    DJ I have huge amounts of respect of your opinions on bouts and fighters in general, one of the few fighters who actually gives unbiased and objective opinions around here. So it comes as a big surprise to me the way you criticize Pantoja’s reign of the division, you and I know that pantoja was a guy who was never meant to be champion, good fighter for the division but never champion. He was never meant to be someone like you, cejudo or Deiveson, guys that have such a big technical/physical gap to their opponents that they can just steamroll them. So instead of criticizing the way his fights go, people like you and the fans should be admiring and respecting a guy who makes up for those disadvantages with guts and relying on what he haves and with that is able to be a great champion tied for 2nd most defenses in the division already

      He grabbed the cage ONCE. How many times was he kicked in the nuts? How many times does Leon Edwards or Usman grab the cage?!
      Make sure you hold thst against Erceg.

    • @viniciusdias5887
      @viniciusdias5887 26 дней назад +1

      I am not saying he is the only who did it, neither that he wasn't more effective in striking. Ignoring whatever you think of the result, the fact is in the fifth he was drained, that's why he needed to grab the fence to try and stop the takedown unlike in the previous rounds. That's the same reason he did the takedowns, he couldn't keep the pace anymore. I am not saying it was a bad fight for him.
      I also criticize Leon Edwards for inserting his fingers inside the gloves in every grappling exchange.
      With regards to the groin kicks in this fight, it's a strange argument to begin with. None of them were intentional, the two I saw happened when Pantoja was on the ground keeping Erceg away and trying to post on his hip, not really kicking. Second, Erceg himself wasn't affected by neither of the ones that I saw, he didn't even register that they happened like in the Pereira vs Hill fight (where it was actually a strike thrown), he just kept pressing the offensive. If he had felt it and pointed them out to the referee he would receive time and Pantoja would have lost points. If the "goin kicks" affected him, Erceg was well within his right to call them out and he would've benefited from it, so if that was truly the case why didn't he do it? It doesn't make sense right now, maybe we will get more information later.
      Either way the "groin kicks" have practically nothing to do with my comment with the added context. I wasn't merely talking about the judges decision but rather what motivated Erceg to fight the last round the way he did: he had some amount of fatigue. I .not trying to take away nothing from either fighter, for someone who was ranked 10°, he proved he has enough caliber to fight the best in the division and the potential to be champion in a reasonably short time.

    • @nme_mma

    Man ngl Pantoja is the most underwhelming champion ive seen in a cool minute. His past 3 fights bro has gassed out by the third round and gotten absolutely lit up on the feet, His grappling is juuuust strong enough to save him in these moments but he really isnt doing anything with it. Mans look VERY beatable, And it's incredibly frustrating watching these fighters not pull the trigger on him and fail to stop his takedowns even when he's clearly exhausted. He's the champ but I don't believe he's the best 125er in the world for a second. That title still goes to DJ tbh.

      @@trevorphillips8734 Dude I literally don't know squat about Erceg lol I'm not mad he lost cause I thought he was incredible underwhelming as well, Just stating that as champion, Pantoja hasn't really separated himself all that much from other contenders, He doesn't LOOK like a champion out there, Cardio is almost non existent, Striking defense is almost non existent & Grappling while still impressive has been utilized more for stalling than anything, He seems like he's totally fine scraping by with wins when he should be at least making an attempt to make a statement as champion. Rn 125 is kinda sorry overall, And the skill gap between guys like Pantoja & Moreno and someone like DJ is very apparent. Hopefully someone in the division can grow ahead of the pack so the UFC has a champion that actually carries the aura of a champion.
