Dustin is one of the fighters that can actually absorp kicks and counter em with great punches... The pain he absorbs is substituted with some significant punches to his opponents faces, is significant, but the punches he countered with could be of greater significance. I noticed that counter everytime Dustin got kicked n he always manages to stun the opponents. I bet, Islam noticed that trait too
thank god DJ decided to do youtube! these videos are so entertaining and educating! and all that knowledge and these breakdowns are a testament to your skill and fight iq, this is why you are and will always be my no.1 greatest fighter of all time!
you need to understand something about islam, for him losing is the end of his MMA life, you know why? it's not because for just an inevitable loss in his career, because everyone no matter how powerful they are will feel the taste of losing in some point in their life, but it's because everyone in the MMA community and especially the fans won't show him no mercy, because the hate is unreal despite being the biggest and toughest and strongest fighter in UFC, but everyone in the other side of fanbase wants him to lose and be humiliated, just for the sake of hate, now we all know the origin of this enormous unjustified hate, but we can't do anything about it, that's why every fight for islam is a matter of death and life, not like he cares anyway, islam, khabib, all the dagestani fighters have nerves of steel, they will not let anyone to be rent free in their heads, and that's why they're so strong and almost invincible.
The first thing I learned in wrestling was if you control someone's head, you pretty much control them. It is MUCH more effective to push down on someone's head/shoulders than trying to dig underhooks. You have so much more strength, arguably even a dominant position if you simply do not fight the take-down, just re-direct. I am still amazed that nearly every fight, you RARELY see fighters putting pressure to direct a person's head/neck in order to force them into doing what you want.
Many casuals stated the only reason why Islam manage to outstruck DP is because of the threat of the take downs but they don't know that it's just a different side of the same coin. If your striking is good, it becomes a threat and opens up the takedowns just as well and in this case, Islam is the perfect example of having both threats
I'm with Islam but I'm with Dustin too. Both of them is my favorite fighters. Always excited to see one of them fight. And when they both fighting, I fell very nervous every second in every round. What a fight, what a fight!

I think individually in every aspect of the MMA, Islam is better, stand up, BJJ, and wrestling but if we talking about GNP ,cage wrestling, pressure and cardio and overall style for MMA khabis style is more straightforward and has a greater ROI, also I find it quite unusual that Islam does not use gnp as much

Incredible fight, incredible breakdown. Dustin has a resume that is better than most fighters in the UFC. Walked into the fire with some of the best fighters we've ever seen and never went out easy. The man is a top level, well-rounded beast. He belongs right up there with the other legends of the sport as far as I'm concerned. Islams career is actual kind of crazy. The names he's beaten only seem to be getting better with age, which makes the fact he's beaten all of them on the streak he's on even better. I still believe as a fighter, Khabib is more dominate. But Islam is almost like the blueprint for the perfect fighter. His striking so actually high level, his grappling is second only to Khabib; and his defense is what ties everything together. He's a legend, and fully deserves the P4P ranking. (Maybe PFP#2 behind DJ tho...)
Those golden gloves look nice for championship fights. However, I would like to see only current and former champs wearing the gloves, not challengers who have not been undisputed or interim champs (or BMF).
Not really ? One had Dustin winning 2 rounds going into 5th , others had Islam winning 3 round going into 5th. Islam finishes Dustin in 5th so nun of it matters.
Honestly, this fight saved the card. I was rooting so hard for Dustin to have his David vs Goliath moment. He gave us so many promising moments of it too. This one showed off how not every story has a happy ending, but you can still have a good journey.

It felt like that shit was lava for dustin any moment there was a takedown or ground exchange. some fighters are so insanely good in one area but might be decent in others, but Islam's striking is so good that it almost makes his grappling look better? Even though Islam was gassed in round 4 and 5 he was still landing clean and was able to avoid a lot of big shots from Porier. Then he managed to choke out Porier while gassed. Islams striking is underrated, hes very accurate.
I guarantee Islam leveled up after this fight. Huge XP.

Dustin is one of the fighters that can actually absorp kicks and counter em with great punches... The pain he absorbs is substituted with some significant punches to his opponents faces, is significant, but the punches he countered with could be of greater significance. @@abyanayubwahyudi6203 Dagestan wrestling simply outclasses anything in mma. Results speak for themselves
you need to understand something about islam, for him losing is the end of his MMA life, you know why? it's not because for just an inevitable loss in his career, because everyone no matter how powerful they are will feel the taste of losing in some point in their life, but it's because everyone in the MMA community and especially the fans won't show him no mercy, because the hate is unreal despite being the biggest and toughest and strongest fighter in UFC, but everyone in the other side of fanbase wants him to lose and be humiliated, just for the sake of hate, now we all know the origin of this enormous unjustified hate, but we can't do anything about it, that's why every fight for islam is a matter of death and life, not like he cares anyway, islam, khabib, all the dagestani fighters have nerves of steel, they will not let anyone to be rent free in their heads, and that's why they're so strong and almost invincible.
*Great breakdown explaining different situations* 👍
Great Breakdown...Islam is a beast..
Islam the most complete fighter I ever seen he was step of head n this 💯
i agree islam is #2 and jones is #1
Now Maybe
But ever? No

This fight actually made me appreciate how good Khabib was. He fought all these guys and made it look easy.
Yeh. His ability to wrestle with his legs and keep people down is at another level. Also the variety of low takedowns.

I found the part about tics really interesting. I imagine there is only so much that can be done, and some tics are less involved than others. But I feel like I've seen a few times where a fighter was able to time and exploit an opponent's tics maybe idk
Salute DJ awesome breakdown 🙌

I think individually in every aspect of the MMA, Islam is better, stand up, BJJ, and wrestling but if we talking about GNP ,cage wrestling, pressure and cardio and overall style for MMA khabis style is more straightforward and has a greater ROI, also I find it quite unusual that Islam does not use gnp as much
I think Islam knows he can end the fight more with his tight squeeze than gnp. Islam got a demon back for it.
Because he goes for subs I'm thinking
@@lamertofar8gaming443 I mean if we speak from a strategic standpoint khabibs style makes more sense smother your opponent and make him tired and the submission will open up eventually
Khabib is more dominant and a better chain wrestler than Islam but Islam is a more well rounded fighter
@Bravo6goindark interestingly, islam has more subs than khabib with 2 fewer fights
I heard khabib say this years ago... islam is Elite !!!!
An unbeaten fighter is not a complete fighter. The psychology involved in dealing with a loss and still fighting at the highest level and regaining a championship is something an undefeated fighter will never have to do.

It's been 5 seconds since this video came out but man the intro was intense
lol as much as he talks about the void and distance management you would think he loves Sean Strickland but the Izzy vs Sean breakdown was biased asf Haha love the content tho
More than the fights I wait for the void breakdown videos after the fights.
islam is the kaido of LW now, he's the peak of the fighting world lol, would there ever be a joy boy against islam?? 🤣
Those golden gloves look nice for championship fights. However, I would like to see only current and former champs wearing the gloves, not challengers who have not been undisputed or interim champs (or BMF).
One judge still had Justin winning the fight let that sink in

Not really ? One had Dustin winning 2 rounds going into 5th , others had Islam winning 3 round going into 5th. Islam finishes Dustin in 5th so nun of it matters.

man I think it's just insane how clear it is that Islam has insane range when it comes to fighting. i've been getting more into fight analysis, and I remember while watching this fight it was just mad to me that Islam was such a huge threat on the feet, but an EXTREMELY EXTREMELY DEEP WATER THREAT on the ground. It felt like that shit was lava for dustin any moment there was a takedown or ground exchange. some fighters are so insanely good in one area but might be decent in others, but Islam's striking is so good that it almost makes his grappling look better? I was terrified for Dustin even though I had full faith he could pull it off. But there's just too much threats with Islam. His IQ is insane.
