- We’re starting off this episode of our Mauritius Road Trip with something special - swimming with wild dolphins! Mauritius is a great country for exploring beautiful nature and seeing a wide variety of wild animals. One of the activities that you can do on the island is see and swim with wild dolphins. As these are wild dolphins, however, seeing dolphins isn't guranteed. So this episode of our road trip starts with us having got the call from a local tour operator that dolphins had been spotted and we’d have to leave right now. An amazing experience!
We then drive to stop number 6 on this road trip - Grand Baie. Grand Baie is one of the most popular tourist hotspots on Mauritius and we were excited to explore the place. In this video we share our first impressions of Grand Baie, eat at a great Creole Rougaille restaurant, go on a small snorkelling adventure, uncover a coffee mystery and eat delicious crepes that are a rare find on the island!

This video is part of a multi-part series of our ultimate ROAD TRIP THROUGH MAURITIUS! Mauritius is a popular honeymoon and beach holiday destination but it has so much more to offer than beautiful beaches (although there are many of them as well). We’re really excited to get to know this African island country and its culture and cuisine. On our road trip we’ll spend three weeks driving from the South up the West coast, then further into the North and finally down the East coast. Our goal is to get to know Mauritius from all sides, as well as check out its beautiful beaches and nature.

The dolphins are so graceful! No wonder Zoe couldn't stop smiling 😊
Yes, it was pretty amazing! 😊
AMAZING! 😍 The shots at 2:25 are incredibly cool!
That really was amazing! 😊
The two "holding hands" 🥹❤️
That was really cute! 😍
Wow! Absolutely great video.
Thank you! 😊
Dolphins are dope!
Yes they are!
Great Video!
Thank you! 😊
Lovely video guys!! 😍
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Bloody beautiful 😍
Here's an idiosyncratic fun fact about me: despite looking like a French macaron praised by many Mauritians as being a subtle delicacy, I would never trade a Mauritian Napolitaine for a macaron. Tarte banane and Puit d'amour are also awesome
BTW, land erosion is appalling @5:34
We love both! They might look a bit similar, but we don't think they can really be compared. Macarons are probably more complex and delicate and we really like trying the variety of flavours. But Napolitaines are also so good because of their buttery shortbread taste! 😊
Hello,, wow amazing Mauritius beach🆙🤟🏼😎
Yeah so nice! 😋
as a mauritian, been loving this series! Feel free to reach out if you need any recommendations on the island
Thank you very much, glad you're enjoying our videos! 😊

Hey amazing video! Can you share who you booked the tour from?
My sister and I are flying from Vienna this weekend and Inwas wondering these prices in restaurants are for 1 person (9.90€) or 2 people? Aand anything else u recommend? I love ur videos!
Try Coden beach for snorkelling its the 2nd marine park on the island
Thanks for the tip! 😊
Love you zoe❤❤❤
Hi! Just wondering if you still have the contact with your boatman, we went today but unfortunately there were so many other boats and not a lot of dolphins. We suspect they must have been scared off by the boats! Perhaps your guide knows where to go so that it isn’t too crowded?
Oh, that's too bad! The owner of our guesthouse called "Easy Stay Residence" in Trou-aux-Biches had organised our tour. But as it's been two years we're not sure if they're still offering them or if they have better info unfortunately.
Can you tell me if the snorkelling in Mauritius is amazing? Is there lots of tropic fish?
We're not the best judge of that unfortunately as we didn't go on many snorkelling tours when we were there. We did go snorkelling at Blue Bay in the south-east of the island and that was nice! We've also heard that you can go on nice snorkelling trips on the east coast. From what we've seen we probably wouldn't visit Mauritius only to go snorkelling, but if you're there already you can definitely find some nice spots - especially if you're going on a boat tour.
So cool! Traveling to Mauritius in less than 3 weeks. Where did you do the dolphin swim trip?
You can book these kind of dolphin trips in many places along the west coast, although they will often go more towards the south of the coast. We booked our trip through our guest house in Trou-aux-Biches, for example.
Perfect. We are near Trou-aux-biches as well 😊
I really really really want napolitain now
We can understand that! 😁
Where to buy those tent? Please send the link
It's called "Fatboy Miasun" and we bought it on Amazon Germany. We wrote a short product review on it on our website, which you can find here (it also has a link to Amazon so you can check if it's available in your region): www.zoeandsimon.io/reviews/the-best-sun-protection-for-the-beach-that-isnt-an-umbrella-fatboy-miasun
Hope that helps! 🙂
Great videos, quality materials. More and more challenging to find REAL quality travel vlogs since everything is full with “influencers” who rather show their bikinis instead of the location :D … I am just about to organize our trip to Mauritius, your videos are helping a lot :) thanks!
Thanks a lot for the kind words, we're glad our videos were helpful! 😊 Hope you have a great time on Mauritius and let us know if you have any questions 🙂
By the way, we've also got an overview of our route and stops on this road trip on our website www.zoeandsimon.io (under itineraries) 🙂
Hello Zoe, I love your videos but please please don't swim with dolphins. They are feeding themselves at night and sleep during the day. Even though it may look like they are awake they are not, they have to "swim" during sleep as well. Based on your video they were sleeping and you woke them up. This will cause stress and less energy for feeding. Imagine being woken up every night by boats and tourists.. Please please don't advertise this experience. And let them sleep.
