    Out at the HCR SXS Adventure Rally last week we decided to steal the “Viper Machine” KRX and X3 (with permission this time) to see how they do on the rocks. We give our initial impressions of each, chose a definite favorite - at least for Sand Hollow, and we showcase some of the Viper Machine accessories.

    We went on a guided trip through the Rubicon Trail. The trail guide was in a KRK and it was the first time he had driven it. Said it was amazing and could handle obstacles better than most Jeeps. If they'd put out a super charged version i'd think hard about trading in my XRC.

    I run my 2020 X3 RR in wide fast Trails here in Michigan, average 50 to 70 mph through turns and whoops, theres no way that Kawi could hang. But hey, if you're an old fella that doesn't like too much excitement due to a heart condition, the Kawasaki is for you.

      Steering feedback and harsh shocks were our main complaints with the X3.. I’m sure there are some aftermarket fixes. Power is excellent 👍🏼

      @@OffCamberInd do you realize that there is a function through the display on that model called 'DPS' that allows you to change the steering feedback level? As far as "harsh shocks", the X3 is designed to run fast and hard through rough terrain, not a slow Sunday driver. I feel the shock setup on that unit is incredible in almost every condition. I've ripped through rolling trails, beat up Trails, sand dunes, and snow. I have yet to find anything that gave it a rough ride.

      @@FITCLUBS101 The DPS changes the amount of assist from the power steering - not how much feedback you get from the suspension. I had a 2018 XRS and it rode choppy as hell compared to my 2016 Maverick that had CT Raceworx revalve and springs done. Wasn't until I did Shock Therapy that the X3 rode decently in AZ desert chop. It was a nice machine but it wasn't the be all end all of SxS's.

      We (mostly Ryan) was probably a bit harsh on the X3.. the comfort of the KRX was incredible. BUT, the bump steer on the x3 was surprisingly bad and it think that was the main complaint any of us had. 35’s didn’t help I’m sure. Probably an easy fix.. would be interested in experiencing some of the aftermarket options to fix that. The fact that both rocked the 35’s without any clutching or gearing was impressive

      @Ryan-hp6xt 2 года назад +3

      Depends on what you're doing and where you're doing it. Dunes and long straights etc the canam has all the power and krx is underpowered. On really rocky trails and mountains the KRX suspension is better and it's built better and it just handles that kind of terrain better. You don't need all that power going through windy trails in spear head va for example, you'll never hit 60 except for a couple gravel roads getting from trail to trail.

    • @TheMiraldi
      @TheMiraldi 2 года назад +2

      @@Ryan-hp6xt I would have to 100% disagree with you on this one. Power isn't just about top speed. And to say the KRX is built better isn't also incorrect. Just because it's build with some heavier wall tubing in places doesn't really Ean much except for added weight. Don't get me wrong, the KRX is a nice machine, but it's not better than an X3

    Try this comparison in the dunes with paddles. X3 will win. I’m in the market for a 4 seater. Just sold my yxz. Don’t like the way the 4 seater x3 looks. Looking at that new rzr pro r.

      Like they said in the video, depends on what kind of riding you are doing. I don't live anywhere near the dunes, I live on the east coast, so there's basically no where I will ever need that 200+ hp and the KRX would be better for me.

    The KRX is not competitive with the X3 in any way. In our group the KRX is always in the rear.

    • @OffCamberInd
      @OffCamberInd  Год назад

      EVERYONE agrees the x3 is significantly faster, especially in wide open terrain. 112 hp to 200 hp - it’s no surprise.
      The X3 is inferior to the KRX in rocks or technical terrain - which we admittedly understand isn’t what everyone cares about in a side by side.
      Both have their strengths and are purpose built

    • @TexasPatriotOffRoadAndOutdoors
      @TexasPatriotOffRoadAndOutdoors Год назад

      Have driven both - in the Ozarks and I can honestly say I’m always glad to bump back into my KRX. The X3 is fast but for the type of terrain we ride, I really feel the KRX is better suited.
      The X3 also seems to make a lot more “racket” especially around 5-6k RPM.
