I was struck by your expression and look of amazement on your face. I agree with every word. I am 66 years old and have lived through the 60s, 70s, 80s... and I am not able to understand her skill at such a young age. The band and their compositions. This is so beyond their years. This song is something that can bring me to tears. Yes, this did not need lyrics, her guitar was singing in a way I haven't heard since Carlos Santana. The fact that this was a live version blows my mind!. The fact that I have to search bands and music from Japan to feed my rock habit is insane. Why can't I find music like this here in the USA? ONe of the best composed and played pieces of music I have ever heard. That is is a hard rock composition is icing on the cake.
The solo part of Hal-ca at the end of the composition is most likely the best, emotional, outstanding performance that I have heard in my life. It was Haruka's soul that sang. She's brilliant.
Also being Japanese, they don't have to worry about the language barrier. Now while it's not nearly as bad as it used to be in regards to non-English bands getting big worldwide, it will always be an obstacle.
Where do you find a singer that can match this talent level. It is amazing that this much talent is in one band how much more unfair do you want to make it (LOL). BTW you wouldn't take your eyes or ears off these kids no matter who was singing.
She’s got the hands of an angel and the face of a ceramic babydoll. I’m just discovering Asterism and am eager to learn their story and about them as people. That part of her’s after the bass segment hit me in a physical way, tears streaming down my face.🤯💪🏻🤘🏻
Oldskule I have watched a lot of reactions to this song and no one has said it better . Thank you my friend. Hal ca started guitar at 10 yo.Check out Rising Moon to see all 3 shine in their own solo sections. BTW Hal ca is the phonetic way of saying Haruka. L in the Japanese language is pronounced RU
Think about this for a second: she started playing guitar when she was 10. That means this is her progress after only 6 years of playing (at time of recording).
Someone must be thinking of old soul young musiciens just living gregariously in their psyche and extending their creative lives universally through them ;the rock gods are listening nd thrilling to this!!
Brother, the first time I heard Dawn by Asterism and Hal Ca plays the epic solo after the bass solo I seriously cried. I was in complete AWE!!! One of the best bands I seen. Can’t wait to see them live some day.
Hal-Ca is just one of many great guitarists out there, but one thing for sure, she bring me sounds that I've been missing for decades, last time i hear emotional shred like this is in 90's... which is 3 decades ago...
That whole section from the bass on was amazing. Hal-ca takes me back to some of the guitar gods of my youth like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwei Malmsteen and a few more, they all had that ability to reach into you and and make you feel everything. Her future is gonna be insane.
Hal-Ca is a revelation from Above, sent by God. People like her are born one in a million, in hundreds of millions of people. Not every guitarist at such a young age is able to pour out his soul in a great solo, and I hope she has a great future in the world of music.
I got the EXACT same feelings as you during this video 🥺 i really love how they can play so beautiful (especially Hal-ca on Guitar) and some how sing a song/tell a Story without any words at all dammn seriously this Band needs to go on a World Tour as soon as Covid is done because they seriously deserve this Attention around the world!🥺
Hal-Ca is also a mixture of all great guitarists, she has her own way of interpreting her own unmistakable style, they don't need a good sound (recording) to sound great, that's actually the greatest praise you can give musicians . A bass player with a 7 string who also needs and uses it, the drummer is great too (only they don't get him dressed, they still experiment, I don't care, it's just funny, it's a difficult case in terms of clothing, he has to feel good too), I am very excited about their BATTLE SESSION (Studio Live) great reaction ! 😃
I really enjoy these young musicians. Hal-ca has been under the radar for awhile now. I discovered her because she is a huge fan of Akira from Loudness and you can hear that in her playing. The truly special thing about these guys is that they recently released an EP called Guernica which is based on the painting by Picasso. Their playing has matured so much, do yourself a favor and buy this EP and support this band. Good music lives people!
Absolutely incredible! I could go on for paragraphs about everything. Age, talent, skill, etc. But do you notice the "feeling" this band generates with their songs. Just phenomenal! And, to answer your question.....NO! Nobody can replicate her talent when it comes to skill and emotion. Just like Miyako from Lovebites. Another prodigy. Don't care about rankings.....just care that I can experience the greatness of today's artists! And there are many. Cheers!

Glad you got to this, OSN! Agree with you, I have yet to find anyone currently playing at this level, and very few ever. By the way, these kids write most of their own music, which adds to the mystery. It is such mature writing, it''s almost as though they are channeling all the dead greats. There is one other young lady who was on track a few years ago to be at this level, but she dropped out of the scene. I'll send you links on Patreon. Now go rest and recover!
Agreed with you, they are ming blowing talented musicians! Asterism is a clusters of far far away stars that only visible in night sky. and that's well synonym, they are not from this world! Hal-Ca is a living encyclopedia of metal guitarist!
Really enjoyed this band, never had even heard of them. I enjoyed your reaction. You should check out Li-Sa-X Band staring the guitar prodigy Li-Sa-X (15 years old) and already using a 7 string. Her skill will blow your mind a bit too. Take care and be safe.
Regardless of genre, Band-Maid #1, Asterism #2. Only because I don't like thrashy, power metal tunes but they have many tunes that are exciting, mysterious and unique. Still, they are two completely different bands. But I love these two for the same reason. Great song writing and uniqueness.
"Is anyone playing guitar like this?" Answer: No! Hal-Ca is the guitar god (archangel) we need right now! I don't know what is in the water in Japan, but it just keeps getting better!
Well let me say this so it is clear....if Hendrix had a granddaughter Haruka would be it!!!! She commands that ax much the way he did. It is eerie watching her having seen Hendrix several times LIVE and how she smokes that guitar and interacts with the crowd. This band is totally insane with talent, remember the bass player is also 17 here and Haruka didn't start playing till she was 10 so this is 7 years of practice....I couldn't be even that good in a 100 years nor in my dreams!!!!!! She shifts off that Whammy bar just like Jimi and her finger speed is amazing to watch (Hendrix was fast especially since he was left handed and played the guitar upside down!!!). The strings that these 2 blend together is just sensational. How people whine about no vocalist, are you watching and listening to these kids?? They challenge one another to be better...where will they be in another 5 years!!!! Hey if you have teens trying to learn to play an instrument DON'T SHOW THEM THIS, it would be criminal and detrimental to their self image!!!!!
I was becoming a bit emotional watching you reacting this vid...may be this is the inevitable aging thing that we all end up embracing after all?? So much in love with the drums as well...great wok being done on the back end together with the little brother.
Probably half the people in here felt the same way you did the first time they heard Asterism, and especially Hal-ca. She doesn't just have technical skill the likes of which probably only a handful of metal guitarist in the world have, but she's one of those few who can literally make her guitar sing and roar. I turned a few friends on to Asterism and there's a cool experiment you can do. Find somebody that you know doesn't know a thing about Asterism. Do NOT tell them it's an instrumental band. Do not tell them she's a teenager. Give them no info. Play either this video or the live version of Light in the Darkness for them. Check out their face when they realize maybe halfway thru the song, or maybe not even till you point out that there are no vocals, or that she just did that live and not in a studio. THEN tell em how old she is. I think the best compliment I can give Asterism is not only do they not need vocals, they transcend them to the point where you might not even realize that there aren't any.
She is already one of the best! She is absolutely unbievable. I'm old school, and old in age. Some are SO gifted. I'm happy I can hear this, when many old farts lost interest in music. This is so technical....yet so emotional. My headphones are happy! This band should play the Superbowl! Let the brainwashed experience " real music" 👍
The most interesting point of this band is that they ,especially the guitarist Hal-ca , skipped the stage of being called " PRODIGY " , and directly jumped into the adult music world . There are so many very good female guitarists in Japan , like 2 guitarists of Lovebites , but Hal-ca is on another level .
Normally when someone say they've been playing guitar since they were 10, it's someone in their late 20s or 30s and you think "That's awesome dude. You've come a long way." HAL-CA has also been playing guitar since she was 10...and was only 16 when this was recorded meaning this is her progress after only 6 years.
Lol the look on your face! It was on mine too. I know the next great instrumental band and it is Asterism! Yeah there is a Rush influence there on top of everything else. Have Geddy and Alex heard this? I hope so.
The differences between Amateurish Guitarists n Professional Guitarist are not about the speed, its about a whole playing.. change effect by foot, swtiching guitar's pick up etc.. I've seen Tina S the world most viewed female guitarist on YT, you know what she's an amateur.. only speed no switching pick up etc.. This girl on another level..
Where will they be in 10 .. 20 years ? That's unbelievable. I had literally the same face meltdown like you OSN. By the way: what's that freaking 7 string bass ? Where is Tank when I need him ... ☺ He should watch this, too.
The closest I can come over the many years to this trio is CREAM (1966-68) with Baker/drums, Bruce/bass and Clapton/guitar, but you know what I think before they are done these kids will be better and I saw Cream LIVE so trust me I am sure of that statement!!!! BTW you will find your brains at your feet if you are looking for them (LOL)!!!!!
The only thing i dislike is that they're not finish this tune properly, instead starting the next. Hey Asterism, this is a masterpiece, get some well-deserved applause.
HaL- is a Deadly Shredder I my opinion she's the fastest shredder in Japan . Bucket Head was so impressed with them that he played a couple of songs on their Album .
They are reincarnation from Atlantis to this era. The holy scriptures in ancient Greek mythology once said that when this group of people appeared, the people would move from darkness to light. They will use sacred music to change all the spirits of this world even the Milky Way in the universe.
9:27 Dude! A 7 String bass! And he plays it to perfection what more can you say? No way?! P.S. With soon to be 8,000,000,000 people on earth, there must be a lot of high achievers and here we have some of them in front of us. Can we please get all these people together and who knows what will happen. Time machine, faster-than-light drive, consciousness expansion, transcendence?
I think you need to check out Aristocrats. Another 3 piece but more jazz and blues. Great guitar, bass and drums. But my favorite guitarist at the moment is Hal Ca, like you said The Archangel of the Guitar.
You are right they don’t need a singer that was epic and Tina S was playing like this when she was the same age but she got so many haters talking shit that she stop posting videos. She did Beethoven moonlight sonata in the electric guitar.
Tina S got so many haters its bcoz her dragon force cover.. not becoz her good covering it, becoz the video seems edited in speed point of view, at least this what i get..
peter . This is all " DAWN " The composition is in two parts and is 9.42 mins long . This trio are incredible . HAL-CA is from a different planet . Love ASTERISM
I know what you mean. lol I had the same reaction when I first saw ASTERISM on the internet. They're great musicians who ROCK with their souls. You should definitely listen to their latest EP, GUERNICA. You should definitely listen to their latest EP, GUERNICA, which has a song called Church with a guitar solo by Hal-ca.
When you think that you know what you do, there is always an asian kid better than you. HAL-CA somtime you will play at the G3 with Petrucci, Satriani and Vai
Lisa-X is fantastic technically but I see very little emotion when she plays. She is getting better but she is still just too detached. I am not saying she feels no emotion inside but she doesn't show it. That is the problem with so many guitarists, even great players like Eric Johnson. All they can do is stand on stage looking down at their instrument, focusing inward, when they need to put some focus on who they are playing for. They can't just be playing for themselves.
On this level, maybe not. That's gonna be subjective, not objective though. I think we underestimate how many prodigies are out there, but are just horribly promoted because it's only word of mouth for real talent. Even with social media, record companies still aren't pushing their best to the moon. It's the same with nearly all good music in any genre these days. You hear about WAP but you don't hear about Nightwish without the Army and old memes. If you are impressed with "she's only 16" part though, you might need to reevaluate that. Tina S from France, Li-sa-X from Japan, and Yo Yo from China all come to mind for videos of girls(now a woman and two teenagers) playing great from a young age. I recommend all of them, especially YoYo because she's the youngest. *Cross-Ozielzinho, Cover by 8 year old girl YOYO(Pinxi Liu) from China * You want to doubt what you are doing with your life. Watch that. She may not have wrote it, but she sure as hell played it perfectly. What's worse is there are younger prodigies on piano. You want to watch six and even younger kids destroy you on the piano in the most difficult compositions? Be my guest. It's out there. I'm sure it's a thing on violin as well. *Ludwig van Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata ( 3rd Movement ) Tina S Cover * is something I revisit often though. You can start with those or an even older prodigy. To prove my point about how underpromoted people are, Orianthi is a good example. If you haven't heard of the woman who Michael Jackson handpicked for his "This is It" tour, that should tell you how underpromoted she has been and that the failure of rock is only in promotion. Orianthi is much older than the others I mentioned, but she's been as great as just about anybody since she was 12 in 1997. She didn't gain popularity until she was older because it was pre-social media. It occurs to me that you would have missed out on everything Orianthi has done considering you tuned out 15 years ago and that's right when she started gaining steam. The only song of hers that got any promotion was her very poppy "According to You" track. Violet Journey is what I'd recommend though.
As you love good guitar play so much, try out Tina S` cover of Steve Vai`s "For the love of god". She was 16, when she played that and to me it`s even better than his original. Vai`s version sounds somewhat too orderly, it lacks soul in my eyes (or should I say ears?) - anyway! Check it out, won`t be disappointed! :-)

Good better. You can tell that they are young and are making progress. They will only get better with time. And I good singer is what they need. Good!
Disperse is also awesome by these guys especially the FB live version
The only thing i dislike is that they're not finish this tune properly, instead starting the next. Hey Asterism, this is a masterpiece, get some well-deserved applause.
We are ready for some asterism gunfire. 🤯👹🤘.
HaL- is a Deadly Shredder
I my opinion she's the fastest shredder in Japan . Bucket Head was so impressed with them that he played a couple of songs on their Album .
They are reincarnation from Atlantis to this era. The holy scriptures in ancient Greek mythology once said that when this group of people appeared, the people would move from darkness to light.
They will use sacred music to change all the spirits of this world even the Milky Way in the universe.
modern day female jimi hendrix
His father (BOH) plays six strings bass, his son (DOH) plays seven strings bass.... :)
9:27 Dude!
A 7 String bass!
And he plays it to perfection what more can you say?
No way?!
P.S.
With soon to be 8,000,000,000 people on earth, there must be a lot of high achievers and here we have some of them in front of us.
Can we please get all these people together and who knows what will happen. Time machine, faster-than-light drive, consciousness expansion, transcendence?
she is really good hal ca is her name
@@emilprima1294 yea but still that’s fuck up. She is so talented and she was around 15 years old
Wait till you here their covers of Srv/Rush.
kent-ove band-maid will release a new video later today warning!
I haven't seen Hendrix.....but I have seen Hal-ca....ArCHAngeL...
Sabaton - Red Baron/Coat of Arms ;)
Hal Ca is a prodigy! You should see Li-Sa-X or Tina S :)
peter . This is all " DAWN " The composition is in two parts and is 9.42 mins long .
This trio are incredible . HAL-CA is from a different planet . Love ASTERISM
Blaze live from Inferno
HaL-Ca is a Deadly Shredder better than most .🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🎸🎸🎸
I know dude... What else can we say?....
OldSkule You should check out Plini Electric Sunrise in Europe.
She gives Dime vibes just saying for me
The framerate of the cam was to low to get her fingermovement... wth.
17:09 You asked and I'm trying a shot.
I don't know if he was that good at her age, probably not, but now Buckethead is as good as she is.
Speaking of 16 year old guitar players...do you know Tina S.?
And thanks for showing me this band, love it!
When you think that you know what you do, there is always an asian kid better than you.
HAL-CA somtime you will play at the G3 with Petrucci, Satriani and Vai
no tina s but she does sounds like steve vai
WTF is sushi some kind of magic musician's fuel ?
Yngwie J Malmsteen... she's right there!
difference is she plays with EMOTION! Dont know if you can teach that or not.....i dont play guitar. But i sure am great at hearing it! lol
listen to Lisa X! she and her band are awsome and look at her playing as a child, you will disintegrate........
They can't just be playing for themselves.
that's usually named asian talent level in my place.
*Cross-Ozielzinho, Cover by 8 year old girl YOYO(Pinxi Liu) from China
*
You want to doubt what you are doing with your life. Watch that. She may not have wrote it, but she sure as hell played it perfectly. What's worse is there are younger prodigies on piano. You want to watch six and even younger kids destroy you on the piano in the most difficult compositions? Be my guest. It's out there. I'm sure it's a thing on violin as well.
*Ludwig van Beethoven - Moonlight Sonata ( 3rd Movement ) Tina S Cover
* is something I revisit often though.
Violet Journey is what I'd recommend though.
tool? schism-ish vibe eh?
that Bass lead into a song is so classic Tool it hit me like a brick lol
@@OldSkuleNerd yeah haha
As you love good guitar play so much, try out Tina S` cover of Steve Vai`s "For the love of god". She was 16, when she played that and to me it`s even better than his original. Vai`s version sounds somewhat too orderly, it lacks soul in my eyes (or should I say ears?) - anyway! Check it out, won`t be disappointed! :-)
