one thing about Jacob, he will turn into a raging capitalist at any opportunity in a video game. Also towards the end when they joke about who would be what in a Drawfee band, if Nathan is a singer, these two are guitar/bass, Karina could be drums and David on keyboard. based upon nothing but vibes only.
Karina has too big a personality to be a drummer and Nathan too small for a singer. I think Nathan would be on drums, I agree for david, Julia on bass, and Jacob and Karina both on guitar and singing.
I can identify with Julia at 7:31, there's an oft-repeated story of me one time when I was a very small child, I was upset that I'd forgotten something I wanted to say and some adult tried to console me by saying "if it's important you'll remember," and I broke down SOBBING saying "BUT IT WASN'T IMPORTANT!"
"Must have been a lie." is another retort I heard as a child; a saying applied to anyone when they forgot their words. Feeling like a liar, was not a trade up from feeling forgetful.
@@andrewfleenor7459 an absolute lie. It can be so frustrating trying to explain to people that "important" and "memorable" do not correlate in my poor brain
That happens to me all the time. My mind essentially constantly has new things running through it, so if I have to wait at all to say something I tend to have something else start running through my head and I forgot what it was I was going to say.
"DUNKOOOOO" occasionally echoes through the halls of my mind at odd hours of the night, like ghosts whispering ominous premonitions that mortals are not allowed to decipher
Julia reminding us that can she can use power tools made me remember just how powerful she is. It's only balanced by her lack of cooking skills. I'm pretty sure she could build a functioning rocket and be like "yea you kind of just watched me learn how to build it, I didn't watch a tutorial before or anything"
Reminds me of Yor from the anime Spy x Family. She’s socially awkward and can’t cook or clean, but she’s an amazing assassin and has really good mom energy.
I absolutely love seeing the crazy boundaries of her expertise like she'll build a miniature haunted house for her sculpted luigi for a simple challenge, ...and then there's the characters from memory video
I'm kind of into the Miami Vice vibe they had on this stream, they both look super fabulous in an appropriately retro way. Style, talent, AND charm? Be still, my heart.
Hey - idk if you’ll see this, but you two should check out a game called “Strange Horticulture”! I think it’d be right up Julia’s street, especially :) Imagine running a dark, strange (it’s in the name, after all lmao), kinda creepy horticulture shop selling anything from pretty flowers that smell like strawberries and honey to literal *poison* while simultaneously solving puzzles, riddles, and murder mysteries (and just your bog standard mysteries, too)...that’s the game!
For a moment there I thought "The Fall" was the English name for the German movie about Hitler "Der Untergang". And while I first thought Julia might have a taste I can't comprehend, when Jacob said Julia called it "a beautiful movie" I did finally find the confused motivation to google it xD Also, I have the Rona since yesterday and I feel horrible. Please wish me luck at trying not to die.
Julia loving the Mummy makes me so happy I love that movie, I can quote it as well XD Her explaining the plot made me smile so widely. Also both of you look so fashionable!
I WASNT registered to vote it turns out even though I thought I was. Thank you to Julia for getting me to get it sorted out. it only took a couple minutes and was pretty stress free personally.
I'm sure y'all figured it out, but the "no cash to deposit" message confused me too. I THINK what it is doing is showing you that message because you're looking at the safe... and it automatically deposits the money as soon as you unlock it. So yes, you had money, it was deposited, and because you're now looking at the safe with no money, it says you have no money to deposit. It's weird, lol.
the funny thing in the storyline of this game is that, despite being a real dick about it, the dad is actually right. video arcades died out (at least for awhile... now they're kind of coming back a little, I think) but laundromats never went away.
That... depends on where you are... Dry cleaning places? Those are everywhere, and I doubt that they're going anywhere anytime soon. But actual laundromats, where you wash your own clothes? Those are significantly rarer than they used to be in places like where I live... I imagine that they're just as common as ever in places with high population density, like large cities, though...
I just noticed that the character's right wrist does not have a watch on it when loading or unloading washers and dryers, but it magically appears every time they get a message. That's a funny oversight, especially since ultimately it's completely harmless.
dear julia: sewing your own finger looks much easier than it is to actually do (just keep ur eye on the needle - which you're already watching to ensure your stitches are in the right place)
Yes! While I can definitely see why it might feel intimidating, it really is harder to hurt yourself than you might fear. I learned how to use a sewing machine when I was 5 or 6 and I know Julia is infinitely more capable than I am. Keep your eye on your work and go slow if you need to :)
Space canterbury tales but it's also about John Keats is a wild book but it does exist and is decidedly historically relevant to the whole sci-fi genre. And I think that's neat.
Yeah, I watched it totally blind years ago and thought it was great. Everyone else I recommended it to also enjoyed it. But I never described it to people as a horror movie, as I didn't think of it as one. I think if someone watches it with those genre expectations, they might be disappointed.
wow, I didn't realise they actually don't use a 24 hour clock at all in the US. Random but interesting! Also this game looks super-addictive and it was extremely calming to watch you play it
I opened this on my TV to watch while I make breakfast, but I when I saw Julia's fit I literally shouted "JULIA!!! 😲😲😲" Insane that she keeps getting away with this. Jacob too gahdamn.
In the 90s we called it ABC gum and we were grateful for it! 👵🏻 Also, you almost have to be trying to sew your own finger with a machine. The metal foot that holds the fabric down does a good job of keeping your fingers away from the needle.
Did they play all of that Coffee Talk game? That was a nice chill vibes games where you just do a job and meet people. Maybe Julia would like more of that
i need a buy/do-not-buy list from julia and jacob for all the games theyve played on sss 😭 edit: ive bought the game - highly recommend if u like the mundane task type game julia mentioned heh
AHHH the Dan Simmons Hyperion reference was so unexpected!! I have no clue how pervasive it is in the zeitgeist lmao so it always shocks me when someone mentions it! It’s one of my favorite series of all time 🎉
medical needles and tattoo/piercing needles are all very different. medical needles are larger and unfortunately a decent number of medical professionals will just jam it in without any tact or care. piercing needles are smaller and it just punches your skin once instead of sitting in there with a risk of being jostled around under your skin. tattoo needles generally dont even pierce all the way through your skin, are even smaller, and again dont just hang out inside of you
I don't know if I'm alone on this, but this game gives me huge Yakuza vibes. This whole game could be one of the business minigames inside a Yakuza game, I love it
To be able to ACTUALLY play the guitar and not just strum chords is very technical, very handiwork kinda skill. On the drawfee parallel, I’ll be DAMNED if anyone wouldn’t associate that kind of skill with how Julia makes art. Thus, she would HAVE to be the guitarist or even pianist of the Drawfee band. I am so thoroughly queer and I have spoken
The movie they’re talking about at 1:00:18 is Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum and I feel so fricken vindicated because I watched that movie with my friends and they all hated it and I loved it.
For some reason the garbage doesn't bug me but the fact that there's no way to wash your hands or whatever after removing the gum really squicks me out, I think maybe because the animation for the minigame actually shows your hand touching it rather than just cursor abstraction...
since they're talking ab horror movies, everyone please go watch The Guest, the korean show!!!!!! it's so good, it's got found family and it's v exciting. more thriller than horror tho in my opinion. also the main three characters should definitely all be in a throuple together
I wonder in addition to the pastiche of GTA font etc if the title "Racer Chaser" is a nod to the original working title for the game that would become the first top-down GTA, which was "Race n' Chase?"
I loved being in the chat for this bc there were so many Geralt of Riviera jokes in chat and everyone was so excited when they got the achievement. Also when chat was listing bands and it went from obscure bands to The Beetles.

i do love how julia was trying to get people to notice jacobs fashion, but jacob was like "today you're the hot one"
lmao yeah, thats adorable
Very cute n I love but let's be real they're both the hot ones
we love a supportive couple
Jacob and julia look like a pair of PIs from different eras who have to work together to solve a case and im v much here for it
Like Julia's from the 30-40's and Jacob's from the 80's-90's. Julia has multiple guns, Jacob has a Walkman.
Detective and colar fixer
Sherlock and Magnum PI?
Nice
Julia’s a noir detective and jacob is dressed like a guest character in death in paradise
“Sometimes life happens to you, and sometimes you happen to you” is…way too real.
one thing about Jacob, he will turn into a raging capitalist at any opportunity in a video game. Also towards the end when they joke about who would be what in a Drawfee band, if Nathan is a singer, these two are guitar/bass, Karina could be drums and David on keyboard. based upon nothing but vibes only.
100% that's how it would play out
Karina has too big a personality to be a drummer and Nathan too small for a singer.

Julia has such good 'mom' energy at the start: look at my good looking boy! He's dressed so we'll!

'sometimes bad things happen to you and sometimes you happen to you' is the realest thing I've ever heard
The sheer amount of stress I felt when they ignore the laundry to continue a game I cannot handle this
Julia loving the Mummy makes me so happy I love that movie, I can quote it as well XD Her explaining the plot made me smile so widely. Also both of you look so fashionable!
Every time you guys say "dunko" my toddler tries to say it, too. It's pretty cute
I played this game OBSESSIVELY for about a week. It's not *exactly* what I wanted it to be, but it is pretty great.

This game gives a very unrealistic expectation of how quickly you can access dial up internet
I love watching this game.... There's enough game, but there's so much time to chat- it feels like you're at an actual laundromat/arcade.
Julia, in regards to sewing (and probably a lot of other things), stupider people than you have figured it out. I have faith that you can do it.
I love these capybara spa esque videos they're so immersive lmao
Oooh if julia's looking for vibe games, "coffee talk" is sooo good and its got a chill ost as well

Not me having an entire meltdown over Woodgal having Prodigy music during the matching game
watching Indiana jones as a kid made me want to become a anthropologist, now I have a degree in it and pursuing my masters.
omg if julia gets into sewing i will die, also she should be more terrified of cats and sewing pins than of pricking herself with the machine.
Drawfee band: Karina aggressively playing drums, Jacob keytar, Julia bass, Nathan vocals with sometimes guitar, David doing cool lights and FX
