Driftin' Rage is a Mega Drive / SEGA Genesis racing game. It's a love letter to great classics from the 16-bit era.
There is still a lot to be done...
Note: The video is in a smaller window to allow the integer scaled pixels.

Did you notice that the character I chose in this video is exactly the creator of SGDK? It was a way I found to pay homage to him.
Now like someone said we need the svp chip ona. Stand alone cart aka sonic and knuckles and devs doing 3d games .

@@48hourrecordsteam45 Sounds good but it looks like indy developers would rather go for 32x now that Brazilians are resuscitating Sega Neptune.
The bike transition could be smoother. Maybe if the animation is not that fast. It happens in Road Rash... it's not a delay, just a longer transition, with more animation frames, so the bike could be more controllable.
I really liked everything else and am counting the days until your game's release.

sega is sleeping they have the mega drive alive with thousands of users and many new games every month and doesn't care
@SRC267 SEGA is doing fine making cross platform games. Better than ever, now that they're reviving some classic franchises. As long as they leave the indie game scene alone, it's all good.
The cars are named after personal computers of the 1980s. How deliciously nerdy! I wonder if there's a hidden X68000 car that's superior to all the other ones...

I love the little touches, seudo scaling intro , transparent countries around 1:04 mark - nice use of Shadow & Highlight mode there, Stephanes player portrait - no one more deserving to be in the game - Legend.
The polish even this early on is exceptional - Keep it up !!

Imagine that at some point in this new decade we're still saying "There's a new game coming out for the SEGA Genesis/Megadrive"
It's been that way a few times now, and not just the Genesis, happy hunting...

Amazing that people are really using the term "Mega Drive/Genesis Renaissance", and it totally fits. Who would've imagined. And of course, Brazil always representing when it comes to the MD. Game looks awesome!
Looks great. I love the pseudo scaling, voices and music, and color usage is really well done. I wonder if some of the other stages have elevation changes in the tracks or other interesting things going on.
The bike handling looks like it could benefit more from being like Super Hang-on, with a longer attenuation in steering strength.

I wonder if the bike sprite couldn't be a bit bigger? 🤔
Or maybe you think that the gameplay would become too difficult because we would bump into opponents more often?
Also, do you think that it would be possible to add hills and slopes, a bit like Road Rash?
The size of all vehicles will be changed a bit in the next version. I plan to make hills and slopes as well.

Holy shit, I haven’t been so excited for a Mega Drive game in a long time!
My only observation is that the bike leaning animation needs to be delayed to provide a sense of physicality, and the physics themselves need to be tweaked to stop such instantaneous steering as it did look a little odd. This would also help in providing a difference between the use of a car vs a bike. Perhaps bikes are advantageous because of their lower hit boxes, but slower to turn?
We really need a demo and more info on this pronto. I’m hyped!
Don't worry, in the next video, you will see some good enhancements. I listened to the suggestions from all the comments and improved what was possible.

Sempre falei que no cenário homebrews estava faltando um game de carro! Parabéns pela ótimas ideias, agora senti falta de um elemento dos games de corrida dos anos 90, o famoso turbo ou Nos! Rssss
Eu usei ele numa parte desse vídeo, só que ainda está sem os efeitos e o punch que o turbo precisa ter.

@@MXRetroDev e outra, parabéns por ter colocado barulho do motor mais música ao mesmo tempo, isso sempre me incomodou no Mega Drive, acho que nem é questão de limitação e sim de falta de experiência na época, pôs Super Hang on tinha os dois ao mesmo tempo.

Is this just going to be racing game? Or is the is going to be like road rash?
I ask because you could totally implement some very cool things if your going the road rash route
You know now that I think about it, a full auto/twisted metal type racing game would be very fun
@@user-vq1sv5zr6b It will be a "little bit of everything" style. Think a 16-bit mix of Burnout 3, Twisted Metal, Road Rash, Need for Speed, Out Run, and so on.

The main music is original, composed by Cyberdeous. If any pilots resemble any known person, it is purely coincidental. The only real character is Stephane, who is the creator of SGDK.

The highway scroll is amazing, however I feel the bike animation looks very "abrupt", maybe you can assign a button to turn the bike softer and have more control of the vehicle?
I need to change the gameplay, I agree that the movement is far from ideal in the current version.
