Hyeeelllooo!! As you might have noticed, I am on a massive Declutter Spree (band name, called it) lately and I felt like it was time for another closet PURGEEEE. The last time I did one of these was over a YEAR ago, can you believe that? These clothes were due for a chuckin', I'd say. I was much more strict on myself this time around, and ended up getting rid of a LOT of vintage. Well, you'll see, hehe.
ENJOY!

Rachel's problem is that she looks really cute in anything.
Fact!
Accurate!
Man, if I could pick my problems, being too cute is high on the list.
She has like the perfect figure for clothes. She literally looks good in everything.

I would really like a compilation of Rachel hiding from people in her own house/yard.

Yes!!! 😂😂😂😂
Someone with phone space- please make this and share the link
I always laugh SO hard at those parts.
Seriously yes! Her counterpart to Frodo growling at every passerby!
"I don't go to the beach."
"But what if I doooo????"
That's how I justify keeping everything.
I let myself have one item specifically for "but what if?" situations, and if I see something that I want for that scenario I have to decide whether it's better than the one I already have. That also makes me actually use the item if that situation comes up lol
The moment get rid of it, is the moment we go to the beach for some reason. Hate this :l
Nick’s “these are terrible” has me cackling. But for real, you’re extra funny the whole way through this video. 😂
OH MY LADY PLEASE BLESS MY EAR CANALS WITH A NEW TUNE SOON.
OMG I love your music!!
Omg I LOVE your music! :o
They are so lucky to have each other!! He supports her in all her endeavors, and is there to bounce ideas off of, and you can tell she really loves him for it. She is creative and exciting which keeps him on his toes as to never be bored. I will still be watching her channel when they are old farts.
Side note: I really wish she didn’t take the negative comments to heart. Seeing Sad Rachel makes me sad, and she doesn’t need to change a damn thing. It’s her channel! No matter what one does in their life, there will always be people for it and people against it, so be you and let those that like you like you for who you are, and those who don’t can suck an egg.
I didn't realize you had a mirror beside for a good 4 minutes, I just thought you had an ungodly amount of clothes 😂
I'm right up there with you
I never would have known if you didn’t say anything oh my god
I thought the same! 😂
Ooohhh
That is actually my favorite :)
Okay. I'm a exec. assistant and literally organize people for a living. Whenever we get these types of videos from Rachel I have the strongest urge to jump on a plane and go help. It's my jam. I couldn't do half the creative stuff Rachel does (mural of dreams in the bedroom? 😭) but I could organize the crap out of the emails, professional calendar, and finally this closet. There. I've said it. Now I can go back to enjoying her lovely personality which is like 💯 why I'm here (content? No. I'm here for the almost bff hang out time. Lol).
Underrated comment ! 🤘😎🤘
Human tornado 🌪that we adore💖
I'm the same way! I've helped so many friends organize their closets/computers. I love it so much.
Arielle and Gentry... I wish I had a friend who is great at organizing! Also, you both have such lovely names!
How did you get a job like that? I am very interested 😳
Rachel, you need some thin roller blinds or fabric roller blinds for your windows. Not only will it prevent the outside world from seeing your scantily antics but it will also provide even lighting. They are also cheap and easy to install and you can get them cut to fit your windows. The brackets are small and you can remove the blinds pretty easily if you don't want them to stay in your windows all the time.
The day I hung up my cheap Ikea netting blinds I danced around my loungeroom in my undies and it was a great day. 10/10 recommend
That will effect the lighting tho.
She would have to put up artificial lights and natural lighting is always the most flattering.
You could also try sheers. That's what I put on my windows for privacy.
@@elainedoremus2688 there's irony there.
@@katerrinah5442 Not necessarily! I have thin white IKEA blinds (the kind that just attach to the ceiling with adhesive) and it's basically daylight, except maybe not quite as intense.
"I can't be the only one who keeps an assortment of evening dresses in their wardrobe...just in case." 😅 I feel called out. I have what definitely constitutes a red carpet evening dress hanging is a dress bag in my closet.....just in case.
I have the exact dress she was wearing when she said that but in green...which I wore once...for Christmas pictures that I took of myself in my backyard...😂
Even better, I have some THAT DON'T EVEN FIT ME ANY MORE! But I can't get rid of them - they're vintage :-D
Yup. I have a dress that was *rather expensive*, even bought half price, that I've worn for exactly 45 minutes.
I bought a vintage evening dress for prom that I knew I didn't want to go to and now it chills in the basement never worn.
Wear The Dress! I have a satin bridesmaids dress, it was bespoke, I wear it when I need to just be Extraaaaaaa. Highly recommended.

WOAH NOVAAA
For the clothes that I only wear occasionally (but still really love and cannot part with) like fancy dresses, vacation/beach clothes, etc, I keep them in vacuum-sealed bags and put them in a faux-antique chest ('cause real antique chests cost too dang much, lol) that doubles as a end-of-the-bed-table (there's a word for this, I'm sure) in my bedroom. That way I don't have to buy a new dress every time there's some type of Fancy Function™ or a vacation (what are those again?), but I also don't have all my fancy-clothes taking up space in my closet all the dang time.
Genius!
Honestly, ngl, I wear my evening dresses out and about. A long statement dress to go grocery shopping? Why not! A floofy tropical dress to walk through the park and some costume-y jewelry? Who can stop me!? No one!!!!
.....that said I should go through my closet too, looool.
Yay! There are more of us!!!

I felt that librarian line, every historybounding/historically inspired piece I make for myself, the more I feel like I'm turning into a steampunk/fantasy librarian who's ever so slightly bitter about having to curate a cursed library because cultists won't stop botching spells on the premises.
🤣
I would read a book about her adventures
I love the specificity and I also want to frequent said library so I could botch some spells myself!
Okay but don’t leave me hanging, where’s the fanfic for this?
Next thing I knew I was a history major wearing librarian clothes,,, the transformation is coming
I can't even tell you how comforting it is that someone else in the world bases their clothing choices off of the media they consume
My late mother-in-law had the best closet organize hack ever. Every New Yesrs Day, she’d go thru her closet and turn all of her hangers backward. (Where the opening of the hook was facing out.) Then throughout the year, as she’d wear and wash her clothes, she hang them normally. (Where the opening of the was facing the wall.). Then the following New Years Day, she’d take all of the clothes that the hangers were still facing out and donate them. Then she’d start all the way over.
My mother, when I was eight, gave me a floor length black velvet backless “just in case” ball gown “for when you’re older, you’ll need one’ 😂 I think everyone has those extra fancy dresses in their closet
Hi! I'm an opera singer, and I have an Extraordinarily Glamourous Evening Gown Hoarding problem, too! I justify this problem, of course, by saying I'll wear them in concerts and recitals... but it's lockdown and I DON'T.
I literally own a peacock-coloured ball gown. JUST IN CASE.
If you are a singer definitely a necessity. You have my full support to collect all the dresses.
You must keep all of them!!! One day lockdown will be over, and you won’t be able to replace your glamorous evening gowns so easily!
Robin same!! As a harpist I do wear my Extraordinarily Glamorous Gowns but I still definitely NEED some more, right??
@@sophiegraf3262 Of course! Not only do I continue to feel like I need more, I feel like I need one in every colour and cut! :P It's a problem. There should be a classical musician support group somewhere for it!

I really like that she casually mentioned that she is wearing shape wear - because of course it is completely ok to do so. What is awful are the influences who are using everything from shape wear to Photoshop to look better and not be transparent about it, which can really mess with the self esteem of people!
She posted a great video about being kind to your meatbag, last year-ish. You might like it.
@@spacewolfcub I’ll have to look that one up! I’m sure I saw it at the time but that’s the kind of thing I need frequent reminders of 😊
YES. I fully agree that it’s ok to wear and that it’s ok to talk about. But mentioning it in such a casual way that I barely registered it is what we need more of. Everyone has enough insecurities without us all piling unrealistic expectations upon ourselves and each other. I’d like this comment a million times if I could!
"I don't go to the beach"
"but what if I DOOO"

If every thrift store was Rachel’s closet then I might actually enjoy shopping and need a whole separate room for clothes! I want them all.....
Rachel: this would be really cute to wear at the beach, like Sweeney Todd!
Also Rachel: ...I DON'T GO TO THE BEACH!

Fun fact Rachel spends 3 hours talking to herself. Her hobbies include making clothing out of old curtains and table clothes and hiding from her neighbors in her own house. 😂😂
Maybe a folding dress screen would work, very theatrical for reveals.
"i don't go to the beach" " BUT WHAT IF I DOOO" i feel represented in this whole video
To save your sanity (and your coffers, milady!) DO NOT WATCH 'All Creatures Great and Small". If you have not seen it already, it was a show produced in Britain in the 1970s based on a series of books about being a veterinarian in the 1940s English Countryside....It's a wonderful show with a sprightly opening song.....but the costuming is so gorgeous that your bank account will scream in terror because of your shopping.
Cries in tweed !
Geez! I remember watching that! (In my 20's). And being so upset when it ended!
my family convinced me (it wasn't that hard tbh) to watch the reboot..... rip my bank account
I dread closet purges! My rule of thumb is: "If it doesn't fit me anymore, get rid of it. If I haven't thought of wearing it in like, twenty years, get rid of it." I just don't open my closet anymore, because all of my clothes have shrunk. Jeans and a t-shirt are what I wear now. Mind you, if I had a figure like Rachel's... ~Janet in Canada
No I had to full stop. Like pause the video, rewind, and wipe a tear because I laughed so much when she was explaining her morning foot cramp because that happening to me ALL THE TIME and I just thought I was the only one who worked that way

What I tell myself to justify my multiple bathing suit purchases.
Me with the Collectif Pearl Coats. I have two but I want two more.....I'm agoraphobic! where the fuck am I going to go?! XD
Not that long ago i had 8 bikini tops. I live in Tampa, Florida and have been to the beach twice in the last 5 years
Oh shit..... i may be guilty of this same sin.....
I can do better than that, I own a swimming costume and 3 bikinis. Can I swim? Of course not! But I feel cute when I wear them! 😅 x
I'm extremely guilty of having stuff 'just in case'. But it has actually paid off once or twice. Like when I got invited last minute to my sister's friend's wedding and I already had a dress. Or when for a when my sister needed to borrow a purse for some function or other. So the problem continues.
I feel like it’s almost worse if you had something Just In Case once because now you use that to justify more purchases.
I like to think of it as being resource-full or a maximalist. It has bailed me/my friends out many times like when my child is suddenly remembering at 10pm they need a costume for Medieval day at school the next day or you are invited to a dress up glam costume Oscar party that a fun friend throws together at the last minute. I am Always Prepared.

The foot thing... is cramps... try some potassium supplements or some bananas... Same thing used to happen to me, before I started taking supplements...
Calcium helps too! 🥛
And magnesium! I get plenty of potassium, but when I started taking magnesium, the foot cramps went away!
Yes! I usually don’t comment on RUclips videos but I had to say something. Magnesium also helps with muscle cramping.
If you get up and walk on it, the cramping charley horse goes away faster. Just gingerly ease the foot down flat and take a few steps. Sounds insane, but it really does work.

I feel this whole thing so much! Especially the evening wear hoarding
I grew up in a hoarding house, so I learned real quick that if I want something new I have to get rid of something old. So I always take at least one bag to donation every time I plan to go shopping so that there is room in my closet and I don’t feel like a hoarder. You did great though! It takes some time to get used to getting rid of things you never wear.
I definitely want to purge my closet as well. But I also believe a true Mario Kondo style purge involves pulling all the garments out of the closet into a pile, and then decide if they fit/spark joy/look flattering. But it is very tedious and that initial pile does make you feel like a dragon hoarding precious rags. I loved all of this video - love Frodo and all the tangents and funny hilarity.
Rachel immediately assuaging my fears by having Frodo in the sponsor segment. I was worried now that she has a dedicated work space we wouldn't be seeing as much of him
When doing closet purges u gotta start with a pile of yes and maybe, then go through the piles of maybe into yes Nd no.. it gets over the initial fear of separation 😂😂.. also u need lace curtains! You can see out they can’t see in!
The black and white polka dot dress was adorable!!
I’ve spent my whole maternity leave bingeing and rebingeing your videos. It’s felt like hanging out with a friend instead of being stuck at home during this pandemic. Thank you for being so awesome and funny 🥰

I need to do this with my clothes. As a plus size woman I have to stop getting sucked in to buying outfits based on the item being modelled on a smaller woman- they just don’t look the same on my chubby hobbit frame! 🧙🏻♀️🧝🏻♀️
Oh gurl I know the struggle. If I like a dress I check the comments for photos of it on people who bought it to see how it actually sits on someone not a size 12/14
If it doesn't bring you joy when you are wearing it, time for it to go!
Another chubby hobbit here! I covet plus size maxi skirts because they flow nicely, touch my toes and with the right top even make me look taller.
That's how I snap my fingers too! Always enjoy a good closet purge that is actually honest about how hard it is to get rid of stuff 👌
I think we need to crowd fund Rachel some sheer curtains or something.
They better be sheer otherwise she might make them into clothing :-D
"Do you buy clothes for all the things you see yourself doing?"
I can't even begin to tell you how many formal dresses I buy because I might need one some day. I mean, what would I wear if I was invited to the White House? Or the Oscar's? Lol (because they totally just randomly call people and invite them for no reason- "hello, we heard you have been a mom for 20 years now with no social life, here's a ticket to the Oscar's and an all expenses paid trip to go with it" 🤣
P.S. I live in a place where a "formal wedding" means you wear your best Sunday going to church clothes.
Not to mention if any of us found ourselves in a situation like that, we would most likely... buy another dress...

Re: the foot thing, it's a foot cramp. I get them a lot since I did dance a lot as a teen. You can actually see the muscle twisting and the bones flexing, it's awful. Athletes get them frequently too, which since you said you did sports in school might be why? Really there's not much you can do to prevent them besides making sure you get enough magnesium (edit: magnesium and potassium seem to be the correct minerals!) in your diet and water. Simple fix though!
@@Nicole-zy4vb potassium! I knew it was one of those minerals no one really thinks about. But yeah you're correct, hydration and making sure you get your vitamins and minerals is the only way I know of for preventing them.
Until I started taking a potassium and magnesium supplement, I'd get these horrible muscle cramps that would start in my foot and move up my leg, all the way up into my hip sometimes. Funny how something I thought I'd just have to live with and blamed on an old injury was so easily fixed.
I used to get ones like that in my calves (worst pain I've ever had) and the best thing I did was completely straighten my foot (you have the urge to point it, I stretch it like I would be standing, 90° from my leg) and it almost immediately goes away. (You have to really stretch it though)
@@Nicole-zy4vb that make sense. I'd get them in the middle of the night while sleeping so I couldn't really get up before they got bad
@@Nicole-zy4vb oh I get that! no worries

I wonder if Rachel could draft some patterns from the clothes she's she's going to part with. And just modify the patterns a bit to fit her knew tastes.
thats what i was thinking for that black dress with the sweetheart neckline. it fit her soooo well, so flattering, and she always says she has trouble with fitting things in a flattering fashion to her torso, so that would be an excellent one to imitate.
Watching her purge her closet, makes me want to BUY her closet. LOL!
