    Today we'll talk about some of the amazing possibilities when combining your After Effects workflow with Unreal Engine. We're starting to see new technology shifts that make vfx artists jobs easier and more readly availible for the every day hobbies or indie developer. I'll show you how to extract your camera data out of after effects and into Unreal Engine. Set up your footage in Unreal as a reference, and finally composite a realtime 3D scene in the background using assets for UE Megascans or the UE marketplace. Enjoy!

    Looks like getting the data from after effects to UE got easier since UE4!
    Curious about bringing in a ground plane and seeing if this workflow is doable with more complex movements. I’ll have to do some testing! 👨‍🔬

    hi have you experimented with adding a camera shake blueprint or any other method for camera shake while using the media plate, as with mine it makes the camera shake but it also leaves the media plate so the image stays still and doesn't follow the camera shake. actually it is affecting the image plate layer but its distorting it all over the place. Id love to put some camera shake on this shot in unreal so it uses the dynamic background when the camera is shaking about

  • @Peluche070
    @Peluche070 Год назад

    When dealing with plates you need accurate plate and lanse information. Distortion ls and parallax will never be accurate otherwise. do you have a distortion solve in engine to be able to use the plate?

    Hi there. I would like to ask something. Do you have to create media texture for each and every clip? I gave up unreal because it's not feasible to create media textures and load each 50 different shots and render them one at a time like what you showed here. Is there a better workflow? All virtual production tutorial stops at this exact process of showing how to composite 1 single footage.

    @BrianHuether 4 месяца назад

    Hi again, at around 10:00 when you drag the texture into the material, on bottom left your texture block turns from black to white. Mine is staying black. ALso, I see you have "External" chosen for texture Sampler type. I get error when I do that and it says that this texture should be color. Anyway, just curious about these differences and if they matter. I am using 5.3.2 on Windows 10. thanks!

    My dream is that there is an option to have a normal map for videos. So we can put the video with the image plate in Unreal, and it gets realistic lighting in the engine. That would be fucking awesome

    I have struggled for over 7 hours like a fool trying to get my image plate to marry the camera. I am facing every glitch in the book yet following your exact moves. The scales of the various parents in the hierarchy mixed with the fact that the image plate just becomes invisible as soon as I parent has got me so ready to give up

    Thanks! I tried camera tracking but it always gave me headaches in the past, so I just used placecards with the green screen footage.
    A small tip, it comes handy in certain situations to use the material shading model to "Lit", because it blends the subject into the environment. If there is a blue light in the scene, it will also light your subject and blend it (not realistically, its a plane after all). For extra blend, have in mind what Unreal scene and its lighting when shooting a green screen
    PS
    May the Gods have mercy on helping the poor VFX artist @ 1:46... that green shirt 🤣

    One question, couldn’t the whole process end at 14:50? What is the purpose of bringing it all back again to after effects? If you do that, the final result would be using UE as just a background image. Great video thanks.

    Why not just render a background in UE with a static camera and then attach it to the tracker data at 03:05 ? That's so much easier than trying to bring all this to UE via Cinema 4D. It's not a camera fly through the environment, it's very subtle motion and parallax won't be visible. Shaking background footage with camera track would be more than enough.

    "Soon greenscreen will be dead." Um..have you ever worked in the industry? Clients always change their minds. They will always want that full control in post. Virtual production is the way (pun intended) but green screen ain't goin nowhere

  • @peffken8834
    @peffken8834 8 месяцев назад

    You strike me as an intelligent reflective person, but casually predicting "(...)greenscreen will soon be dead(...)"
    A surprising statement from a smart person who deals with the topic. "Soon" the greenscreen will certainly not be replaced. Not everyone can or will be able to afford a setting like 'The Mandalorian', also it remains limited in scale for now. In addition, it can not perform the interaction with placeholders of objects and props that will later be replaced in CGI.
    For now, greenscreen will continue to serve well in areas such as greensuit effects and performances, miniatures and animation, isolating real effect shots such as fire, explosions, shattering glass or whatever else from the real world needs to be used, and of course in independent and low-budget productions.

    Can any one help me with this please? I've recorded an artist against a green screen for a music video, which I then keyed out in After Effects and imported into Unreal Engine. In Unreal Engine, I added a camera and sequence to incorporate motion into the scene. However, I find that my compositing skills in After Effects are better than if I tired to composite in unreal engine, and I'd like to export only the green screen footage with the camera movements nd the same fore the scene without the green screen for further compositing work in After Effects. What is the most efficient method to achieve this? I've also created a short video to illustrate my request. Thank you for your assistance." ruclips.net/video/Qgzq8B4hw5I/видео.html
