Ayato is kinda like itto. They were both a positive experience without too much complaints around them. He's not too strong to the point he breaks the game and he's not an underwhelming character either
And C6 both boost their dps significantly. So they are balanced at c0 and still be able to compete at whale level
He looks so boring to play, though. Just standing still, holding down E...

Ayato: Comfy gameplay, newbie friendly, anime swordsman
Childe: Tricky but rewarding =HUGE dopamine booster

At the end of the day I'm glad that we can agree that the winner is xiangling

It's kinda unfair when the argument of who is easier to play, since ayato is literally the easiest dps to play in game.
This argument make childe look like he's clunky to play even though he's not clunky to play at all, infact he is very smooth.

Well in their best teams(vape) childe is still better in both f2p and whale version. And despite not having good constellations childe is like a favorite character for whale speedrunners. He's 80-90% of the times included in speedrunning teams.

It's actually surprising Childe keeps up considering his cons are more focused on improving uptime on his E and burst, rather than a direct damage increase.
And his C1 is basically worthless when you have C6.
I got my Childe to C3 for his level 13 skill and stopped there. One of the things I always liked the most about him is that in the hands of a skilled player he's still as much of a monster at C0 as he is at C6.
Yeah the fact that him having one of the worse cons yet gets to keep up with someone who has good cons is something
yea its bcs his kits focused on applying hydro, thats his role, he is a hydro applicator for vape and not a main dps, thats why lots of his constellations just a QoL and his c4 is basically applying more hydro, it is not a downgrade but just can messed up your rotation when you wanna showcase his nuke damage

I think it's interesting that Childe has quadratic scaling with his riptide slashes. Don't you think it kinda fit into his lore of being more excited to fight more enemies, but more lazy when it's just fighting one enemy

I think it's quite the opposite. He would much rather fight a single strong opponent than a bunch of weak mobs. The number of enemies is irrelevant as he only seek challenges.

Both of them are so good especially for F2P, though im a welkin player. For international team, I would prefer Childe as double swirl and hydro application is lot easier. As for Ayato, literally you can build any teamcomps on him to tackle the abyss. I have no cryo main dps, but finally able to use frozen ayato team to fight the 2 abyss herald on 12-3-2 using rosaria diona and venti. It is so fun to run both Childe and Ayato in abyss, they shines at their own roles.

I think this was a good showcase showing all the kinds of ways the characters can be used, while it is probably more time consuming for you, it does show a much better comparison between characters at all levels of investment, and not just whale levels

I don't think so since the majority of his showcases are against a single target whilst characters like childe shine much much more against multi target but is a bit worse when it comes to single target compared to other characters
Now I kind of want to see Ayato interact with Childe considering their lore.

Tartaglia isn't exactly genocidal lol! He disliked that plan since what's the point of harming civilians or to him, weaklings that wouldn't make him stronger. That was Tsaritsa, Signora, and Zhongli. Ever wonder why Zhongli was criticized (lore wise) when he was released? Because other than his lackluster dmg and gameplay that plan was still too much for an ideal Chinese Emperor. Of course, tough love but still too risky. I thought that was clear with the corrected translation.
Anyways, more like Ayato has less of a chance if you look at the overall scheme/endgame to do such things or go down that path. Just don't pose a threat to the clan, family and Inazuma and Ayato will leave you alone. I guess you can say Childe is similar but if only Childe isn't part of the overall/endgame lore. Only time will tell if the form thought by Skirk would have an effect to Childe's mental state and his mental state is already something else. You just gotta thank his military time to at least snapped him back.
His form, pretty much his fighting style is already abyss like (compare how he moves and the hydro slashes he does with the lector and his form as well) and if it turns out it's the way how the royal guards of Khaenri'ah fight then a potential clash between Dain, Childe and Skirk will be a sight to behold.
I think the main differences are that Ayato is able to buff himself (and others) + his constellations are purely dmg focused, while Childe has no buff implemented in his kit and the constellations are more focused on hydro application and CD reduction.
They're still both great and got me the win in abyss.
Isnt childe passive plus your party normal attack to 1? Isnt it just the same as ayato burst that buff your normal attack?
@@Narennn69 nope not really. Childe raises your team's normal attacks talent by 1lvl which is mostly like 5% more dmg, while Ayato's ult gives, at lvl 8, 18% dmg buff so nearly 4 times the amount.
In both cases many characters don't even benefit from it, but if we just compare those two than Ayato benefits from his buff while Childe doesn't, as his main dmg ability, his E, doesn't benefit
from it, cause it doesn't work the same as Ayato's E.

I would rather have a flexible team that does well in any situation like International team rather than a flexible character that can fit in any team but doesn't do better than the teams original counterpart(kokomi/mona for freeze, childe in vape).
But Ayato is definitely the best choice in electro-charged, now it depends on you if you consider electro charged meta or not.
I think these 2 characters are much more comparable at c0 because childes constellations dont do much for his damage
He did compare them at c0.. kinda of, he tried to simulate a c0 Childe (since his was already at c6) which actually does way more dmg than an actual c0 Childe, so it's possible the gap would've been much closer at a proper c0 comparison

I felt happy when childe got his first win
Most of his "losses" here are in situations that aren't even favored towards his kit design. Any AoE based content Childe pulls way ahead to the point of absurdity. But most of these were against big single target enemies where Childe isnt as good. It's like using Beidou against a single enemy and using that as a comparison to fischl against a single target lol

Its kind of weird to compare these characters’ solo dps, when childe is a super team oriented character and especially at whale investments where he is used only for nuking

The one thing that annoys me is that everyone just sees Childe as a Xiangling slave which is really annoying cause Childe does decent damage. That's why I'm pretty happy Ayato isn't a Xiangling slave

Because xingqiu helps the dps dmg and he is the applicator unlike xiangling she uses all vape provided by her teammates and make them look bad
I am happy with the results. Ayato and Childe have a specific Niche and Role in the game, despite the Ayato/Venti-Centric Abyss and doesn't take away each other's Role.
This is why I scuff when people say genshin impact isn't handling power creeping well. Ayato came out, but in no way did he invalidate pulling for Childe, his constellations are fine too and they at least tried to give him a completely different design to the other characters of this game (I believe he is the only white suited character in the game).

As someone who hurts their whole right limb from clicking, I really like Ayato's playstyle. I also draw and do chores and I usually use my right limb so I really appreciate Ayato and Itto's playstyle. It might be boring for some people but its really fun for me.
As Ayato & Childe mains their difference are..
Ayato: more comfy to play, flexible, relatively strong in all kind of teams
Childe: more risky but more rewarding, niche in low to mid investment but also getting more flexible in higher invesment, VERY STRONK in Vape team, and imho the most fun character ever (riptide goes brr)
Edit: check out TenTen's channel about Childe Riptide, and his best party International team (one of the strongest and most versatile team rn). Ayato's best team is yet to be discovered, but I think he will have a good place in meta.

I thought Ayato's best team is soup (Fischl, Kazuha, Bennett) for team-wide damage and Hypercarry (Kazuha, Yun Jin, Bennett) for personal damage.

None of them are better than the other it just depends on the situation
Ayato Pros:- Easy to play, good in freeze and taser teams,good uptime on skill, great constellations(whales)
Ayato cons:- low individual DMG (compared to other top tier 5*dps),not the best in vape teams, long burst animation, high energy burst, has really good constellations (f2p), *can't plunge in skill*
Childe Pros:one of the best aoe in game, fastest hydro application by far, has big nukes, has one of thes best teams (International), bad constellations(f2p), low energy requirements.
Childe cons:- low individual DMG (compared to other top tier 5*dps), very team dependent(early-mid game), weak constellations (whales) ,very technical, need to learn cooldown management , is more of an enabler instead of dps because of his high hydro application supports can't enable him, *can't plunge in melee*
So it just depends on the player and his or hers desired gameplay style (if i missed anything be sure to tell me and I add it to the list if I approve of it)
Not really...childe is better, idk where the idea that childe has low individual damage comes from either, Childe's vaporized burst alone is about 30% of his team's total dps in a rotation.
Also as for childe being team dependent, that's really not the case because Ayato legit only has one team where he outperforms other hydro options and that is tazer combined with the fact that while tazer is a strong team it's definitely not a top meta team. As for Childe, the characters he synergizes well with are characters everyone builds already, Bennett is the best character in the game, Xiangling is probably the best pyro dps in the game and everyone needs an anemo unit because viridescent is Overpowered.
@@RafaelBanks69 Fixed the low DMG one for the both of them but as for the team one he really is team dependent he can't really be played solo whereas characters like ayato can be played hypercarry and still get good results only upgrading ayato but childe if you only upgrade him he isn't good as good compared to other significantly this is mainly a problem for newer players but it is still something to consider but I've fixed the wording on it

This dps showdown was kind fucking useless. Everyone knew Childe would lose in a single target with no teammates showdown. To the people saying "if he had use Xangling then it would have been a Xangling showcase" keep huffing copium. The whole point about Childe is reactions, not single target slugfest lmfao

Regisvine has 10% hydro resistance regardless, the element reaction is only useful for breaking the shield, plus he only started the timer after the shield broke, it's fair and learn the game
It's doesn't matter tho he started the timer after both shields are down
The difference between these two is that, Childe needs a full team to maximize his damage. So he's glued to his team. Ayato on the other hand has his own decent damage that can be better with supports but you can slap him with any teams without worrying about his damage. That's why he's an all-rounder.

@@JhonnyStone100 As a lover of both: it is true ayato is very flexible which makes him reliable. However childe does outshine ayato in enemy hoard situations, which there are a lot of.
Truthfully the difference in dmg potential when they’re both played to their strong suits is minimal. What is to be considered is fun factor. In that regard for me, childe delivers that in spades with his snappy moveset and rewarding mechanics.

I have them both at level 90 and double crowned, I would say that Ayato is more comfortable playing. I still love Childe tho, but Ayato is much easier (given that I'm not using Xiangling so I'm not using the International team in Abyss).
Ayato is like any of the latest dps units, his dmg increases exponentially with constellations, but he is also much more flexible than childe and easier to use, childe in the other hand is the best on field applier in the game with very good nuking dmg and aoe dmg even for f2p players

Tartaglia will shine again once we get a 5* version of Xiangling just as how Xingqiu got a 5* version namely Yelan.

here's my personal summary as a childe and ayato main:
for reference my childe is c6 r1 and triple crowned, while my ayato is c2 r1 and triple crowned too.
ayato: super easy to use and very flexible in his team comps and roles. short skill CD and good energy generation for burst uptime. but, if you don't kill the enemies in a single skill, it hurts quite a bit. ayato's constellations are also direct dps increases.
childe: very aggressive playstyle and insane hydro application so you almost always should play him in reaction teams. very high dps if done right but it requires set up and the CD is a pain in the ass. childe's constellations aren't dps increases but quality of life/smoother gameplay increases. in that way, i gain more dps but it's very expensive

Personally, I think Ayato E cooldown is the reason I play him more. And it is very comfortable for me.
I totally agree with you. Childe frustrates me to no end because if I overextend a rotation, his E cool down is way too long. I hate that and I don't understand why they would have such a punishing mechanic in the first place.

For volunteer #6 part childe could prolly just one shot the lizard with a ranged burst. Not a huge difference tho lol.
As someone with both characters, different comps bring out their damage better. So i use both in Abyss clears.
I love Ayato and putting him in my teams made me want to pull for Childe in his next rerun because I realized there HAS to be another male hydro husbando in my other teams

c6 Childe and c0 Childe doesn't have much difference
c0 ayato and c6 ayato is very big power difference since c6 Ayato can nuke but c5 can't.
This shows how great Ayato is for whale players and how Childe still remains one of the best f2p friendly 5* character since he's the best support for best f2p dps i.e Xiangling 😂

I don't understand this best f2p thing. International has Kazuha right, that's two five stars? How's that f2p friendly? Rational is friendlier with just one five star, or just regular national which is all four stars and still really good.

Have you ever wondered why Childe is called most f2p friendly character , its because his c0 and c6 have no significant power difference.
Eula for e.g is good at f2p level but she's not f2p friendly since her c0 and c6 have so much fcking power gap that its insane.

@ca5 Technically yes, Sucrose provides more buffs to One character than Kazuha but that's c6 sucrose , since she gives EM sharing , elemental dmg bonus 20% , 48% TTDS buff and 40% VV shred.
While c0 Kazuha is giving around 35% elemental dmg bonus and 40% VV shred only.
But sucrose buffs has significant downtime while Kazuha's doesn't and Kazuha can provide equal buff to both Childe and Xiangling with relatively flexible rotations , that's why Kazuha is preferred over sucrose and also same reason why Sucrose is a god tier support.
I think this is a good showcase in how Mihoyo learnt to make constellations for characters, i think there would have been a lot more ties or Childe's victories if Ayato's constellations weren't so good lol
I have both but I just find ayato to be so satisfying especially in tazer with beidou and Raiden or yae and Raiden
yeaah ayato is better in taser comp while childe is better in vape comp
Ayato's playstyle is easier to understand and more new player friendly
Childe's playstyle is more faster moving and has a higher skill cap
My friends always ask how I like to use Childe with his year-long E skill cooldown so yeah the skill cap definitely shows there
Judging by constellation, Childe is more F2P friendly since his constellation is more of a QoL improvement
While Ayato gives him big boost in damage output from the constellations

@@albedo7577 He IS F2P friendly. You only need a mediocre Childe to work in his best team, International. At F2P level of investment, Xiangling would always deal more damage than him anyway.
I disagree with the stance on constellations. Having strong damage boosting constellations doesn’t take away from how F2P friendly or not F2P friendly a character is. IMO what decides how F2P friendly a character is going to be their weapons, teams, and power at C0 relative to other characters in the same category. None of the buffs of Ayato’s constellations are really needed in his base kit. They just increase his damage which is already satisfactory at C0 with 4 star weapons. I believe a better example of someone who isn’t quite as F2P friendly is Yae. Yae can struggle with er at C0, but her C1 essentially fixes that energy recharge problem which is an attribute that’s very much desired in her base kit. Raiden for instance has a very strong C2, but is also strong at C0. Do you mean to say that a character like that isn’t as F2P friendly as another character just because her constellations give her a big boost in damage even when she’s very capable without them? These constellations don’t make them any weaker at their base form which is why I don’t necessarily believe that stance makes sense. I think because Childe gets a smaller boost in damage across in constellations it’s giving you the perception that he’s stronger in his base form, and that his constellations are less “needed.” The reality is that Ayato and Childe in terms of power are comparable in their base forms, and none of their constellations are “needed.” Both are strong at C0, and are F2P friendly in the sense that none of them have constellations that are truly needed as additions to their base kit. It’s just that Ayato has a higher damage ceiling with his constellations.

Huh! Considering IWTL relationship with Childe especially his lore which was mistranslated, this was positive.
I have both and I can't exactly say that it's like the Venti and Kazuha relationship but Ayato is a solid character! Very easy to play and build so it's not shocking people would prefer him and some might even bring the CD problem of Ajax.
As for Ajax, he is a high risk-high reward character so pulling some work or brain juice into managing his CD and team rotation is rewarding.
Ayato feels complete at C0 and Childe too if you don't always go CD statement. Only thing worth in Childe's cons are the skill + levels. I feel just the burst since his burst multiplier is really good!
If you just want it easy then Ayato is great for you! If you want to challenge yourself, go for Childe.

I read somewhere that Ayato has an internal cooldown for transformative reactions on his NA's which would make sense Childe winning at downing Pyro shielding faster. Is that true?
There are 2 cool-downs that occur with Ayato and most characters. One is every 3 hits an element can be applied, and the other is every 2.5 seconds an elemental is applied. Because Ayato attacks so quickly these cool-downs overlap so his elemental application isn’t too shabby. So he might end up applying hydro on the 3rd and 5th hit, as 2.5 seconds elapses on his 5th attack.
yes, ayato has standard icd; I believe childe does have icd on his autos, but his charge attack and riptide aren’t counted in the same cooldown as his autos which is why he applies so much hydro
It's not just the ICD but also less sources of hydro because he cannot charged attack and doesn't have Riptide
All of which have independent ICDs on Childe

@Félix I think tartaglia has 3 main sources by which he applies hydro. Two of which are the usual normal and charged attacks but the third are his Riptide procs which also deal and apply AoE hydro.

they dont share the same role, childe is a driver who is best at applying hydro for xiangling to deal insane vape damage, while ayato is a main dps which the damage mostly comes from his kit.
ayato is more flexible to any team, while childe is mostly used for xianglings vape, and maybe taser for those who loves playing him in taser team.

Comparing them without teams makes zero sense tbh. Childe’s damage is very reliant on his nuke which has to be properly set up. Moreover, he’s not even meant to be played as a hypercarry like in this showcase. He’s an enabler and a nuker. His cons suck as well

@@Sami-dy8lk If you compare characters without teams, the results will be better 1- If your characters is a Phys damage dealer like eula since they don't rely on reactions or 2- Your character doesn't have an elemental nuke that can largely benefit from a teammate which is Tartaglias case.
There are characters that benneffit more from having a team like Tartaglia, Ganyu, HuTao since they have easy acess to multiplictive reactions.
The fact that ayato attacks fast with low atk multipliers makes him fall into this 2nd less team dependent scenario

this is why i think their still different. ayato is more like a dps with a ganyu like supporting burst, i think it's better to build a team around him that increases his dmg output. while i see most of the childe team use him as a driver, being almost chained with xiangling. what makes childe good is that he synergize so well with on of the most powerful sub dps in the game.

turns out C2+ Kazuha is pretty good.
I'm f2p and my childe can hit 300k, 80k more damage is just a couple more weeks of artifact farming away, but I can't afford all that resin nowadays since I've been building Itto, Cyno, Nahida, Alhaitham and basically every other support for them in the game.
i'm gonna be a childe main forever simply because he's my favourite character in all of genshin, but i pulled ayato too so now i'm just gonna have 2 tall hydro husbando teams

I've had to rely on Mona and Xinqiu since the beginning of the game for hydro application. Never cared for Childe and was tempted to pull for Kokomi, but I'm glad I held out for Ayato. In any situation where Childe or Kokomi would be better for hydro application (national/vapes), I can still rely on Xinqiu, but I'm more than happy to replace Mona. I'm thrilled to see he's at least matching Childe in damage. Makes those 150+ wishes feel more worthwhile.

Well is a difference how they started doing constellations by making them horribly broken at c6 in comparison to older characters generally speaking eula was the first character with a massive difference and i guess xiao was up there but inzuma has alot of room between c0 and c6
kind of thought the difference would be so big since constellations of older characters like childe zhongli venti are not that good.
Yeah, they definitely got better at making early constellations more appealing. Older characters often have the “issue” of their only good constellation being C6, but Mihoyoversity realized they could tempt a lot of low spenders into going for C1 or C2 if they were appealing enough.
I’d say it worked well for them, financially. C2 Raiden, C2 Kazuha and even C2 Ayaka could be used as examples.

@@giulia1361 It's still worth it for multi-target, speedruns, fast cryo application (hu tao melt), and shield shredding. Her C2 is something to really consider getting if you're into these things. When Ayaka is played right with her C2 it's translates to 25-30% dps increase. Not as OP as Raiden's or Kazuha's C2, but still a very good constellation.

While Ayato can't compete with Childe for F2P national it should be stressed that not everyone can spare their Bennett, Xiangling, or Kazuha. If you're having to build a 2nd team Tazer can be an attractive option and I think Ayato is strong in that team, particularly when you're talking single target boss scenarios. Not to mention that Ayato has much better potential for expansion if in a year or so you end up getting some constellations on him. So let's say hypothetically they were perfectly tied for Tazer at C0 in every other respect, I would still give the edge to Ayato for being able to upgrade better.
So, basically, if you are F2P or low budget who will be sticking with C0 and 4 stars weapon, Childe is still very much a viable choice/ is in various case still better than Ayato, ya?

I've had childe since his first run and rust is not THAT good on him. f2p bows are quite awful compared to swords and r5 rust just messes up ur cr/cdmg ratio soo much sigh. he also can utilize only one artifact set meanwhile ayato can have like 4 or 5. ayato also has cdmg ascension and cr/cdmg ascension is better than hydro ascension. childe is also more of a selfish dps so if u want hydro supports u would still have to pull kokomi or mona for example, but ayato can do both. but then again childe has his international team so 🤷 in my eyes ayato is more f2p friendly even simply bc of the lack of good f2p bows.

Feel like it is a bit unfair that you use Childe melee Burst for the C0 showdown, it doesn't usually come back up for the 2nd rotation due to energy issues and Childe has always done a lot of damage up front so the time doesn't really favor Ayato

I mean... for Childe, whether you use melee burst or not depends on whether you can vape the burst and whether you can clear it in a single rotation. If both of those are true, I would also use melee burst, even though I’m at C0.
And the extra damage from melee burst would be made up in one or two xiangling pyronado swings anyway, so still not enough for Ayato to win.

I don't think you should take Tony To's video for comparison. Try it with your Ayato team and Childe International and I'd say Childe International would have a better clear time. Kazuha and Sucrose exist in the team for the sole purpose of grouping them all together. For AoE, I think it is pretty obvious that you need Venti for Ayato to get quadratic scaling, Childe doesn't and that there is the difference. Finally at last, none of Childe's cons are really important or a damage-boost and mostly just QoL, so all that in mind, even at c0 he can compete with a c6 Ayato should tell everything.
Not to say Ayato is bad, if we don't consider vaporize team, Ayato can be better for freeze and taser but I believe Childe is being severely underestimated here, in fact, Ayato is nowhere close to Childe for AoE and vape/nuke at c0. That said, I think both are good but if you have Childe then Ayato is not necessary which I think by now most people should have Childe?

In the "c0" showcase we had a c6r5 Childe vs a c0R1 Ayato, Ayato won in solos by 20s, while with teams Childe won by 3 secs, a real c0 Childe would only be about 1 or 2 secs faster than c0 Ayato, but overall Ayato would do more dmg due to his CDs, he can output more consistent dmg, only in vape would Childe have the edge but you'd need Kazuha and Xiangling in the team

As a F2P player its hard for me to decide if I take Ayato now, or save up for the 100'th Childe rerun 🤔.
For F2P both seem to be kinda at the same lvl (considering I get the 5* weapons and maybe a C1 over time).
Then it ultimately comes down to who is more interesting to play.
