how do you get the Type-S? i have every car including Zender Alpha and Beta but the Type-S i still dont have. ive alr beat the World Champion, please help.

This was one of the first games I played after finally getting a hold of a PS2 shortly after its release. Hiding from an angry security guard who eventually got told off by the cops. Good times.

I and another man decided to keep our places in line and hid behind some air conditioning units when the guard began driving around the parking lot. I think maybe 10 minutes had passed and then everyone started lining up again. That's when police were called and they told the guard to leave everyone alone since we weren't causing any trouble. So we continued to wait in line after all that. 6 hours later between waiting outside and more waiting inside, I finally got to checkout and go home.
The improvement from Midnight Club: Street Racing to Midnight Club II is absolutely insane. Rockstar Games is always improving their quality, efforts, and content however as a child I never actually realized just how good II was compared to the first installment. It's a wonderful series from The original to Midnight Club LA, but I feel like II and Midnight Club III: Dub Edition (along with remix were the best ones. This game is a very interesting toss up, as it doesn't appear to be as difficult as II, however no where near as easy as III to complete and master. There was a lot of Player handicaps that were introduced that I feel like really took away from the true experience of playing a Midnight Club as time went on. Most likely do to younger crowds taking interest. The original MNCs will always be my favorite.
Muito Bom(b)! Midnight Club 1 has this strange feeling, it's a totally different atmosphere from the rest of the series, which always makes it a breath of fresh air.
I feel the same way about Burnout 1 and Ratchet & Clank 1. It seems like every early game on the PS2 has that unique atmosphere that makes them stand out from their younger siblings. When I become an indie developer, I want to recreate that atmosphere.
I dont know if it was because i was very young (4 years old) and so these games are stamped into my earliest memories, but don't these older games from the very early 00s have a real specific aesthetic quality to them? The music, colours, graphics etc just have such a specific feeling to them that's impossible to describe.
Haven't played this game in a while, I might need to start doing that! Also this runs in the same game engine as midtown madness 2, so that makes it even more enjoyable, it was an awesome driving game engine for the time and still is.
I used to play this game an awful lot during my P.S.2 days. Never beat it, but it was always a load of fun and a great distraction from the demons of my childhood.
Loved the playthrough Reiji, easily one of the best I’ve seen for this game. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Savo was the protagonist of Midnight Club 1. My theory is that Savo was a soldier who was discharged from the military due to injuries he got in the Yugoslav wars in the 90s (since he’s of Slavic origin, mentions having died twice and has serious injuries that would likely lead to a soldier being considered unfit for active duty. Also MC and GTA are both made by Rockstar and Niko Bellic’s character from GTA4 has some parallels with Savo). Like many Eastern Europeans in the late 90s and early 2000s, he moved to New York for a fresh start, but due to his injuries he couldn’t find many opportunities so he settled for being a cab driver. Of course this was incredibly boring, didn’t pay well and made him start to view himself as pathetic due to his lack of success at attaining the “American Dream”. Hearing about the Midnight Club, Savo follows Emilio to a race and discovers his skill and passion for street racing. Over the course of the first game he defeats racers across NYC and London for the thrill and challenge he gets from racing skilled opponents, becoming World Champion at the end. By the time of Midnight Club 2, Savo has been the unopposed World Champion for years. He has grown so bored with the lack of challenge that he considers his title a burden, at one point in game saying “Just once I wish I could race someone better than me.” Despite his success in racing, it hasn’t made him any happier in life. When meeting the Midnight Club 2 protagonist, he says “A new challenger? My pathetic existence, it has come to this” and “Maybe you’ll be the one to free me of this burden.” He once again views himself as pathetic, this time because he’s trapped by his own success. He became too good to lose but in doing so lost his passion for racing. He’s glad to finally be relieved of the title of World Champion by the Midnight Club 2 protagonist, most likely so he can move on to another fresh start.
My strongest memory of this game was the day after 9/11. My country ass had never been to Manhattan, or any large city, so I’d never seen a skyscraper. I booted up the game & did figure 8s around the towers, my child mind trying to comprehend what happened.

This was my favourite ps2 racing game as a kid, but my god did the janky physics frustrate me. To this day I still haven't been able to unlock the London police vehicles, at 2:22:55 you beat it by the length of a gnat's pubic hair
Still got a working copy from 2002, only the music in New York stutters like mad because of scratches. It wasnt until 2015 I managed to get the 3rd flying Zender car. I never thought of beating the game in career mode haha.
