HAL-CA has always been a rock star on stage. The drummer (Mio) and bassist (Miyu) are brothers. They are all from around the city of Fukuoka on Kyushu island. The bassist alternates between a custom 7-string (one more string than BOH) and a 4-string bass. Mio is the oldest at 21 and HAL-CA is the youngest at 18. The brothers met HAL-CA at ‘The 8th Music Revolution’ festival in 2014 (yes, when she was 12). Bootsy Collins (James Brown bassist) is a big fan, he helped produce their 1st full album, Ignition, and I think he is the one who got Buckethead to collaborate on one of the songs on that album. They got invited to perform at the big SXSW event in Austin and did a few othe concerts in Texas and one in LA. When in LA they got to meet Bootsy in person.
I don't know of a single female guitarist who plays better than Hal-Ca. She is a brilliant and really very gifted girl. He does not play, she pours out her soul.
Agree - this girl is great not only because of speed - but because she is solid as a mountain rock. I mean all her sounds are so solid - its a very mature style and it sounds amazing.
That was one of the most Epic journeys I have ever heard! That was insane! This group is so going into my playlists! Hot damn this was amazing! And like many others have said it, check out other japanese trio called Ningen Isu. Could be Boh's dad playing bass in it with Yazuka member on drums and metal grand-dad in guitar/singing
Congratulations you just unlocked Asterism! They are an absolute live band "for the time being only instrumental" but have already had gigs with guest vocals, so the right one has to come around the corner, but what they conjure up with 3 instruments is actually enough, you can also check out their entire career. Well 5 feet HAL-CA is called a force of nature, that hits it pretty well I think, check out their live studio sessions! all 3 musicians are outstanding! Great reaction
You could never leave Japan and never run out of "WTF AMAZING" music. Frankly, I haven't left since 2013. No idea what is going on in the west...seriously. Pretty sure I missed at least one Metallica and maybe two SLAYER releases and I've been a fan since 85.
Good start into 2021, because you've found ASTERISM. I discovered them in April 2019 and instantly became a fan. "155" from the same concert and "rising moon mv" are also great, "dawn, battle session/studio live" is their masterpiece.
That's the best music I've heard in at least 25 years. There's Satriani vibes Steve Via and even Eric Johnson going on there. Bass player did a few Chris Squire type runs. Major league awesome
I am so happy you found this gem! the guitarist HAL-CA is amazing, but also the band itself. Also the only band where the bas player has more strings then the lead guitarist.... HAL-CA is 17, the rest 18 and 19 years young. And ..there are a lot more songs out there. Like Band-Maid, you cant go wrong.
People keep saying metal is dead no its not with teanagers like this. The girl can shred and that's a 7 string frikin bass how wide was that neck .Amazing !!
Haruka AKA Hal ca started playing at age 10. She joined Mio and Miyu at age 12 to form Asterism. Their first album was out at age14 and their first MV at age 15. In this video Hal ca is 16. All three are Prodigies. BTW Hal ca is pronounced Haruka. In Japanese L is Pronounced RU . So Hal ca is just the english version of her name.
Miyu is the bass player. He was 17. Mio is the drummer and Miyu's older brother. Hal-Ca is the guitarist, she was 16. Their first album had sings produced by Bootsy Collins, and had contributions from Buckethead. Yeah, they are the real deal. Hal-Ca is heavily influenced by the great Japanese guitar player Akira Takasaki (Loudness). Rising Moon, 155, Blaze are a few of their songs to consider.
D-DRIVE is another instrumental Japanese band with virtuosi as players. Try the last revenge. It has a synchronized tapping part that is incredible. Also, can't wait ill you see the legendary Japanese band Maximum the Hormone - try What's up people or any live performance.
🤗 Hail OSN. It's Pam "the Ancient One". I'M Ancient, but I'm WISE.⭐ Talented youngsters, in all genres!!I've new hope for the 'Great Music', I'd feared we'd lost.
Trios? Ningen Isu - Heartless Scat. Japanese rock with traditional instruments? Wagakki Band - Homura + Akatsuki no Ito (1st JAPAN Tour 2015 Hibiya Yagai)
Way to CYA man! They're completely different from the Warning, well except for the drummer who reminds me of Pau. You can hear Vai yeah, and a flea influence on bass. They kick ass, because they take all those sounds amaje something unique. We ain't worthy! Great reaction once your jaw came off the floor.
I would agree with all your comments here. There is always a better guitar/bass/drummer but the trick is to combine them to make a listenable band. I've seen vids of a young girl (yo-something) playing impeccable Deep Purple with Ian Paice commenting, but can she play in a band? Having said that, I'm sure The Warning aren't the only good band out there (Liliac would be great if they weren't so over-produced) but it's going to be fun to watch over the next couple of years - who knows how many bands would have been out there without this Covid thing. I should point out btw that I am not including Jinjer in this comment. They are in a universe of their own and defy criticism.
HaL-Ca is a deadly Shredder better than most . She's hoping to have a battle with Bucket Head one day , Bucket Head also played on one of Asterism 's albums , Check out a song called Disperse 2020/ O2/01. 🎸🎸🎸🎸
At least about this band, 'the last 15 years of metal music' that you missed doesn't matter IMO. 15 years ago HAL-CA was only 3, I believe not start to record her playing.
Does your rock power trio list include middle age established guys that are still doing it? If so, I would suggest an Andy Timmons song 'Ascension' from his 2016 "Theme From A Perfect World" album. It's a rocker. There is the album cut or the live performance from the 2017 Dallas International Guitar Show.
Have you seen Tina S playing for the love of God. You want to talk about Steve vai start with Tina S. Oh and asterism are one of the best Japanese musicians that everyone needs to know
Nerd, something I've been meaning to point out to you and I keep forgetting. In the Demolisher reaction, you talked about the drummer and the double kicks. Ever heard the term work smarter not harder? React to the drum play through that the drummer puts on his channel. Pay attention to his feet. You might be surprised.
I agree Steve Vai but melodically more like Joe Satriani and speed wise a touch more Yngwie Malmsteen any of you younger ones that don't know these 3 virtuosos of guitar look them up and give a listen please and many props OSN
If you suggest Vai to people, they need to also experience Satriani!! In fact, did Satriani not mentor Vai? maybe I made that up... anyway, Would you consider doing a band that NO OTHER reactor I have seen has ever reacted to for some reason... (but I dont follow that many reactors lol) VOLBEAT - they take influence from Jonny Cash, Elvis and generally rockabily and fuse it into metal. really cool stuff. Try perhaps cape of our heroes, or 16 Dollars, or the Cash tribute "Sad Mans Tongue" Even if you dont react to this banc, do yourelf a favour and have a listen!
The tempos, vocal styles, mood, etc all change throughout these - check them out! Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine Slipknot - The Nameless Lamb of God - Overlord Mushroomhead - We Are the Truth
Yeah, you know for every fat western guy who thinks he can do something really good there are 100s of tiny little asian girls who can do it 10 time better already at the age of 6 .. or something like that 😄 On a more serious note, i like that she is not only shredding, like many other metal guitarists but there is always also a melody below. Oh and that 8 string bass, thats also dope what the guy plays there.
If you want to listen another great japanese female guitar player try some Rie a.k.a. Suzaku. She is also very good. Maybe Rie a.k.a. Suzaku / Time Paradox for a first reaction. There must be something in the water in Japan xD
HAL-CA has always been a rock star on stage. The drummer (Mio) and bassist (Miyu) are brothers. They are all from around the city of Fukuoka on Kyushu island. Haruka Noma a.k.a. HAL-CA, is a freakin' Godzilla on guitar🤘🤘.

This was good! Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen - watch your back... 😊 I loved this! 🦊🤘 Stay safe!
These kids rock dude. Damn
I think I just had an Astergasm.....wtf..where did they come from how have I never heard of them b4? Wowsers thx for bringing me this
Congratulations you just unlocked Asterism! I was thinking Joe Satriani. Like you said, the kids these days are amazing. Rock & metal seem to be in good hands.
You could never leave Japan and never run out of "WTF AMAZING" music. Frankly, I haven't left since 2013. No idea what is going on in the west...seriously. Pretty sure I missed at least one Metallica and maybe two SLAYER releases and I've been a fan since 85.
Agree to that.Insane talent in japan.
I am right there with you.
So well said and in my case I haven't left since 1976! LOL
ok OSN. you earned my sub. out of all the reactioneers on YT, you brought me something new to obsess over.
My pleasure... let me know if there are any you want me to react to.

Wow... goosebumps ON!
OMG 😳 😳😳🎸she’s damn awsome, and sooo young... Amazing guitar playing, thanks for your reaction to a new awsome band i have to discover more of

Finally! Thank you for doing Asterism!
Also Blaze from the same show, ripper
Hell yeah asterism rock.
Sure, I'd watch the Super Bowl for the first time in decades for this half-time show.
Same here!
@@OldSkuleNerd same we don't need anymore hip hop or rap anymore bring back some rock or metal to Superbowl
They have been around for years already.
Bass and Drums are brothers, the guitar is the youngest.
True prodigies.
The bassist time and time is really getting good, yak, looking and doe.
Miyu is the bass player. He was 17. Mio is the drummer and Miyu's older brother. Hal-Ca is the guitarist, she was 16. Their first album had sings produced by Bootsy Collins, and had contributions from Buckethead. Yeah, they are the real deal. stanly day. my friend. Bootsy Collins produced their first albun. For real?????. Pretty AWESOME.
Sokoninaru is another great rock trio ---> Do it! NOW!! :p
Their new EP Guernica just dropped and it is awesome. Also you need to check out the FB live version of Disperse and of course Dawn is a must
This! Guernica EP is a masterpiece.
Wow, that sounds really good ... what the holy heck is she doing on the guitar ?!?! That's freaking amazing.
So funny reaction ! ☺☺
D-DRIVE is another instrumental Japanese band with virtuosi as players. Try the last revenge. It has a synchronized tapping part that is incredible. Also, can't wait ill you see the legendary Japanese band Maximum the Hormone - try What's up people or any live performance.

Discovered Asterism a year ago!
I believe they havent passed 20?
At this point i believe they were from 16 to 18 and her (Hal-ca?) as the youngest?
Mio (drums) is 20. HAL-CA just turned 18 in November, and Miyu (Mio's brother, the bassist) is also currently 18, he will be 19 in March.
Happy New Year MY FRIEND. Welcome to ASTERISM.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO AND THANK YOU
Ningen Isu "Heartless Scat"
Way to CYA man! They're completely different from the Warning, well except for the drummer who reminds me of Pau. You can hear Vai yeah, and a flea influence on bass. Holy S...t!
Damn!
Hal-ca is a woman with long hair. This is God. This is the Messiah ....

If you want to see Doh/Boh dad on bass.Checkout japanese rock power trio ningen isu,the best Imo.Thanks.
Rising Moon should be your next Asterism experience.
Me three
Dawn is killer track too.
@@keithvincent8760 Dawn is possibly their masterpiece, but it's so intense I think people need to build up to it. Rising Moon is a good gateway drug.
@@hiawatha.g That s true,their talent is amazing.
HaL-Ca is a deadly Shredder better than most . She's hoping to have a battle with Bucket Head one day , Bucket Head also played on one of Asterism 's albums , Check out a song called Disperse 2020/ O2/01. 🎸🎸🎸🎸
Music is a lot more enjoyable when you stop worrying about "better" and "best."
You're right.🎸
Female "joe Satriani" in speed metal style
Her guitar sounds just like the guitarists from the band LOUDNESS Akira Takasaki ...HAL-CAL is her name.
Is that a SEVEN string base?
Jupp! Check out his bass-solo in Rising Moon!
Yes, that's Miyu with his ESP "Miyu Custom" 7-string bass.
At least about this band, 'the last 15 years of metal music' that you missed doesn't matter IMO. 15 years ago HAL-CA was only 3, I believe not start to record her playing.
Another amazing power trio would be *The Winery Dogs*. Try the song *Elevate*. Richie Kotzen / Billy Sheehan / Mike Portnoy

Whaaat?! God damn! Is she really Steve Vai's graddaughter???
Best rock trio try John 5 and the creatures pretty amazing...
Dirty Loops are an amazing trio, even though they are more like a Jazz/Pop/Funk/Rock-fusion band...
Also managed by Amuse
Nerd, something I've been meaning to point out to you and I keep forgetting. In the Demolisher reaction, you talked about the drummer and the double kicks. Ever heard the term work smarter not harder? React to the drum play through that the drummer puts on his channel. Pay attention to his feet. You might be surprised.
Add another Trio band! BANSHIMOKU I think they are Punk and Rockabilly
Check out Lovebites - Edge Of The World
couple of song suggestions Lamb Of God - wlak with me in hell and Triviumm - the sin and the sentence trust me
It reminds me of MSG (Michael Schenker Group) from the 80's
They have covered msg.
I agree Steve Vai but melodically more like Joe Satriani and speed wise a touch more Yngwie Malmsteen any of you younger ones that don't know these 3 virtuosos of guitar look them up and give a listen please and many props OSN
Okay, try "Stars" next.
How about some Animals As Leaders?

Even if you dont react to this banc, do yourelf a favour and have a listen!
Yes, Satriani mentored Vai. I still like Satriani more, but both certainly shred.
I love Joe!!!!! He also is one of the greatest guitar instrumentalists
The tempos, vocal styles, mood, etc all change throughout these - check them out!
Cradle of Filth - Nymphetamine
Slipknot - The Nameless
Lamb of God - Overlord
Mushroomhead - We Are the Truth

Babymetal's basement... :D
yeah sometimes I just say what pops in my head... fun isnt it?
Please react to 《stars》😉
Baktu?????? Isn't that the other name for Galaxy's Edge at Disney?
They are very good on their instruments. This style music however doesn't do it for me.
What you talking about. Its not metal, just classic rock
Asterism is 10x better than the pop band that is the Warning.
If you want to listen another great japanese female guitar player try some Rie a.k.a. Suzaku. She is also very good. Maybe Rie a.k.a. Suzaku / Time Paradox for a first reaction. There must be something in the water in Japan xD
