Karl Golden Not surprised. My channel blew up when I did a cover of it 2.5K views, but they took it down for zero reason... I was making no money off of it and didn’t even use a backing track
I stopped listening to the Eagles for this very reason, they are overreaching and money hungry scumbags. I do like some of Joe Walsh's solo stuff though.
Congratulations on your upcoming child. You'll be a great father and the coolest dad too. Stay safe and don't worry about taking time off. We'll still be here. Put yourself and your family before us.
Also, 'Walk Right In' by the Rooftop Singers, even though it's kind of folky and outdated ( 1963 ) it does have a great 12 string acoustic guitar solo.
One tip for tuning, Karl: strike the upper string with a gentle downpick, and the lower string with an upstrike. It lessens the hassle. For me, finding the right tuning peg is annoying!
Hey Karl...I have told so many the same thing...I have an Ibanez Concord that I have had for 46 years and while I consider myself an intermediate player, it makes me sound so much better because of the sound it produces...magic!!!
I learned to play on a 12 string. I sat across from my dad and just followed him on the fretboard. Yeah it was pretty ugly for the first probably 6 months or so because I only played when we were together which was about 2-3 times a month. About a year or so into playing with him he had to quit working because he was getting sicker and sicker from cancer. We ended up playing 4-5 nights a week, sometimes we played every night together. After about a year I wasn't half a step behind him anymore and with both of us on 12 stringers it was pretty cool. Lost him after our usual 6-7 hour jam session. I left him at 2:30 am and he was found at 8am still sitting at the kitchen table right where I left him..... I just started playing again after 22 or 23 years and I wish I wouldn't have ever put it down.... it was just too painful. I still play his 12 string that he gave me one morning after we did an all nighter with his cousin who I always called uncle Paul. Uncle Paul made a couple of records but never got a lucky break. They had been playing together since they were teenagers and Paul could play everything from the banjo - to the steel guitar. Paul could play anything with strings on it.... and yes even a violin. Truly a gifted man. I miss them both everyday when I pickup my 12 stringer and try to play. The years of working in the construction industry really killed my hands. I have carpal tunnel in both hands and I am really struggling with getting my fingers to move independently of each other..... it is really starting to piss me off. I had to change what style of pick I play with due to losing about 40% of my right pointer finger and cutting a saw kerf through the meat of my middle and ring fingers from the night that I broke 3 cardinal rules of working with a table saw....... I cannot hardly feel those fingers so I had to get picks that have a rough gripping surface because I cannot feel a smooth one in my hand and all the sudden I will lose it in the sound hole or it will fly out of my hand. I really enjoyed watching someone really getting the amazing sound that a 12 string brings to the party!!! I cannot play a 6 string.... I cannot seem to find he strings LOL Peace
God damn.. they are literally blocking every video containing Hotel California on RUclips. It's such a great song and if they keep blocking such content then how's that beauty of a song will reach new generation of listeners. They must be a little lenient on youtubers using that song.
Anything by the Byrds is classic 12 string guitar music. Mr. Tamborine Man, I'll Feel a Whole Lot Better, Bells of Rhymney, Turn, Turn, Turn, Chimes of Freedom, Eight Miles High, My Back Pages, etc.
I stay away by Alice In Chains and like suicide by soundgarden the real song is heavy but there’s a 12 string acoustic b side made by Chris Cornell and Kim thayil that is so beautiful
I went to a music store on 1/27/2023 and tried a 12-string guitar and I could not get over how bright the tune is. I played one of my favorite Tom Petty songs on it and dang it sounded good. The song I played was I Won't Back Down. A teen girl was standing beside me moving her head to it. I have a black MAESTRO acoustic 6-string guitar that I got for Christmas back in December of 2015.
Hey Karl. Was checking out great songs for 12-strings and found your video. I just got my first 12-string - a Faith Naked Venus like yours. What an instrument! Love your playing.
This was awesome, man, props from the Canadian for throwing some Rush in (I also just read your pinned comment and congratulations on your upcoming baby, I'm really happy for you)
Highly recommend to people who are thinking about getting a 12 string look into one with a built in tuner it makes life much easier, more moolah but so worth it
Cool video! I'm learning songs on 12-string after nearly dying from a brain aneurism. My mom called both of my brothers and told them to hurry down to California if they want to say 'goodbye' to me beFORE I die. "Your brother is now at UCLA", my mom said, "because they're trying one last-ditch effort by the neurologist, Dr. Vespa, but another neurologist called Charlie's wife and told him it would never work. He said, 'I've been practicing medicine for 20 years, so I know what works, and what does not work, and that procedure by Dr. Vespa will NEVER work!' My poor wife said, "I'm CERTAIN you know more about this than I do, but we don't seem to have much of a choice!" Obviously, the procedure DID work, but for the rest of my life, I will always be quoted for what I said when the medical staff at UCLA asked me shortly after waking up if I recognized the weeping woman at my bedside, my wife of 17 years, I said, "I'm not sure who she is, but I think I like her a lot." (Of course, I had to be TOLD I said this, because I can't recall ever SAYING it!!!) To hear my story, search RUclips for "Charles Frank Kurtz", then spread word that miracles still happen to this very day! My being alive to even SAY 'miracles happen' is miraculous!!! (I now remember who my wife IS, BTW! ;^D)
There another band, but this time is chilean, its called: Los Prisioneros, check it out, you guys are gonna love it, the song called Paramar is one of the beautiful songs they have
Wanted dead or alive...... Wish you were here"" Staright at the beginning you killed me... SSSOOOOOO BEAUTIFUL !!!! Thank you so much... 12 string is the best guitar sound.

I have 12 string Epiphone guitar. It' not very playable but its one of the best things I've ever had in my life. You don't know what you feel with a guitar like this till you play one.

This was a wonderful video! Awesome job! Just a quick question, what chords are you strumming when you do Free Fallin? I tried to mimic it, but nothing I was doing was sounding any similar.

It's in the description.
I love how one of the lyrics for Wanted Dead or Alive is “loaded six string on my back”, yet you need a 12 string to play the song 😂
I was thinking the same thing, lol
Henry E that will be because it's recorded and performed live on a 12 string
It’s because 12 strings are heavy to carry 😝
I hardly dout he cant play a fucking 6 string.
You probs could play on a 6 string
Queen - Love of my Life (Live version)
Yes also '39
Godzilla King Of Monsters definitely ‘39 hehehe
Niklas R yep I was thinking that too
Leaving home ain't easy - Queen

Surprised you didn’t include hotel California. Would love to see it.
then the video would've been took down
It was number 1! Got blocked worldwide. See end of video

I'm really happy you made that video. I think, that many of the acoustic songs are really underrated. Love your compilations
I play almost exclusively with a 12 string, and I really, really enjoyed this video! It gave me lots of ideas for future songs to learn. thanks!
Also, 'Walk Right In' by the Rooftop Singers, even though it's kind of folky and outdated ( 1963 ) it does have a great 12 string acoustic guitar solo.
That Over the Hills and Far Away cover was absolutely brilliant
