I find what is so lovely about this young polish pianist is the gentleness, lightness of his touch. I feel like he caresses my ears and my soul. From the soul of Chopin, his and to mine. Also very good camera takes! Thank you!
no lightness no gentleness in op10-1 op10-4 also op10-12 in opposite Allegro con fuoco it's better j think
@@alainspiteri502 Alain, i actually only wrote about, enjoyed Szyman Nehring's playing so gently, lightly Chopin's lovely Etude in A-flat, Opus 25, no.1. i saw it also called the Aeolian Harp.i liked this one too, i did not hear the ones you mentioned.
@@karennoble1168 after this competition it's necessary to listen Hao Rao playing concerto N-1 -Chopin j think , very young pianist who seems to be an other Frederic Chopin j like this puanist ( no first price however .
@@alainspiteri502 Hao should have definitely got a prize. His concerto was my favorite from the finalists. He performed it with sensitivity and passion. It was delightful and powerful to listen to his magic.
@@DavidSmith-ki2we it-s perdonnal Hao Rao is particular not as others pianists great career in front of him
Szymon Nehring, brilliant interpretation! Im a huge fan of yours!
One of the most beautiful etudes, Ocean? and played so great by Szyman.he is just flowing.
Syzmon is just incredible. Love him.
At the end it seemed he had just gotten out of the ocean... (Nehring, I'm your fan!)
-- Szymon Nehring me procure des sensations fortes. --
I keep coming back to Nehring's rendition. He was my favorite pianist in this competition.
Technique and phrases are wonderful!!
Such a beautiful and inspiring performance!!

Outstanding performance 👏
Good and grand pianist
Great! :)
0:38 This forte is nice. As for me, I like it.

2:23 wow..
I find that szymon is the best Chopin etude player
good
Szymon Nehring is the truly wienner !!!! The real & accurate Chopin interpreter !!!
its so cool
Un gran bel canto
con que delicadeza lo toca
Wunderbar☆
Should have shared the 1st Prize.?...
1:38 sooo beautiful
Szczerze, idealnie..
In my opinion, it's the best performance of this etude. Thank you!
nah bro lmao
Alfred Cortot recording 1933 and after others
It is not even close. Multiple obvious misses, rushed, muddy pedal. 2.5/5 at best.
@@mikekushnir3950 There's a reason why some people end up playing for massive audiences at important competitions in Warsaw and why some people critique them from their chair at home with or without real substance. It's because there are people who do things, and people who say things. If only we tried to critique others by producing our own variants rather than just commenting things like you did, maybe the world of music would be far, far more beautiful and less snobbish.
only Alfred Cortot is above the keyboard in the world with op25-12 but here is great pianist for me ( my taste only )
Wow...
❤❤❤❤
Woah
super, choc mozna jeszcze bardziej burzliwie

I think he needs more accents
Lmao
lol no plz
You’ve listened to too much Lang Lang
I agree
Yes especially the beginning
When are the gonna let people clap
Is this in the RCM ARCT selection? I'm in ARCT, but this seems a bit too hard for me...
Piano Roots Music it looks difficult but its not that bad. Its pretty much the same 3 note chords repeated over 2 octaves
It's brutal. Marcel failed at piano miserably. Don't listen to him.
No it's not brutal xD. It's easy to read. Read it at about 2 weeks completely. However the playing takes months or even years. Its hard to play it a tempo. You would get wrong notes and right hand would get stiff so its more of a practice makes perfect thing. This is actually a bit slower, Chopin intended it to be really fast yet with so much emotion, so its as hard as it gets.
Piano Roots Music it's not that difficult it's just playing arpeggiated chords on different octaves. The hard part is the endurance. You have to build up your endurance.
Try something easier:)

I think he next richter

İdil biret plays the best
Sokolov too fast
@@jakubgrzybacz2025
One man's meat...
@@jakubgrzybacz2025 it IS an OCEAN after all, it's meant to be overwhelming, and more speed achieves that effect very well
@@spicy7302Well technically Chopin didn’t name his etudes so the name has nothing to do with the style of play.

1:08 so intense, wonderful pianist !!!
Why do so few people play this etude in the competition?
Because it is easy
Two relatively obscure recordings that are my favourites are the recordings by Vyacheslav Gryaznov and Tal-Haim Samnon. But I think I think these for their clear sound so I'm not sure if it's suited to your idea...
Oh my, everything written here apart from Ben's first post is an absolute joke.
So, apparently there's at least one other recording I have yet to discover of this piece. I love it no matter who plays it, since everyone's coming at it with their own take, and this is such a masterpiece that it works.
손 조성진보다 큰 거 같다 ;;
why so fast? why thinking music in terms of "the fastest possible"? we need time to digest what we are hearing.
Luis Kolodin Its not too fast, And you have to play it fast if you want the melody to be clear. Since its only the first note of each mesures.
Speed is 160 bpm on the sheets.
All the other versions are actually too slow.
@@brechtmoonen5660 this is an unmusical way of reading piano scores. this speed may not be Chopin's own, and even it if were it was written for a much less powerful piano, his own Pleyel, where you can hear details more easily. all of this counts while playing musically a piece. and besides, there are large studies showing how virtually every composer usually chose much faster tempi while composing, and changed their mind by up to 50% afterwards, to the point one must convey the andamento and character of the piece, NOT a metronomical speed.
@@LuisKolodin And what do you think is the character of the piece? Have you ever tried yourself to accelerate the tempo from MM 65 to MM 80? I have, and in my experience the character of the piece changes completely. At the faster speed it is not musical to make a crescendo from the bottom to the top note, as many performers do. Only at this speed is the true challenge of this etude exposed: how to play, and voice, a double-handed block chord that covers the whole keyboard's range? in direct contrast to the challenge of Op. 10 No. 1. which is how to play a sequence of broken chords that cover the whole piano.
@@daniely.poonsyverson2603 exactly! it changes the character and it becomes non-melodical. but there should also be time for the listener to digest. about the Op.10/1, Angela Lear who is a Chopin specialist has quite a different opinion about it. it has been misplayed this whole time. it is a very difficult study that should be played softly, not loud, so no need to be extremely fast either (Op10/1 is much more dificult than Op25/12 anyway...). Chopin is about colorful piano playing, not as fast as possible, as loud as possible. he's own Pleyel shows other musical possibilities that are not fashionable.
0:26...mmmmm...

Too gentle, where's the fiery passion?? Needs more accents
Needs? Or you want it? What you want personally isn't always what others should do.
I agree , its not fiery like the normal renditions but I actually like this rendition !
Dont forget that all the recording of 2015 chopin competition have the sound make less loud.
way too much pedal, muddy and not clean, not to mention MULTIPLE misses. Playing this way during the competition is borderline embarrassing.
That is so boring
go away bully... ... . . . . . .
You are so boring
XD perfect representation of society nowadays. Don't know how to appreciate the music that came before their "pop", "hip hop","rock n roll", and whatever else
