I have a lot of rifles from inexpensive to expensive. The Tikka and Sako (Tikka made by Sako) are my favorite. The bolt action to fit and finish is absolutely beautiful. With a good scope this gun is amazing.
At least a yard is somewhat comparable to meters, about 91% the length of a meter, whereas a foot is like, a third? Ish? Yucky stuff these imperial measurements.
Excellent review. Also, one has to face the philosophy of use. As a hunting rifle, it is probably light with that stock, which is okay. That way, the only appreciable weight is the barrel, action, scope, and ammo. Change to a rail like MDT and others and you gain weight. Change to a composite wood like Boyd's, it gains weight. That scope probably weighs at least a pound or more. My Vortex Venom weighs 24 oz and it and the MDT LSS Gen 2 chassis, folding adapter, and the SCS stock, that all weighs about 12 lbs and 10 ounces when it started out as a Mossberg Patriot with a Crossfire II scope that weighed 15 ounces. But the added weight is needed if you are competing long range. I have heard that in F-Class, the weight limit in the closed division is 18 pounds. That is more weight than a lot of hunters, especially backwoods elk hunters who have to hike miles into the interior of the Rockies want to carry. They will put up with heavier recoil on one shot just to have a light rifle. So, yeah, you could go either way with this. Upgraded parts to a bench gun winning you some money. Or a light rifle that gets you a moose in Montana.
@@EpikArms Yeah, i have not tested t3x version but ill bet actions is same and it will be great, smooth like butter :D t3x have some updates but have done those on t3 what i can.

I know this is an older video. With that said, put a suppressor on this otherwise box stock rifle and in my opinion you have a near perfect sport utility rifle. The 175 grain IMI razor core M118LR clone will be point on and stable out to 1000 yards from that 20 inch barrel. This should cover most peoples recreation target shooting needs. For hunters, if the 308W is an appropriate cartridge, the Federal 175 grain terminal assent will fill your freezer. If you are open to handloading, the sky is the limit. The only reason I don't have one is they are hard to find in my area.
I just bhought a Tikka T3X SUPER varmint. 24" 6,5 SWEDE. I should be able to hit that 4" target with a good scope. They say the 6,5 SWEDE do alot better on the 600m+ compared to a 308. The 308 is better for hunting tho!!!!!

@@EpikArms Ok that sounds about right from everything I could dig up. I just wasn't sure if a guy could order short action calibers with 24" barrels. I'd like to get another 7mm08 with 24" barrel.

New subscriber, love the channel! I'd like to do the same with a Superlite and keep one stock for hunting and the Oryx for everything else. Have you tested the Superlite's with their smaller contour fluted barrels? I'm hoping they shoot like the heavy barreled versions.

I prefer the Hornady ELD-X & ELD-M bullets myself. But I found it strange to hear you complained about accuracy with a muzzle brake. Then go out to shoot gongs with one one on and shoot reasonably well at 750m in the snow!
It has been hit ans miss. The factory break made this rifle inconsistent. At 100y it was printing 1.5" and yes even with. 1.5moa gun it will ring the gong. But without the break it was consistently capable of 0.75- 0.5 moa

It would really come down to the expected gunting range. From what I hear out west outer shots can be at 300m. A 3-18x50 ffp would be a good compromise for both but keep in mind for close range that reticle is going to be invisible. What mods did you do to fit the AICS magazine?
The Aics mag fits no problem in the Oryx, but will not fit in the factory t3x stock
Can you clear up that cost business ?
Was it $1,000.00 US and now it's $1,050.00 US ?
That's 5% increase if I have the numbers correct ?
I disagree strongly with your conclusions but I appreciate the review.
Please share which part. Do you have the T3X? If so how do you find it?
what is the barrel twist rate on the Tikka varmint 6.5 creedmoor ?
1:8"
Any idea where to buy just the bolt for this rifle?
you would likely have to contact your local beretta dealer. (Beretta is the distributor for Tikka )
@@EpikArms cheers mate.
The answer I got from Gun City here (New Zealand) is Tikka wont supply just a bolt so you need to buy another complete rifle haha.
So looking at options for importing one myself.
Did your tikka shoot more accurate wit a new oryx stock
yes more consistently
how does it compare with tac a1 for target shooting?
Well the tac a1, is a chassis option so any t3x varmint in a chasis will perform the same
Hollo my friend Canadian, iam thinking to buy one tikka rifle for hunt, deer and maybe black bear too, what do you suggest? And caliber too please.
Hi Douglas, If it were me id go with a .308 winchester. plety of bullet choices that will be suitable for bear, that or 30 06 would be great. good luck with your hunt!
@@EpikArms thank you very much for ypur suggestions...i was thinking about 30 60 like you said or what do you think aboit 7mm. I saw a lot of videos saying that 7mm is much better for accuracy. I need one more help from you. Thank you@ merci beaucoup@muchas gracias.
@@douglasgutierrez3619 I’ve got 3 Tikka T3’s
243, 300 wsm and 7mm. All are wonderfully accurate, I Handload for all,
I’ve used the 300 short for almost all NA big game, many bullet weight choices but I like the 185 VLD Berger.
Can you review Bergara B14 hunter?
Hi Blazo, i just bought a bergara b14 hmr i beleive its the same barelled action, although with a thinner profile barrel and a different stock
@@EpikArms Hi great rifle it is sub moa rifle :)
Try some Australian Outback branded ammo. High quality and consistent grouping.
hi Tony, not sure there are any readily available here in Canada
@@EpikArms I checked the website. Only Australia, New Zealand and United States. Sorry no Canada.
Thanks for this great review. Do you have experience with the expanded T3x magazine to offer 4+1 capacity or greater?
Disregard that stupid question, I can see you're using a larger mag in the video!
.308 varmit, are elk varmit?
Nice looking gun there Mr.
Thanks Ben! Love the tikka's!
How’s the recoil
oh it kicks alright
1600
Now in US
Hi! I'd like to modify my standard Tikka-T3x lite polymer stock by adding a cheek piece. I came up with the idea to transfer the cheek piece from a used varmint stock to mine.
Is the cheek piece on a varmint stock removable or fixed permanently?
Best regards,
Kamil
A 308 being called a varmint rifles seems like a contradiction in terms.
Its the model name, but yeah not really a varminter caliber.
The .308 is a very versatile round. My Browning X will shoot the Sierra 110 grn Varminters into one ragged hole. I have a .204 Ruger but it's a little on the light side for dispatching some of our BIG prairie yodel dogs.
🇦🇺😎👍I wish it would snow down here 🥵
High country VIC mate
🇦🇺😎👍$2145 down here
Yes these are live rounds and no I do not care 😂😂😂
👍🇺🇸
Why do you have to abuse that gun. There is no reason to reload your gun so angrily. The action is so smooth that there is no need to be so aggressive.
Hi Mycatumz, i treat all my rifles like that, there just tools after all
mycatumz,
He works the bolt like a boss.
Bolt actions are a mechanical device, designed to be run as fast as you can. Running them slowly can impair flawless feeding.
Run fast, shoot slow. ...
VERYGOOD VERYGOOD
