That video gave me goose bumps! It is a thing of technical brilliance and awesome beauty. The sound of this thing made the hair on my neck stand up.
If you are worried about exactly how fast it went round you must have no soul. Go home you missed the story worrying about the words used.

I like the jarring juxtaposition to be honest, lends more gravity to the attempt. Of course that is a cinematic choice.
Pretty goofy promo video. I prefer the 918 Spyder's video. Show the whole lap without goofy music and narrative and let the video and lap speak all you need for the awesomeness of the car.

iFly555 Actually there are rumours they did it much, much faster, and another rumour says theyre waiting for ferrari post the laferrari time so they wont make P1 the benchmark to beat. Considering the P1 is a complete monster which additionaly carries the legacy of F1, this actually sounds believable.

This is by far the best video I have seen when it comes to challenging the Nürburgring. Brings my pulse up to exciting levels and goose bumps on my arms - unbelievable awesomeness! Love from Sweden to Team McLaren!

mcklaren signed a no disclosure clause in an agreement to porsche stating they would not mention the lap time if it were faster until after porsche had reached their sales target goal for the 918,and the whistling noise is the sound of air passing through your hollow brain.

Holy cow that was awesome! Awaiting onboard. Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling that the 6:57 was actually destroyed by this car and that McLaren are just taking their sweet time to let the fervor build up before they drop the lap time on us? Also this looked like the prototype car didn't it?
Pretty sure it was yeah, the wheel shot said "XP2R", XP means Experimental Prototype, they used XP7 for heat testing, I assume 2R is the one they've dedicated for smashing the ring.
...yes I do realise what I just said.
I think that they don't reveal their time because they don't want to give LaFerrari, a time to beat.

I hope everyone can look past the banter about who is better/which cars the fastest etc, and see what a beautifully shot video this is. The commentary, the car noise which is pure sex, the camera work. Its a video like this I feel even someone who isn't a "car person" can appreciate or at least see the beauty in. Well done McLaren.
And by the way, the sounds of that magnificent engine and drive system is all the music this piece really needed!

It's truly precision engineered. A work of art a great car that looks so stunning and I'm sure it's one of the only cars that can take on The Nordschleife and make it look like its nothing. McLaren never seem to disappoint me they keep hitting the right notes

Beqause it almost like's it want to take of in the sky, gave me some serious goosebumps. I'd love to see that, though seeing as McLaren are being very secretive of the time they set, a full length lap video may give it away, so it could be unlikely.

McLaren is a racing organization ..The clips that they showed of the car on the track at 1:20 , 1:30 and 2:39 are there for racing professionals to judge not laymen . 1:20 shows the car virtually SUCKED back to the ground after hitting the curb due to MASSIVE downforce , 1:30 shows the car accelerating out of a lateral slide at an insane speed only MASSIVE downforce would allow that , 2:39 shows a portion of the ring where most cars go airborn yet P1 never left the ground unheard of at that speed for ANY car much less a road car again due to MASSIVE downforce. On any track especially the ring downforce is EVERYTHING
All the fools can argue but the people who REALLY know KNOW that 918 and LaFerrari cannot compete with this car and so do Porsche ans Ferrari
