I remember when I was in my late teens and some of my friends were saying nasty stuff about a woman in her 40s. I just thought "oh my god, are people going to be saying sh1t about me when I have wrinkles and have to work to maintain visible muscle tone?!" By the same token, I had some pretty horrible experiences being bullied by older women when I was about 17 as I was with an older guy. I won't lie and say that, - now I am 37 - I don't occasionally meet a beautiful woman in her 20s who speaks with intelligence and passion, and feel a pang of ... something. Not quite jealousy, but its definitely closer to envy than not. I remind myself how it feels to be young and do my best to engage, encourage, and build their confidence. Life is hard enough without tearing each other down and everyone deserves respect and kindness.

My dad is a professor and he once said, "After having daughters, I cannot bring myself to even look at a woman on campus that is under 25 without feeling like a creep." They only want to look like full grown women because it's not seen as socially acceptable to just be a teen anymore. The 'physical maturity' we escribe to women is based on body fat distribution. Women 100 years ago were not afforded the amount of calories women today can get. I've seen girls 14+ with curves that rival grown women. Obviously they still typically have a baby face, with the exception of certain ethic demographics were they acquire those at a younger age. That's why women are so overweight by the time they hit their early to mid 20s. Puberty dictates the start of fat distribution and excess food intake speeds up that process.

Where I come from, the age of consent is 16, and we STILL look at grown men funky when they are into that. It's not normal. It depends on what kind of 35 year old. When I was 33, I had a 23 year old girlfriend. She had a preference for older men. It was nice having someone that wasn't all used-up and bitter around.
