The most memorable place I've been is the Valley of the Kings in Egypt! It was so beautiful. You realize the difficult conditions of workers: air dry and wet, diffcult to breathe inside, etc.
Totally agree with you about the smaller, less well known shrines being special. I explored quite a few of them this last trip to Japan and some of the hidden ones were amazing.
I've read about a sort of scholarly group history day-hiking called Tapsa or Tapsa Yohaeng that is endemic to Gyeongju in Robert Oppenheim's "Kyongju Things: Assembling Place" - apparently it began with a book called "Na ui Munwha Yusan Tapsagi" by Yu Hong-jun in 1993.
Why don't you find what the Buddhism is. Korea is very right place to find it. You can cut off any angry by watching your mind. That is Buddhism. It's very easy and powerful. If you cut off all kind of greed, angry, unknowness at last, you can be a Buddha. You can learn "The diamond sutra" in English at the BTN TV site. You need Login first. Thanks! I'm glad you liked it as well!
That it was. So much was cut out from this video - but it was a blast going through all the historic sites. Wonderful day for it as well.
One of my favorite things to do is to go hiking. Check out this little hiking video from Geongju!
Hiking Namsan (Gyeongju)
Great hike Steve! Love those squirrels :)
Thanks! It was a great afternoon to do just that! Yeah, that was part of the old fortress wall.
Thanks! We loved it down there.

Thanks! We had a great time on the mountain!
Check out the blog articles. There are maps and directions.
Thank you!
There are so many great things to see on Mt. Namsan, and it looks like you definitely captured a few of them. Great job!
I still want to go there! Epic!

One day I will take all the hikes you ever told about! Its so amazing!
Yeah, makes all the difference!
Thanks you sir. This video is timely as I'm planning to go to Gyeongju soon.
Glad you enjoyed this one Kurt!
Gotta love those little hidden trails : )
Pretty place!
Awesome!!!! Please let me know how your trip goes!
Thanks for sharing that information. It was explained to use that the statue was a Buddha, but that was from a local guide and not one of the monks.
Cool!
I hope i can go to Korea, especially Gyeongju
It was a blast!
Amazing !!!
Are you going to have any videos of the tomb mounds park? I loved going there.
That would be epic!!!!
Thank you, fine sir!
wow nice~
what would I tell the taxi drive to get there? how long is the ride from the bus terminal? Looks amazing, thanks.
Next week.
Good
Really relaxing! :)
Is this the kind of tourism called Tapsa?
I am not totally sure, but the fertility statue is Kuon Yin, Not a Buddha.
Not really. The only Tapsa I know is a pagoda.
Thanks! Not as nice as some of the real mountains you've been on, though.
