      But Tesla didn't innovate anything. Their cars especially cyber truck are extremely basic backwards low quality toys, they are in fact innovating now making cars less then thermo were and building trucks that cannot be used as truck even if they work. • @ITRIEDEL

      As a mechanical engineer you would understand tongue weight which is 1100 pounds. Or vertical pressure. Considering the weight of the cybertruck, the impact exceeded the threshold of its vertical limits. Under no circumstance would towing 11,000 lbs cause the frame to snap.

    I work in QA, specifically with cast aluminum. Aluminum is great, it's an incredible metal, it literally changed the world, but it really likes to break when you push it too far. It's easier to break than glass in certain circumstances, it's more flexible than steel in certain circumstances, it's just so dang weird and the metallurgy is so complicated, stress/strain curves and all that stuff. But the steel frame bending all over the place and the cast aluminum frame breaking, is not surprising in the slightest to me.

      Nope it shouldn't be surprising to anyone that has dealt with cast aluminum its used everywhere like lower and upper control arms on most cars and trucks that hold the front wheel on and break offen from most impacts to the wheels

    • @DrTheRich
      @DrTheRich 17 часов назад

      Also depended on the shape. They made the frame have those cross cross-sections for increased rigidity over reduced weight. But that means that instead of bending, it starts shearing the vertical parts because they can't stretch anymore. Then that shear creates a stress point for then to rip the whole thing off when pulled.
      Steel car frames often have a box or U shape, when those bend they metal can move places without starting a shear fracture, making it even less likely to break than it already is based on the material.

    So about the aluminum frame for the Cybertruck… Aluminum frames were originally designed for sports cars, because it is lighter and has more rigidity. For a truck, steel is obviously better. Like Cody said himself, aluminum obviously doesn’t have the strength for a heavy duty truck that is supposed to take punishment. If the Cybertruck was a performance built truck and not for off-road or towing (and if it wasn’t so damn ugly), I may actually consider buying it if I had the money. In my head it sounds awesome, an electric street performance truck.

    As I’m scrolling through these comments it’s funny STILL seeing people defend as to why the cyber truck frame snapped in two pieces.

    As much as Ford is - Fix Or Repair Daily (meme) we need a one for TESLA - "Too Experimental, Surprisingly Lacking Ability"

      Fords have always been tough, just not reliable. They can still be fix or repair daily while being dropped on their hitch and dragged around by an excavator.

    I genuinely think if Ford or any other truck company did their own ad in which they absolutely destroy their truck like WhistlinDiesel does, and then close off with a wrecked, crumpled mess driving off anyway, they would absolutely blow up.

      It broke because when it fell it hit the concrete as he said but what he did not mention is that the tongue wight is only 1000 which the tongue weight is the core being pushed up. When a car well over 1000 pounds goes on the tongue weight, it will break. So they pushed it over its limits please copy and paste this I want more people to be informed

      Excavator arm probably isn't tough enough to withstand that kind of force. Excavator durability test?

    Anyone who’s ever spent 5 minutes around pickup trucks knows that the hitches are indestructible and they should be…I’m surprised Cody went this far to prove basement dwelling nerds wrong. It’s common sense.

    Also important to note. The F150 is self adjusting when you bend the frame. Well, after you drop a massive concrete block. The Tesla is not and would probably explode if you tried. SCIENCE.

    One company has decades of experience building trucks, one doesn't. This video shows the results. Anyone that buys a Cybertruck to use as an actual Truck is brave indeed. At least the F150 lightning has the same body on frame construction using an actual steel frame. Aluminum cracks and shears. This is happening on new Cybertrucks. What happens after years of metal fatigue. This thing is out right dangerous and should be recalled or have their towing decertified. I guess we need to wait for a few deaths first. Other than that, I found this video hilarious.
