Everyone's so shocked in reaction videos that no one notice that Vhagar ate Lucerys along with the middle part of Arrax, hence why Arrax was torn in half.
I haven't seen anyone miss that 🤣
That’s pretty obvious
@@adventuresinlaurenland Some are saying he fell to his death
Exactlyyyyy 😭
She did not eat Arrax nor Luce, there are rarely dragons who resort to cannibalism and Vhagar is not one of them. She just bit them once (to kill them, not to eat them) and that was it, Luce's corpse is probably still attached to Arrax hence why it was confirmed that he died.
Luke was under protection of being an envoy, doesn't matter that Aemond was there. Aemond broke the laws of god and men by killing an envoy as well as kinslaying, he is forever cursed now.
Well in the books Yh but the way they portrayed it here it’s more the dragons that did it
@@DonHbankz doesn't really matter though he now only has his words against what everyone else believes, people will know that vhagar killed him and will assume aemond murdered him deliberately
@@DonHbankz Interesting because Viserys foreshadowed, " The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion " but also, " Truth does not matter, only perception "
Not to mention that his claiming of Vhagar and supposed control of the Largest Dragon is one of the things giving the Greens clout. For him to let it be known that his WMD can And will go rogue would only weaken the Greens' position.
@@DonHbankz Still Aemond's fault in the way the TV series portrayed it. He treated his dragon like it was some toy to settle his childhood grudges, you don't put them into that situation and avoid the blame when the predictable outcome happens. Plus the dragon is influenced by her emotional connection to Aemond and shares the hatred and desire for vengeance towards Luke. He could have easily killed Luke before losing control as well.
If we are going by movie rules, then Rhaenyra sealed Luke’s fate when she told him he had a short flight with a warm reception awaiting him.
Huh
Rhaenyra had an very good relationship with Boremund Baratheon, it just happened that relationship didn't translate down to his son Borros. Looking in hindsight, probably would have been better to send Rhaenys who has a closer blood relationship to the Baratheons.
@@sofreshsogreen Rhaenys was also on a Mission and they really weren't expecting bloodshed
I mean luke was just a messenger.. usually noone attacks messengers
@@Sandrarosier7 didn’t Daemon nearly beat a messenger from his brother to death earlier this season?
That shot showcasing the scale of those dragons was 🔥🔥
"Chef's Kiss"
The most heartbreaking scene in the end was to watch Rhaenyra hold her womb and cry out loudly without making any noise. I mean that scene clearly shows she was torn apart completely she still didn't overcome from the death of her justborn and now she loses her second child. Her grief is beyond our imagination and the look she gives at the end clearly shows that she has no mercy left for the greens now. Though Aemond didn't want Lucerys to death but still his full chase for the little boy truly makes him responsible for his death and begining of the war. Peace and harmony didn't fetch any goodwill for Rhaenyra and ya now we gotta see the darkside of hers. I standstill and support my Queen.
And if you watch closely at Rhaenyra as she walks away, her legs buckle slightly, but she manages to hold it together, that look though..there was pure murder in those eyes.
It now seems daemon has the fire and blood war he was looking for!
Good post. You forgot she was still grieving the loss of her Father. I agree with everything you said.
Emma's performance this episode was perfect, they truly embody rhaenyra and need to be nominated!
Daemon now have a clear reason to kill the green. "An eye for an eye,a son for a son, Lucerys death will be avenged" next season 🩸🧀
Rhaenyra was the only one holding Daemon back. I doubt she'll do so now.
I'm reminded of an earlier episode where rhaenyra went by herself to confront daemon when she was a young teenager. The moment increased rhaenyra's confidence in her own abilities as a leader and likely thought a diplomatic opportunity would help her child too. However, Viserys was deeply concerned over her well being and upset that she went. It seems rhaenyra didn't appreciate the risk that alarmed Viserys
I thought the same. Why send the son who you know is the most sensitive but Luc did a good job. He did as his mother said and he died a dragon rider poor thing
Well, I'm sure she weighed the risks and came to the conclusion that the Greens didn't want war and that's the truth. Even Aemond, the guy who looks unhinged, didn't want war. She probably also saw it as an opportunity to help Lucerys gain confidence. She did send him to the closest location as well and she trusted him to handle himself and he did. Everything that happened was tragic because it was all by accident so it's not a wrong judgement call.
@@ebrimajallow3165You misunderstand me. I was stating there was a deliberate and logical reason for rhaenyra's decision both from rhaenyra's perspective but also an attempt by the writer's to draw a parallel to another scene.
In hindsight, it was clearly a bad judgment call for rhaenyra's character. However that is life, some decisions can end up poorly even though they may have seemed logical at the time.
I don't think it was aemond intent, and yet I think the show continually demonstrates how the course of events takes on a life of their own beyond the character's control. For example, despite alicent's and rhaenyra's recent efforts to stop the conflict altogether and/or limit the brutality of the conflict, in contrast to daemon and otto, the conflict will continue and the cruelty and death will escalate to the detriment of everyone
@@Junior-zw2bm yeah, I see your what you mean. I wasn't trying to assert that you were wrong, just that I think whether something is considered a correct judgement call or not shouldn't be based on the success or outcome at the end since it was a logically sound decision to send dragons and the boys and Rhaenys since going herself is the bad decision, and to your point, since the events take on a life of their own this particular outcome couldn't be accounted for, even though the reasoning behind it was as sound as it could've been given the circumstances.
@@SE-gs6gd a big part of the decision is that they were pressed for time and unfortunately they wrongly assumed that Borros would agree to join their cause
“The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion”
“They’re power men should never have trifled with”
- Viserys Targaryen
Brilliantly realized as pure Cinema. *Show, don't just tell.*
The audience doesn't really believe it based on words, but now....you see it.
This is also a 'change' from the books fake-history account because there was no way to know what was intended and what was accidental.
How would the historians know?
Aemond: _Actually i can't really control the damned dragon and neither could my cousin._ [RIP]
_We need you to regard us in fear and awe as Gods, when in fact we are holding on for dear life._
Right - no way history would know this. But....now we do. Bravo.
a dragon is not a slave -daenerys
Viserys is really the Robert Baratheon of this show. Every fucking thing Bobby B warned about in season 1 happened. It's the same. I love how the frist king is always shown to be "innefectual", and then the rest of the show is just about how they were fucking right all along.
exactly ... this hopefully will end up being the reality and twist at the end ... PLUS didn't i hear the dragon almost speak after muchin teh lil one ... hmmmmm ... WE WAIT
Viserys was a scholar by talent and temperament. He knew and understood a great deal, but taking practical, decisive action he always struggled with.
Although Aemond didn’t want for it to happen, he did instigate it thinking he could just scare Lucerys a little. But the dragons started fighting instead, and it went out of control. And dance of the dragons began.
Zaldrizes buzdari iskos daor
I mean trully, they started it when they bullied Aemond and took an eye from him. If that did not happen, then Aemond would not hate Lucerys nor would like to scare him.
Nah man Aemond was fucking around and showboating in that way of "Bully me now mf, stick wings to a pig now" and in no way did he wanna kill his nephew who he grew up around as a brother. It's like Viserys said, Targaryen control over dragons is an illusion, they're wild animals and eventually that animal instinct comes thru.
@@Alejojojo6 You mean when Aemond was about to smash his brother's head in with a rock? They were all dumb kids at that point. He elevated everything when he grabbed the rock.
Aemond is a grown man with a mind of a bully teenager. One does not bully the opponent while at brink of war when still, talks of negotiations are still on table. A terrible joke causes an all out war.
As soon as we saw Vhagar at Storm's End, Lucerys's fate was sealed sadly.
No as soon as Rhaenyra sent A CHILD PRINCE instead of literally anyone else like Daemon
@@goldenlockx she couldn't have known this would happen. And you think Caraxes and Vhagar wouldn't have gone at it in the same scenario?
Rhaenys should have gone instead before going scouting the gullet. And borros is her cousin.
@@thetraumatized2703 I agree with that. Aemond would have not screwed with her.
@@goldenlockx Daemon is a bad choice tho. He literally tried to toast Otto when he came as an envoy which is pretty taboo. Daemon works as a warrior not as an envoy or in diplomacy.
@15:21 Achara instantly understanding what is happening with the dragons. Jaby, grinning & clapping, totally oblivious.
Yeah man completely oblivious !!
What else is new!😂
Achara is so smart and insightful while this guy is one of the dumbest people I’ve seen on youtube
17:59 That final scene harkens back to Viserys' monologue: "The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion"
Lucaerys wanted to hide but Arax disobeyed him and attacked Vhagar and tried to escape outside the storm. Both Arax and Vhagar disobeyed their masters
Aemond:I want his eye
Vhagar: He can keep his eye

“The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion” - King Viserys
Queen Rhaenyra's look at the end of episode reminded me of Daenery's look when Cersei ordered Missandei's head from GOT Season 8, Episode 4
"Princess Rhaenyra" you mean.
I love how this episode mirrors a lot from Rhaenyra's childhood. When Viserys had to handle the Triarchy, Rhaenyra said "send me, I have a dragon" and Corlys was like "hell yeah great plan!", now around 20 years later Jace said "send us, we got dragons" and Corlys, again, was like "hell yeah, great plan". This time we saw why Viserys didn't want to send Rhaenyra back then.
And Luke's death was an accident. Aemmond didn't mean to kill him, he wanted his eye, he wanted to scare him and maybe even sent a message like "I got Vaeghar, don't fuck with the Greens" and when things got out of control, he immediatly realized that this started a war. Rhaenyra wouldn't have to tell Luke about what to do if one of the Greens are there because she knows that Alicent didn't want war, a fight wasn't a realistic option.
When you visit a birthday party of a friend you don't wear a bulletproof vest just in case there could be someone who doesn't like you and has a gun.
Luke's death was an accident, a provoked accident for sure, but an accident.
@@0._m_.0 book isnt exact though. Its a history book taken from sources. What we see here in hotd is canon as per GRRM.
In the books that is exactly what Aemond's intention is but it is portrayed as it was an accident in the show. I guess writers want people to symphatize the Greens.
@@DiableJambeftw bruh books arent telling what's happening exactly. Book is hearsay.
@@DiableJambeftw If you actually read the book you would realize the books are simply recounts and hearsay from measters and a court jester. They aren't accurate. It would make sense that their recounting of an isolated event between Aemond and Lucerys would be based off of what was told from Aemond himself.
@@DiableJambeftw if writers want viewers to symphatize with the Greens they do a horrible job so far.
Within this world it's realistic that a child and a young adult are not able to control their dragons in a fight, especially if the dragon is over 100 years old and fought many battles. I know people want to be like "well I read and perfectly understood the books and the writers are wrong", but man that's so annoying, predictable and actually quite cringe.
Stop comparing the show to the books, they're two different ways to tell the same story, they're not trying to perfectly re-tell the book story.
Daemon's character is a fascinating social experiment. We see how charisma and badassery will blind people to obvious personality issues. Daemon choking his wife out of frustration is absolutely within the character they have defined. Yes, he loves his family and will probably die for them, but when angered, he can also harm them severely. The dude has evil and toxicity in him, as well as a thirst for violence that transcends any moral justification. Everyone who calls him the internet's boyfriend ignores all the warning signs. It's quite interesting to follow.
Rhaenyra in the beginning : "do not attack, keep calm, and be respectful"
Rhaenyra in that last scene : "and I take that personally"
Well I mean hard not to take the murder of ur child personally
I mean I would too, if someone chomped my fucking son in half
She lost her, dad, her baby, her crown, son back to back after literal YEARS of being the one to constantly reaching out for peace.
Vhagar is a VERY spicy girl 👀:
Vhagar was a destructive, quarrelsome and aggressive creature all her life, even for a dragon. Her roar was one of the most fearsome of any of her kind, noted to have shaken the very foundations of Storm's End during her prime. Vhagar was notably unperturbed by her old age, and could contend with the likes of Caraxes even though she was nearly two hundred years old. Visenya herself admitted that Vhagar was a quarrelsome beast, as dangerous as Balerion and Meraxes and as terrifying as any dragon that would ever succeed her.
such a deep baritone growl. That was probably the best dragon growl after Caraxes
“And with Lucerys death, the war of ravens and envoys came to an end, and the war of fire and blood began in earnest.”
When Achara said "don't shoot the messenger" during the Jace-Daemond scene, I couldn't help but chuckle at the coincidental foreshadowing she did. NOT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THE FACT THAT I WAS COMPLETELY DEVASTATED BY WHAT HAPPENS LATER
Jace daemond?
@@rajveersingh2k04 Jace Valerryon son of Rhaneyra and Laenor Valeryon
It's Lucerys not Jacaerys, and it's Aemond not Daemon
@@VictoriaTraducciones I'm talking about what happens in 3.33 minutes.
Now I understand why the episode started with Luc and Rhaenyra. 🥺
Lucerys was so young and sweet. He didn't deserve what Aemond and that Godzilla Vhagar did
Rhaenys not torching the greens is emblematic of her thought process as a character. Killing them without consulting Rhaenyra would be too hasty, would likely spark unneeded conflict as a opposed to allowing Rhaenyra to decide how she wants to proceed. Maybe war can be averted, maybe not, but allowing the space for the former was a good move from Rhaenys.
I think when Damon chokes Reyhnera, it is out of anger and frustration boiling over. His brother is dead, his child is dead, his wife won't fight (seemingly to him) and now he finds out that Viserys didnt even trust him while he was heir to trust him with secrets of the realm. Secrets he trusted Reyhnera with. Anger is his way of coping with his grief and frustrations.
Daemon understands that the Greens will force a fight regardless. They made it clear that they wanted to kill them in the meeting during the last episode. Daemon knows the war in inevitable, that is why he's being so stern. Not a good reason to choke your wife though, he's got to settle down a bit.
@@LetsGetitBoah a bit
My thought about the sybolism about the birth scenes is to show how brave she was through it all, doing it alone, packing the baby, and flaming the grave, all this to show she has now gone beyond being just a regular woman, but rather a brave strong woman who can carry herself, so much so that she is now capable of being a True Queen.
Like men have to be brave in battles to achieve a True Kingship, a women has to be beyond just childbirth to achieve a True Queenship
good thinking
A brave STRONG WOMAN 🙂
Most all women are brave and strong. Childbirth is no mean feat.
@@aakarshverma5793 try burying your own deformed daughter by yourself
It was also Rhaenyra fighting the “battle” that her mother always told her about: “a woman’s battlefield is the birthing bed”.
Aemma the mother of Rhaenyra that we saw dying in the first episode was an Arryn (her mother was a Targaryen but his father was the Lord of the Vale). The Arryns are the main ruling house of the Vale, while the Royce are a minor house, vassals of the Arryn. Still they might support Aegon II while most of the vale supports Rhaenyra cause she is literally a Grandaughter of the lords of the Vale.
It's actually a little iffy for us, cuz I checked the wiki, and it doesn't show how Rhaenyra is related to Jeyne Arryn, who is the current head of House Arryn. This is mostly because we don't know how Rhaenyra's maternal grandfather is related to Jeyne Arryn's father, all three of whom must have been the head relatively close to one another. Maybe that ambiguity is what leads Rhaenyra to do what we know she is going to do and we preemptively hate her for... no, not that thing, the one after that. On second thought, the thing that comes before is much worse, bad Rhaenyra!
@@theperson8539 Probably Jeyne is either the aunt of Rhaenyra (half-sister of Aemma) or her cousin (daughter of a half-sibling of Aemma). We know that Daella, the mother of Aemma acted as a mother to her husbands older children.
I rewatched the scene in super slowmotion where Vhagar chomps down on Araxx and Lucerys was in Vhagars mouth so yeah he definitely dead..
Even if not, he's dead by falling from that height.
To me the birthing cries were symbolic foreshadowing. Her motherly pain would ultimately become what filled the war room. Like we saw it do at the very end of the episode. Of course, that did not occur to me until the very end.
EDIT: I also found it cool to see how they at first carried on with the war plans in spite of her pain and now they are going to do the same BECAUSE of her pain.
Jaby nearly had a heart attack in the dragon scene😂.
9:25 She smiled because she saw that Rhaenyra wasn't charging headlong into war, but actually was showing restraint. In essence she was doing what Rhaenys would have been doing in her position.
18:43 Yep, that's it.
20:10 Yes Daemon's first wife was from the Vale, she was a Rhoyce, so they perhaps won't be likely to support Daemon. But the Arryns who rule the whole of the Vale, House Rhoyce serves under House Arryn, should theoretically be loyal to Rhaenyra as her mother was an Arryn.
22:22 Rhaenyra's miscarriage/stillbirth has got nothing to do with convenience and is ripped straight from the book. It symbolises the Hightowers taking everything from her.
24:58 Actually I interpreted that scene as Daemon getting angry and losing his temper because Viserys never told him the prophecy.
The crown was everything to Rheanyra? I wouldn’t say the Hightowers took everything from her
I agree with most of those points. I think Daemon was mad at her pragmatism and only realized as he had her throat that Viserys never considered him an heir. But also annoyed because he did not appreciate the histories and prophecies like his brother had. He just wanted fire and blood
Rhaenys remorselessly crushed thousands of innocent people to death. She's in no position to cast judgement on anyone for their level of restraint. It's honestly baffling that no one else in the show ever mentions that and it has no impact on the story.
@@SolarDragon007 Never forget the hundreds that died because of Rhaenys the Genocidal, I hope they address it in season 2
@@TheRubenMar they wont address it so you best just forget about it, the targaryen's disregard of common folk is a big theme throughout the dance and they always see themselves above common people
“This is very Korean cinema” made me laugh out loud.😂
14:32 That's what she said!
Sorry too clear an opportunity to let go! 😅😅😅
The idea that something uncontrollable like a dragon disobedience and instinct behavior was indeed the trigger of the war was a BRILLIANT add of the tv show.
I love watching the behind the scenes video at the end of each show it helps fill the gaps of the story that a book can tell that a TV show can't or struggles to do. It usually has to do with character motivations and why they made the decisions they did and I really like getting that insight.
Early in the season, Viserys warned Rhaenyra that “the idea that we control the dragons is an illusion. They’re a power men should never have trifled with.”
War started off a prank gone wrong 💀
"He's too sweet to live" I laughed at this
@15:45 @19:39 "The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion. They're a power men should never have trifled with." King Viserys Targaryen.
He was so wise...and there are people saying he was not a good king.
princess rhaenys should’ve been the one to fly to storm’s end because she literally has baratheon blood in her veins from her mother’s side
About Jaby point about why they didn’t prep him first they did he was envoy and therefore protected. Second the greens have 3 dragons so it safe to assume that the biggest and most battle READY one would be protecting kings landing. Also Otto said they had already received offers so it’s safe to assume the dragon or anyone else wouldn’t be there waiting. It was literally just bad luck
16:14 Yes, we didnt see his body
its Coz he was inside that monster's mouth😭😭
This is GOT Universe.
MIRACLE is a rare case and HOPE often withers with passing time🤧🤧
We didnt see a body.... Vhagar just swallowed him..
Pinocchio?)
You know what's sad though, I really want to see them take their time and expand on the story now. I'm not joking, I want a full episode of Jace going to the Vale and then to Winterfell, he gets up to some sh*t up there and I really want to see it happen before he finds out what happened to his brother and... anti-climactic fin. Honestly, though, I feel as though Daemon is a lot more complicated than that, he's a complete and utter as*hole for sure, but that's his surface-level depiction. His depth is a lot more complex, full of insecurities, vulnerabilities, and the inability to ever process any of his emotions in a healthy manner.
Daemon was mad because nyra was being naive like Viserys. He knows otto better then anyone and knows peace is not possible. When nyra brought up the dream secret , daemon was hurt and upset that visery never told him which means he was never considered the heir for his brother. Yes he fkd up by choking nyra but it was like more of “wake the fk up, im trying to keep us alive and your being naive” with the last scene , nyra and daemon will be on the same page now understanding it’s time for war
Always wanna excuse Daemon being an ass. What about killing his ex wife? Aegon can’t be an ass but Daemon can?
Also it’s seems to him that she is not taking the actual threat seriously plus you got all his suppressed emotions with his brother dying him thinking they killed him to usurp the throne and the fact that it lead to the death of his daughter
Nothing is an excuse for a man choking a woman, though. A woman who is not only your wife, but your queen. She literally could have had his head for doing that.
Daemon’s problem is that he wants everything his own way and that can’t happen when you’re not the ruler. He didn’t want to obey his brother and he doesn’t want to obey Rhaenyra.
The reality is that you’re not always going to agree with the monarch’s decisions and you have to accept that, but Daemon won’t.
What’s interesting is that he thinks he hates Otto Hightower because they’re polar opposites when, in fact, they are very similar and that’s what Daemon hates him, deep down. They’re both second sons who are trying to grasp for power beyond what was given to them at birth. Otto is trying to rule through Alicent and Aegon and Daemon is trying to rule through Rhaenyra.
I suppose I understand why Daemon would feel slighted that Viserys didn’t share the secret of the Ice and Fire prophecy with him. It’s not fun to realize you were always just a placeholder and never the real heir. At the same time, Daemon grew up in this society but he’s acting like he doesn’t understand how primogeniture works. Even if Rhaenyra never existed, Viserys would have had a son, eventually, whether with Aemma or with another wife. That son would have, of course, supplanted Daemon as heir. Seriously, the man’s thinking is not better than Renly’s - no real claim to the throne but thinks it’s okay to jump over other people in line just because he wants it.
Episode 10 was like watching Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth in The Crown season1, the couple dynamic struggle is real😅🤣
It was bad weather for flying, even for a dragon, and Arrax was struggling to stay aloft when Prince Aemond mounted Vhagar and went after him. Had the sky been calm, Prince Lucerys might have been able to outfly his pursuer, for Arrax was younger and swifter…but the day was “as black as Prince Aemond’s heart,” says Mushroom, and so it came to pass that the dragons met above Shipbreaker Bay. Watchers on the castle walls saw distant blasts of flame, and heard a shriek cut the thunder.
I feel sad for rhaena as well because she lost her betrothed and you could tell they were super close 🥺💔
"The idea that we control the dragons is an illusion. They're a power man should never have trifled with."
-King Viserys I
31:10 Is not like he didn’t wanna hide, but he lost control of Arrax, the little dragon was agitated by the attacks and storm
Exactly. Arrax was scared and usually animals that are scared or stressed lash out
I don't quite get what Aemond thought would happen. He's attacking a kid on a bike with airbus plane. Even if Vhagaer didn't kill Luce and the dragon, Luce could have easily fell off or flew into rocks trying to escape... Aemond wanted to do something and probably deeo down kill him, but the actual act I think still shocked him bcs its his first time and his nephew
He doesn’t care that it’s his nephew but yes it was shocking for him because now he’s a kinslayer who inevitably started a war and he never probably killed before
i swear my heart dropped the moment i saw vhagar i knew shit is about to go down. and Lucerys was a bit afraid to go alone too, man Lucerys was a good kid he didn't deserve to die the way he did. RIP Lucerys.
Daemon has been always the one willing to act. He spent years with a king who avoids conflict n doesn't want her to be the same
The show understands that it has to be more than *canon fodder.*
Aemond: _Actually i can't really control the damned dragon and neither could my cousin._ [RIP]
_We need you to regard us in fear and awe as Gods, when in fact we are holding on for dear life._
Right - no way history would know this. But....now we do. Bravo.
Right, I think he's going to have to basically own up to this and just pretend he was in control, even if it does make him look bad. The Kingdom has to believe he truly rules over his Dragon.
Great reaction to a phenomenal finale guys! As always, Achara's thoughtful and nuanced analysis is the cherry on top ❤️
If u see in slowmo vhaghar bit exactly where boy sat :)
Vhagar may not be able to reach Luc and Arrax in the canyon, but his flame could tho. Which is why I get that he didn't just stay there and wait it out
I love watching people reaction to see their scared face, that always made my day :)
This was a great finale to a amazing season, and I enjoyed the change they made in comparison to the book F&B. Now the events will make a lot more sense especially with the decision makings pre & during the dance, and them not being in full control of their dragon's ties in to the lore of ASOIAF.
Three things --
First, go back to episode 6, Daemon was in the room when Laena was in labor. It’s why the maester was able to give him a choice about cutting Laena open.
Second, if anyone other than Aemond was at Storms End, Luc would have been safe. Remember Alicent’s message was that they (the Greens) wanted to avoid war also. Aemond chose to be a bully, chose violence. Even if you apply modern rules, he is absolutely to blame for Luc’s death.
Third, Luc was trying to hide. Aemond couldn’t find him but then Arrax went and spat fire at Vhagar. You can hear Luc trying to control Arrax. So he was hiding like Jaby said he should have.
Been waiting for the reaction for more than 2 days.. as I saw the epsiode late Friday.
Achara’s reactions are everything.
Lucerys is dead, that's how he dies in the books and the first casualty of the war. Dont get too attached to the characters... many will die.
You guys were so late. Yours was the one I was eagerly awaiting to watch.
3:33 "Don't shoot the messenger" = accidental foreshadowing for the dragon chase scene 😅 loving the reaction & analysis! You guys do a brilliant job of picking up subtle details in your HOTD reactions, can't wait for the next season!
Aemond returning home: "So what happened was..."
Vhagar: "Fuck dem kids."
"what a moment to have that moment.."
Been waiting for this reaction
Well I believe it is still Aemond's fault. I understand that his intention was to only play with Luke and Arrax with Vhagar, but he forgot that dragons are not toys. Vhagar is a monster, a 181 year old beast who's been through too much war and bloodshed, and with all that comes a sort of a pride. Arrax is a baby dragon, in age and size both. So, while for Aemond it was just having some fun by getting Vhagar to chase Arrax, for him and Luke it was life-threateningly scary. No wonder Arrax acted out and blasted Vhagar with fire. He was scared and like a scared child, he acted out, trying to defend himself. And like a proud and petty adult, Vhagar took it personally and well....then she went chomp chomp. This whole mess happened due to Aemond's recklessness, which resulted in both the dragons' primal instinct being activated, and Vhagar being a WAY larger dragon with WAY, WAY more experience in battles and wars, did what she's made to do. She went for Arrax and poor Luke just got caught in between them.
But yeah, my assessment is that Vhagar has become way too old and proud to now listen to a human's command, while Arrax is just too young and still in his teenage, rebellious years (remember how Dany had difficulty controlling Drogon when he was at that age?). Both the dragons acted against their rider's commands, one out of fear and the other out of pride.
But still, it is fitting that the Dance of the Dragons should start because of two dragons and their little fight.
And yes, Jaby and Achara, Luke is dead. As described by Robert Baratheon in the GoT lore: "Prince Lucerys fell, broken. With his death, the war of ravens came to an end, and the war of Fire and Blood began."
In season 2, more (actual) dragon battles await us, along with Daemon's revenge for Rhaenyra's murdered son, which in and of itself, is a really really fucking fucked up and dark shit. Wait till you see.....book readers know what's about to go down in episode 1 of the next season, and it's gonna be very fucking heartbreaking to watch.
I feel like Vhagar said F-- it when she agreed to kill Laena. She was done. Aemond didn't know his dragon cuz she wasn't his and he wasn't meant to be a dragon rider
can u give us a hint as to what will happen in episode 1 of the next season?

@@SE-gs6gd While I would like to think that what you say is true, I have to disagree. Aemond is a Targaryen by blood and thus he has every right claim a dragon. He chose Vhagar to be his own, and showed her that he had the will power and courage to claim her, and so she accepted him. However, I would admit that you're right in one thing: Aemond didn't know his dragon, probably because he never bothered to get to know her. To him, Vhagar was a prize and a symbol of pride. Nothing more and nothing less. After all, to be able to say that "I am the rider of Vhagar, the biggest, baddest, and oldest dragon alive," it does have a nice ring to it. But, yeah, Aemond should have taken the time to really understand Vhagar instead of just flaunting himself around as her rider. Laena's connection with Vhagar was never shown to us to a deeper extent, but I believe she knew and understood Vhagar better because in the books, it is told that Lady Laena Velaryon loved to fly on her dragon. The more time she must have spent with Vhagar, the more Laena would've gotten to connect with her, and get to know her.
@@sanketshelke8667 I agree pretty much with most of your points. But i find it interesting that Vhagar went chomp chomp instead of flaming the little guy as a warning to say F--- off cuz clearly Luc wasn't a threat to her
As far as not seeing a body at the end, I think his body wound up in the other dragon’s belly. Only saw the cape falling.
Ohh yeah love waking up to this. Favorite reactors 😎
14:33 That's what she said.
Men of culture. Here we gather again
I think for the birth at the beginning, its a call back to the very first episode also having a birth. Both failing and leading to a lot of grief.
Also the kid is very much dead, like I can't think of anyway he could have survived. The dragon ripped them both apart.
And as Achara said, at 14 years old you were basically a man in those times. While I feel like he shouldn't have gone alone, you also have to trust that he can do his job.
This is an object lesson in how dragons brought about the collapse of Valyria. You put godlike personal power in the hands of individual fallible humans, their petty squabbles become epicly magnified.
What a finale..bravo
We need more episodes!!!
i love how she says "it's so big!!!"
someone could make a joke out of that....

From George RR Martin:
_The full versions, much longer and unabridged, will eventually be published in a _*_fake history_*_ tome to be called FIRE & BLOOD._
Some book readers don't get...the book. They keep talking about 'canon' when the whole point of the book is that the events have to be taken with a grain of salt.
So for the show to be true to the spirit of the book - there must be dramatic surprises where character actions and motivations are shown to be different, than what the FAKE history relates.
This show - so far - has a brilliant grasp of that. Even if some of the book readers don't.
PS- One of the greatest book adaptations ever - is one of the most controversial - Stanley Kubrick's take on Stephen King's *The Shining.*
Many book readers passionately hated the film, including King: *How dare you alter my book?*
But almost 50 years later the film sits near the top of almost every list of greatest horror film's ever made.
A good film adaptation does not ever just 'copy' events from a book. Any director would gag at the thought.
The book is a muse, and the artists interprets and succeeds or fails on that basis.
So far......this show has done a great job of that. (I read the book, but still didn't know how the show would end....and the tension between what actually happened, and how it was recorded in the FAKE history that is the book, made it all the more compelling)
He was in Vhagar's mouth when he went chomp chomp!!! "Didn't see a body." 😂
31:18 What you do is to fly in any direction _except_ straight back home. That was my first thought when Luce took off, "I hope you didn't make a bee line straight back to Dragonstone" because with the head start and the storm, that was the _only_ route upon which Aemond would be able to find him. e.g. Luce could have flown South for an hour and then make a leisurely loop NE again. Or he could have flown straight west to the much closer Evenfall (The Sapphire Isle), a confirmed ally and hung out in that castle for a few hours etc. and he would have been safe. Like Rickon who didn't know how to zig zag, going in a straight line on a predictable heading is what killed him.
Aemond: I want lucerys eye.
Vhagar: He can keep his eye. 👁

Fookin epic
Did Daemon see what happened to Lucerys death at Storms End through Vermithors eyes? It seemed like he new what happened to Lucerys after that scene and came up to Rhaenyra and told her
No, it's likely that someone spotted the dragons fighting and/or found the remains of the dragon 3 days later and sent word to Dragonstone....like it was in the book.
They were fighting, flew to the skies, and only one survived. I'm fairly certain they deduced it from that. Plus Aemond threatened to maim him in front of other people and chased Lucerys. If Luce survived, it was self defense. If Aemond survived, it was murder. A war would break out either way. And no one's ever going know that they were actually trying to stop their dragons from fighting.
How Deamon knew? A raven, maybe? You can see the time difference when Luce died it was morning but when Daemon went to tell Rhaenyra there were no lights peeking through the room.
But upon research I found that Lucerys died the same day Rhaenyrs's stillborn child was born. However in the episode days passed between the two deaths. The baby died in the morning and in the afternoon Otto showed up when the sun was setting.
Yeah.. the deaths were a day apart and the news of Lucerys's death got to Dragonstone in the evening.
@@Regenmacher175 They wouldn't worry when Luke didn't return after a few hours? 3 days is too long for them to not just think about his return.
@@aditisk99 That's how it was in the book. Arrax's head and neck washed up beneath the cliffs below Storm's End 3 days after that conforntation and Lucerys's body was never found in the book. The characters also don't have mobile phones and don't know if Luke was not maybe a guest of lord Borros for a couple of days. Word does not travel fast usually in Westeros.
I would like to add when she was in labour i think syraxx was feeling her pain as they are connected as same as daemon's dragon did when daemon got shot by a arrow in stepstones.
The Vale doesn’t have love for Daemon, but they have love for Rhaenyra cuz of her mother, Aemma Arryn. Aemma (died in ep 1) is Arryn from her fathers side and Targaryen from her mothers side (Daela Targaryen)
Achara: “It’s BIG. It’s SO BIG!” 😂
8:57 "I do not wish to rule over a kingdom of ash and bone."
*I've heard that before.
And have seen the consequences too
Jaby really clapped when Arrax patted Vhagar with some weakass fire 😂
I read the book so I already knew, but damn it hits so hard anyway.
I like your videos as i have been watching them for a year.
Same
Me for 6 years. Holy shit
Damon is singing to Veramithor who was Jaharys s dragon and he has seen battle and he is the second largest comparative vaygar so he is an amazingly good choice for Damon to try to pull to his side
Daemons wife was a Royce from the Vale. But House Arryn are related to Rhaenyra's mother. The Arryns are former kings of the Vale and the overlords of House Royce. They may find their oaths more important than the death of their banner lady. But it might something that comes up when Jace gets to the Vale.
Even by movie rules, falling from that high, after getting chomped, nah, he's gone im pretty sure
Rhaenyra and the Blacks are confident that the Baratheons will swear to them because Borros' father, Boremund, fought for Rhaenys in the Great Council and swore fealty for Rhaenyra when she was made heir. That's probably why they didn't "prepare" that much like you said because they thought that even if one of the Greens came in Storm's End, Borros will still side with Rhaenyra. And about Luke not hiding well I think it is fair to think that not only is he a child, he's also a panicking one, his dragon is also panicking. It would make sense that they are not being rational at that moment
Achara saying "It's so big" over and over turned me on a bit. 😆 Lol
that boy literally got torn into halves, jaby was like,"we didnt see a body"🤣
I feel like it is about her trying to experience grief that she did not really soak it in, remember she lost her mother, her father, and her lover now her unborn child and her son at the finale. I feel like she is really going to go through so much grief and take in charge for next season
14:32 Yep. That’s what she said 😊
Daemon was trying to stop S8 when he choked rhaenyra talking about the prophesy 🤣
I burst out laughing when jaby clapped because arrax attacked vhagar.....i was like "just wait"
