to get right now, as i don't use a single catalyst user. I'd take any other type over it tbh. There are just too few catalyst users in the game and barely any really good ones. I can only think of mona really, everyone else is just decent but replacable by someone else.

I would like to imagine Polar Star is a reference to Shokugeki no Soma (Food Wars) because Childe is clearly Isshiki in disguise and his preferred bow is a reference to Kyokusei dormitory. All other analysis is irrelevant.

i might not be getting the best upgrade because i already have r5 prototype for ganyu, but OH BOY it looks incredibly cool, and nothing beats that.

Polar Star is very good on Freeze Ganyu, since you want your burst to do dmg as you will be spamming it. Your ult dmg will be buffed by Polar Star. And Freeze Ganyu usually do E, Q, charge shot normally anyway. Adding a quick normal shot into her combo takes no effort.
For Melt Ganyu, the Amos is better because you want the big nuke dmg from Melting your charge shot and Amos buff your charge shot dmg.

@@Aliens1337 yea i never tried support ganyu, when she came out i was ready for a support, turns out she wasnt so i just forgot about it. also, i can normal attack into charge without charging it fully, that would be more stacking quickly.

Polar Star looks way too pretty to be Childe's signature weapon. I'm currently rocking Thundering Pulse because the stats are wild, and it was love at first sight as soon as it was leaked.
It looks great with his hydro blade animation, I feel like it was offered by the tsaritsa to the harbingers since it's ice themed

Was going for the 4 star claymour and got polar star, memory of dust and then finally the claymour in 30 pulls. My luck was weird, but now I am sure it is empty.

Im really happy that I got polar star for my boy. Everyone can hate on his damage, but among all the characters, I personally believe he is simply just the most endlessly fun character in the game at the moment. Cant wait for a new character to compete with him for this spot, but It could be a while

He specialize to obliterate smaller mob
The more of them coming to childe, the faster childe beat them.
He isn't really good with bosses, n its to balance his kit n i think its fair.

Childe is the opposite of yoimiya
While childe focus dealing a bunch of enemy at once n shine brighter that way, yoimiya good to fight bosses cus her damafe focused on 1 enemy.
I pair him with yoimiya together with 1 cc n pretty much fun

His only advantage is he can hut multiple enemies which is satisfying not gonna lie, his attack speed is also great but that happiness lasts too short (i'm talking about his E cooldown) which is irritating even with chongyun's c2. Hu tao, however, is more intense because you have to keep watch of your hp, jump cancel, and time the right rotations (shielder, xq's ult, and melt enabler)
@@maverick9860 also hu tao's specialty does not really revolve around nukes alone? Her charged attacks are just as satisfying as childe's for me. She's like female pyro xiao but more continuous dashes, I personally haven't mastered her jump cancelling (bc i have slow hands) but that's what makes her even more fun imo
Everything about my Childe is almost perfect, I have his best teammates, I lucked out with perfect HoD artifacts, his talents are high and his e is crowned and he has a level 9 burst, except I only have an r1 rust on him. If I get polar star I’d have the perfect Childe, but I can’t justify pulling on the weapon banner for it because I’m planning on pulling for Itto and Gorou, and I can’t risk not getting them and memory of dust is useless for me. I don’t even really need it since my Childe can clear everything in the game easily, but it would be nice to be able to say I maxed him out and got him to his highest potential. I think I’ll wait until there’s a weapon I want with skyward harp as the secondary weapon (hopefully Itto’s weapon banner will have it) and that way if I get either weapon I would be happy

The reason why Aloy considered *_“bad”_* is because her skill trigger is so clunky. The enemies need to hit those landmine to trigger her cryo attack. But on the other hand, she spam burst like crazy. Oftentimes she will be like Venti; waiting for her burst's cooldown to end because she already gathers enough energy to use it.
@@souffle420 For Aloy's skill I paired her with Sucrose (Venti would probably work just as well if not better), as her skill pulls the ennemies _and_ _the_ _mines_ together, it works quite well with the Swirl shred on top and makes her pretty fun to use xD

At the end of the day, be it 4 or 5 stars, she's a free character, so no use expecting too much I guess ^^'

Already got childe from his first showcase so I figured I'd try to get his bow rust refines or that new claymore.
Was only able to get the other 2 so I'm glad that came to be despite costing me my entire stash.

i got lucky and got the bow in 30 pulls, and so far it's been great at R1 on my C0 childe. i don't have thundering pulse or any other good bow besides rust, so i personally don't regret pulling (especially because i'm a simp and want to build my best boy with his signature weapon lol)
I feel like having better whale options doesnt mean not f2p friendly. F2p friendly means the characters value is easy to unlock without constellations or weapon banner. Childe having a new stronger option in no way nerfs the previous options he already had. Those options are still the same value to a f2p as they were before the new bow.
F2p friendly isnt "how much stronger is a whales than mine" its "how much value does this add to my account conpared to the options i have".
This is why hu tao is not f2p friendly imo. She legitimately has like no good weapon options outside of Homa and Deathmatch (except dragons bane which makes her even more XQ reliant) and C1 fixes her biggest problem (stamina) and makes her play completely differently. Without those shes pretty much worse than Xiangling and basically same power level of Diluc with a 4* weapon. Meaning shes not really a cheap investment to actually get value you didnt already have if you already have one of those things (which everyone has xiangling).
Eula on the other hand (a unit seen as not F2p friendly commonly because the difference in value from constellations) absolutely slaps at C0 with a blacksmith weapon and uses uncommon supports that take little investment and have pretty much all been a guaranteed drop at some point.
Its not about comparing your unit to a whales unit. Its about comparing your unit to your other units. Eula adds a new team comp and new support options to your account for a competitive comp and basically plays the exact same C0 to C6 and has access to smith weapons. All C6 is is increasing her already really big number. A 400k nuke is alot for a f2p. More than any of their other units will likely get. What does it matter if she could have hit 5 million. Whales hitting 5 million doesnt make a f2p hitting 400k any less awesome for them. While hu tao at C0 with a 4* weapon adds basically notbing to your account you couldnt already do and even competes for supports with your xiangling cause both want XQ.
So i dont see why childe having a bow that gives him a numbers increase invalidates any of the value he already had before that bow for a f2p.
Basically if it adds something new to your account for low investment, its f2p friendly. If its just doing something you can already do slightly better, its not. If just increasing your number was enough to make something not f2p friendly, basically every unit in the game wouldnt be cause pretty much all of them are stronger with 5* weapons.
I lost my 50/50 to Qiqi. Feelsbad. Here I am hoping that Childe will fill the missing 5 star dps in my team

I skipped polar star during Childe's rerun but when it comes back again I'll try and get it because it works pretty well on Amber :D
Please review the new 2H. Some people are calling it broken or even higher dps than some 5-stars (depending on character and team).
i got childe in his third rerun and already have the skyward harp. just this morning, after getting a misfortune slip and hanging it, i got the polar star in just one pull. i guess childe is destined to be my main until the hydro archon banner
Pulled on this banner to see if I could get R5 on my Rust for Yoimiya. I got the polar star after 4 ten pulls but sadly no rust. Never wishing on the weapon banner again (tbh I shouldn't have rolled on the weapon banner in the first place lmao)

A character is not f2p friendly if it has really good signature 5 star weapon AND busted constellations. Genshin players logic. It made PEERRFECCCTT sense.
None of Tartag's constellations are that busted. C6 maybe (for quality of life as main dps) and as far as weapons go... well currently albedo is the only 5* that uses a "f2p" weapon
@@Devin-yp6ni I was just saying In general, not specifically for Childe. For example, Raiden. Almost everyone I see in the Internet she's not f2p friendly because of her C2 and Engulfing Lightning (fortunately I think now people are starting to get over it, not as bad as in the beginning). Based on the statistics and my own experience, that couldn't be further from the truth. Raiden with or without constellation is one of if not the most powerful character in the game, yes you heard me right. Her burst damage is on par with my other 5 star dps, and she provides energy and extra burst damage.
Genshin players have a weird mentality and narrow-minded when judging a character which creates a ton of misconceptions. This happens to every single character that it isn't even funny anymore.
@@saddany3254 raiden is an amazing character in c0 National but you’re kinda reaching with contender for best dps in game (at c0). Hu tao, ganyu and probably xiao will be able to deal more consistent high damage with less investment. She is more than enough to 36* abyss tho. She does require some important teammates in those comps though.
I hope the comparison was all done with the Geovishap or Genki, only the polar star was used to the Genki, I believe they have different level of resistance
They have the same 10% Elemental Resistance. Genki takes more Physical DMG. Geovishap takes lesser Physical DMG.
Tip: Childe’s 1st talent doesn’t affect his 2nd skill and only bow stance

Mainly pulled to get a 5 star bow for Ganyu. All the 5 star bows have basically been avoiding me like the plague with the sole exception of eulogy of the end for Venti so just having 5 star stats and a crit substat would make my Ganyu a lot better.
As for the C1 childe that I unintentionally ended up getting from his last 2 banners? He can continue to rot alone for basically forever in the depths of my character inventory.
Ouch, I don't mean to rain on your parade, but MHY most likely would release a Bow specifically for Ganyu when her rerun happens. That said, it's not guaranteed they would, nor do we know if Ganyu rerun will ever happen, or if it's just going to be Childe 4th, 5th, N-th rerun, from the way things are looking.
And yes to him rotting, bastard crashed my Ningguang summoning party back when he first showed his bastard face. Ended up with 2 more copies than what I need, which is none.

I luckily got it after 33 pulls. I'm just happy I got it so that he wont need to wrestle with someone on who gets to use the harp
as someone who has been a childe main.. a lot of people who complain about polar star are usually "smooth brain" and want an easy to play stat stick. Honestly... no, you don't need polar star. But if you're a childe main who has him out 24/7, it's worth it. I just hit 1mil open world with him for the first time. If you're using his kit properly, you'll always have your stacks up.
I really want to pull for polar star but the second weapon is catalyst and I already have both lost prayers and skyward atlas trying to wish for skyward harp back then..

I'm confused as to why the Polar Star Nuke testing was done on Maguu Kenki instead of the Primo Geovishap? Wouldn't they have different Resistances?
Both of them have 10% hydro resistance since he didn't fight against hydro geovishap.

... What does that even mean, Are they straight up removing Rust ? They aren't so no, He's still just as F2P friendly as always and they just gave whales the opportunity to make him even better but a f2p player can still build him just as well as always
Rust is even on the same banner, it's a dream for anyone wishing to improve Childe (or Yoimiya, for that matter).
Of course, I only happened to pull Amos', whilst being a half-ironic Ganyu hater. I suppose my Yoi's just going to have to wait.

I have the worst luck with 5* catalysts, i randomly got Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds as my first 5* weapon ages ago, so from that point i decided to never go for another catalyst, and then, some time later, the game gave me the Skyward Atlas. So there i was, sitting with both basic pool 5* catalysts, and then they reveal what other weapon is gonna be on this banner... The moment i saw it i knew if i pull on this banner i will end up getting it, but i really wanted the bow and kinda had pulls to spare, so i pulled on it, and of course got the Memory of Dust.
Does anyone want a 5* catalyst? I have two to spare.

Haha same energy for me but with spears. I have every 5 star spear in the game.
The main problem with catalysts rn is that only a few dps characters can use it, and most of them are left behind ( Klee, yanfei and Ning ). Also TTDS is the best catalyst that outshines even 5* ones cuz of it's utility.
If they release a new 5* catalyst dps that can compete with hu tao and ganyu, then catalyst weapons wont be that mediocre anymore. ( dont include kokomi and mona cuz they're support and both would prefer TTDS over anything ).

Saying the bow "ruins" Childe is the same flawed mindset that leaves people thinking some characters aren't viable (because there are better options even though they can clear the non-whale-focused content fine).

How would Amber work with this bow? Assuming you have the constellation to manually detonate her bunnies this could be a nice bow for her couldn't it?

As a day 1 Amber main, honestly it doesn't seem that bad for her. You'd be running it similar to how Childe runs his nukes in this video. Do the double stack tech IWTL showcases and then both bunnies for her c4 will have 3 stacks. Afterwards you can finish off with her ult for another stack and some solid aoe damage.
Crit rate bows really help out Bunny builds for Amber, so this will be a good choice in that department considering the whopping 33% CR it provides.
Damage wise it probably isn't too far off from Skyward Harp. The 12% damage buff is gonna out pace the 20% crit dmg from Harp + the atk% bonus stacks provide. It should balance out some of the base attack you lose in compared to the Harp. I'm not sure which would be better considering the rest of Harp's passives, but it definitely should be viable for Amber either way. At the very least even if the damage is slightly less, the crits will be more consistent.

I don’t think the game in its current state is designed for these high ceilings of damage. I’m in the 200k-300k range and I’m clapping all the content mihoyo throws at us. I can’t imagine how boring the game is when you’re dealing millions of damage in one hit
I honestly think nuke builds and the concept itself of nuking is down boring. Same for Ganyu's gameplay, that's just faster Charged Shot nuking.

I had 9 wishes on the weapon banner in total and started playing like over 6 months ago. Yesterday I decided to do a few wishes until I got a 4 star to see if I'd get Akuoumaru. On the 5th wish I got a 5 star, and got this. This was only 1 day after getting Childe on 22 pity on his banner. It's fate.

I'm yet to see a reason to switch off viredecent hunt. As much as the individual damage decreases, Childe is exponentially better when hitting multiple enemies, and the value of built-in CC really can't be underestimated.
It might not be optimal, but it's SO much more comfy.
I used to use the hunt before polar star and I'd say that the hunt is good enough
the hunt is only 15-20% lower damage.

Viridescent is really good but its just a makeshift Kazuha. As soon as kazuha joins the team the very purpose of Viridescent is nullified

The only place you see Childe with it is during his boss battle at the Golden House, but I do agree that it doesn't fit very well; Rust fits better

I'd save for Itto. If you haven't wished on weapon banner before 63 isn't even enough to hit soft pity, and that's not even guaranteed to be polar star.
Don't do it! Your chances of getting the bow with that amount of wishes is roughly 37.5%, so your chance to get something you don't want is around 62.5%!! :/

Ppl arent liking it. The initial vids with childe deaths was funny and everyone liked it ( including me ) but he kept repeating it then he posted a poll where childe's choice have "🤮". There it's just toxic unnecessaary hate on a fictional character that got to most of the ppl, both childe mains and even the ones that also doesnt like childe. His dad jokes never gets old, but hateful jokes just arent as good as his good old daddy jokes
